@@Golfing-AddiCt Thy are very nice! On average my new clubs are 9 yards longer than my old Ping G15s. I am 67 so I went with the MMT 55 senior flex shaft with lamkin sonar grips. I am tall , went with the max 2 degree up lie. Feel great! Hit shots out on the toe and still got good distance. Have to keep the tee a bit lower, otherwise the can go very high and lose distance. Also not bad out of the rough. Just ordered 19 degree JPX925 Fli-hi hybrid .
Yet another quality in depth review. Best on the internet. Why you are not getting multiples of current views is beyond me? The heat map takes it to another level.😎
Simply the best. Data driven and honest. Picked up a 7 iron just to try it in comparison to my Cleveland XL Halo Full Face (why do these names keep getting longer and longer??). Amazing difference in feel and once I adjust for the loft differences the HL is going to be what's in my bag for next year given our winter is setting in here in Wisconsin. Might even get gutsy and add a 6 iron this time around...
Jay, this is the video I've been waiting to see and you've done it, thank you so much for the hard work and the hard effort that you put into making these videos for us. Much appreciated.!!
Add me to those who express gratitude for your hard, detailed work in testing clubs at different speeds that more accurately reflect the skill levels of most golfers. I am 83 and belong to the 70mph group. It is totally irrelevant for me to see what some much younger much faster pro or scratch handicap tester can do with any club. You have done a service in showing that swing speed is king, and descent angle is critical. Just look at all the fun 80mph and 90mph players can have with either of these irons in terms of stopping on the green. What your demo also underscores is that I can get the same marginally better and more consistent carry and descent angle with either of these 31 degree 7 irons that I can get with my 31 degree forged blade 6 iron. So for me, and perhaps others in the 70 mph class as well, what you have helped to make clear is that the decision may not be as much whether to buy a game improvement iron like either of these, but instead to consider a similarly lofted hybrid or fairway wood. Because the center of mass is located further back from the face, either one should give a higher peak and greater descent angle that we can get with an iron. You have demonstrated clubs from Eleven Golf that makes a full set of hybrids all the way to PW. And oddly enough, I just saw an ad on UA-cam from a company in Oregon state called Pinemeadow Golf that makes Yukon shallow face fairway woods from 3 to 15, with lofts from 13 to 37 degrees, with incredibly low prices. You can order them online with shaft choices from ladies to X stiff and standard to +1.5 inches I can't vouch for them of course, but it does show there are options out there.
Now that's a really interesting option. I'm a great advocate of fairway woods and their functionality and advantages over hybrids and the hybrids over the irons... Every stage is a win. I'm really glad the work I put in is appreciated. I would really like YT to push it to a greater audience so that the view revenue would make it worth doing 😐😐👍👍
Don’t usually comment on videos but I would like to say thank you very much for this video. I’ve been holding off buying the JPX 925 HL’s and was waiting for you to compare the old and new versions. I was right to wait for your comparison and you’ve done a magnificent job. Keep up the good work.
Thanks very much, the edit was a massive job and took ages to complete with all the graphics etc. Hope the video does well enough views wise to justify the time ....... fingers crossed 🙂👍
Mizuno have done an amazing job on the new JPX 925 Irons with their Forgiveness Update, they could have just jacked the loft and claimed it was longer.... Really glad they didn't 👍
Absolutely agree on this one 😊 I knew this one was most probably not going to get the views it should do as the HL irons are not as mainstream as the rest of them, but I felt it was important that I did the compare and also did it in a way that it wasn't click baity and focused on the real objective differences between the two options 👍 glad you enjoyed the video 👍
Watched this again, dispite the fact that the 923's are now considerably cheaper now, I think the 925's are definitely worth the extra £££, so they are definitely in the frame for a purchase, but I'm very interested in a comparison between the 925's and the new Forged irons when they come out.... Exciting times, dispite having to wait for the Forged release.
Another fantastic informative video Jay. I have the 923hl mainly for hitting longer clubs into greens and getting the ball to stop. 72 years old 75mph drivrr vlub head speed.
I wasn't expecting that big of a difference. That is a crazy amount of forgiveness. Love the heat maps overlay on the face of the iron that gives a great representation of the forgiveness. Does this forgiveness continue through the HM and HM pro?
