- A bit cursory in scope, a video demonstrating the sonic variations of B8 alloy & B20 alloy utilizing 15" hi-hats & 18" crashes.
(**Rides deserve their own video!)
Here, it's B20 to B8 back to B20. I hope you will find the video helpful!
Drum spaz out at the end was pretty sweet lol!
You're the man Tel, I always watch your videos before going to a band practice, makes me wanna try new things.
And the winner is...b8. Paiste b8. Guess I'm spoiled with my 2002s but other brands sound just ok to me.
I like both, but love the B8 alloy!
Hi Terry. I have 16" crash, 18" crash, 18" medium crash and 18" China all 505 series which I bought in 1983. After 32 years I still love them.
B8 all the way baby
Thank you for these vids man! I love your sense of humor.
You're a madman! Came for some info, subbed for more madness!
There’s nothing better than a 18 inch Zildjian K dark thin crash
I like the b20. The b8 sounds washy.
thanks for this video dude! its a massive help! 👍
B20 all the way for great sound!
Had 18" 505 med and heavy crashes in the 80's and early 90's. Luved um...then they broke and I migrated to the Signature series. I miss um.
Great video!
I´ve always liked the Paiste sound but they sadly break too often. I switched to Zildjian´s and have had the same cymbals for 10 years (knock wood) and the A and A custom are really beautiful cymbals.
I have always used my B8s for gigging ( unless its a big gig) and my B20s for recordings and bigger venues. A good sound guy is always the most important factor..
They really can't record and edit from b8s?
@@TomTorbeyns We are talking about Sabian B8s, not Paiste
@@joecap2919 so with Paiste B8s one can record but not with Sabian B8s?
@@TomTorbeyns If you know absolutely nothing about recording quality you can record with anything.
@@joecap2919 I have mostly played live. Never occupied myself with technical recording stuff.
bro ! i'm Jones incarnate practically ,but different, great! Textures and grooves !!! great vids!! im a humungo fan as well.
+frankenboston Thank you, Frankenboston!!!!
Excellent video!
I would be burred with THOSE HI HATS ...just Awesome T!
Bonzleum.for life!
Oh and happy Saturday from Livingston, Scotland.
Thought I heard a Hark Angel singing with the light at the end of the tunnel flashing at me for a second there!
You have such a jazzy groove. I like it! Tell me, what's the main difference between the 3ply and 6ply Ludwig toms, which do you prefer and why?
That's honestly hard to say. The 3-ply seem to sound better, but I don't know how much of that is psychosemat.. psycho somatica.... ...in my head.
Thanks for the nice words on the jazzy groove. I really do need "Oil Can!", but I do my best!
bonzoleum I have a theory that we like the sounds we grew up with... nothing beats a Lustra, because that's how snares sounded when I grew up, so that's the way they should sound, in my head. I suppose it's the same with 3 ply Ludwigs? (I have a 69 silver pearl and I love it). I just wonder if people still love the 80's drums, gated and digitized? Cheers from Sweden!
Yes-conditioning in the formative years...
Cheers from Chicago!!
Happy Friday Terry!
Blistering wild ending ! !
The B-8 sounds better. Less metallic over ride to it-more crash.
Could you do a video on your thoughts about 404's & 505's? Possibly show us your collection of these series and what you know about them. I started collecting them and I am with ya on that 505 18" crash, it is one of my favorites!
I have ten or so other videos on cymbals-specifically Paiste. Try ua-cam.com/video/hivO6NuBvMY/v-deo.html
Nice comparison video, I'd take either to a gig. But wait! What is that blue tape doing on the ride cymbal I think you owe us all an explanation......
Thank you drum itfy. It's an unusually dark and trashy sounding Paiste 505 RIDE that put a little tape on to practice my fast jazz technique (the technique I don't currently have but am striving diligently to acquire).
Ok Terry, explanation accepted; I'll call off the anti taping cymbal police right away!
For that particular technique I consider it to be like a donut on a baseball bat for practice swinging.
bonzoleum
Watch John Riley explain it!
I love both. But I think zildjian crashes cut better. See peart. And bonham live. Parts cymbals were absolutely incredible. Bonham's were great too
Percussive nerdery at its finest :)
B8 FTW! Paiste!
what is the hi hat stand you are using in this video?
B8 sounds to me very thin and not full .
Sabian AA 15 years , going strong-B20 all the way.
B20's have more of that 'sizzle'.
What kind of drum set is that?
I bought a pair of 505 hats because they were cheap but turns out wowww
Nice! Are they the MEDIUM HI HAT model? The MEDIUM model is golden.
@@bonzoleum thanks for replying, it is a medium 14" hats, oxidized and has a small dent on top hat but still sounds awesome. No logo left, will let you know the production number.
Paiste 2002 Bronce = B8 or b20?, Good video
B8. Thank you!!
6:38 hahaha
John Bonham =b8 sound,. Jazz music B20
I think pst are the best bargaiin
The PST 7 especially.
A.D.D? bi-Polor? OCD? wasted 8:51
