- In today's video we cut apart a 1981 Honda Odyssey FL250 to install a stage 4 Duromax 440cc (18hp) engine. This engine will put down almost double the power of the original 2 stroke. We are keeping the hand controls. When finished it will have upgraded hydraulic disc brakes, wider axle and a better seat. Check out the links below for a full parts list. These were the greatest atv in history. Biased opinion I know. Hear me out. I worked at a place called Vernon Valley Action park in NJ a billion years ago. I worked on the mudder attraction. 15 Honda Odysseys racing around a track in mud. What a blast. We used to scream around the park and the forests surrounding the park hours after the park would close for the day.
I wish they still made something like these.
Love these machines grew up ridding them just sold my last 3 last year 😢
A friend of mine had one has a kid. He's crippled and he loved the hand catrols.
I’m so stoked for this build
That 2 stroke engine is a de tuned CR250 engine without wet clutch and transmission. You can get 40 + hp from it with some porting, re jetting and an expansion chamber/stinger/silencer that's tuned to the rpms that you engine's tuned to run best at. The FL 250 engines were tuned to have more power at lower rpms. but it's up to you how fat the power band is and at what rpms it spans. It would be cool to see it on a light weight racing kart frame. Those old FL250 Odysseys were capable of up to 51 miles per hour. Looks like you're gonna have a fun kart. Keep the rear tires a bit under pressurized for a softer ride lol
Can't wait for finished product........
I Had one with a 440 snowmobile motor once it was a blast!!
Any twin cylinder sled engine will haul. It's too bad the only decent Odyssey was the FL350 and the FL400 Pilot. And those are going for some serious coin.
@@Ratkill9000 right. The late 80s ones are like gold but they are really cool fully restored. Wouldn't need any engine swap either lol
This machine is gonna be so much fun.
Finally, someone is hopin up one of these Honda Odessey's. When I was quite a few years younger a buddy and I were gonna put a motor from a Honda 125 into one of these but we didn't get very far as we couldn't figure out how to get it to work properly. We didn't have a place like Go Powersports to get parts back then we had to hunt and scrape for parts and we were just too young to get all the parts to work together. (12 and 13 we were just too young with no knowledge of anybody who did know) R.
Rick go and look at the the Honda oddesy Grind Hard Plumbing Co built over the past couple of years it is very impressive.
Tony from Western Australia.
I have one with all round suspension, and I'm giving it a Suzuki Gixxer motor, I'm super excited to see red beard doing something kinda like it!!! Stay safe everyone!
that is a lot of power and it is a beat of an engine
The odessy kart is a nice little setup. Allows for upgrades. Nice work so far.
Nicely done keep up
Groovy tunes dude
Awesome build can't wait to see this thing rip!!!!
great build, i think 2 stroke mini bike would be cool too
I think you should put that two stroke on my wheelbarrow, damn thing is heavy. Great video, keep'um coming.
I picked up 3 of them last year, I just Started making Videos about them a few weeks back.
Pretty Sure one is going to get a 625cc vegascarts Engine...
The old Owner had a Vtwin 28HP EFI Subru Engine he was starting to mount onto one of them.
This is a great build
Hope to see more video on the new shop!
May the forth be with you all
Client's build 10min video channel build 10 week builds! Love that engine though great content keep it up man!
Modify Everything Build It Stronger 💪🧔
The only way anybody should be sad is if it was an 85 or a 91 ad those had a 350 2 stroke and full suspension and are much rarer then the early ones.
Yes, and the FL350 had reverse! I have the same Oddyessy as this, (FL250) I bought it about a month ago with a bad coil. I can't wait to get it going!
Thank you for the videos
i like the honda oddassey
I'll say this one time ....ghpc did one.....rbg now ? Life's good my favorite fab guys. Building some mean sh*t.
Sick!
That was a good video. Say can you tell me what the outside dia, off the roll bar tube is, and the front of the frame tube. Thank you for your time.
Nice
Top , estou sempre acompanhando seus projetos , pena que aqui no Basil naw tem tanto recursos igual aii
80 of us in a 1/2hr.Sweet.
If you use the moter from the oddeseyon a small go kart or minni bike it's gonna fly lol can't wait to see that
much rather keep it 2 stroke....should of done a old 2 stroke street bike motor for it
800 two stroke snowmobile engine
If I remember correctly, the FL440 engine had a horsepower output of around 44 HP, but almost no torque (Typical for a 2 stroke). I am interested in seeing how this build preforms.
The *fl250 has around 18(?) without add ons. It does make torque, just in the higher revs. High revs which it needs to actually achieve its top speed since it has so much gear reduction
I had one of these with a seized engine. I was looking for some kind of snowmobile engine for it but never found one that wasnt a worn out pos. I ended up selling the frame but eventually Id like to get one of the newer ones with full suspension
Hope you still do the cr80 build
The 350 is top dog faw and rev
That is so cool
It's so cool
Question, why didn't you keep the original axle assm? I got 2 of these with "off road cages", one with the original axle, one done up with a VW style (single u joint) swing rear axle. PS: you need to sell a BFH (3-5lb) hammer on Amazon! Keep up the good work, I keep watchin.
Now race me with my odyssey. It has a 440cc twin 2 stroke on it. 40hp she makes, and does 68 mp/h
I hate seeing people chop up old go karts. Old Honda odysseys should leave them alone.
