I love the way you fixed my Mina 😭🥺 her eyes pop so much more and her skin is glowing 💖
Thank you so much for the tips! I’m so used to rendering the face that I have a much harder time with other areas (especially on this drawing). That tip with using the the base of the skin for the teeth is something I never heard of. But I’ll try it when I get the chance!
I actually tried to duplicate the whole piece, multiple it, and erase away certain part to bring more contrast... but I started to doubt myself and deleted it. I think I need to do more studies of the forms in black and white so the body doesn’t come out as flat.
Was yours the first illustration? If so, that one was my fave, I like your style. :3
@@JamesLacroixx Yup, Mina is the first girl. She’s from Boku no Hero Academia, an anime.
I'm a fan of the composition of your facial features.
The teeth ended up kinda rough croocked but I get that he was just setting an example on color and not form and was very loose with that to save time
@@JamesLacroixx Yes it was ☺️ Thank you! It was a redrawing of an older picture, so I’m proud of my improvement but There’s things I still need to work on.
they way sinix is the dad figure to us is so universally unspoken lmaooo
He' s not that old.
Is he?
@@ZombieBobSponge dunno but regardless every tome art dad uploads a video I’m here for it
He's like a supportive teacher with infinite patience. How much better a dad one could possibly wish for?
@@ZombieBobSponge he’s 37 so I guess he’s a young dad
I learn a lot from these paintovers
I'm new here and I just gotta say, every time a drawing came up I thought to myself "yeah that's fine I guess" but then you'd add these subtle changes and I almost felt my eyes relaxing and suddenly I'm like "I want to kiss this drawing it's so good!"
i mean most of the pictures he gets are already really good, they are clearly done by people who know what they're doing and not beginners. there's just these little tweaks, that's why critique is so useful. you become blind to your own work and mistakes, while someone else spots it immediately.
with the painting of the girl with the flower a like fun eye anatomy thing is that the iris is actually concave, so when there are light sources really close to the eye the shadows work kinda the opposite to how you'd expect, the brightest part of the eye is the furthest away from the light source.
(think of like shining a flashlight on a bowl, the darkest part of the bowl would be the closest to the flashlight while the light would hit the other side)
so with like angles where the light source is right below the eyes the way the iris will work is actually that the top part will much likely catch more light while the bottom will be darker, if u want an example of this google 'ghost story flashlight face'
aaaaand the like bright white highlight would stay mostly where they are because theyre reflecting off of the gel squshy eye part not the iris, it looks neat in photos cause its like immediate contrast
I love this series so much. It’s immensely inspiring to see what you can do with every piece. It really makes me see things differently.
The last painting, I-
It's ridiculous, you did such an amazing job
damn the way you were able to effortlessly make every painting better was impressive as hell
paintovers are the real example that keep on studing all the painting/drawing fundamentals are very important, thank you Sinix for all these classes
It's like watching magic happen lol.
yess omg soo helpful but sooo entertaining
wake up babe, sinix uploaded

Your paint overs are always so cool and fun to watch
Mistakes we need to work to fix ^^ ( I suggest still watching the video, visuals in art are important and he expands on good points :))
- repetitive clothing folds
have areas of density and areas of rest
- saturation in shadows
desaturate shadows
- anatomy and proportion in relation to perspective
- focal points
- don’t over do the lighting and make sure you bring it into where you want the focal point
- make sure other elements in the peice dont conflict with each other
- hue shifts in the face
- colour theory
- literal interpretations of colours
- make sure your colours relate to your lighting
- silhouette
- make sure your shape language is on point
Tips
- white of the teeth and eyes= highlights of the skin tones
If you have anything to add go ahead and reply it, so Ik what Im missing! :)
Thank you so much for the paintover and feedback! Super helpful for my work moving forwards and much appreciated :)
this guy is so friendly sounding!! Mr. Sinix, i've never watched you before but i think i'm going to go on a binge of this series! glad i found it on EP 13! you've earned a new sub as i learn about art! :D
My favourite series by Sinix.
I love this series! came here straight away even though it's 3am.
You were in my dream is that weird? 😬 you’d had your arm replaced with a robot arm to be able to draw forever without getting long term injuries and you were like the first person ever to do it so it was all over the news and I was like oh yeah I follow that dude!
hahahah thats cool af
These are so good for learning. A lot learning art for me is learning what not to do and how to fix it, these are perfect for that!
I thought with the moon girl the easiest solution would have been to give her a turtle neck. Maybe dull down the light a bit so the underside of the petals would be more visible.
“Overwatch-levels of depth” omegalul
i’ve learned so much from your videos! I always thought to become a successful artist you would have to go through yEARS of art school, but ever since I discovered your channel you completely proved me wrong! I improved so much this year thanks to you, and I really appreciate you for that :)) Thank you Sinix!
i love paint over pals
This advice is more valuable than gold
The two videos I watched before this were one about writing atmospheric shaders and then one about 3D animation workflows. Maybe I am learning too much haha
Wake the f*ck up samurai, we’ve got a Sinix video to watch.
I’m so happy you’re back Sinx 🤧🥺💃
This is the best content in UA-cam by far
MY god this is awesome!
Ohhh the point about folds and where faces line up was particularly helpful😯
This is exactly what I needed before going to bed. ❤
LETS GOOO NEW PAINTOVER PAL
new sinix video 🚨🚨
For the last one, that really dark shadow running across the bottom third boundary was really distracting and threw off the entire value contrast of the image. Maybe that required some redefining?
really funny at the end with the unsightly bum fix! =)
I was literally just looking at your channel to see if you uploaded earlier today. Always great to see a new video
i absolutely love this series
this is one of my favorite series on youtube
I love the overall color/value changes in the last one!
9:35 I feel like the ears are missing
10:10 perhaps overlapping the torso with the head and making the head smaller as well would give a stronger sence of foreshortening, making it more dynamic.
I love these videos so much, please don't stop making them :)
super awesome video! i loved it so much, i like the commentary and improvements you do alot
Sinix is extremely underrated. Thank you master!
The man himself he’s back

Delaying bedtime just for Sinix.
Yes!
nice!!
I was literally just watching the #12 Haha
SINIX UPLOADEDDD POGGG
i made it 100 likes yey
00:59 - funny thing about textures and details, you don't really need them in shadows and highlights, you can leave them in mid-tone and the object will still feel like textured...
Another thing to keep in mind, for the last painting, the cast shadow of the fence is extremely dark, we have to remember that there is always reflected light hitting those shadows areas unless there is no light source it is extremely difficult to end up with such a dark value.
🔥
SINIX IS ALIVE. I REPEAT, SINIX IS ALIVE.
this is awesome. sub!
finalllyyyy 💖💖💖
Who are the artists from 7:37 and 13:15?? I love their paintings.
Let’s goooo
My man

i liked the video before the intro finished
Hey @SinixDesign, did you paint the teeth with skin tone because of the ambient light that reflects from the lips?
Thanks papa
