    Two summer suits, two sport coats, a brown suit and two business suits. That's what I'd recommend if you like to wear suits in public regularly.

      That's a good list! I'd add a double breasted suit and a tuxedo for the special occasions

      Plus one in Italian style with two buttons, tapered trousers and tactical lining for special business.

    Nice starting guide. I wear suits for work but also every day since I love the setroial aspect of wearing a suit. I started off with a Solid Navy blue suit, then went down the color line, Brown, Light Grey, Medium brown ect.

    5:43 I, too, love dressing up in suits and waving my money in parks. hahah! you need at least 3, if one or 2 are being dry cleaned. so build some redundancy in the blues and dark grays. great video

      Avoid dry clean and invest in a steamer. Reserve dry clean for disasters (red wine, blood, grease, chocolate, etc)

    Good guide 😊 Just ordered a tuxedo today! My first tuxedo, which I got for orchestral performances when leaving for college, is 21 years old now. My standards for materials and (especially) fit have risen quite a bit in that time. Boy was this new one expensive.
    I work primarily from home, and the set of circumstances where I wear suits is pretty limited. I ended up with four suits (not including black tie). Two are worsted wool and for cold weather, and two are linen-blend and for hot weather. Then I have a few odd jackets spanning cold and hot weather. With this collection of tailoring, I can alternate suits and dress for 4-5 successive days in a variety of seasons and locations. The typical reason I find to wear tailoring day after day like this is to attend conferences. The rest of the time - important meetings, weddings, funerals - tailoring seems to come out just for one day at a time.

    I didn’t own my first suit until I was 29. A medium grey double breasted suit. I did have a tuxedo that I wore as a teenager for band performances

    I would say im the Dandy. I now have 8 suits. All tailored, which leads people to believe that they are bespoke suits. The compliments are plenty when wearing a suit. Of course i choose the occasion for suit wear; a club/lounge or a meeting. The experience is always inspiring. Life is amazing!

    About 2. One for business and semi formal occasions and another for formal attire/Sunday best

      That could work! I'd also say a summery one for warm weather. A pastel or cream linen suit might make more sense during a warm summer day outside wedding, rather than a thick, dark grey flannel one. Cheers

      If you dont wear a suit for work, and only wear it for special occasions one is enough.

    It always surprised me when people claim black suits aren’t versatile compared to charcoal grey or navy blue. I’ll give you that it’s a top choice for novices, which may lower its appeal, but black provides just as many options as any other color.

      I agree with you. A DB suit if you're not an executive is overbearing and overkill. It's one thing to make an impression and another to make your boss feel like you're eyeing for their position.

    I have three business suits. I have a dark olive green, a navy blue, and a dark gray. I wear them to church and get to dress to the nines once a week. ore my navy blue today and everyone noticed my 3 piece navy blue. I also have 3 sports coats in Buff, olive green, and black check with white.I also have a multitude of dress pats to always be able to change things up. And he forgot about the neck ties aspects.

    Don’t get a 3 piece suit unless you want to look like a butler. Vests are for service workers such as bartenders, waiters, musicians and, as I have already mentioned, butlers.

    I beg to differ regarding your business suit recommendations. You need to rotate suits, i/e. wear a different suit each day, not only in winter but also in summer which means that you will need dark grey and navy suits in heavier and lighter cloths. Two per season is barely enough, so better to add another lighter and heaver suit. That makes six. Then you could add a few summer casual suits and a tux. That makes nine. I definitely do not recommend brown or emerald suits, etc, for a work environment - they are better suited to the dandy type who wants to wear them just for fun, not for work.
    Also, the tux also doesn't belong in the beginner's collection. Many people will never wear black tie in their entire lives, so it's just not justified to have a tux in your first three suits. (I would love to wear tuxedos more often but only had one chance in my life so far and that was 30 years ago.)

    All was going well until you said a man should have 3 suits minimum.. In a modern office environment, if one doesn't have to meet a client every day or works in a conservative bank, fund or firm one can more than likely wear 1 or maximum 2 suits for important business or personal events. The rest can easily be covered with a sports jacket combo and no one will bat an eyelid. Also, 90% of men out there don't need a tux. Black tie events are so incredibly rare in modern times. One is much better served with a nice blazer or sports jacket and wool trousers

    • @Gentlemens-Order
      @Gentlemens-Order  8 місяців тому

      I think there will come a moment in any man's life when he will be put in a position in which it would be beneficial to wear a tuxedo. For example, when having a wedding (unless you go for a casual dress code, or something more laid back) - that's when you should look your best, and only a tux will help you achieve that. And one should never rent a tuxedo.

    • @ghcheong
      @ghcheong 8 місяців тому

      @@Gentlemens-Order I agree with not renting a tux, my question here is, what's the probability of a man wearing one... a tux is more expensive than a suit most of the time. A good tux if you want it to really look good, needs to be preferably MTM. And because of the extra grosgrain lapel, covered buttons etc, it's gonna cost quite a bit of money. Not to mention the other components of the tux such as matching bow tie, studs and cufflinks, silk socks, cummerbund, possibly patent shoes if one doesn't know how to shine their Oxfords to a mirror shine. If one is only gonna wear the tux once or twice, I think it's a bit under utilised. While with that money, one can get himself a really handsome blazer and wool trousers, possibly several trousers and get more use out of it. What do you think?

      You’d be better served with navy and charcoal grey. Black is hard to pair with anything that’s not red or greyscale. Charcoal can work with most any shade of any color.
      I work in sales, no fancy office for me, and I need at least three suits. Two definitely won’t cut it.
