Would love to see Pope breakdown more compound movements for beginners. Alot of "beginner videos" neglect the finer points, usually it becomes move bar/weight from A to B without explaining the finer movements and why you need them. Thanks for the vid!
She did an excellent job of explaining this. Wish more videos out there were even remotely close in quality to her explanation. Nice job and best wishes to her.
Excellent video, Kristin!! It works well on you young puppies who have excellent mobility, but for us old guys (I'm almost 67 and got into O-lifting in January this year ... NEVER lifted before in my life), our knees don't work quite like they used to, so when I get this sore knee better, I'm going to lift both lifts with the split squat. It's legal. At the Canadians at the end of April, I used it and won gold in my age group and weight class. Excellent video though. Thumbs up. Your form is flawless!!!
Thanks Kristin!! The snatch is SOOOO very complex, but you've explained it so well. I'm 66, never lifted before, but always wanted to. I play hockey in goal four times a week, but I do not have the shoulder flexibility that I should. I cannot get my shoulders back ANYWHERE NEAR like all you young puppies!! I'm working on it to the point that I don't need the "straps" to hold on to when I do squats. Watched the video with Max Aita as well. I'm on my way to the gym and I'll try to incorporate the "hip touch" as well. I tried it here at home with a six foot long stick and really went well. That's going to really help!! I'm hoping to go to the Canadian Masters in April here in Ontario.
I’m new to fitness and weightlifting and I have been looking for what a clean, jerk, and snatch all are and you by far explained it the best. There are so many videos on this but the info is either too much or not enough with lots of implying of general knowledge on the subject. Both this and the clean and jerk video were very easy to understand!
Great video. I didn’t know that you do a rebend after the bar goes up your legs. I’m going to try that and see if it helps my snatch. I would love to see more videos like this for the c&j and snatch. I feel like a lot of the videos skip over the movement in between for two lifters and show us how it should look and so we learn wrong. I just learned I shouldn’t be throwing my hips up into the bar!
Disclaimer I am still very new to weightlifting, but neither I heard anyone extend fully and re-bend the knee, nor any person I saw in person or online who knew what they were doing fully extends and resends. Including in this video with Pope. She obviously stays bent all the way up until the top of the power position. I don't see 2 fully extended position in her snatches whatsoever.
hookey1000 that was taught in a way to get the viewer to have the “intent” of keeping the legs straight until the bar reaches the power position, when in reality execution won’t be quite as straight-legged. Re the knee re-bending. That is a naturally occurring movement that happens automatically while transitioning from the first pull to the second pull. That’s not something that needs to be taught, or have any conscious effort made into re-bending the knees. It is simply a result from executing a proper second pull.
great video, and i, like some of your other viewers, would like to learn more about the rebend. I have actually been taught not to rebend or scoop the bar. can you include another tutorial video on how to incorporate the double knee bend technique into the snatch lift.
Hi Kristin, any advice on how tight or close to have your weights secured onto the bar? It looks as if in your video, that you don't even use spring clips.
I'm a little confused by the "straight leg deadlift" and then re-bend knee part. I've been oly lifting for a with coaches for a decade, and watched a lot of videos, and have never heard that before! Also, would have liked to have seen a slo-mo, especially of that part!
Great video! I'd love more advice on getting upper body more vertical, as I tend to still be forward too much in the thoracic spine, which puts my shoulders in too much extension. Any exercises to build front-to-back stability for those of us that lean forward too much? Thanks!!
Gonna try that again today.. Didnt really work as well as i wanted last time.. On another note, it does make me laugh : to dive deeper into the snatch.. 😂😂
Great work! Thank you for the information. Which exercises can I do to improve my squat? I cannot get very low and am reduced to sitting on a bench but that isn’t helping me improve.
If you haven't seen it already be sure to check out our video with Kristin Pope on the Clean & Jerk here: ua-cam.com/video/BvHJ2KEjGwg/v-deo.html

Best and most complete explinations I've seen yet! Even explained the tape. 😊
Kris, great instructional video, please make more for those of us who are trying to learn proper mechanics without the help of a coach.

