    Girl, who are you telling ???? I was there and I finished my degree and am now studying for NCLEX. it was stressful and I am recovering from PTSD. anyway, we made it, and congrats to both of us! #RNBSN2023

    Congratulations for making it through the program. Thank you for your candor. Chamberlain is too expensive for this kind of disorganization. I'm still looking at other schools. I'm happy for you and your classmates but also sorry for how you all were treated so disrespectfully. Best Wishes and much success!!!

    I am a junior at Chamberlain in New Orleans. I am so happy that you have completed the program!! It would be a good idea for Chamberlain to choose their professors carefully. We have a professor that is kind but does not teach well at all. I am an LPN, so I am doing well in her class, but for the students who have no experience, it doesn't seem fair. I watched your video after this and saw you passed your NCLEX and are officially an RN!!!! Congratulations!!

      Thank you so much!! And I agree - the professor that you have can honestly make or break you in a class. Unfortunately, I think there is such a shortage of educators that the school possibly takes what they can get in terms of teachers

      Hey, I don’t meant to scare anyone lol honestly, chamberlain is so expensive that I would personally advise looking at other and more affordable degree programs/school. If the money doesn’t matter to you or if you are willing to pay it, then chamberlain does have a good curriculum and is a good school.

    Hi Melissa
    I'm sorry your last semester wasn't so great. My program uses examsoft for unit exams but ATI for dosage calculation exams. I would say ATI is pretty convenient and has lots of resources to practice before test day. Also, my program typically has between 2-4 professors per class. So if one prof isn't doing it for us, the other ones would usually make up for it. FYI, mine is ADN.
    I get a lot of insights watching your videos. I love what you had to say about getting a degree immediately after your nursing program. Gave me something to think about...

    Congratulations on being an RN!!! Just wondering if the exams/tests were online or in person? Were they recorded? How “hard” were the classes and if you found help whenever you needed it? Or did you have to figure it out all on your own? For example UA-cam.. etc?
    Sorry for the long question, but I think a lot of people would benefit from your answer :) and thank you!!

    • @theluckienurse
      @theluckienurse  2 місяці тому

      Thank you!! All exams were in person. I did start during the pandemic, so at first some exams were online and we had to take it in a lockdown browser using a camera. Now all exams are on campus, in a lockdown browser, with a camera, AND a proctor in the room with you.
      I think most classes were challenging, if not extremely difficult. The school did provide enough resources to be successful. Unfortunately, sometimes you have awful professors and can feel like you are on your own (which is why I used UA-cam and Simple Nursing throughout the program…) but the school had tutors and recorded lectures available to all students at no additional cost!

      Hey, I just made and uploaded a review of the entire nursing program at Chamberlain and whether or not I would recommend the school. Unfortunately, I can’t speak to the Irving campus specifically because I attended the Tysons’s Corner campus in VA.
      I would advise you to join the Facebook group for that particular campus and see what people are saying to get a feel for both the good and the bad! Good luck!

    Congratulations! I start Chamberlin in January…. Do you have any tips on studying for nursing school while working full time. Also , any tips or styles of note taking that helped you?

    • @theluckienurse
      @theluckienurse  5 місяців тому

      Thank you! And congratulations to you!!! My biggest tip would be to find a study schedule that works for you. Teachers will “scare” you and say that you need to study a certain number of hours everyday. It may not be possible for you to study each day, and that’s okay! When I was in school, I would work on homework an average of 4 days a week (usually in the evenings after work), and I would dedicate one full day to studying each week (either Saturday or Sunday where I’d study for 4-6 hours). Sometimes when life got busy, I’d cram studying and homework all in one day. I wouldn’t advise that though!
      As long as you find a system that works for you, and you are understand the content and pass the exams, ignore what anyone else says! Good luck!!!

    How flexible would you say the program is. If you have a miss a class or clinical are you dismissed?

    • @theluckienurse
      @theluckienurse  5 місяців тому +1

      I don’t think the program, or nursing school in general, is flexible at all. I think attendance policies differ, depending on what campus you are on. Our attendance policy used to be that you could not miss more than three classes in a session, but toward the end of my program, they changed it where you could not miss two weeks of classes in a row, otherwise you are dropped from the class. Clinical is definitely much more strict. You have to get permission to miss a clinical and it has to be a really good reason (I’ve had friends denied weddings and funerals as reasons to miss…). And then you have to make up theclinical , or else you fail thr course. I know of people who came to Clinical 5-10 minutes late and ended up being sent home, failing the clinical, and having to retake a class. But that all depends on your professor/clinical instructor and how strict they are. Some are more lenient than others. Hope this helps!

    If you could do your educational career path all over again, would have gotten your MHA first or completely skip the MHA and go to Nursing School? I am asking because I’m in a similar situation where I am in an MHA program because I need a higher paying job. I have to work during nursing school. I am planning to go to nursing school afterwords. I’m completing prerequisites while in my MhA program. Do you think the MHA program helped you while studying to be a nurse?

    • @theluckienurse
      @theluckienurse  4 місяці тому

      First off, congratulations! Being in a masters degree program is huge and I’m happy that you are furthering your career! A nursing degree and a MHA go really well together!
      If I could go back in time, I would get my MHA first all over again. Having my masters degree opened up so many doors for me, and I was able to really build a life for myself because of that degree. My MHA helped me get higher paying jobs before and during nursing school. and I was able to make between 55 to 65K each year that I was in nursing school (Minus the last like 10 months before I took a lower paying job for lower stress, but even then, that was my choice). Since I was able to make more money, I didn’t have to take out as many loans as a lot of my classmates who were working lower paying jobs during the program.
      And in some ways, it helped me study to be a nurse because my MHA taught me academic discipline.. it was easy for me to write papers in nursing school or spend all day at the library on the weekend because I was used to doing it from my MHA. I also knew that financially, I would probably be OK if I dropped out of school because I had my MHA to fall back on. For me that was a good thing because it took some of the pressure off of my nursing program lol But for other people, it may have made it easier for them to give up.
