I really like the lofts on these HL clubs. Im hitting an old JPX Forged set with the same lofts. Really like them! If I bend the HL 2 deg flat, will that take out some of the visible offset out? I’m sure I can adjust the club but was curious.
Bendign a club flat will not change the offset, adding loft to it will... but the trade off for this is increade bounce, it is a balance to get every aspect that you want.
Great review! IMO anyone of any swing speed who is looking for a game improvement iron should be looking at the Hot Metal HL over the standard Hot Metal. At 90+ MPH especially because the distance on the standard HM is just too far, you would be at or near 200 yards with the 7 iron which leaves massive gaps in the bottom of the bag and tighter gaps at 200+ yards where you don't need it. Zero people need a 7 iron less than 30 degrees.
We agree that height and stopping power are at least two of Cool Clubs key factors in an iron fitting! We think this will benefit a lot of golfers. Thanks for watching and participating in the conversation!
Guys, l love this analysis using the robot, have done a ratings for all the game improvement irons, I’m getting fitted next year and I’m overwhelmed with all the options would love to see a rating table for all the game improvement irons.
We do not have a chart that we give to the public but these comparisons are being input into our fitting software so if you come for a cool clubs fitting this data will be used to ensure the club matches your needs.
This club looks amazing . I’m an 8 hdc , I’m also looking at i230 but these numbers and that forgiveness, stopping power why would I or choose this club. Yes it big but what would be the negatives. My 7 iron swing speed is 80mph
The size of the club can offer a player confidence and there are some differences in the sole design that may benefit one over the other. Make sure you test them hitting from some turf!
These irons may be suitable for someone like me, who has a fast swing speed but a varied hitting point. I would also like to know the test results at 90 MPH.
These (and other HL) options will be worth a try in a fitting. The 90 mph test is currently aimed only at 1/4" off center hits but we will expand our testing later this year. Get into a fitting bay and test some of these products head to head. Worldwide Golf locations and Cool Clubs can assist. Remeber you can add more loft if you need even more spin, launch and bounce.
With the new weight placement we are seeing tighter dispersion front to back and left to right with some minimal stopping power improvments and barely any distance loss. There are reasonable improvements all round.
These are definitely aimed at slower mid handicap golfers. But, I’m 62, and just had an iron fitting. My 7 iron swing speed is 78 mph. 3 handicap. Anything less than 30* 7 iron did not spin enough, did not fly high enough, and had too low of a landing angle for me. I was fit into the Titleist T150. I always play better with a bigger, more forgiving looking iron. I’m looking forward to hitting these. ⛳️🏌🏽♂️
Great that you got into a fitting bay! Remeber most clubs can be bent to add more loft (yes, you get a little more bounce and a little less offset). Adding 2* loft could turn the larger style club you like into a super performer. Thanks for watching.
Graphite shafts are very easy to launch and stick on greens. Just have to be careful about swing weight. I play longer graphite shafts to get the swing weight up. Also less stooping over shots haha.
Good stuff guys. Glad to see the HL model included for testing
We think this should be a big performer this year! Thank you for watching.

What is the difference between the Hot Metal 923hl and 925hl. Your comments are appreciated
