  • Hey guys!
    Sorry it took so long but I'm back with some updates! I took a poll almost a year ago on my Instagram asking for you all to send me questions about my nursing program and I finally had some time to sit and answer some of them! Hope you all enjoy the video!

    Hi! I am hoping to start at Chamberlain this upcoming May 2022 and I just came across your video! Love it! We are so similar in excitement and space outs that I would be so grateful if you made a video explaining your study styles/ tips and tricks for when it came to locking in all the information. I am so nervous I'll read things so many times and it still won't stick. Please help and congratulations on your journey so far! :)

      Hey hey hey! That is so exciting and I hope you get in and it’s an amazing experience ❤️❤️❤️! I actually really wanted to make a video like that because I feel like not many people openly talk about learning disabilities or how to navigate nursing school with different learning styles and I would’ve personally benefited from that myself so I will definitely try to make a video on that! It definitely took me a long time to figure out what works best for me but once I figured it out, it was the best thing that ever happened for me career wise and academically. So excited for you and hopefully I can get a video up sooner than later 😉❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

    Hi Danielle, congratulations to you and i am pretty sure you’re already graduated by now. I have a quick question, do you know anyone getting in chamberlain with background record on moral turpitude? If i wanted to apply or wanted to know if i could be an eligible to get into nursing whom would you suggest to contact first that way ill know what to expect. I tried calling the advisor it was no help. She wanted me to apply in chamberlain and pass the hesi and only after that they will can decide further. Please suggest what can i do further i am in dilemma whether or not to go further from this point. But all my heart wants is to be nurse 😢

    I was wondering what tips you could give for narrowing down content for patho exams or any studying tools you found useful ?

    • @daniellesanchez2814
      @daniellesanchez2814  2 роки тому +2

      Oh my.. it's been a long time since I took patho! EEK! I would say focus on the disease process and make it come to life. Talk through it with your friends. Pretend that you have the disease and make it personal. I know it sounds silly, but I swear it works. As far as studying for ATI exams, DO PRACTICE QUESTIONS. I live by practice questions. Also, read the ATI CMS books - they are phenomenal and they are all I've used my whole program.

    I'm glad that your experience as been good so far. I've read alot of stories about how hard it is to get into chamberlain and some has really good grades but still can't get in. My question is do you know if there are people who actually did get in with low GPA?

    • @daniellesanchez2814
      @daniellesanchez2814  2 роки тому +3

      You know, that’s a hard thing to determine. I’m not sure what campus you specifically are referring to, but for the Sacramento campus it’s very competitive and it’s even more competitive now than it was when I got in a couple of years ago. I will say what I’ve been told by a number of professors is that it’s not all about the GPA. There are a LOT (I mean a LOT) of people I know who applied with 4.0s and really high entrance exam scores and did not get excepted the first or second time where other students (like me) with competitive but not high scores were accepted. There’s a whole bunch of factors that play into getting excepted, many that I do not know. But I can say for myself, I did not have a 4.0 GPA. I did meet the GPA requirement at my campus which I think is a 3.4 and I was in the low 80s on my HESI because I had not taken any of the sciences when I applied so the expected my scores in that section to be lower. My opinion is, don’t worry about what other people have or what their GPA is. If you want to apply and you qualify, apply. Just focus on you and be confident in what you bring to the table and the rest is out of your hands. Be completely honest and share your heart in the passion and purpose statement that you write with your application and it know that it’s not always about the numbers 😉. I’m excited for you! If you end up applying, update me. I’m rooting for you! ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️

      @J L Sacramento has different criteria for admission. Our school is one of the smallest campuses and one of the most difficult to get into unfortunately.. and they just raised admission to 45 students, three times annually. At our open house they flat out said don’t apply unless you have a 3.4 GPA. It’s just extremely competitive. I have heard in other states you can get in with a lower GPA and I always encourage people to do that if they are able to! ❤️

    Hey girl! I love your video. So im guessing because you didn’t complete the courses at your local community college (human anatomy etc) you had to do your courses at chamberlain? If so, did it take long? We’re they hard? How soon were you able to start preparing for clinicals after completing your general education courses

    • @daniellesanchez2814
      @daniellesanchez2814  Рік тому +1

      Hi! I DID take all my classes at local community colleges. Which is why my program was only 2 years and 4 months ☺️. I did all my sciences over spring and summer right before I started (highly do not recommend doing that. It was BRUTAL.) bc I went in with all my prereqs done, I started clinical I think 4-6 months in? Can’t remember now it was so long ago. But Covid hit right when we started fundamentals which is the first clinical rotation so we didn’t go to that. Everything is back to normal now and on schedule.

