This is exactly the video I was looking for. I was trying to figure out what colour blazer goes with my navy blue pants and learnt a whole lot more. Thanks for this.
Why is it so hard to find a video on which item's color is supposed to match which item? Like what do I color match the shoes to? The belt? The tie? Or even the handkerchiefs?
It’s not too hard. Belt always match shoes. Black shoes are more formal, brown shoes are more versatile. Pocket square closely matches the shirt, not the tie. (I like funky socks that complement the tie) Keep the ties simple and of a darker shade or hue than the shirt if a color (ex. Light blue shirt with solid navy tie). White shirt, try a navy, black, or deep red tie. Pick colors that complement your skin tone and your suit. Following these will unconsciously let people know you’re purposeful about the way you dress. But as always, rules were meant to be broken so experiment and have fun too.
Theres a guy in my city that does mentoring to young males with a troubled upbringing. I introduced him to your channel and he uses your videos to teach these young men fashion tips they'll need in their near future. Whether its correctly dressing for a job interview or a hot date to get (and keep) that lady they have their eye on. Just things young men need know that they may have missed out on with an absent father. I've even learned a lot as well. Thank you sir!!!
Jeff great info on how to maximize your wardrobe if you only have a few suits. You keep us abreast on how to use your clothes to its fullest potential.
Excellent video. I have a question, should the shoes match the pants or the jacket? For example if I wear dark grey jacket with black pants. Black shoes should be the only choice for a black suit but a dark gray suit allows for black or oxblood or dark brown shoes. So what colour shoes are appropriate ?
Great tips OG; the only thing I would add is that mixing and matching works even better when the suits are the same make/designer. The little details like matching buttons, pick-stitching color and coordinating linings are subtle but the eye catches them, even when we don’t realize is often the reason why some looks work and others don’t for reasons that we can’t quite figure out.
Today a lot of people are buying online so what about a striped or pinstriped jacket with a solid coloured pair of trousers (no jeans or khakis), or vice versa? What do you suggest? If plaids can work surely pinstripes can too.
Hey style O.G. Just wanted to say again that this was really helpful for me about mixing and matching.. I'm really excited and confident now about steppin out.....now, my next hurdle is finding a really good Tailor.
As always great video. I like how you mix and match. It does give me some great tips on how to maximize my wardrobe without spending much more. I like how you bring it. Your style is always on point. Thank you for sharing. Your channel is the bomb!!!
very classy. noticed that with everything you have done. you have helped me be a classier guy. please do a video on adding new purchases to an existing wardrobe. adding trendy items or just shopping in general. my biggest mistake has always been buying pieces that don't go with anything i already own.
I always suggest building with foundational pieces and then just have fun with trendy pieces but spend very little on them by getting them at fast fashion places such as Zara and H&M..
Wassup Bro? Question, what color is the tie you are wearing with the tan jacket and white shirt? Don’t know how I missed this video but this one will definitely step my style game up. Salute!
this looks good but unfortunately my navy suit is a lighter colour and my grey suit is a darker colour than what you have. this makes it look like i mismatched my suit because they look very similar.
My dilemma is... I bought a black suit jacket today that looks amazing but they don't match my black trousers that i already own (different fabrics) Can u get away with it or do I really have to go back and buy the matching trousers? It's for a funeral, thanks for the help!
I'm a big, bulky muscular guy. So my question is if I raise my hand with suit jacket, should the whole jacket rise up above my waist? I hate how restrictive the jackets feel but idk if this is normal. Last jacket I got was Ralph Lauren.
@@TheStyleOG I swear my jackets go pass my crotch.. I can check again though. Is a suit jacket supposed to feel like any other jacket? I've looked up some of these problems and it's said that buff men seldom can wear suits if the rack and usually have to buy tailored suits. Also I'm subscribing.
Thanks, G. Quick question for you when you get a minute. Is it ever ok to wear chucks with suits or blazer(I apologize if this has been covered already. I’m trying to get up to speed)? Proper color combination, of course.
Navy, Grey and then Tan is the smartest order you wanna knock suits off. Black is pretty stiff and there are far less occasions you really need one outside of renting one (which is smarter for tailoring reasons by the time you DO use it.) But that's just me. There's a reason why they say you either get married or buried in them but not much else.
Nice look book for them that wear different colors of suits.... what if you have a navy suit, a navy windowpane and a navy pinstripe, can you do the same ?
Great outfitsI like the mix match. U did great job as always. I'm going to reference to ur videos next time it requires me to throw on a suit so I can have swag like the style O.G lol
That third outfit with the wool pants and black wool tuxedo jacket was just killer. Love that look! On top of that, when you first stepped out in that look I thought that I might have finally found a solution to a problem,; finding a use for a black Bert Pulitzer (100% Polyester) sport coat that I bought years ago and spent $100 dollars having it tailored up this past summer. I didn't know enough at the time. Now " I think " I may have just wasted that money. I also just read that polyester is THEE worst fabric to wear, and that a black sport coat should be traded out for a navy or gray one. I don't know if you'll see this question, G,....but if you do, do you think that the 100% polyester black sport coat is a lost cause and charity bound?? Thanks Jeff.
Ahh....I was afraid of that. But thank you for the honest response. Hurts to lose money like that....but that's the cost of education, as they say. You live and learn. Thank you G. Happy New Year to you and yours, by the way...
What coloured shoes or jacket could I wear with a dark emerald green pair of trousers? I find myself having a really hard time finding inspirations because this colour just seems so rare
Hello brother. Where can I buy those exact pants (3rd one): the Glen Pat wool flannel trouser. I am trying to recreate that exact look. Great content. Thx
Hari Baskar pls don’t, only navy. You’d prob wear black shoes and a black belt because of the black jacket because you have to match leathers, but black does not work with khaki. Idk that’s what I’ve always listened to
This is exactly the video I was looking for. I was trying to figure out what colour blazer goes with my navy blue pants and learnt a whole lot more. Thanks for this.
No problem Anthony!

