Late to this. Been heavily struggling with bs ing in township. Had no idea there was so much to this and kept calling it jank and broken. Definitely will be putting all this to practice, as with everything in this game the lesson is to never give up and always strive to improve. There is a way to overcome everything. Just learned how to t/e for stunlock and felt like a boss and had this next big challenge thrown in my face. I can kill Manus, Gwyn, Kalameet without sweat and then some bandit with a mace can ruin me!
Very nice video. I haven't played ds1 in a while but performing reverse rolls, barrel rolls and hyperpivots were always extremely satisfying to me. And there's nothing quite like the quick decision making and movement of ds1 pvp. For the most part, the unintended and intended features fit together miraculously well in terms of the pvp.

Yeah even over the 5 years I'm playing the game now, there were some changes to the playerbase. Some more on the sweaty side, some chill guys, it's a good community for the most part with some exceptions
Thanks for thorough guide to DSR PVP! I've just come to the point when i started to enjoy invasions, and got tired of constant backstabs for "no reason". Now I see that there is a sort of science to it. Nice montage and soundtrack btw.
Thanks! Because of rather bad netcode and lag many backstabs look like they shouldn't happen, but other than that they are wonky but consistent, also pretty much a must at higher skill levels!

Turn baits are my favorite. Not in a way that I can pull them off but it's satisfying to watch lol. The PTDE PvP back in the day traumatized me so much that I can't do any of the advanced stuff even though I know what to do it's hilarious. Always fun to see people like you do them but I still get my ass kicked even after 1.5k hours ahahah
Just came back after break from the game made a new quick build. So far I won all my invasions which are less than 10. 2 were 2v1 and I beat them. Definitely improvement in my play style which is more aggressive now by studying your videos. Thank you my friend for putting in the time and effort into these videos. For some reason your videos clicked with me in terms of improvement in pvp.
If that video came out when the remaster was released it would have helped so much. People could have understood and appreciated the way of the backstab

I knew all the stuff from this video except for the mid-bs swap, I had no idea you had to get stunned for that. This tech at 19:31 is super inconsistent but still worth trying if someones corner positioning is perfect
Yeah that corner pull thing is really more of a gimmick, I have never got it on a player who actually played 😅 the mid bs swap is pretty common tho, but also just a cool little gimmick for the most part, the damage actually changes tho
ayo bro idk if u talked abt it in the video but i really dont know how "trigger" the bs when im using a twohanded weapon, when im using the shield its easy cuz i do the L1 but when im using a weapon twohanded idk how do it, got any tip? plus answer: u think its better level 55 or 60-65 to pvp at anor londo?, idk which one is better cuz i wanna get the max advantage possible
I don't know if I understood you right, do you mean how to safely backstab while two-handing? In this case, you should kick-confirm: press kick when you're behind an opponent, if you are in place for a backstab you get it, if not you kick - which is better in nearly all cases compared to a normal attack, especially with all the big weapons. I'd say you should be around SL45 to 55 if you are invading and 55 to 65 when you're gravelording, a bit higher in both cases shouldn't be much of a problem either
@@fairlyvermicidal2711 oh I see, hm I don't know of a good guide from the top of my head, but the most important stats are vitality for HP and endurance for stamina and equipment load. My builds around level 50 to 70 always have around 1500 HP as example, meta builds around 133 have at least 1700 HP, 2000+ is preferable tho. If you use chaos/fire/lightning weapons, just go for the bare minimum of requirements your weapon of choice needs because infusions get rid of scaling in ds1/Re anyway. If you want to use standard/crystal weapons it's also pretty easy: 40 is the cap for strength and dexterity, I think 50 for intelligence and faith, so you don't need to go above that usually. So if you want to use quality weapons like Claymore or Zweihander, I suggest using a 28 or 40 Str build (2 handing multiplicates strength x1,5) with 40 dex as well. Str build just need 27/28 (2 handing) or 40 strength for basically being the most efficient (levels above don't do much). For dex builds, just invest up to 40 and the strength the weapon requires. So basicslly, elemental infused weapons don't need a lot of stats, but usually do less damage than a regular weapon with the right str/dex investment. At low levels, where you cant make these stat investments -> elemental imfusions are your best choice, at higher levels you should invest in some str/dex and look for regular upgraded weapons. Try to make a build with fast roll to start with (below 25 percent equipment load) and at least 36 poise to poise through the most common weapons. That's everything from top of my head, I'm planning to make a video about my builds soon

Nah man just practice, in this clip I just switched two pieces anyway, up to 4 or even 5 is no problem just with regular inputs, it's the same for pre-riposte swaps, people out there swap 6 pieces between the parry and the riposte and I can guarantee, that all this works without scripts. But switching armor while backstabbed isn't even that important, most pieces of armor have decent defense stats anyway, it's just for the few extra percent protection
its generous with the timing and its pretty much repeating. A ↓ A → A repeat. so its not to complicated plus fighting games have way more difficult inputs. like melee just doing a short hop neutral air fast fall L cancel ( which is the basics ) is harder than doing armor swaps on Backstab
