In most cases no, however if the hair is very damaged by heat that also breaks down bonds and it could be useful. But if that's not the case there are many other conditioning methods that would be more helpful. Bond builders are primarily for bleach damage/chemical damage.

Olaplex is a bond builder. Cer-100 is a protein conditioner that doesn’t help damaged hair. It smoothed your cuticles for a bit but then goes right back to being damaged
I probably wouldn’t leaving olaplex #3 in your hair that long. It is professional strength products and leaving it in that long can actually cause damage to your hair then heal it. Similar to dermatologist doing a chemical peel, where a perfect time helps your skin but going to long with damage and burn your skin. I would probably be do 2 hours at the longest. Just giving you a heads up.
If you want to be hardcore, put your hair in a bun, wrap it in plastic wrap (it stops working when it dries out), and wear around the house for a few hours before washing out.
It stops working after max. 45 min. even when its not dry. That's the maximum time the reaction is going on and it can even be faster when the hair is not as damaged
@@Orangeyougladx3 Olaplex works when it’s better damp hair not dry hair, because it helps penetrates the hair better. Any idea why Olaplex causes hair loss? I used for a couple months (didn’t wash every day) and it caused my hair to fall out. I have fine hair - and did have a lot of it.
I can't use shampoos or conditioners with ANY protein or glycerin. It's hard to go without glycerin-i have bleached hair. But I use Great Value Products knock off of Paul Mitchell Tea Tree Oil. Any time I used anything with protein caused my hair to be dry and knotted up with BREAKAGE. Eat more protein in your diet and sleep. Lower your caffeine. I will not touch Olaplex.

My hair stylist told me olaplex isn’t for everyone that’s why it doesn’t work for everyone . and she also said it is for thicker hair . honestly, all different olaplex steps did absolutely nothing on my hair even though I used them in the right order😂 she recommended kérastase instead .
what is the best for dry frizzy colored damaged hair? 3 or 4?
3
It helps with damage repair only. It doesn’t hydrate or moisturize. Don’t forget rinse out conditioner and leave in spray conditioner.
Neither there all causing severe hair loss
@@nikkiturner8431 Mamy people are also losing hair after having Covid.
Use only number 3. The other things are "buy my products" but you don't need them really (maybe the oil). Shampoo well, n3 (1 hour), conditioner and style as usual. Use any other product you normally use (from any brand).
I like to apply a deep conditioning hair mask before the conditioner as Olaplex is not a hair mask that will hydrate or nourish hair (my holy grail Kerastase Oil Relax).
What I do:
Detox shampoo once, then nr 3 for 15-45 minutes, only one wash with conditioning ingredients like Extreme by Redken and a conditioner.
Best results ever!
I personally think olaplex is a waste of money. it did not do anything for my hair.
@em ah I see. Fortunately Olaplex works great for my hair but i only use #3 like twice a month, and 6 once a weekish and the oil everytime i wash
@em it didnt a year ago. Big frizz ball and split ends
ok but does the olaplex shampoo really clean or does it have moisturizing compounds? the conditioner or step 3 works for me at all

I think the shampoo is amazing. It lathers a ton! It is highly concentrated. Yes it is very very moisturizing but it does make my hair feel clean
Why does it say the opposite on the product?
Would there be a reason to use olaplex at all if you have virgin hair?
Yes, when it has heat damage or just "poor" hair care. If you have frizz and/split ends, give it a try
In most cases no, however if the hair is very damaged by heat that also breaks down bonds and it could be useful. But if that's not the case there are many other conditioning methods that would be more helpful. Bond builders are primarily for bleach damage/chemical damage.
You can definitely use on virgin hair. I do because I have really long hair, sun damage and helps me out. But I wouldn’t use #3 as often, probably once every 2-3 weeks would be fine.
i have heat damage and my hair is just naturally bad so i really like it
Wait so i should shampoo before and after using olaplex?
Confused about this too. Hopefully someone clarify because I thought you only shampoo at the beginning.
@@amyseaden9069 yes. Believe me this will work. First shampoo your hair to remove all the buildup and the products and then use olaplex no3 on dump towel dried hair and leave it at least 30 minutes. Then shampoo and condition as normal. This is the right way to apply olaplex no 3
@@amyseaden9069 I've been using olaplex for a long time and this is the best way to do it. If you don't shampoo afterwards your hair feels kind of dry and sticky. Also, it's not moisturizing so it's important to add moisture back into your hair after the treatment
@@Boudicaisback I always shampoo after the olaplex but only wet my hair before I put in the olaplex 3. Will try this new method.

