Jay, I think your forgiveness mapping of the face is one of the best innovations that I have seen in golf club reviews. For those of us who occasionally get the ball a little thin the HMP looks like it would give us a little extra help. Keep up the great work.

Great comparison! I have the MP 245 GW-5i all bent 2* weak, so my 5i is 26*. After that I go to the Mizuno ST-Max 230 3 hybrid set to 20*. I would love to test the 925 HM 4i against the 3h and see how they compare. I use tis club as a driving iron on some tees, as a 2nd shot on some par 5s, and a punch out club if I get in trees,
The 245s bent weak must be one for the best spec irons out there. Reduced offset, increased loft, great especially for higher swing speed and slow swing speed golfers who need either the launch or calmer distance benefits 👍
How would these 2 compare to the original HMB’s? I have them 4-PW and haven’t found anything to make me change. Even went full set HMB’s as even the scoring clubs performed better for me than going for a mixed set. Appreciate your thoughts?
There was only an incremental update between the original HMB and the 225, however the 245 was quite a step up in Tungsten from that of the 225 so low strikes are more forgiving and also has pretty darn decent launch numbers for it's loft delivery. It may well be worth testing the new 245s against your current gamers, worse case scenario is that there isn't sufficient tangible differences to justify the expense, either way you'll know how much better the 245 irons are for you 👍
Just found your channel and think you're doing an excellent job. I was looking at getting the Takomo 101 or 101t irons, but also have hit the Mizuno JPX925 HM Pro and go on really well with them. Would you say the Takomo 101t is closer to the Mizuno Pro 245 than the HMP? Thanks
The 101T is closer to the 243 than the 245 it terms of ball flight. it is hollow bodied but at 32° its not exactly a bomber. You can compare the heatmaps , advanced club data and more via discord and different level AGN membership.
It's the amount of tungsten in the head. The 245 launches really well for it's loft and spins a touch less than it's expected loft and it's due to the vertical gearing from the low CG. 👍
The face heat map is fascinating. A great tool. It makes clear in this case that the Pro 245 is still for pros and single digit handicappers who never hit it far out on the toe and can consistently keep their strike within a 28mm or 1.1 inch horizontal by 14mm or 0.6 inch vertical sweet spot. That is basically the size of a US quarter horizontally and a US nickel vertically. Not very big. A regulation golf ball must be at least 1.68 inches or 42.67mm in diameter. So the Pro 245 sweet spot is not quite two thirds of a single golf ball wide and not quite one third of a golf ball high. The Hot Metal Pro sweet spot is 29-30mm wide and 42-43mm high (the green fades so a bit hard to tell exactly what the cutoff is) so much more generous vertically, which can help those who don't always hit ball first then ground as the pros do. Neither really likes the toe, but the drop off is definitely less for the HMP. Question: I see that each of those tiny numbers on the map is a percent, meaning percent drop in distance if hit there. Who establishes that with such precision? I can't believe someone, or more correctly some machine, hit the face in increments of exactly one mm to produce this incredible detail.
Hi John, without going into crazy amounts of detail, basically I hit a large dataset of shots all around the face and record the efficiency drops (and all other head data directly from GCQuad) and then with a small amount of maths to compensate for any small face to path discrepancies and also differences in loft etc, the efficiency drops are mapped across the face. Now obviously I don't hit every single data point but after enough of them and the larger the dataset the better, but a picture of drop off is slowly mapped across the face. Any differences between 2 data points is averaged off to give an understanding of how it works. On the discord server which is available for you to see for free as a member 👍 if shows the difference between Legacy and New datasets. The legacy datasets are restricted data and so the heat maps don't have the same accuracy resolution as the New massive datasets dumps that create the current heatmaps. The old ones are no where near the resolution of the new but still hold within a decent degree of accuracy True to its performance. The New heatmap reviews are in n much more detail and the degree of accuracy is much much tighter 👍
I'd like to see the titleist irons also but Titleist won't answer the damn phone or emails.... Thinking about carrier pigeon next time and see if that works 😂
Could you compare the 2021 HMPs vs the 2025 HMPs? Would be interesting to see if there really is a difference, what did 4 years of development bring? Obviously I have the 2021 version.
Any word on 925 forged and tour and what they may bring? I have the 923 forged and love them. I liked the 245 as well, but prefer non-hollow body feel. The 245 were the best feeling hollow body I've hit though.

Went to a Mizuno demo day yesterday, my swing wasnt really there so i didnt leave with the full details. The fitter and I did decide that I hit the 245 a ton better than all 3 of the Hot Metals which we were both surprised by. The Hot Metal heads are 'heavier than I'm used to' is kind of what we boiled it down to.
According to the data i have access too the HMP and the 245 are only 1gram apart in weight. Depending on what shaft were in each iron there may have been a swing weight difference which is what you felt.

I found similar results. I wanted to like the jpx since I wanted more forgiving game improvement irons, but the practice/demos were pointing towards the 245s. The hot metals(105 s300) felt heavy in the head where as the 245's(115 s300) felt the weight/balance in the shaft. Either way I found much better contact with the 245s where the the hot metals were all over the place. For reference I normally play mp18s with kbs 120.

I wish Mizuno would stop with the loft jacking. 30⁰ 7 iron for the 245 is unnecessary. Its direct competitors in the 770 and Apex pro are 33⁰. @RaidersGolf19 Hot metal pro would be the 790. Pro 245 is 770. HM pro for i530 too. It's kinda shows my point. Most golfers that need a 30⁰ 7 are going to go HM pro OR more forgiving. The 245 gets redundant at 30⁰ when it should be tailored for the guys in the i230, 770, apex pro, cobra tour, iron category.
@@adambarnes4191wrong. The hot metal pro is a much larger head than the p770. The hot metal pro aligns more with the qi10 game improvement irons in size and loft. Guys calm down 😊 the P770 is the baby brother to the P790 and also has most if not all the tech to the P790. The 245, i530 et al were designed at their similar lofts all around 30 degrees to compete with the market share of P790, of which both companies have done well. All of these irons within this range including the coming 925 Forged with the 925 HMP and 245 are bridging irons where golfers can with very few tweaks blend them seemlessly, they are designed to be fairly interchangeable so not to exclude any option... Remember we are all different and will get the benefits from not necessarily the sane equipment. I'm not a fan either of the continuation for stronger lofting, thats why I'm such a fan of the high launch concept. But let's all agree to disagree and have fun playing golf 👍👍👍👍👍👍
I’m sure the 925’s are fantastic irons that perform well but man are they ugly. Not typical Mizuno beauty’s. Glad I grabbed the 923’s when I did. Best irons I’ve ever had
Common feedback for the aesthetics of the new models.... Well on my channel anyways 😊 I've asked other people and they apparently haven't had anyone say anything about the looks.... Although they are trying to sell them 🤣👍
I will never understand why every content creator uses the same 7 iron on these videos when one 7 iron is 32 degrees and the other is 28 degrees…change clubs or adjust the length of the hole. Pretty simple

Looking forward to seeing your reviews in the future.
Holy shit that heat mapping is amazing. Heat map of 925-923’s? 👉🏼👈🏼🥹
Glad you enjoyed the new forgiveness graphic 👍
