Every day was like this in the 1970s.
we all had more fun then
@@sorshiaemms5959 This is how we drove to work, got groceries, and went to church.
Kinda was😂
How about the oil crisis?
And 80,s . Ran the man many times.
Incredible chase ... after 50 years, it is still one of the best ever !
i loved it to
some driver
some stuntman
respect for this driver
And Bullit
The Seven Ups……much shorter, but just as sweet!
Absolutely NO fake CGI in this movie !
It physically hurts to see all these classic cars being destroyed, but great chase.
to be fair, those cars where brand new when this film came out
@@CRAZYMUGMANNo car used in this ultra-low-budget film was new:
"He spent a couple of years acquiring cars to use in the production. *_He owned a salvage yard in Downey_* along with his cousin. They were both millionaires in thir early twenties. *_Between the salvage yard and local wholesale outlets he bought about a hundred various vehhcles_* to use as fodder for the film.
"His business was always under investigatioin by the state, suspicious that it was a front for a chop-shop/ stolen vehicle business. Some feel the plot of the movie was him thumbing his nose at authorities.
"His family owned salvage yards back in upstate New York, and there are stories of them being involved in illicit stuff for many years prior to this."
Hard to watch with some of the classics getting wrecked in the chase . Brings a tears to my eyes
Yeah especially the 67 Fairlane convertible I had a 66 390 hi Pro with the Borg Warner top loader 4 speed
Just as long as it isn't being destroyed nowadays where it would be irreplaceable
Halicki bought 200 cars from scrap yard for this movie
They weren't classic back then.
I know, when that little white Peugot turned over on the bridge.
Way better then the Hollywooded up Nicolas Cage version. What you see is what you get. A lot of people don't know, that in the part when he hit , and sheered off that steel utility pole. He really did lose control, and seriously injured himself. Had "Eleanor" not been extremely reinforced, he'd of been done for. He kept on going even after he was seriously hurt. You gotta understand also, this was filmed on a very limited budget. Nobody in Hollweird would get behind his vision. Thus why H.B. "Toby" Halicki Wrote, produced, directed, was the stunt coordinator and drove the Eleanor car. So much more realistic then the re-make. He hit something, something got dented, smashed, or fell off the car.You see a lot of close friends, and family of his in the credits. It took me YEARS to find the original version of Gone IN 60 Seconds on DVD, after the fluffed up version came out. Still looking for more of his films on DVD
wazzzzzup
I have a DVD called "Fast as Hell"It has "The Junkman","Deadline AutoTheft"and"Gone in 60 Seconds ll".All are H.B.Halicki movies. The Junkman is an actual finished movie.A cool chase scene with him driving a 80-82Corvette.I rented this movie from a gas station/video store in 1988.After the early 90s these movies became hard to find. The others are slapped together footage that was left after Toby Halickis unfortunate death onset during filming in 1989.Check out "MillCreekDirect.com".If that doesn't work text me at 6159875079.I'm a total fan of these movies and have a friend that keeps up with it.
Sorry I don't know my own number.6155875079.I had eye surgery Friday and literally can't see straight.
+wazzzzzup, first of all, you are of full of shit, so take off the rose-colored nostalgia glasses, okay? Second, while the newer Gone in 60 Seconds had so-so car chase scenes, its story was a lot better done than the H.B. Halicki movie, but the H.B. Halicki movie also had very impressive car chase scenes in its own right and, like the first French Connection film, it was done all in real time and you know how well people loved that part of the movie.
When I was a kid, I'm 62 now, my uncle George had a house in Carson California, and took me to see a major part of filming this movie, I'll never forget being there
😂
That Mustang really was built Ford Tough!
1971-1973 mach ones are built like tanks.

The real OG Eleanor!
You are so RIGHT!
this has to be one of the best car chase movies of all time from what i had herd they never stopped filming during the chase and the funny thing was it was a low budget film way better than the newer gone in 60 by far
The greatest car movie and chase scene of all time!!!
Never seen the French Connection? While a good scene, this doesn’t hold a candle to the climax chase in the French Connection.
That would be Bullet
Sorry no comparison
Like a porn movie this condensed version is better without all the dumb dialog and pointless cutaways.
Agree
My friends and I watched this movie 4 times in one afternoon, in the theater, had to hide between shows.
This is the real deal not a hollywood remake the low budget made it seem more realistic and it was best chase ever 351 C stangs always a favorite thanks
Эти фильмы живые, настоящие.
That, and the fact that the didn't pull any permits. The stunt driving was less than legal.
sadly its not the soundtrack from 73 to get it you have to find the VHS tape .
