  • Today’s market is full of defensive pistols of all shapes and sizes, making for tough decisions when it comes time to make a purchase. With regard to a carry gun, everyone has his or her own preference, but for a lot us it ultimately boils down to price and reliability. Enter the Taurus Millennium G2 9 mm, a lightweight, 13-round capacity, polymer-frame, striker-fired semi-automatic pistol. The folks at Taurus International know the pistol business and know that reliability is the most critical quality.

    Got mine last year for $199 plus tax. LOVE IT!!! It has never failed to go BANG in well over 1000rds fired. There was a slight hesitation to go to battery periodically when it was new. This was solved by a quick polishing of the feed ramp (mainly the bottom portion in the lower receiver, below the barrel assembly). The split feed-ramp was causing hollow-points to hesitate feeding for just a fraction of a second. Some Flitz or MAAS metal polish and ten seconds with a Dremel tool will fix this slight stutter, if it bothers you. It's now my primary CCW. It replaced my S&W Shield 9mm which has not left the locker since the G2 came home. I've qualified twice with it now as my off-duty carry, scoring possibles both times. Best $199 I ever spent.

    Went to the range to try mine out and everyone there had one of these. Anecdotal evidence that Taurus has a hit with the Millennium G2. Love the way it works. I haven't heard anyone who has one wanting to get rid of it and mine is a true value and a bargain in today's handgun market. Thanks for the video.

    sad to say that I haven't purchased it yet. The shooting range that I practice at sells them four $199. 12 round clips 2 for that price is a steal. Hopefully they will have them the next time I go.

    i love this thing, i've had it for about a month now and i've put 200 rounds of cheap 115gr tullammo 9mm and it shot all of it without any jams. It's my daily carry.

    Great little gun. One of my dozens of guns and first "low cost" pistol. After running 100 rounds of various jhp and ball, without s single issue, this is now my daily carry.

    I love mine too, I carry my Taurus G2 "before" my M&P Shield now because of the 12 rd mag, and its just as reliable and comfortable from all my shooting and carrying. The single and double action is a really good thing too, now that I have that I don't know why all of the other manufactures would miss doing this and be twice the price. Lets face it, if Taurus can do all this for $249.00 why are we paying the other manufactures twice that for less? No one can say that quality is better or worse between this G2 and any other Glock like pistol. I've got three M&P's, a Walther's PPQ, and a few other 9MMs that I spend $450 to $750 for. Some of them have plastic guide rods as opposed to the steel in this Taurus. This Taurus favorably has less recoil then my Walther PPQ, because it's actually noticeably heavier, even being a smaller pistol.

    I have one. First thing I did, which was just personal preference, was replace the nested recoil springs with a complete stainless steel assembly. It's much more stout and has better control of the slide. Lake line LLC sells the complete assembly for $30

    I've had the 9mm for about 6 months and 700 rounds ago. Works every time and feels great . Slight weight ,but it's 13 rounds (12+1) with 2nd mag. that's 25 rounds. Easy to conceal IWB. My friend said, "don't get a Taurus, but from all the positive videos and a price of 198.00 ,I just had to get it and I'm glad I didn't listen to the ' only good gun is a Sig. ' talk.

    Well deserved gun of the week! I bought one 7 or 8 months ago and love mine too. It's the one I carry because it's very reliable and comfortable and I think looks really cool. I choose this one over my M&P Shield or full size M&P. My Shield doesn't but hold but 6 or 7 rounds, and the G2 has 12. I bought an extended mag for the Shield this month but it pops out every so often when firing which ruins feed/reliability. Thinking about selling the Shield and one of the full size M&Ps i have. I'd rather have two G2's for dual carry. I know I posted before. Forgot about that when I posted this, fyi I still feel the same way, lol.

    Arguably this model has become the single best buy in its Class--I have a Glock 26 and honestly speaking the Taurus Mil G2 is a definite alternative for those in the sub-compact 9mm market. It offers essentially the very same features as the Glock but at a *significantly lower price.*

  • @jawjww
    @jawjww 8 років тому +11

    for the price, capacity and size, this is a great option. 12 rounds for well under $300. I have an M&P shield that I love. however, the Taurus is only slightly larger and carries 4 extra rounds. 8 M&P vs 12 Taurus. Taurus was also much less $$$. all about individual preference of course.

      All reasons why my G2 replaced my Shield 9mm as my daily carry. Not to mention, the grip is WAY more comfortable than the Shield and there's the double-action capability too.

