    I love the way you fixed my Mina 😭🥺 her eyes pop so much more and her skin is glowing 💖
    Thank you so much for the tips! I’m so used to rendering the face that I have a much harder time with other areas (especially on this drawing). That tip with using the the base of the skin for the teeth is something I never heard of. But I’ll try it when I get the chance!
    I actually tried to duplicate the whole piece, multiple it, and erase away certain part to bring more contrast... but I started to doubt myself and deleted it. I think I need to do more studies of the forms in black and white so the body doesn’t come out as flat.

    I'm new here and I just gotta say, every time a drawing came up I thought to myself "yeah that's fine I guess" but then you'd add these subtle changes and I almost felt my eyes relaxing and suddenly I'm like "I want to kiss this drawing it's so good!"

    • @overgrownkudzu
      @overgrownkudzu 10 місяців тому

      i mean most of the pictures he gets are already really good, they are clearly done by people who know what they're doing and not beginners. there's just these little tweaks, that's why critique is so useful. you become blind to your own work and mistakes, while someone else spots it immediately.

  • @poicyy

    with the painting of the girl with the flower a like fun eye anatomy thing is that the iris is actually concave, so when there are light sources really close to the eye the shadows work kinda the opposite to how you'd expect, the brightest part of the eye is the furthest away from the light source.
    (think of like shining a flashlight on a bowl, the darkest part of the bowl would be the closest to the flashlight while the light would hit the other side)
    so with like angles where the light source is right below the eyes the way the iris will work is actually that the top part will much likely catch more light while the bottom will be darker, if u want an example of this google 'ghost story flashlight face'

    • @poicyy
      @poicyy 3 роки тому +1

      aaaaand the like bright white highlight would stay mostly where they are because theyre reflecting off of the gel squshy eye part not the iris, it looks neat in photos cause its like immediate contrast

    Mistakes we need to work to fix ^^ ( I suggest still watching the video, visuals in art are important and he expands on good points :))
    - repetitive clothing folds
    have areas of density and areas of rest
    - saturation in shadows
    desaturate shadows
    - anatomy and proportion in relation to perspective
    - focal points
    - don’t over do the lighting and make sure you bring it into where you want the focal point
    - make sure other elements in the peice dont conflict with each other
    - hue shifts in the face
    - colour theory
    - literal interpretations of colours
    - make sure your colours relate to your lighting
    - silhouette
    - make sure your shape language is on point
    Tips
    - white of the teeth and eyes= highlights of the skin tones
    If you have anything to add go ahead and reply it, so Ik what Im missing! :)

    Another thing to keep in mind, for the last painting, the cast shadow of the fence is extremely dark, we have to remember that there is always reflected light hitting those shadows areas unless there is no light source it is extremely difficult to end up with such a dark value.
