How would you rank the heroes, and what additional characters would you add to the list?
For me
1 Ivory King
2 Gael
3 Artorias
4 Nameless King
5 Morgott
6 Loretta
and maybe Sieglinde from Ds1
I would add Ludwig and…Rom. Yes, Rom, vacuous spider. She is Atlas of Bloodborne, as she tried to keep world safe from blood moon ritual. Also Sir Alonne, because he helped weak king with his service and trained his knights, who still respect him as they protect him, and after witnessing corruption of his king, he left him
Lorian Elder Prince is also a hero, as he killed Demon Prince who could restore Chaos Flame and protected his younger brother and shared a curse with him.
Also Lady Tomoe from Sekiro, because obvious reasons.
Sir Alonne and Fume Knight.
Also Burnt Ivory King has the best intro scene in the entire souls series rivaled may with Nameless King. The way the gate rises above and he starts sprinting towards you like he has a score to settle. Pretty much the same with Nameless King in his second phase when he starts walking towards you menacingly. I wish they hadn't made the rest of the game so hard and frustrating.

Great video, but personally, I think Miquella would have fit in the list.
First, he's an extremely powerful demi-god, a master magician (he invented multiple powerful golden order funtamentalist incantations) and a talented craftsman (he created works of art such as Malenia's prosthesis, the pulley crossbow, which is the most powerful crossbow in the game btw, the Golden Epitaph, and the unalloyed gold needles that are so powerful that they can ward off Outer Gods' meddling, and even cure it, and also). He's even revered as another deity, St.Trina, who controls potent sleep magic capable of charming even bosses.
But most importantly, he is kind of the embodiment of kindness and benevolence in my opinion, but it seems like in the DLC we'll learn about a darker side of his character... But yeah in the meantime he's like the most compelling character in all of Elden Ring (apart from Alexander and Boc, obviously).
Even then, out of all the shardbearers, Miquella and Malenia are the ones with the best intentions and actions : Godrick hunts and grafts people in a pointless search for power, Morgott clings to a dying order of racist enslavers, Rennala is... Rennala, Ranni literally caused the end of the world, and Mogh is a disgusting freak.
So in comparison, even if Miquella is kind of shady, or if he uses peole or whatever, I think I'd still root for him since he offers a safe haven to all those rejected and forsaken by the Golden Order, and strives to find a cure to his twin sister's condition and also bring peace to his older brother Godwin (the golden epitaph reads : "Oh Brother, Lord Brother, please die a true death")... And even as St.Trina, he brings respite and peaceful dreams to the suffering and the tormented, even quelling the nightmares brought by the flame of frenzy (but I think that's cut content).
Not to mention he is probably the one who helps us the most during our adventure : I believe he is Torrent's former master, and as such, he's the one who told Melina to give us the spectral ring whistle (that he created, since it's made out of unalloyed gold, and is also the work of a great craftsman), and he's also the one who sent Ranni to give us the spirit calling bell (evidenced by the fact that Miquella has a strong connection to spirits, since he's Torrent former master, and also by by the fact that when Ranni appears in the church of Elleh, Kalé and his dokey are put to sleep with St.Trina's magic, who is quasi-confirmed to be Miquella's alter-ego).
Anyway I can't wait for the DLC and sorry for the long post. :)

I mean he's that good of a king a literal shard of manus deeply falls in love with him and mourns his passing, keeping his legacy alive and protecting the world from the old chaos. All the other shards succeeded in overtaking and destroyed their kingdom and kings, alsanna did the exact opposite. Best and most tragic couple in souls, wish they got reunited in the end

That ending with Artorias hit me so hard. The way the screen got darker and darker as he was being consumed by the dark😭
It's my Headcanon that Artorius' soul, whether you use it or give it away, empowers you to fight Manus, and that Artorius' soul forms a sort of Aura around you (yes almost like a Stand) to give you that extra little umph you need to beat Manus.
Also, can we just appreciate how much of a bada** Ivory King is? The literal definition of "they had to jump me to have a chance" in every single situation. Oh, you're a shard of pure evil that corrupts everything? Here's unconditional love and support. Oh, you're a decades old evil that gods were scared of? Square up. Oh, I'm slowly losing my strength while this chaotic evil is getting stronger? You don't come out until I say so.