It's a Pro Plus Cart Bag from Vice Golf 👍 www.vicegolf.co.uk/products/vice-golf-cart-bag-pro-plus?gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwsoe5BhDiARIsAOXVoUvWmbIeW5xZAZR-sME-4aV8wSpTLXwM4xxtTrqxe2qOPiuU6JUzi20aAib9EALw_wcB
I'm playing 923 forged now, but after a year of playing less golf , i think its time to grt fitted for 925 HL. Heatmap screams "you're covered anywhere"
I currently game the JPX 921 HMPro. I recently had a chance to sample the JPX 925 HMPros. To me, the 925's didn't have the feel of my 921's and they sounded quite "clicky", like what I've experienced with Taylormade or Titleist irons. As a long-time Mizuno player, I have to say I was disappointed. They didn't provide the sound and feel I've come to expect from Mizuno.
Been gaming the 925 HL's since 10/1 and so far all 4 rounds have been in the 70's averaging a 77.5. My handicap is at a 5.6 which is my lowest ever. Really enjoying them. Just wished the Swing Weight was a little lower. Mine came in at a D3 and being a slower swinger I prefer more around a D0/D1 in my 6i. I shortened them 1/4" which did bring it down 2 around a D1.
@@andy_bickley Very true, but usually to get a heavier grip you have to go up in size and I have very small hands (Mens Cadet Small glove). and dont really want the overall weight of the club to increase. when I ordered, I know Mizuno has A, B and C heads with different weights. I should have asked for the slightly lighter ones. Not a big deal though as I am hitting them well
Great review Jay. Are the 925 Pro and 925 HM correspondingly more forgiving than the 923 Pro and HM, or is the improved machining of the face only on the 925 HL? I sure like your heat mapping of the faces.
Being honest I don't have the legacy heat maps for the JPX923 Hot Metal Irons but can say from experience that what we see in the HL video translates directly to that of the rest of the JPX923's. No extra gains in Performance between old and new however substantial forgiveness gains 👍
I have all the current irons that I have reviewed in heat map form and in the Master Compare spreadsheet available for all my UA-cam Members to access at their leisure on my Discord (link in the description) 👍
Currently playing the 923 HMP. Distance is massive (80mph 7 iron). Wanting more height / spin / stop. Dont know whether to game these or wait for the 925 forged. Play off 4 strike isnt an issue.
Playing off of 4 you are doing pretty well currently, but if you want a little bit more height and spin, have you thought about asking to get your current irons weakened as much as they possibly can (being cast that may only be 1 or max 2 degrees) 👍
I don’t own a mizuno club and never have. I have always owned ping clubs, but I am looking to get a set of mizuno clubs. Club head speed is almost 70 so I thought the HL would be a good fit, I need lots of forgiveness so I’m thinking the 925 HL. Would you agree with that? Thank you
Very much so or a max lofted set of HM Pros as they are actually like for like slightly more forgiving than the HL. At 70mph with the right loft you could think about 7 iron down to wedges and then go into hybrids or Direct Long Iron Replacement heads 👍
Being a lefty its hard for me to try clubs but managed to have a go with a srixon zx4 today and was hitting it 210 carry (85mph club/127 ball) i am one of those players that needs the help but doesnt want the crazy distance. I will be travelling down to left handed golf soon can you recommend a shortlist for me to try along with these?
I really really feel for the lefties.... I myself and left handed but changed to right handed when I was young..... Best decision I ever made although it was difficult to begin with..... Very difficult 👍
@AskGolfNut worst thing is I'm not actually left handed! Just 2 handed sports like golf/cricket I play lefty everything else I'm right hand dominant. Horrible for a golf swing as I pull from the top
@Ahogg1992 it can be incredibly difficult to find equipment when you are left handed. Not all models are available and then also most equipment on the racks in shops and pro shops are right handed... I'm so glad I switched when I was young 😊👍
Next year I will be 75 and looking forward to upgrading my clubs. I presently play ping i500 but obviously I’m starting to see drop of in distance and launch as I’ve aged. I will be fitted ( I live in Canada) and these mizunos are looking good ? I obviously need to be moving to a game improvement iron and one that will help me as I hopefully continue to age going forward. I will also be looking at ensuring a fit for shafts and problem mixing in hybrids at the top end. Do you have any thoughts ? I played mizunos many years ago but I’m looking really for guidance for the best game improvement iron? I’m currently sitting at a 15 handicap
Hi Geoff, remember Game Improvement Irons aren't always that improving especially with the strengths of loft at reducing speeds. These specific issues are what the HL irons were designed for.... Gives you all the help in Forgiveness but with maximum help getting the ball in the air to assist with some extra carry and above all, extra distance but with much better and controllable flight to it. Makes sure you get fitted for the correct shaft and it could be a win win scenario 👍
@@AskGolfNut great advise and very much in line with what was thinking, great videos by the way, love the comparisons at different speeds. Keep up the great work. Helps us guys sift through the pr statements and look at real numbers. Geoff
