    Was driving home & the civic sputtered, loss power, then it came back, happen a few times then the Check Engine light popped on, luckly I was only a mile or so from home & was able to get it home. Pulled the codes and it was the Camshaft Position Sensor. In this video we pull out the old sensor & replace it with a new one.

    I watched a lot of videos but this one seemed to be the easiest and the most straightforward. I was able to complete the job in around 30 minutes with no problems. The check engine light was off again as soon as I turned the car back on and so far, everything works great. Thanks!

      Have you had any other issues since replacing that sensor? I have a similar issue and will need to do this soon. Waiting for the part to coming in the next few days

      @@dailotom I haven't. The car runs a lot better. I had noticed before it starting dying that it had a little trouble starting up the month or so before hand. I replaced the camshaft position sensor and no issues.

      Mike Newell Great! Glad to hear it worked. Will try installing as soon as it comes in and I hope it fixed my issue too.

    Thanks Channing Tatum, I was able to fix this pretty quick without removing the valve cover, also didn't remove the hose because the valve cover wouldn't move enough to matter.

    nice video bro, I was just thinking of cutting a hole in the timing cover cuz I didn't want to do all that extra stuff, but I think I'll use a screwdriver like you.

    Some other mechanic told me it was the oxygen sensor. The upstream and downstream. I paid for that and it still sputters like it's the plugs. I changed the plugs and helped a tiny bit. But hope the cam shaft sensor does the trick? Thank you for the video man!😎👍

    When the cam shaft goes completely out will it cause the vehicle to crank but not start? I had a code reader connected to my 2000 honda cr v and it came back a intermittent interruption on the cam shaft position sensor and something to do with the distributor cap. It was driving horribly before we replaced the battery and distributor cap. Then all of a sudden it ran great for one day until it died out on us pulling out of Walmart then again in some day at the garage while the guy was backing out after putting my new tires on. Then had no problem for 3 days straight, started up everytime I tried.......walked out on that 4th morning and hasn't started ever since. Would greatly appreciate any feedback. Thanks in advance!

    Do or should put the crank sensor too because my light is still on

    • @wnos100shot
      @wnos100shot  5 років тому

      Not to sure if this was your question because it was kinda written weird.. but I think this is what you were asking.
      Well it depends on why your check engine light was on to begin with. Did you read the codes to see what caused it to turn on? Then assuming you did that, and it told you to only replace the crank sensor, and you did with a new one, not a used one. The light would still be on because the part is bad or installed incorrectly, or you didn't reset the ECU/ clear the code. You can do that with the code reader. Or you can disconnect the battery for about 5-10 seconds to reset it.

    You must be lucky to happen it at the house. But to me it was 400miles away from house. Suddenly Check engine light came and stopped. I had to tow it to my place. Its very scary situation. We cannot tell when it can go bad.

      me a pasado en varias ocasiones, el mio vuelve a encender despues de 5 minutos de descanso. Cuando compre los repuestos de autozone al fallar me dejeba abandonado y tenia que esperar varias horas para que vuelva a encender el civic, con el sensor original las fallas de ese sensor me son intermitentes y puedo seguir andando despues de unos minutos. el repuesto en el autozone me cuesta 35dlls, el original 180 dlls. Mucha diferencia.

      I'd scan the code to see if anything comes up. If you don't have a code reader I would definitely recommend one. It'll save you loads of time trying to figure out what's wrong.

  • @cortg7930

    So basically you're saying that after you loosened the valve cover, you then realized that you didn't even have to do that, and all you really needed was a flathead to get to the sensor once the 10s were removed?

    • @wnos100shot
      @wnos100shot  4 роки тому +4

      Cort G , the 10mm’s still need to be removed (so valve cover is loose). I was thinking I was going have to remove the whole valve cover from the motor, but realized that you can just use a flat head screwdriver to lift the side that the timing belt cover is on instead of removing the whole valve cover. 👍
