Going through this myself, God I hope it's the heater control valve under the hood and not this. What a nightmare. Thanks for some great insight.

2012 Titan 104k: I heard knocking noises from my dash also, a couple of weeks before the heat stopped working. But I am not concerned with it because I live in Florida. My air conditioner works phenomenally and that's all I need or care about in this hot a** tropical state...as far as plastic used in trucks, I feel all trucks are the same. My new when I got it in 2011 Silverado, center console latch broke, a year into ownership...the Titan runs better, handles better, rides better, less wind noise, faster, and has better fit and finish than my Silverado had...

Would not get hot air, I heard that a screw like plastic piece is defective, and it’s located where the hoses to heater core loops, a small 2”x3” box , I popped that spiral bolt and got heat. I never put it back. 2014 S 2x4, moved bolt 4 yrs ago.

Great video. When you diagnosed the issue, was air still coming out of the vents on the defrost and cabin?

Yes, it would just not get hot. If you have no air then might be your blower resistor.

Yes its a pain in the butt, however you could have saved yourself $550 by doing it over the weekend.

It has been over a year since you did this repair. Is it still working??

I sold the truck to a friend and since I did not hear anything about it I assume its still working right.

Thanks for posting this. I have disconnected the actuator blend door motor but I can still hear a light tick . its not coming from the driver side actuators because I have replaced both of those. Its also not my recycle fresh air motor to the extreme right on the dash as it works fine . I have manually put the blend door to cold and I now have ac but I have no clue as to what actuator is left to replace or inspect? There is also the one on the bottom but I have full blower control so I know that's not it. any ideas ?

Michael, I wanted to personally thank you for this video. I took my 2006 Titan to the dealership and they wanted $1408.00 to replace the part. The part itself only cost $46.00. I did the repairs myself and in total it cost $110 for the diagnostic, $46 for the blend motor and I paid an additional $70 for a actuator that was knocking. A grand total of $226 by watching your video. For all, its not a easy job, Michael did a great job of supplying the tools needed but I needed a T-15 star wrench instead of the T-20 but everything worked out well. The dealer told me 5 hours to disassemble and 5 hours to reassemble, in all it took me about 8 hours total and I am not a true mechanic, just mechanically inclined. Also, when you disconnect your air-bag you'll need to reset it, do not take it to the mechanic, there's a video on youtube that will take you step by step, it took me less than 3 minutes to reset it, no more blinking light on my dash. My advice, buy some small plastic snack bags, a marker, tape, and every part that you disassemble tape the bag with the screws to the part. I got a little confused although I did place all the screws in a bag but I should have separated them better. Other than that, it was a breeze, no need to pay the dealer when with some time, you can save a lot of money. My heat blows extremely hot now, thanks Michael!! Also, I found that its easier to simply remove the blend motor and the housing bracket all at the same time, you're wasting your time trying to remove the blend motor only, back screw is too hard to reach. Gently remove both the bracket and the blend motor, don't just snatch it off, you want to leave everything else just as it is. Good luck my friends!!

Thank you for the kind words. Yes bags to help to remember where all the screws go I remember the order but at times it does fail lo. as far as the airbag light I think disconnecting the battery would solve this issue. I could be wrong. Anyway glad it helped you out and you actually found the video. Wonder how many others it helped Has over 3300 views. Thank you again

Toooo much plastic in these trucks for what people pay for them

    • @michaeljn5746
      @michaeljn5746  7 років тому

That they do. I do wish trucks had a high end finishes like Audi gives you in the nicer cars. They can do it but it will affect the fuel economy that is already an issue since they weigh so much from the get go. Hard to win really.

I agree, that is why I buy used cars. Would not spend 30k to 40k on a new truck

*This is absolutely ridiculous for a production vehicle requiring this kind of bullshit to replace a 50 cent plastic arm*
I’d just sell the hunk of shit before I went thru all that to fix this junk

That would be too easy. Its not a bad job just takes a while. Do you remember the older S10? You had to pull the whole dash out to replace the Heater core. Some people Just cut a access hole under the hood to get to it. From Chevy to Toyota to Mercedes they all have short comings.

"Take off the shift handle" but you dont show how.
"Pull off this part" but you don't show how.
Pull out the controls but you only show how to unplug them.
    The rest, not so bad.