Do I see extensions in your hair ?
I use the oìl im not paying 30 dollars a bottle ive seen a friend have hair loss due to the products i never had a problem with the oil 100 some dollars to lose hair and ladies it disnt happen right away so be. Careful with it
The back of the bottle does not say to put it on clean hair 🤔
If your hair is sensitive to protein use #3 every 2 weeks😉
Olaplex doesn’t contain protein so
You can use as much as needed
It does not have protein but it has panthenol which acts as a protein to some protein sensitive people. I can not use it as it makes my hair brittle. I can only use 0 for that reason.
I don’t shampoo after I put olaplex I just rinse
Try the cer-100 collagen mask it's way cheaper and I find it has the same result as olaplex
Olaplex is a bond builder. Cer-100 is a protein conditioner that doesn’t help damaged hair. It smoothed your cuticles for a bit but then goes right back to being damaged
She did a video on this vs olaplex
It is the bomb. I love it.
I used this only once I swear my hair already looks better
It also doesn’t suit low porosity hair
I leave it for almost 24 hours. I have thick, dry hair. After olaplex 3+6 it's incredibly soft and easy to strengthen (I have curly hair).
@@lunagrace2872 olaplex customer service has said its fine to even leave in overnight. It stops working after 45 mins anyway and wont harm the hair.
@@cozyrosie how do you know this? I haven’t seen any tests about that
Olaplex claims that no. 3 stops working after 45 minutes
@@Orangeyougladx3 Olaplex works when it’s better damp hair not dry hair, because it helps penetrates the hair better. Also olaplex is a professional grade strength, so leave it on the hair longer then attended it can actually cause damage to your hair then heal it. (Similar to professional chemical peels)
Huh so shampoo twice?
Isn't olaplex being sued at the moment???
Yes.
Olaplex has saved my hair
Thank you
Oh shoot I’m supposed to shampoo after? No wonder
This includes number 3?
This is for N3
@@MissYesBell thx!
That's not what the directions say tho
Any idea why Olaplex causes hair loss? I used for a couple months (didn’t wash every day) and it caused my hair to fall out. I have fine hair - and did have a lot of it.
Ingredients?
How often did you use olaplex number 3?
I can't use shampoos or conditioners with ANY protein or glycerin. It's hard to go without glycerin-i have bleached hair. But I use Great Value Products knock off of Paul Mitchell Tea Tree Oil. Any time I used anything with protein caused my hair to be dry and knotted up with BREAKAGE. Eat more protein in your diet and sleep. Lower your caffeine. I will not touch Olaplex.
What number olaplex you talking about??
I’m surprised at the number of ppl who didn’t realize #3 is for clean damp hair and not dirty dry hair

Yes, olaplex no 3
Why would she know better than that manufacturers?!
@@amandadvr Actually several people have reached out to them, and olaplex confirmed this is the right way to use their products. Their instructions need to be updated.
True
Olaplex doesn't work for anyone who has dry hair. Or whose hair doesn't respond well to silicone. Overpriced silicone
This is zero use unless you specify WHICH OLAPLEX PRODUCT AT EACH STEP 🤦♀️

People with bleach blonde hair who don't want it to break off 😊

There are multiple olaplex #’s available. Which number is this? We aren’t all experts at olaplex! Please be more clear next time.
She means olaplex n3 :)

I’ve been doing it wrong for a while I guess
Hi
Without the olaplex 0 you can’t achieve it’s full potential. The 0 formula works like a primer for the hair and helps a lot
Hair dressers with far more experience state that no.3 does the majority of the heavy lifting and no.0 is only if you can afford it but isn't necessary.
Um, Olaplex is a brand. I have no clue which product is being used after the shampoo. 😂
#3
TURN OFF THE TAP WHEN YOU ARE APPLYING THE PRODUCT/MASSAGING IT. YOU ONLY NEED THE WATER WHEN YOU ARE WASHING IT OUT.
Why is the water running the whole time? 😩
Shampoo again?
Yeah, that seems like a lot of shampooing.
She shampoos her hair twice, I don't find it a lot

All right, thank you. But what brand is it that you need to use another brand before it 🤦♀️So before I use the Olaplex treatment which is meant to be used "before" shampoo, I need to shampoo the hair first??? Then go with the treatment and then shampoo again?
Whattt?
I even do not use shampoo as a curly girl.
Just saying.
Olaplex is expensive and now it requires to use some plus products? Then it is not effective itself! Simply put - you end up with some expensive and time consuming washing, using 10 products and spending 3 hours.
That's ridiculous 🙄💊
You don't have to pre shampoo but I will say it works better than way. You can use any shampoo doesn't have to be olaplex brand
