A very young Martin Sheen and Nick Nolte, plus the only surviving member of the Mamas & the Papas, Michelle Philips (knew she looked familiar!). Very cool to see an old classic that I hadn't seen before.

Another very good one is "Then Came Bronson", also with a very young Martin Sheen, who only appears in the beginning for a few minutes. It was the pilot for the series of the same name . This one is on a Harley Davidson Sportster with Michael Parks and Bonnie Bedelia (1969) . BTW, you notice what Martin paid for gas ? 22 cents/gallon !

Lovely Michelle Phillips, she was one of the female singers of The Mamas and The Papas- Mama Cass Elliot was the other. Stuart Margolin as the deputy was a regular on "The Rockford Files" and of course there's Vic Morrow, the evil Sheriff. This is a virtual clone of the character he played a year earlier in "Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry" a classic car chase movie. At this stage of his career Morrow was seemingly locked into playing bad guy roles. He was a jerk Little League manager in "The Bad News Bears" and a slave driver in "Roots" But for those of us old enough to remember he was Sgt. Saunders in "ComBat" a WWII TV drama, a fearless and smart platoon leader who knocked off plenty of Germans.
Yeswell, this is the Legendary Tunnel from the Steven Spielberg "Duel" Movie, and the Duel Truck came out of this Tunnel and David Man with the Red Chrysler becomes Panic and drive with Fullgas away and the Duel Truck is Towing the Yellow School-Bus with the overheatet Motor. Very cool Scene from this Film! I Love this Film, and i can see it over and over again, and the Film "California Kid" too!
Ron Howard and Clint Howard were in a 1976 movie called eat my dust. In California, a sheriff's son and his girlfriend steal a stock car and go for a joy ride, while the sheriff organises a team to intercept them.
Marvellous plotting! I also like the groovy wah wah pedal (invented 1966) guitar soundtrack to a movie that's supposed to take place in the late '50s. Not to be missed are the midget vs midget tough guys with one expression each throughout the entire movie. Oscar material. Maybe Mama Michelle carries herself well for a gal who wiggled further on her back than I've walked.
Good movie! Thanks for uploading! The tunnel is the same one that was used in "Back to the Future". It was edited to look longer. Just think about it, Biff had manure dumped on him on the right side of the tunnel as the sheriff pulls out!
One of the worst things in this world is a crooked cop. As usual, though, Martin Sheen did his role excellently! I just wished that at the end, they would have let the cop live long enough to learn they were just giving him back what he had shelled out.
Maggies roomroom has an Aluminum screen door and when the sheriff knocks on it. Without opening it, The sound is of a hand striking a wood door. Also, immediately after that, she opens the door for the sheriff, and her door opens outward, which would not be the case if you had a storm door on the outside. Your door on the interior would open inward. . Obviously two different stages were used.
Nice film. Like a Hot Roddin’ Western. Crooked Sheriff and Judge in cahoots in a Mean Ole Town and all….but the Sheriff he wasn’t all bad, he cautioned them kids with a bit of 1950’s morality….
Magic car. Goes from being a two-door coupe with no radio antenna in the opening scenes to a four-door sedan will antenna on the passenger side in the impound lot. The Magic of movies and poor editing.
This is one of the great movies but I didn't notice during the opening scenes and towards the very last scene where Martin Sheen was trying to outdo Vic Morrow going around that corner and going through the tunnels it looks like some of those Road scenes where are the same areas that the movie Duel took place.
Unfortunately if they did a remake of it today they'd cock it up with overly fake cars and drama that wasn't needed or wanted. Then they'd make the dude gay and the the cop would be a drag queen.
Buckle up viewers, you're in for a fast hoo ride,,,,, oh nobody had seatbelts back then they didn't wear them because cars were not equipped with them😂
When the share of chases the boy and girl and runs him off the road before the accident, the car has black wall tires. After the accident and the shot of the crashed car shows a wide white wall.

It was filmed in California on one of the canyon roads that lead to the beach. My old stomping grounds 👍🏻
