Wow, I also had vivid SP episodes when I used to listen to Tool. The worst part is: I wasn't paralyzed when these things happened. I could move, scream/shout. There would be terrible entities just right there in my room and sometimes they'd attack me, sometimes I'd keep my eyes closed then feel hands of different sizes grabbing me and touching me.
Christian here; Maynard's mother was Christian and went to church, and then later on in her life she got paralyzed. Her "church" said that it was because she put little faith in Jesus and as punishment, He paralyzed her. When Maynard heard about this, he quickly revolted from anything of Christ or religion; that's why in the beginning of TOOL, it was wayyy far from God. But I feel like later on in TOOL's discography, he started truly seeing the light a little. As in the album 10,000 Days (The title meaning how many days Judith lived after she was paralyzed), in the song where he sings about his mother, the lyrics say, "Fetch me the Spirit, the Son, and the Father Tell them their pillar of faith has ascended" points more to accepting Christ saying that we should tell the Holy Trinity that my mother has ascended into Heaven after her death. "… Daylight dims leaving cold fluorescence Difficult to see you in this light Please forgive this bold suggestion Should you see your maker's face tonight Look him in the eye Look him in the eye, and tell him "I never lived a lie, never took a life But surely saved one Hallelujah, it's time for you to bring me home." This tells us that Maynard finds it hard to see his mother up in Heaven "this light" and that she should say to Him that she saved a life (Maynard) and that it's time for Him to bring her home (Heaven). I met Danny and Justin at a club in Brisbane, Australia after one of their shows. They were both soft spoken and courteous. Danny particularly had a gentle handshake. Justin was describing to us how Tools music is simply their outward artistic expression of their individualistic selves, and their creative ideas. As a visual artist i could relate. The narrator could ask himself, does this music resonate with me? Does this art uplift me, inspire me, make me grow, nourish me, even enlighten me? If not, then leave your speculation and admonishment out of the musicians lives - stop projecting onto them (itself a form of occultism), and find your art/life that truly resonates with you. After all, if the Christ and thine own self are One, then you will have nothing to fear ,except fear itself, and to remedy that you may just need a dose of FEAR INNOCULUM.. Lateralus inspired and fuled an educational journey for me personally. The energy and inspiration of that album was the backdrop for a degree in social work, which now allows me serve my community by protecting and advocating for the most vulnerable amongst us. Even better, it marked the beginning of my journey as a father. Christ is in my heart, but ya'll Bible thumpers sound like you are stuck in the 17th century. This is art.. The band members have expressed a number of times that their "art" is a "TOOL" hoping to serve individual exploration of spirit. If christ is unshakable in your heart, you have nothing to fear with these fellows. These guys are the most potent shamans/healers on the touring circuit today, that I know of. If I need to recharge, I hit a show and am always overwhelmed with gratitude and awe. Blessed with my health and the providence to afford a live show from time to time. Lighten up, if I were a betting man, I'd say Jesus is a TOOL fan.

I've studied religion, spirituality, the occult, psychology and many other things associated with these concepts. I've also had experiences that were not drug induced. Danny uses the forces of both sides to his benefit and maynard seeks to make his listeners more aware of their own consciousness. This video is made out of fear and edited in a way to make everyone else fearful as well.

I was an atheist before I first listened to Tool, after having a psychedelic experience while listening to Tool I regained my faith in Christianity and I have Tool to thank for that, their music led me on a spiritual journey, say what you want and wether or not the band channels dark energy is irrelevant to the fact that they had an everlasting impact on my life and led me to God, I guess that completely debunks any point that this band is all evil, for me it’s the complete opposite 🤷♂️🌀✝️

Don’t get me wrong, Tool is an amazing band, but there are four things that caught my eye as a listener (and lifelong fan) in the past that makes me believe they are in fact connected to the darker side of music - 1 . Danny’s father was a master Mason (as you’ve said in the vid). It’s undeniable that he likes the occult. It’s undeniable that he’s an amazing drummer. Whether it’s some sort of channeling mixed in with his raw talent, or some sort of black magic fuckery, the dudes got chops nonetheless and has made music millions adore 2. I’m 52% sure Maynard is a Freemason himself. On the cover of “A Perfect Union of Contrary Things,” he is giving one of the many secret hand gestures the masons use (hand in the shirt, idk what it’s called exactly). I’m not saying just because he’s a Freemason he’s in cahoots with Satan or that all Freemasons are, but with Danny’s father being a member, it makes you think what goes on behind the scenes when you’re a multi-million dollar musician and associated with a secret society 3. Maynard speaks in Hooker with a penis, “I sold my soul to make a record.” Now, I’m highly aware Ænima leans towards the comedic side of music both lyrically and instrumentally. But on such an honest diss track, where Maynard clearly screams out his true feelings towards the ignorant sell out he once met, it makes you wonder if he’s putting it out there to be true to himself, or just to be funny. Maynard is quite the comedic genius when it comes to lyrics, so who can really say (On a side note, selling your soul is a real thing. In the UA-cam vid with Sylvia Massy where Tool is recording Undertow, there is a GIANT pentagram behind Danny as he’s warming up. I think some candles are lit around it as well. I am also a Christian and Tool is one of my favorite bands..... however, I have been maturing spiritually in the Lord and have been educating myself on the workings of various esoteric and occult aubjects and I now realize that Tool's music, while amazing and spiritual sounding, is heavily influenced by the demonic in the spiritual realm, whcih the band fully taps into to make their music. There are but two sides: the Kingdom of God and the (false) kingdom of Satan. Satan and the demons hate mankind and the enemy's goal is to keep us away from God and His will for our lives. I now realize that listening to Tool's music opens one up to the influence of demoinc forces in such a way that will move a person away from desiring the truth of Jesus Christ.
You can (technically) still be a Christian, but willingly exposing yourself to demonic music that is explicitly made to influence your subconscious will do you great harm.

