for when you're working on the greenhouse curtains: you could sew washers to the bottom edge of them to keep them tidy and out of the way too! kinda like the quarter trick :D

Noobie gardener from massachusetts here so excited to find a gardening channel specific to my state! How is your garden surviving this hot weather?! Most of my plants have some sort of heat damage on them

Glad you’re here! July heat wave hit hard. I lost a few things but planted in the gaps and they’ve bounced back fairly quickly now that it is cooling off a bit.

You can mix the hydrophobic soil with perlite so it has more air for your houseplants :)

You could use large washers from the hardware store instead of quarters on your dress, that way if the tape comes undone you won’t be losing money (aside from the few cents it costs for the washers, of course)!

For the houseplants, it sounds like you're letting them get *too* dry. You just want to let it get dry for like a day or two *at most* -- for it to be hydrophobic it has to be beyond dry and going more towards a dessert like dryness. If you stick your finger in it, once dry, it should feel more like a wrung out sponge and only the top layer should be truly dry - then you can water it again! Also, bottom water if you're worried about overwatering - then it can take as much as it needs. For the one you repotted, since you didn't leave it to grow new roots entirely you should water it more frequently until it roots in, like don't let it dry out as much as a fully rooted-in plant. Hope that helps!

Note about bottom watering, it IS NOT the roots drinking up what they need, it is the soil FULLY SATURATING be careful with this if you have a plant with too much soil/space, and not enough roots. As it will sit and rot.
      Hah..ask me how i know

This is just a suggestion I like to make to lead a healthy lifestyle. This is not only my self experience but had been scientifically proved. Just give a bit of thought. Afterall .....health is wealth 😊😊
Whenever you're out in your Garden, ALWAYS be totally barefoot because our soles love and deserve that freedom. They love to feel various textures of soil between their toes. Apart from n it's very healthy to be barefoot outside.
Take for example two plants, one grown inside a pot and tge other grown in Nature. However much you water and use fertilizer, it never looks as healthy as the latter. This is simply because the roots have a limited space to stread and the Nurishment too is the same.
The soles of our feet are like the roots of a tree. When you're not barefoot that natural process is obstructed. Our soles are designs to absorb things which are essential to lead a healthy lifestyle. However, use of footwear deprives this process. Apart from that there are a large number of Sensors / Nerve endings on the soles of our feet, which connects from head to toe. When we walk on Sand, Gravel and Tiny Stones /Pebbles,our entire body gets stimulated through these sensors. Once again Footwear deprives this natural process.
So, go barefoot always for good health and happy feet and soles.

I never ate red shishito. But you always treat jt like bell pepper and save the seeds since they're ripe.
