I'll stay with my 921 Forged. I still have my MP5 s also and other the JPX being more forgiving, the MP5 8 iron, for example, is the same as the JPX 9 iron in loft and length too. I agree on your comment about the lofts getting cranked up more and more.
Thanks for this one! 👍 Was curious to see the comparison, but based on the reviews and talks in the members weekly clubhouse, it was much as expected. I could always use moore forgiveness 😅 but my exellent 923HMP's stays in the bag.
Nice comparison Jay. I'm actually a little surprised that the 925 was noticeably more forgiving than the 923. Having gone from the 923 HMP to the MP 245 I honestly didn't see a place for the HMP because the 245 was almost as forgiving but also looks, feels, and sounds as well has has more loft. But with the added forgiveness perhaps they will overlap a little less. I remember watching your 923 vs 245 from ~6 months ago and commenting about how little difference there was between the two. If you have time, a 925 HMP vs MP 245 would be great to showcase.
I think getting the 925HMP to this level of forgiveness really gives people who play 245 or 243 something to play at the top of the bag that is smaller and more workable but extremely forgiving. especially if they aren't a hybrid player.
@@andy_bickley That's a good point. I have MP 245 up to 5 iron, and then after that I have a 19* Mizuno ST-Max 3 hybrid. The 925 HMP 4 iron is also 19*, so that could very likely fill that same spot in the bag.
Interesting to see that launch angle is the same between the two model. I would be thinking that the tungsten weight would have generated a higher launch on the 925.
Kind of, they are designed to have a little more in the way of help due to the i530 being a Players Distance iron. Commonly you could see the HMPs being used blended in a longer iron level. 👍🏻
Thanks for the video, very interesting. Would you generally say the 925s warrant an upgrade over the 825 pros? I’ve had the 825s for over ten years and was wondering how different they are? Thank you
Absolutely would say it is very well worth testing the new 925s especially if you have the 825 irons. A lot has changed over the models so you'd most likely see more consistent off centre performance and a little extra ball speex like for like loft 👍
Seems 923 HMP may have CG closer to the toe while 925 HMP may have CG more centered with higher MOI and hotter face with slightly better slot tech. It's getting very tough to design better clubs.
Just be wary of the lofts, we'll see if there is any distance variances past what teh difference in lofts are between them both, about half an iron so if we can match those up we should see hopefully a higher flight but similar carry distance to that of the 245. We'll know more when I do the video 👍🏻
Counter to marketing actually the Pro is more forgiving than the standard HM. Must be something to do with how the technology functions around the slightly smaller chassis. But all the heatmaps show the HMP to be the most forgiving iron out currently. 👍
Jay.. love your techy comparisons !..As a serious geezer and a Mizuno fitter, I hv both 921Pro, 923HL, and a new ST Max 28* hybrid in the 28.5-28* loft slot. Serious geezers are VERY slow swingers. Hv 925 Pros on order. For me it’s the visual of less offset and the acoustics that create comfort over the ball. The ST Max outperforms all !.. About 1.5” longer club; same shaft weight; higher CLUB MOI.. but about 15-20yds longer. Slower swing speed guys.. look at the whole ST Max hybrid lineup. 😎
Nice, the comparison I was looking towards from you. Thanks for the great content!
Glad it was helpful and glad you liked it 👍
Yet another exceptionally thorough review ❤❤ I’ll be switching from 923HLs to these and gain distance, way less offset, and perhaps more fade bias 👍
Thanks Jay will stay with my 923 hmp
Same club just more forgiveness 👍
Thanks for this comparison. It would be nice to see the HL matchup as well.
Depending on the amount of likes and requests for it, I'll happily do a compare 👍🏻

Always top-notch comparisons. Would love to see the 925 HM Pro vs Callaway Smoke AI. Both with a mid - weight shaft and medium swing speed.
Great stuff as always. Any plans for an old vs new JPX 925 HL vs JPX 923 HL video?

Hi Will, good news the HMP vs Pro 245 is already on the list to do 👍🏻

Love my Hot Metal Pro 923. Won’t be leaving my golf bag anytime soon
Great review....would you say these are fairly comparable to the I530's? I am torn between those two sets.

My 921 HMP still rules. I should have bought two sets.
The law of diminishing returns applies to everything..,,well except marketing.
Absolutely, all the more important to have reviews with verifiable data to cut through the claims and truly see how equipment performs 👍

You are spot on there with reference to the CG location change and how it has given more of a balance to the forgiveness from it's predecessor 👍🏻
Do you think you could combo the 925 HMP with the 245 Pro? I was thinking 4-7 HMP, and 8-G 245 Pro.
Have planned to do a 245 vs HMP video... Also I'll talk about it's blending possibilities 👍🏻

Awesome, looking forward to the video! Thanks for the response.
Is the hot metal more or less forgiving than the hot metal pro?

I think I’m going with the 925 HMP and sell my 921 HM forged…😊