    Good presentation, esp. with the video and still cut-ins. Suggestion: it's helpful to small-screen viewers to use a contrasting background when illustrating a gun: black against black obscures details.

  • @thebrucechannel8061

    I've had some mixed results with my Taurus G2, started jamming on me after a few hundred rounds fired, found out I need to keep the gun extremely clean...not like a Beretta which can be run dirty. Also tried a few Glock clips in the Taurus which initially worked but later started to cause malfunctions.
    Still overall a decent gun for the money and a good concealed carry.

    I love my Taurus! I recommend only using US made ammo in this one. The striker does not have enough punch to be reliable with some of the harder primers on foreign ammo. I've had a lot of misfires (as much as 10%) with European ammo. Never a problem with US ammo.

    • @5Ring
      @5Ring 7 років тому +2

      Definitely! I used to be an anti-Taurus gun snob. I've gone through multiple carry guns in the last ten years including Glock, M&P, Bersa and others. After I bought my G2, I sold my M&P40c, my Shield 9mm and my Kel-tec P11. Its now my go-to carry gun. It fits in all my M&P compact holsters but is a bit thinner. its a compromise between the 40c and the Shield. Small like the shield but double-stack like the 40c. It also has a full length grip, unlike the Glocks all my friends carry. I've got a couple thousand rounds through mine without a malfunction of any type. Ii bought it two years ago when they were selling for $199. Best money I ever spent on a gun. Now I have a Taurus PT22 and a PT845. Both of those have performed perfectly as well. Taurus is not the junk-gun maker snobs make it out to be.

    Taurus has been vindicated. Yeah,they have had some turkeys,usually something released too early,before being tested enough. Way back in the '70's,I bought one of the first Taurus revolvers imported to the US,a K frame copy of the S&W .38,with adjustable sights. It was a piece of shit. Wound up selling it to my uncle,since no gun shop would take it in trade. Stuff like this resulted in a bad reputation for Taurus,and took away from their really great offerings later. I've since owned many Taurus revolvers,now have a five shot .41 Mag,compensated barrel,that I bought used. Love the gun,it's dependable and accurate. The computer comma does out there,who have no experience but a lot of bullshit,have labeled all Taurus junk thru hearsay. But those who actually know something about guns disagree. I'm buying a PT111.

    Bought one the first of Jan., it had a chamber out of spec, sent it back, 4 months later I called wanting to know what the heck. They said they would send me a new gun, 5 weeks later it arrived, opened the box, no plastic bag, noticed surface rust on the slide, picked it up, it was NASTY been shot a LOT. I tried it, would not fire 2 rounds without jamming, called and sent it back after being lied to about them "test firing" it, if any numb nuts DID fire it, they would have known it was screwed up! Springs missing and broken. Now they want to "fix" this junker and me be happy paying new price for a rebuilt shotout junker. SCREW TAURUS!!! NEVER AGAIN!!!!

    Every body says the same thing!! FOR THE PRICE this is a great gun. Every gun like it on the market is a polymer frame 9mm with a steel slide. The basic premise was first designed by H&K VP70, it took Glock 12 years to finally market their G17. Everyone one of those guns is a clone. Yeah some better and some worse. Is there really any reason to charge us three or four times the price? I don't think so. FOR THE PRICE, all the other guns are highway robbery. That doesn't mean I wouldn't want a Sig Sauer, or an H&K, and heck I would trade in my Honda for a Lexus or a Volvo; but I'm not paying for it. Knock yourselves out.

      I use Winchester white box 115 gr for most of my range practice. I keep it loaded and have used at the range Hornady critical defense 115 gr. Haven't had a single hiccup with either after 550 rounds. I do clean the gun after each range visit. Taurus definitely had a mixed reputation in the past, but so far this G2 is a winner as far as I'm concerned, and youtube reviews seem to agree. I paid $225 after the rebate. Talk about value! Plus it takes sig p226 mags. Glocks certainly have their fan base, but at approx. $425 less I am very happy with this purchase. Carry it every day in a barsony natural leather holster...very comfortable, single belt clip.

    Let us be intellectually honest & truthful.
    1- Taurus Pistols do work, *no doubt.*
    2 - Glocks are higher in value, higher in re-sale value, quality & performance *no doubt.*
    A - Buy a Taurus to save money, period.
    B - Buy a Glock for long term savings and high value.
    *Easy peasy.*