Back in late summer of 1976 I dragged home a nearly mint 71 Mach 1 fast back the last of its kind with that mach 1 logo on it the yellow was much deeper than this movie car so it might not even be all original... It had in it what my uncle grand father said was a toasted possibly run out of oil running but knocking 351C. They spent about 7-8 months refining it and never told me there was a two 4bbl intake somewhere the back with one Holley 850 carb. They did their own magic. The thing turned into an out of control museum piece still currently in my dads recroom museum. Under my dads house is 5 of my own vehicles 4 of his own and a half dozen motorcycles that have not been started since we parked em. My uncle Meinhert is credited with finishing that cars. That Mustang like my Camaro can literally tear a pair rear tires right off it. I had that Mustang up over 100 some shut it down. last time I ever drove it was summer of 88. I just got home from military serv in Panama.. I was hurt and went reserves. My dad revived the speedo that took a dump the summer of 1978 my grand father and uncle beat on it all summer long even raced it a few times locally on the streets. It now sits untouched without a single dent. It has an anti Jane Fonda sticker on the hatch window. We left that there for some reasons. The odd touch to that Mach 1 is the chrome wheel arches and chrome along the bottoms of the doors and rockers similar to the 69 model year. I have seen other 70 body styles like that.
Actually that is a '73 Mustang. The 1971's turn signals in the front grill are horizontal, while the 1973's are vertical.
73 front clips halicki hielly modified to take shit ton of abuse he started with a 71
I read somewhere years ago that they used a 71 Mustang and added a 73 grill. Don't know why.
@@scottworsley3218 that's exactly the case production couldn't afford a new one so they started a 71 and halicki did his stunt mods to the 71 dressed up like 73
all Cleveland power
You are correct.

I have fond memories from my childhood of my father watching this movie by himself and saying, ``This movie is so funny, let's all go see it!'' as a family.

God that sound!!
R.I.P for all the cool cars that were wrecked in the making of these scene
This is the one I still have the DVD......by far the best EVERRRRRRRR
It’s more impressive when you read the history and statistics of the chase.
When you try to escape all the wanted stars you obtained in GTA.
Yeah my grandfather was in that movie and was good friends with Toby. He played the insurance adjustor in the scene with parnell Jones with the olly bronco.
Always and forever, one of the best movies!
The smack- umbrella grandma steals the show 4:27 😂😂😂
I came to the comments section looking for this 🤣😂😆
😂
The best movie ever that reminds me of lot of beautiful things when I was 21 years old. I can watch it all day and I’ll never get bored. Love it love the cars style and look of that era. Nothing is fake here everything is real.
I saw this at a screening at a Custom Van hotrod show at the CNE in '77. Shag rug mandatory. My friends mom timed the final chase scene on her wristwatch. It just went on and on and we loved it. p.s. The Cadillac full of Cannabis Connaisseurs were the best.
Dumb A$$ watched it 1974
One of the,if not the best car chase ever put on film. Brilliant.
Was a shame when H. B. Halicki died doing one of his own stunts for the sequel to this.
that's the life of a stuntman.
yeah thats was in the movie "The junkman" if i remember right
@@sleepysnzno ot was gone in sixty seconds 2. Fast and the furious ripped of the slicer. There is a post on here of all the finished footage from sixty seconds 2.
@@uberdang830 sixty seconds 2 ???? Never heard of that movie. He died in the junkman which was the sequel to the original gone in 60 seconds. No idea where fast and furuios fits into all this but ok
@@sleepysnz Actually Deadline Auto Theft is the sequel to gone in 60 seconds.
This one is hard to beat. 🔥🔥🔥🔥
That mustang is like a Timex watch: takes a lickin' as it keeps on tickin'...
I seen this movie when it first came out. I also have it on VHS.
you have the best sound track !!! this one is the remix from the re release a few years ago .
H.B. Halicki (polish decsent)
This classic chase was done on s a sunday because the guy in charge of city / events bylaw wasn't working on Sundays .that off ramp pole incident was not planned . 15:11 Eleanor had nascar roll cage installed. That was Toby.
You know, if you think about it we really should thank the guy with the pink shirt at 5:25 cause if he hadn't moved out of the way when he did, the chase would've lasted for literally 4-5 minutes.
Oh God, it reminds us of those beautiful times
That’s gotta have at least a 100 gallon gas tank and the toughest and strongest tires I ever seen or heard of and that man can drive better than any other person .
In the day, they knew how to make cars without all the safety and computer control shit. Takes a licking and keeps on ticking sorry Times.
I have both of these movies on dvd and a diecast model of the mustang
Use to work at Slauson/Figueroa. Lived in Pasadena. My co-worker had a 74 Mustang.Looked just like this one. Drove just like that too
I like the way it’s like oh the movie is over? Lol
This Scene is so much better than the knock-off
The police dispatcher calls it a 73 Mustang. It is obviously a hybrid of some sort. 73 grill. 71/72 bumper, front lower valance w/ lights, and side paint scheme.
its a 71 made to look like a 73, they didnt have the budget to buy new 73s so they bought 71s the car that was wrecked there is still around and its brought around to big shows, still looks exactly like that
Reminds of Driver videogame 😎👌
Literally said the same shit
You are the wheelman...