Great vid! I am most interested in this topic as I'm a Christian drummer and can play almost every tool song. I play for the Church also. Lucifer was in charge of the music in heaven so he should know a thing or two but God created him and HE is the source of everything especially creativity. I wish the world was cool enough where geometry could summon demons through song or whatever. The band seems to have an interest in fringe beliefs, at least on a curiosity level, but is this any more weird than what mainstream religions spout? I think you just don’t hear about people believing this shot very often so it seems weirder. But if you read the comments, tons of mainstream theists believe that these beliefs are somehow dangerous, and therefore have some kind of potency. A virgin birth, talking animals, and a man living in a fish are all just as statistically unlikely and bizarre when you ignore mainstream popularity. I don’t know how adults put more stick in it than ‘probably not real but I don’t mind practicing for cultural reasons,’ personally. But the band seems to write a lot of music about self-improvement and personal growth. So they appear to use whatever they each believe as a positive crutch.

The entire point of Tool is to allow for free thought. This includes thinking outside of established beliefs to question the self and learn about things that initially appear frightening. We mostly fear and show disdain towards the occult due to dintinct associations in our cultures, wherein larger religions squash the smaller ones including cults just because they disagree with them. There is wisdom and knowledge to be gained in every faith, and often times we all believe in similar things, we just call them different names and believe in different doctrines.

Aliens and symbols from other ideologies don't contradict god or jesus christ. Tool is all about free thought, and nailing onself down to specific interpretations of doctrine tends to lead to arrogance, even if its a harmless arrogance. So many different ways to interpret the bible, and even then, it leaves out many texts that were originally meant to be a part of it. I just think all people should open their minds to new ideas (or old ones lol) to make a wider personal assessment of this divine reality we share. I believe in a God of sorts, but it likely dosen't follow the exact same iconography and view that you have. But the beauty of being human, is that we have the capacity to share ideas and help eachother see things that others can't, and that can happen in both direction, and in so many different ways. Danny just enjoys his esoteric readings on magick and spirituality. Ironically, alot of the ideas within esoteric circles are heavily based on christian and hebrew beliefs, though they're beliefs that were cast aside a long time ago because it encouraged free thought and personal exploration, instead of giving power to a central established church...and human beings tend to like power. So they willfully scratched those texts and ideas from their record just to ensure more power and control over their followers. Which I dont find very respectable, but now that's what most major religions are left with: whatever the good church says is true, and has said is true, usually for their own gain. Not to say all the beliefs of the church are false, because it would be arrogant of me to say that, and just wrong. But I encourage looking deeper into the intentions of these people, as well as deeper into the texts and forms, there is insight to be found in all things, and yet they would have you hide from all of it. God is all pervasive, he sees through our eyes, feels our love and pain, and the more we learn, the more he gets to experience this manifest reality through us. That's just how I understand it, at least in a brief thought.