    • @daniellesanchez2814
      @daniellesanchez2814  Рік тому +1

      Clinical rotations are set with specific classes. The first clinical is fundamentals of nursing 2, then adult health 1 & 2 (med surg), then specialties after that - L&D/Maternal Newborn, Peds, mental health, complex adult health (ICU), and community ☺️

    Danielle, thank you for making these videos. I think the most important thing that I want to know is who will hire a chamberlain graduate in California. I have heard a lot of for profit private university graduates have a hard time getting hired at major hospitals. I live in the east bay and the hospital im interested in doesnt hire graduate from unitek, WCU, carrington, and gurnick as far as I know. So its one of my biggest concerns about chamberlain’s program. If you can make an update after your nclex that would be awesome!

    • @daniellesanchez2814
      @daniellesanchez2814  3 роки тому +5

      Hey there! I worked for five years at John Muir before I started school. They have amazing hospitals over there 😊.
      I personally know a lot of graduates get hired right out of school at the Sutter Hospitals in Sacramento. A lot of students that I know that have gone to my school are not seeking employment out in the Bay Area like I will be. I do have one friend that graduated and she got hired on at Stanford straight out of school at Chamberlain as well. From my understanding the schools you listed are not BSN programs. I could definitely be wrong but I know Carrington for sure is an ADN program. WCU (if this is West Coast) I’m pretty sure it is a BSN program so I’m not sure why they wouldn’t hire you? Unfortunately in California a lot of the hospitals are requiring you to have your bachelor degree especially if it’s a Magnet hospital.
      If you have a bachelor level degree and are applying for nursing jobs and you graduated from an accredited program, then they should consider all applicants as eligible to apply. Unless it has to do with accreditation or degree level, I don’t believe they can tell you you cannot apply. I would definitely call HR and speak to someone directly about this and get the answers you need.
      Now what I have heard with some other schools is that something takes place at some point and the hospital might view the school as having a bad reputation, but that is usually in result of incidents that take place during clinical with students or professors. I have also heard things about Unitek, and Gurnik, they are very similar to a program like Carrington College. Not that anything is wrong with that but for me, I knew what hospitals I was going to apply to and they required a bachelor level education.
      I would say our program is very much like Samuel Merritt’s program. You can build up to a masters or even an NP/DNP at both Chamberlain and SMU.
      I hope this is helpful. I also thought Chamberlain was going to be like Carrington because I went to Carrington for my medical assisting like 13 years ago but they are VERY different types schools and programs.❤️

    • @daniellesanchez2814
      @daniellesanchez2814  2 роки тому

      Hi! So there were CORE assignments and regular professor assigned things and the CORE assignments have to have an average of i think 78%? Maybe it’s actually higher now. I know they changed the grading school towards the end of my program but I can’t even remember what it was. From my recollection, almost everyone was able to keep up with the grading policy change and meet requirements. But I honestly don’t remember what they were anymore I just powered through everything And try not to focus on that because it would make me get anxiety lol 😂. 90% is VERY tough - that has to be very challenging! You got this girl!!!! ❤️

    I start Community in 2 weeks! How was that class??

    • @daniellesanchez2814
      @daniellesanchez2814  2 роки тому +1

      You know, community will be what you make of it ha ha. It was not like the other nursing classes where you’re doing clinical in the hospital and providing bedside patient care and what not. I was personally at an elementary school and I was also at a women’s shelter so you’re doing a lot of health promotion activities. Like at the school, we would do age-appropriate teaching about damages of smoke in the air quality because there was a bunch of fires going on at the time. We also would sit with the kids while they were doing arts and crafts and talk to them about fruits and vegetables and do they know why they need to brush their teeth or do they know what happens and what they do if there’s a fire. With the women shelter, we provided information about car seats and how to properly feed your baby and perform CPR for children… all of that type of stuff. It’s not the most exciting class but it gives you some experience out in the community setting. Another thing we did was we did a windshield survey where you go and pick a city and you go around and look at the housing conditions, you see if they have adequate grocery stores what kind of resources they have available to them, all that stuff. In the moment, I was not a fan of these assignments but looking back I can understand and appreciate why they’re a necessary part of our program.If you are at the California campus specifically, we have a lot more hours than the rest of the campuses because of the requirements in California so I highly recommend doing everything you can ahead of time and just get ahead of the work because the assignments tend to pile up pretty quickly. Good luck to you and that’s so exciting you’re getting so close to the end!