OG before IG😂😂😂
The man's confidence is just like the mostang😂😂😂
Great movie 😊
Amazing stereo sound of chase!!!
I remember getting this on DVD back in 2003, and I was like "What?" The only Gone In 60 I knew about was the 2000 version. Regardless, this whole sequence -- as hurtful as it is to see these Classics get wrecked, is low-key GOATED as far as movie chases go.
The picture is so clear 💙👍💯
35mm film and a good transfer.
Hi have a good time ,AMAIZING FILME ,great memories wen l was a child, speed, emotions, great MUSTANG,TIME TO TAKE A SEAT AND ENJOY ,THANK YOU.YOUR FRIEND OSCAR FRANCISCO.
He didn't even have permits to film this movie, all the 500 plus cars were owned by H.B Halicki, this was the only movie that was 100% funded by the maker, all the stunts were done with zero permits including driving through the crowded parks and all the crashes, when he took out the light pole on the L.A Freeway he just took off up the ramp like it was supposed to happen, it was all in the extras on the dvd that sold @ Walmart 15 yrs ago. Best movie I ever found in the $5 bins besides Vanishing Point and and a few others.
Thumbs Up ! Always love your videos. Thanks for the great movies that will always be remembered.
Just ONE More thing..By far the best chase car movie of all time. I grew up in LA where they filmed most of this. Back then the Harbor Freeway was the (11) not the (110) as it is today. You can definitely say that -“ Eleanor” was one FORD that truly was F-irst O-n R-ace D-ay..lol
30 minute high speed chase and that car never runs out of gas
Or flat tyres
Also, amazingly, it started right up, and never stalled.
The stunt driver had serious back injuries after that jump.
Mustang is coolest car
That nice blue SATILITE !
Non esiste niente di meglio. Questo è il più grande inseguimento della storia del cinema
When he hit that pole it knocked the hell out of him and put him in the hospital
The original movie with Nicklas Cage Eleanor was a 1967 SHELBY. That car and chase scene have a lot more class than the remake.
The original movie is this one .Get it right .
I like that year mustang
Which year? 😄
@@kmart0017 Funny question.. Wow Lets keep this really simple for you lets see to find out what year the car is you could read the title of the video or actually even watch the video to find out.. But hey lets stick with the extra simple answer direct your sight towards the title of the video slowly not to strain yourself
@@theestablishmenta7903 It’s not that simple: Both 1971 Mustang Sportsroofs used in the film (neither car has been proven to be a Mach 1, as often assumed) were bought in 1971, but as it was three years before Halicki could raise sufficient funds to start filming - each car was facelifted with 1973 grilles for the film (though each retain 1971 front bumpers, lower valances, and fenders).
As with the liberties taken with the body modifications, Halicki's paint scheme featured a unique blackout treatment to the lower bodyside, taillight panel, and standard hood; similar, but not identical to Ford factory offerings on the Mach 1 (and Exterior Decor Group on Sportsroofs) at the time. All identifiable badging spelling the "Mustang" name was removed, though the grille badge and "Ford Motor Company" hubcaps are visible in the film.
Yeah. 1971-1973.
Much better than the modern Nicolas Cage 60 Seconds👍😎
Excellent !!!
A movie for the car chase, by the car chase and of the car chase!🤘
I also seen it countless times when it first came out I was about 12 years old my dad took me to watch it with vanishing point the scene where he Clips the car on the freeway and then hits the light post he almost got killed on that one in real life I thought that was the greatest movie there ever was back then that and vanishing point both of them vanishing point was actually better but they were both great car movies definitely a classic
Viewer discretion advised. Over two hundred cars were hurt in the making of this film.
as a former member of a stunt team, this is THE best movie !
Dime a dozen or not back in the day or night it is still sad to see these classic cars being destroyed and even more sad in modern days.
That was awesome
upps GRANDMA got MAD !! that is funny 😅🤣
So many beautiful cars! If I had a time machine (IDC what people say, I want THE DeLorean) I'd love to go back to those days to drive those beauties day in and day out 😍💯❤

Great movie
Como decia Abraham Simpson "En mis tiempos las calles las pavimentavan con oro" con los efectos especiales se ahorran mucha lana en producción real y esta bien por que Cuantas bellezas al dehuesadero!!!
To FastCarsNoRules:
Those vertical lights in the grille are not the turning signals of the 73. Those are sport lamps. (As with the horizontal lamps in the grilles of the 1971 and 1972)
Mach 1s only had sport lamps.
The turning signals are below the front bumper attached to the front valance.... as with all Mustang models from 1964-1/2 to 1973.
That's not true actually. Those vertical lights in the grill are turn signals on the 73. 71-72 had the turn signals under the bumper, but for 73, the did away with the sport lamps and the under-the-bumper turn signals.
@@EtchTX as can be plainly seen several times in the first 5 minutes of the movie, why does Eleanor have the vertical lights in the grill as well as the lights below the bumper?
the cars are 71s he was broke and had to wait for over 2 years to make the movie so he put 73 parts on