I no that's what I read
Mike Flynn then don’t watch it.
Straight facts
Yeah honestly all he did was fuck it all up . Grind hard plumbing did a fantastic job with theirs and threw some new life under it these guys messed it all up
You should put the odesey motor on a bicycle that would be way cooler than the 50cc or 66 cc motors they normally run
What brand of tube bender you were you using on this build? Thanks
Asking the same question
RBG how about a mini bike build for big gravy bones dudes over 275lbs. Most minibikes max out at a recommended 260 pounds. I'm 6'2" 277 and my sons Coleman ct200u-ex flexes alot on bumpy washboard dirt roads and trails. It also lacks hill climbing torque with me on it. Also the foot pegs are very uncomfortable.
Sad to see another one get ruined.
it is but this will be cool
Buy one and keep it stock then.
IAM with u on this it's gunna be slow and there not many left shoukd be restored
That motor is.mounted to high ..
@@billbergen9169 If they didn't go for crazy money, I would
I want a bolt on kit for a Honda clone engine for the fl250 or the same engine that you put on
I had one, but while riding it sputtered out and now it is seized so I am thinking about putting a Honda clone in it. Is there such thing as just bolting it on and wiring everything up? Is there an easy way that I don’t need to weld or buy any material? Maybe a plate but that’s it.
Helk yeah
Love your builds, channel etc. but it Seems like a dirt bike motor would be a lot more powerful and reliable, would it not?
Let it rip tater chip that thing is going to be bad ass red beard
Hey red beard !! I've been following your channel for a while . I love your content , especially how you show how to do the mods that you do ... I am also wondering if you have seen the Mardy full throttle page ? I don't know exactly how fast they are going . Bit damn they have there bikes modded out and they fly .. I just thought you may check it out for yourself , I think you'd enjoy some of the bikes on there .
Can you make a video about how the brake setup works and how to make it or where can I buy the pieces in time 6:46
Sometimes these parts can only be hand fabricated (in the video it looks like) It would take some experience/learning, patience and time to make it work and a lot of testing. Hope this helps
Hey Greg whacha gonna do with that 2stroke engine? I need one for my odyssey
@Brandon Culver
Brandon I got an engine off of a fl250, it needs the torque converter and pull start assembly, and i got it with a carb on it that im sure its not for that engine, i also have the original exhast if you are interested, FREE just pay for shippin
Curious why not use the existing axle/gearbox/driven pulley? Surely you could set the motor mount so the shafts are proper distance...
Also, who lift that heavy engine so high on the chassis? Seems this will raise CG considerably.
I had this same question,. I have an 84 frame and was hoping to swap in a 412 while using the original cvt and gearbox set up
Hope you really take heed to my warning my freind. Your family will thank you for it. No Bullshit
I wonder how the 440 compares to my GY6 150cc as far as power and torque. I've had it going 55 with two grown people on it (me and the Mrs) and I'm one of those gravy bones. (250)
A question for you Greg, having watched you for a few years now I notice that every time you do tack welds on a project let's say you do 3 tack welds, you zap the first 2 and do not "gas them" with argon, but the final one you do, don't you care about crystallization for the first 2 it just seems strange that you only gas the final one and not any of the others AS SUCH
Tony from Western Australia.
Question: So I have a Coleman CT200U MiniBike and currently need a new back tire. Is there any website I can order one off of? Thanks
Riederer Productions Amazon KENDA Scorpion K290. Also can get. 20x7x8 which is a little bigger. Replace front too
Are you going to finish the other builds cause there’s always a episode 1 but I haven’t seen any of the other builds lately. Not trying to be rude. I know you have a lot going on.
They should have made it all original
What kind of bender is that? I think how it bends right at the end of the tube
Hey i have one of those. It has a yamaha 540 sled engine in it. Hold on tight, she gets loose in the rear.. Make sure the seat belt is working also.. It was a fun build. This one is going to be cool. Check mine out on my page. Good work Mr red
How great would this build be with something like a 400ex engine instead
Does anyone know where I can get gx390 upgrades like valve springs, billet rod, cam and fly wheel? If it's a kit or does predator stuff fit in it?
Call,Go Power Sports,they can give you advice/parts
Why wouldn't you install a snowmobile engine instead of the go cart motor on there I installed a fuel injected 580 artic cat on my old 79 or 80 ody it was,a hand full
I'm getting a Honda 250 or 175 cc off of a three wheeler how would you do a shifter for it
Oh this is an early model oddysey... In this case a 440 is an upgrade.
Let me get that 2 stroke engine and axle ??how much?
but the 2 smoker on a spiderbox or somthing
put not but lol
Welp I learned my lesson don’t use a impact
!
Awssom another oddisy for u guys not to finish and sell. Lol. I'm just messing
I am truly saddened, if you wanted power shouldve got 250/450 Honda 2 stroke(idk early 80s hondas) to keep it somewhat stock appearing, take 1000$ atv and a 1000$ 440 engine and now you have a 500$ atv congrats
I am looking for a Margay go kart frame in decent condition does anybody have one. I am willing to pay $300 for a rolling chassis
Yikes 4stroke
Need to stop listening to politicians and listen to the doctors and scientist. The ones that went to school for this reason
This is how to ruin a Honda
That gunna be one slow kart.. there heavy .. I would restore it ... I like all ur builds but. I don't agree with this one.
RBG, what make of tubing bender are you using?