Also, I think the Ivory King is the most heroic character in Fromsoft, built his kingdom ontop of hell itself, and his throne room stood at its gates just so that he could be the very first line of defense against chaos. He was both kind to his people and always led the charge in battle, even sacrificing himself to save the kingdom and fighting to the last against chaos, and actually winning even if his soul was ultimately consumed. In a world of false prophecies, greed, and lies, the Ivory King stands above it all as the greatest hero.

You forgot Sieglinde, who bested most areas of ds1 despite not being Undead, all just to save her father from himself, before having to kill him to save his leagacy.
I'm going to die on this hill but ivory king is by far one of the best characters ever presented by fromsoft, literal hero with immense power capable of defeating characters like nameless king or soul of cinder ( by lore)

Siegward of Catarina will always be, not just my favorite onion, but hero of the DS series. An unkindled who's name apparently means guardian, he goes about protecting people, being a light of cheer in the most depressing of the three Dark Souls, and NOT ONLY befriending the lone giant Yhorm, but keeping his promise to slay him when he loses his senses! He is, by his own words he uses for you, a true friend. His valor and cheer will always be my favorite, and watching him charge in against a demon, or walk right up to Yhorm with his vow, will always show me his true, heroic spirit! Long may the sun shine!! 🍻
I loved him in DS3. At first I was just like 'oh he's like the ds 1 guy he's just gonna sit around and muse about how to get past something while I actually go and do it.' But then he sprang into action to actually help me fight a demon and from there he had my attention.

We could say Aldia is in someway also a hero. His whole mission was to break the curse, and he failed. He still tried to break the curse even as a immortal head. He did some fcked up shit but it was not with bad intentions. He maybe not the purest soul but not one of the evil either

He left his ring on his father's coffin as farewell. If Gwyn exiled him: 1) why wouldn't NK give it to him directly as a statement? 2) Why would Gwyn already have a coffin when he wasn't planning to go away yet?

I’m sorry but finlay is the most heroic individual in the series when her heroic act is put into perspective.
Finlay walked through the swamp of aeonia, limgrave, liurnia, dectus lift, part of Altus, leyndell, forbidden lands, and consecrated snowfield while carrying a sleeping Malenia and fending off enemies of all kind while also likely inflicted with rot. Also it’s possible that she didn’t take dectus and instead took ruin strewn precipice which means she went through even more of Altus.
Remeber this took place during the shattering, in a time where anyone would see a sleeping demigod and would attack and try to kill the demigod and Finlay fought ALL of them off single handedly.
Imagine walking through the whole map with scarlet rot, no torrent, no running, no fast travel, no flask or incants that cure rot, and enemy agro increased. That experience would be what Finlay went through

Y'know, one thing that I respect about The Ivory King is that when his wife revealed that she's one of the Manus' descendant, he simply said "I already know about your origin, but I don't care, I still love you", talk about loving husband...
Also the DLC offers one of my favorite weapon (Loyce Greatsword), it literally the most beautiful weapon I've seen and I think it's worth the struggle (goddamn ponies with their lightning)

Gael, Faaram (nameless' real name) and Artorias are the 3 og tragic heroes of Lordran. They saw the wrongs from the beginning, and tried to fix it.

Gwyndolin is a fascinating character to discuss. On the one hand, he is the rejected son of Gwyn, but also the last deity to keep watch over Anor Londo. On the other hand... he's a deceiver, a manipulator, and a defender of Gwyn's curse of the Darksign. I consider him equal parts hero and villain.

It’s worth mentioning that the story of the abysswalker was a lie created by ciaran. It is said that artorias destroyed the abyss and manus, repelled the dark wraiths of new londo. When in actuality, you did that.
We only did the first thing, there's no evidence that your time in New Londo is set in the past. So while he didn't kill Manus, there's no evidence Artorias didn't repel the dark wraiths long enough for New Londo to be flooded
Slave Knight Gael easily takes the cake for the sheer scale of his undertaking, and one of the few hero's who succeed completely, if the hints are true, the dark souls pigment world is free from the failings of the Dark Souls world.
It's not a fact that Loretta was an Albunauric, it's her shield that spawned a rumor that she was one, because it supposedly depicts this dew of life. Even the shield calls this an "absurd rumor". It calls the rumor absurd, which certainly implies that it's false, but it's not impossible that she really was an albunauric. Her finding and going to the Haligtree implies that she might be one, but it might also just mean that she empathises with their existance.

