      Hey, I believe that science credits need to be no more than five years old… When I was applying to nursing schools, I remember that most places will accept credits that were obtained under 10 years ago for gen eds and science credits that were obtained under five years ago. Definitely reach out to an advisor to double check!

    Hello! I’m currently a new student at Chamberlain in the Chicago area. Do you know if in between sessions there is a break? Or are the classes literally back to back between each session.

    • @theluckienurse
      @theluckienurse  2 роки тому +8

      Hey! Welcome to Chamberlain 😊
      Classes are back to back. A course will end on a Sunday and the next course starts the very next day. We get two breaks during the year: Spring Break, which is a week. And then we get Winter Break which is two weeks in December (around Christmas). Other than that, we have a few three day weekends throughout the year (Labor Day, July 4th)… hope that helps!

    • @theluckienurse
      @theluckienurse  2 роки тому +8

      Thank you so much! So far the work load is manageable for me working full time because I’m used to it. It really just depends person to person… I was doing pre-nursing courses while finishing up a masters program and working full time, so now just having nursing school and working full time is less on my plate than I’m used to. If you’re not used to working while in school, it is definitely an adjustment and you will need to figure out what time management means for you… but it is totally possible!

    • @theluckienurse
      @theluckienurse  2 роки тому +5

      Hey! It’s best to reach out to a student advisor at chamberlain to get an estimate of what your classes will cost if you transfer in with some credits, because each campus has a different price per credit.
      I fortunately didn’t have student loans from my previous degrees. I worked full time, paid out of pocket, and had a scholarship for my second degree. I took out federal loans for this degree, and I’m paying the difference out of pocket. A lot of students do federal loans and then take out private loans to pay the difference!

    Is it somewhat easy like what subjects do you have to be top notch in

    • @theluckienurse
      @theluckienurse  8 місяців тому

      Hey! Is what somewhat is heat? Chamberlain university or nursing school?
      Both are hard lol Chamberlain is especially difficult because it is an accelerated nursing program. Chamberlain fits four years of school into a three year program, so you have to know everything in a very condensed amount of time. You don’t have to be especially top notch in any particular subjects. Being focused and good at time management is more important

      @theluckienurse  10 місяців тому

      Hey! So some campuses for Chamberlain do have an online option, but the program that I am in is in person. So all of my classes are in person, on campus.
      Since I’m in the evening and weekend program, my classes start week nights at 6pm. Some classes have me only going to campus once a week while others are 2-3 time a week. And then I go to clinicals on Saturday or Sunday during the day.
      I hope this helps!

    • @theluckienurse

      Hey, yes! But I don’t think that every campus has this option available. I attended the Tysons Corner campus, and when I started the program that was not an option for me. I think about a year into me starting, the hybrid program was developed for Tysons Corner.

    • @theluckienurse
      @theluckienurse  Рік тому +2

      Thank you for watching!
      On my campus, the evening classes always start at 6 PM. You can have class any weeknight. I usually have classes two nights a week, either Mondays and Wednesdays or Tuesdays and Thursdays. There was one session last summer where I had to go to campus for class four nights a week though!
      The length of a class just varies depending on which course you are taking. Some courses are two hour classes, many are 3 hour classes, and I’ve had a course that was 4 hours in the evening once.
      Classes change every eight weeks, so your schedule will change every eight weeks.
      I hope that helps!

    I do really well in online classes. I don't care about not having a social life. But I am trying to look for a program where I can still work full time and go to school part time. As of right now I am at a community college. Because I can't afford a absn program based on me being a co teacher and my job just wants to pay me just a 1,000 dollars and thats it. Yeah I am having to pay for school out of pocket and I am also completing a medical assistant program and then after that i'm applying to Nursing school at my community college it's much cheaper. It's the path that I am choosing because working in the education field just isn't worth it at all. I need options in my life.

    • @theluckienurse
      @theluckienurse  16 днів тому

      I think that is an amazing path to choose. It sounds insanely difficult, but if you are determined enough just about anything is possible. It is sacrifice now for a fulfilling, rewarding, and lucrative career. And going to Community College and paying out of pocket is by far the smartest financial decision that you can make when it comes to getting a nursing degree. Good luck!!!

      Hey! That I’m actually not sure. In the evening and weekend program on my campus, the people in my class are mostly mid 20s- mid 30s. I’ve had people in class over 50 though, and it seems like the day time program has a lot of younger students - early 20s. It just depends on your campus, and your cohort!

    Do you know if having nursing prerequisites takes time off of the 3 years? I saw a student talk on tik tok saying it would only be a year and a half for her because she had prerequisites.

    • @theluckienurse
      @theluckienurse  Рік тому +3

      Hey, yes it can. But with Chamberlain specifically, I believe the quickest that you are allowed to finish the program is two years and four months - and I believe the only way that you can cut it down to that is if you transfer in with absolutely all of your prerequisites completed.
      I transferred in with over 30 credits, and it will still take me a total of three years to complete the program. But my final year in the program, I’m only having to take one class at a time while most of my classmates are taking multiple classes… So even though I have to attend school the entire three years, it’s a significantly less workload on me.

    • @TheKyleeKae
      @TheKyleeKae Рік тому

      @@theluckienurse thank you so much for this info. I have an associates degree and all nursing prerequisites (a&p 1 and 2), micro, Chem, statistics, etc. I’m going to have them look at an unofficial and tell me before applying. The only reason I would choose Chamberlain as if it was last time because I can get into an ASN program locally and then go to school and get my BSN online for less than a year and all and all that would add up to three years.

    • @theluckienurse

      Hey! I think it just depends on what type of learner you are. There are certain classes for me that I definitely benefited from having in person because I pay more attention that way.. those would be classes like patho. I actually took pharmacology online, and I REALLY wish that I had it in person because I really did not retain as much as should have.