Kristen is the best at explaining these moves! So easy to understand and follow
Excellent video . This lady is a fantastic coach/teacher
This was the best tutorial have ever seen on doing any kind of snatch movement. The slow motion demo was very helpful.
Definitely would love a series or mini series going more in depth on how to snatch as well as something on mobility!
she is great! clear, structured, and perfect demonstration step by step
thanks for mentioning the rebending the knees!! Kristin pope tutorials are gems !!
Dipesh Bacchae. Stop this weight lifting nonsense and do proper studies and become proper IT worker

Thanks for this great breakdown of the snatch.
Great tutorial. Very clearly explained and broken down. Thanks for posting
Love Pope she's awesome! Great tutorial. I suck at the snatch and need to work on it.
Likewise, i like her recommendation of how to perform the power snatch, then transition into an overhead squat.
Nice snatch!
super helpful!! thank you, would love to see more videos like this pleaseee
Excellent breakdown, must watch for learning this lift :)
Great breakdown of how to do the snatch. Looking forward to more videos.

Best snatch video yet.
Thank you for the great instruction!
Thanks for the detailed explanation!
Great video. I just subscribed. Do you have a video explaining the benefits of doing a Anderson/ Pin squat and the Hindu/Baithak body weight squat?
Yes more beginner videos. Maybe a video on mobility would be helpful. Thanks!
This is so, so helpful!!! Your explanation and demo was so informative! I’m new to CrossFit and I going to go do Isabel in a few minutes!
Great tutorial - god explaination, only thing missing was some slow motion as tre movements are very fast
yes more tutorials!!! great job!
Amazing tutorial, thank you so much ,we need more video

Great explanation!
Lovely explanation 😊
Great explanation! Haven't done these since high school
This is great, thanks for that Kristin, very helpful.
This is great, thank you. Also you answered my question if it is better to get the overhead squat down first :)
Came to see your snatch. Didn't disappoint
Great breakdown!
Hello, i can't keep the barbell behind my head when i squat, my outstretched arms go forward ... how can i prevent this from happening?
Well explained by the pro!! Great video :)
Great info and how-to on the snatch!
sweet video. More tutorials for the complex lifts like this please
So helpful! Please do more like this! 😀
Her technique is perfect. I'm working on the snatch and this video has been very helpful.
The BEST expanantion 🙌
Great breakdown on the lift. Always love anything she does
For leg muscle strength which exercises want to do...
Awesome, thanks so much.
Very good video
Thanks so much for Great tutorial.
Hi Kristin, any advice on how tight or close to have your weights secured onto the bar? It looks as if in your video, that you don't even use spring clips.
Very helpful, thank you!
It seems like your right arm is longer than your left as you were doing the snatch. Is there some tightness in your scapular-thoracic region?

Thanks for the video! Good teacher
Straight leg deadlift->stand up straight->jump down-->catch bar--> squat
Thank you for your help!
What should you start learning first, snatch or clean and jerk?
Snatch because clean and jerk is easier and so you could get complacent learning the former
Good tips
Thank you, Kris Pope!!! Explained very well. 🙂
Thank you!!! Now I know better for next time.
Gonna try that again today.. Didnt really work as well as i wanted last time.. On another note, it does make me laugh : to dive deeper into the snatch.. 😂😂

Great job. Cant wait to see more.
Awesome! Thank you!
thanks
So good
Thank you!

Hi is the split snatch not a useful tool for people who are unable to get into a low squat position?
Its probably better to just work at improving your mobility to do a squat snatch.
It's so difficult to me and she makes it seem so easy. But every time I try it just seems like an impossible movement lol. I'll keep trying.
Sonia Ynclan took me months to fully execute it. Keep trying
I find sitting on a bench then standing with the bar overhead the best method for me. Sitting down to the box freaks me out.
I can't do it why
Doing this one today.
Great ❤
Your my GOAL 😍
So helpful THANKS...
