Also, just a fan for a long time, this is a steal. I have too Many IRs right Now. What I need are captures. Neural Ann Profiles. Can You Make this Happen? I will advocate lol! Long time fan
Sounds great. It could be just me, but it almost sounds like the input into the pedal is a bit too hot causing a sorta spitty distortion. I’d be interested to hear if rolling the guitar volume back clears it up
It sounds a Shredmaster (the marshall pedal) with mods! There are great mods for that pedal. I have owned 2 mods and 1 original. The original is very bland, and one of the mods popular on the internet just doesnt help much. There are other mods which add a lot of that "crunch, meaty" tone. At the same time it sounds like a Plexi style like the Guvnor with the power amp saturation (it sounds "fat") boosting either a Angry Charlie circuit variation The other possibility is that this pedal is a modified Bogner Ecstasy channel red. The Esctasy red channel pre amp has awful bright EQ but meaty high gain, so they might have also altered the Bogner Ecstasy pre amp. Also as a final note, one day people will appreciate more Create and cheap Randall solid state amps (The 100 or 120W version) because when the gain is cranked, they sound just as meaty as the Bogner but with more definition. 99% of people just don't like Crate and Randall solid state because they forget to plug an EQ pedal in the loop and remove 500~800hz, frequency. I hope one day you try the Crate pre amp pedal one day and you will realize when used with an EQ AFTER it, it sounds brutal, it can do grunge, 80s heavy, death metal and classic rock. If you try the amp, use the EQ on the fx loop
John you are not using the poweramp flat at any point, so for some use cases, like going directly into a daw it may not yield similar results as you obtained here (even buying your IRs and I agree the hesu demon is beautiful, I use it exclusively at this point). With your permission I'd like to suggest a small section where you either go directly into the daw or you use the power amp that is flat. (most silly damn IR loaders dont have a resonance/presence knob wtf right?). This may serve as a more transparent representation of products as opposite to stacking them with other amps / pedals and what not. Maybe you find your own tweak on how to exactly address this but I just wanted to point it out. Oh and one more thing, please, please, please pretty please, don't skip using 7 or 8 string guitars or very low tuned baritones (drop A and beyond) for reference . Thank you and happy new year.
Hey thanks for your suggestion! I don't really agree to be honest. I don't see a lot of people running a pedal like this into a very flat setup. That's just not a flattering sound. Hynotone even suggested the PandorA to me and I agreed because it's a great poweramp platform to try pedals like these with. Sure, I added some presence and resonance as that will give a result that's much more representative of what people would be using themselves. Whether it's an fx return from say a peavey or some other amp. Or even a poweramp. In the end everybody uses different pieces of gear, different speakers and cabs etc. So there's simply not a way to do this so that everyone knows exactly how the pedal sounds on their setup. It's up to me to demo the pedal in a way that I personally deem representative and I think with this video you get a really good idea of how the pedal sounds in general. If you want a broader picture there are some more videos out there of this pedal through different poweramps
@@SonicDriveStudio it is kinda funny for you to say that because these days nobody (outside of big acts) is using amps or cabs on Stage. Everyone and their mother is using modellers including big acts. So the most likely scenario for a preamp pedal is to go hooked into a modeller or an IR loader which normally don't have a resonance or presence knob . Also without a neutral reference point is difficult to really know what one is gonna get. Gear gets tested through diverse amps or poweramps that even if readily available, hardly a touring musician is using now a days, also since there is no consensus on what amp or power amp to use, the combinations are endless. In your case you now use your own IR's on top of that so there are more fluctuating factors than constants (again there is no concensus on a readily available IR for example). All of this don't mean it sounds bad or anything is wrong, I'm trying to share a point of view, and again please don't leave out very low tunings in the tests. Thanks and happy new year to you.
@musicsurfandrats I appreciate you sharing your point of view! In my personal opinion I wouldn't not recommend using a pedal like this with a modeler unless you have some sort of power amp simulation going on. These types of pedals (and standalone preamp pedals too) simply don't sound very good without a poweramp.
@@musicsurfandratsthat is simply untrue. There are plenty of people using combos or small 212 stacks because nobody really needs 100w anymore, and most of the time people are using their full sized rigs in the studio to get the sound they want while bringing their profiles on the road, and I assure you profiling this pedal through a Poweramp would be super easy.
@SonicDriveStudio He has one of the best tones I've seen on ToneNet, I was trying to find him online, and I noticed he follows you on ToneNet along with 2 other people :). They are very nice Tones, so clear, and full sounding, unlike many other captures I've seen on ToneNet.

OK...that first riff simply melted my face!!!! Awesome video as usual!
Sorry about your face! 🤣
@@SonicDriveStudio
Sounds so great for such an affordable price!
That first riff kicked my arse, sounds awesome
Dayum that's pretty awesome for 99...might have to test drive this
Nice tones !
I can definitely recommend the Pandora 🤘🏻
I use the Science Amplification Mother Preamp with PandorA and the Medusa for my travel rig.
killer track 🙏 had this tough sort of metalcore vibe going on , the pedal sounds sick with the pandora as well, that price is crazy good
Thanks Paul!
One for the algorithm. Thx Jon!
Cheers!

Yes. That’s exactly how I would set it, but post eq of course
Sounds great.

🔥 Another good one
Thanks!
Reminds Me of the Brute Raven By tone ink, in Brazil. I’m snagging this. I can’t afford any of Your Amps anymore lol.
John, do you know about Omega amp? I'd like you to do a review of omega granophyre sometime.
I've heard of them but I've never been in touch. Would love to review one!
While we're on the subject, could you possibly make a video on the Electro Harmonix power amp pedals? 44 Magnum, Howitzer 15, 5MM
sounds great for 99$!
Sure does!