I think it isn't wise to assume aliens are demons, because then if they come (and they have, and do, and clearly just want to help us otherwise theyd have destroyed us by now) then we'll just be animalistic and fearful, lashing out at them because we don't understand them. Best to have our rationality about us when facing things we dont fully grasp. Lumping them into the evil category just because ancient thinkers may have viewed them that way, based on their own research and experiences, isn't ideal. I met Danny and Justin at a club in Brisbane, Australia after one of their shows. They were both soft spoken and courteous. Danny particularly had a gentle handshake. Justin was describing to us how Tools music is simply their outward artistic expression of their individualistic selves, and their creative ideas. As a visual artist i could relate.
The narrator could ask himself, does this music resonate with me? Does this art uplift me, inspire me, make me grow, nourish me, even enlighten me? Lateralus inspired and fuled an educational journey for me personally. The energy and inspiration of that album was the backdrop for a degree in social work, which now allows me serve my community by protecting and advocating for the most vulnerable amongst us. Even better, it marked the beginning of my journey as a father. Christ is in my heart, but ya'll Bible thumpers sound like you are stuck in the 17th century. This is art.. The band members have expressed a number of times that their "art" is a "TOOL" hoping to serve individual exploration of spirit. If christ is unshakable in your heart, you have nothing to fear with these fellows. These guys are the most potent shamans/healers on the touring circuit today, that I know of. If I need to recharge, I hit a show and am always overwhelmed with gratitude and awe. Blessed with my health and the providence to afford a live show from time to time. Don’t get me wrong, Tool is an amazing band, but there are four things that caught my eye as a listener (and lifelong fan) in the past that makes me believe they are in fact connected to the darker side of music -
1 . Danny’s father was a master Mason (as you’ve said in the vid). It’s undeniable that he likes the occult. It’s undeniable that he’s an amazing drummer. Whether it’s some sort of channeling mixed in with his raw talent, or some sort of black magic fuckery, the dudes got chops nonetheless and has made music millions adore
2. I’m 52% sure Maynard is a Freemason himself. On the cover of “A Perfect Union of Contrary Things,” he is giving one of the many secret hand gestures the masons use (hand in the shirt, idk what it’s called exactly). I’m not saying just because he’s a Freemason he’s in cahoots with Satan or that all Freemasons are, but with Danny’s father being a member, it makes you think what goes on behind the scenes when you’re a multi-million dollar musician and associated with a secret society
3. Maynard speaks in Hooker with a penis, “I sold my soul to make a record.” Now, I’m highly aware Ænima leans towards the comedic side of music both lyrically and instrumentally. But on such an honest diss track, where Maynard clearly screams out his true feelings towards the ignorant sell out he once met, it makes you wonder if he’s putting it out there to be true to himself, or just to be funny. Maynard is quite the comedic genius when it comes to lyrics, so who can really say

regardless of what you think about this video, it's good to know and understand what's going on... in the words of the great pastor James Wickstrom, "The Father says that everything is for you to know and to understand." sure, Tool's music is exceptionally dark, but i don't really get the impression that their drummer is necessarily "evil..." it could very well be that he's using what he knows to warn us of what the "dark forces in high places" intend for all of us (see Faaip De Oiad and the rest of Lateralus).

The band seems to have an interest in fringe beliefs, at least on a curiosity level, but is this any more weird than what mainstream religions spout? I think you just don’t hear about people believing this shot very often so it seems weirder. But if you read the comments, tons of mainstream theists believe that these beliefs are somehow dangerous, and therefore have some kind of potency. A virgin birth, talking animals, and a man living in a fish are all just as statistically unlikely and bizarre when you ignore mainstream popularity. I don’t know how adults put more stick in it than ‘probably not real but I don’t mind practicing for cultural reasons,’ personally. But the band seems to write a lot of music about self-improvement and personal growth. So they appear to use whatever they each believe as a positive crutch.

The entire point of Tool is to allow for free thought. This includes thinking outside of established beliefs to question the self and learn about things that initially appear frightening. We mostly fear and show disdain towards the occult due to dintinct associations in our cultures, wherein larger religions squash the smaller ones including cults just because they disagree with them. There is wisdom and knowledge to be gained in every faith, and often times we all believe in similar things, we just call them different names and believe in different doctrines.

Aliens and symbols from other ideologies don't contradict god or jesus christ. Tool is all about free thought, and nailing onself down to specific interpretations of doctrine tends to lead to arrogance, even if its a harmless arrogance. So many different ways to interpret the bible, and even then, it leaves out many texts that were originally meant to be a part of it. I just think all people should open their minds to new ideas (or old ones lol) to make a wider personal assessment of this divine reality we share. I believe in a God of sorts, but it likely dosen't follow the exact same iconography and view that you have. But the beauty of being human, is that we have the capacity to share ideas and help eachother see things that others can't, and that can happen in both direction, and in so many different ways. Danny just enjoys his esoteric readings on magick and spirituality. Ironically, alot of the ideas within esoteric circles are heavily based on christian and hebrew beliefs, though they're beliefs that were cast aside a long time ago because it encouraged free thought and personal exploration, instead of giving power to a central established church...and human beings tend to like power. So they willfully scratched those texts and ideas from their record just to ensure more power and control over their followers. Which I dont find very respectable, but now that's what most major religions are left with: whatever the good church says is true, and has said is true, usually for their own gain. Not to say all the beliefs of the church are false, because it would be arrogant of me to say that, and just wrong. But I encourage looking deeper into the intentions of these people, as well as deeper into the texts and forms, there is insight to be found in all things, and yet they would have you hide from all of it. God is all pervasive, he sees through our eyes, feels our love and pain, and the more we learn, the more he gets to experience this manifest reality through us. That's just how I understand it, at least in a brief thought.

I'm a studying occultist and haven't done any large magickal workings, but most of us tend to learn things from Crowley but we don't become Crowlyists. Crowley exposed a lot of good teachings that were hidden for years but no one with good intentions would follow Crowley.