Glad it helped Odel !
I'm going to try to do this! Thanks for your time and info on this!
Great stuff. I understand that peaked lapels are more formal. Can the same concept be applied when mixing and matching? Thanks
As always great video. I like how you mix and match. It does give me some great tips on how to maximize my wardrobe without spending much more. I like how you bring it. Your style is always on point. Thank you for sharing. Your channel is the bomb!!!

That matchup with the purple tie and the blue jacket is on point. I’m copying with no remorse.
I just love the look my brother. Great video. You delivered once again. Keep up the good work
appreciate you Sony!
Hello everyone I’m trying to find a good combination for a hunter green suit. Any recommendations?
I see you don't use formal shoes. Does it mean if you mix and match it became more casual?
Does a navy blue pants match with light grey suit and white dotted shirt and brown shoes and belt ?
Wassup Bro? Question, what color is the tie you are wearing with the tan jacket and white shirt? Don’t know how I missed this video but this one will definitely step my style game up. Salute!
Can we wear blue pant with maroon coat and which colour of shoe should be
I've done this, and with great success! It definitely adds another dimension to the wardrobe when done right.
thanks for the feedback Delano..
Great!!! Video!! I'm new to the channel and style all together and with a new job that requires suits this was very informative!
Glad it helped!
The Style O.G. indeed! Happy new subscriber, keep those videos coming. Any executive suits spring siuts?
Does Navy blue blazer match with black pant?
Jeff I have that same tie you’re rocking with that tan jacket
this looks good but unfortunately my navy suit is a lighter colour and my grey suit is a darker colour than what you have. this makes it look like i mismatched my suit because they look very similar.

Have to have the matching trousers. No way around it..
The Style O.G. yeah thought so thanks man!
I'm a big, bulky muscular guy. So my question is if I raise my hand with suit jacket, should the whole jacket rise up above my waist? I hate how restrictive the jackets feel but idk if this is normal. Last jacket I got was Ralph Lauren.
jacket is probably too short
@@TheStyleOG I swear my jackets go pass my crotch.. I can check again though. Is a suit jacket supposed to feel like any other jacket? I've looked up some of these problems and it's said that buff men seldom can wear suits if the rack and usually have to buy tailored suits. Also I'm subscribing.
What’s up, G? Yeah, it might have taken me a while to find your site but I did & recently subscribed. Keep em comin’. Thanks for your time
welcome to the channel Steven!
Thanks, G. Quick question for you when you get a minute. Is it ever ok to wear chucks with suits or blazer(I apologize if this has been covered already. I’m trying to get up to speed)? Proper color combination, of course.
I have Steven..
Only own black and a grey suit. Both polyester will try this out w oxblood shoes. Then a nice navy blazer will be added thanks😊