I kinda wish we got Loretta's shotgun spam spell from her 2nd phase, she's one of my favourite bosses and characters
I forget if Gehrman did anything dubious, but he stays the host of the hunters dream and mercy kills all the other hunters to spare them from the unending purgatory of it after they complete their journey. It turn, keeping himself locked in the dream forever. Not to mention setting a precedent for hunters.

The first that comes to mind is Eileen, and she only turns mad because of someone that isn't out of control, she just needs one good friend (us) to stay sane. Hell, taking the risk of going mad to save many is pretty heroic
Gherman, Maria and Logarius locked themselves up to either protect a dangerous secret or give guidance
Valtr is a cool guy too. He isn't completely sane but he fights for a good cause and is mostly a positive entity. He is also a hero to all Str/Arcane players that want an early Holy Moonlight Sword :))

Its not that alexander wants to be stronger, he wants to be a GREAT WARRIOR. Getting strong is just one of the paths of being a warrior. Thats why he wants to fight with you at the end of his quest.
@@wiselyx that doesn't define heroism tho, Killing Radahn is not heroic, everyone in the festival only cared about the glory and honor of fighting him, it's only Jerren who actually cared to end his general's pain and initiated the festival. + Alexander's main goal is selfish by wanting to prove his self-value and glory of a warrior, compared to the other characters whose main goal is selflessness and altruism, Alexander is indeed kind, honorable and a true warrior, but he is certainly doesn't define heroism compared to most characters of Elden Ring. If Alexander was truly heroic he would have used his strength not for glory but to protect his kin in Jar-Burg but no what he only wanted was to die like a warrior.
i agree with Siegward tho, cause what he truly wanted was to fulfill his promise to his bestfriend and to end Yhorm's painful legacy.

Artorias sacrificed himself to save his wolf after failing his mission. Gwyn sacrificed himself to save his entire race and history of the world from fading away. Moreover, Gwyn did that after giving part of his soul to humans who eventually betrayed him. Don't get me wrong, linking the fire definitely goes against the rules of dark souls universe but Gwyn isn't portrayed to be nearly as much evil as the community tends to believe and there are many false accusations about him going on. And yet Artorias, who was one of Gwyn's most loyal subordinates, is believed to be the biggest hero figure and genuinely good character. This is something I'll just never understand.
Gwyn was actually the top villain of the other video and I totally agree with it. Mass murder, genocide, enslavement, brainwashing, child abuse, abuse of power, cursing an entire race and then exploiting them, being evil is just a hobby for Gwyn.
Another weird thing is that people overlook Gwyn as a father figure. I mean, it is stated in game that he shared part of his power with his children and that Filianore was his beloved daughter and she hoped that he will return. People assume that Godfrey loved Morgott even though he also left him because of affection shown in cutscene. Nameless King also showed a respect as a final farewell, meaning while he did disagree with his father, he did not hate him.
I am not saying that he is good father, I am just saying he is better than many people think he is
@@laurencevicar5798 Gwyn forced Gwyndolin to live as a daughter because he was born to the moonlight rather than sunlight. Also pretty sure it was Gwyn who banished the nameless king for siding with the dragons. He abandoned Filianore at the end of the world to contain the pygmies, such that people didn't even seem to know she existed
@@Bob-jh6xt we still don't know much about Artorias as a person tho. He belonged to the god race and so was dependent on fire just like Gwyn himself and both had interest in subduing the dark. So saying that he secretly didn't approve of Gwyn's actions while working under his rule is kinda silly. Btw I'm not trying to make Artorias dirty or anything
Gwyn wasn't inherently evil but his actions are epitome are "some of the worst acts are done with the best of intentions". And that's the cardinal sin pride. That makes Gwyn a villain comprehensively. He didn't try to understand the wider picture and let the natural cycle continue. He had his run.
