If you feel like the series will end after Elden Ring DLC, try doing multiple New Game Plus runs. I recommend DS3 as a starting point. There’s something about killing the twin princes 3 times in a row knowing you’re going to go in for at least one more.
Ludwig is a masterpiece of a boss, but I prefer Gael and Isshin over him. One is the perfect metaphorical adversary of a three game narrative, putting a somber but hopeful close to the world of Dark Souls. The other is just the greatest mechanical fight I have ever played, and the satisfaction I felt when I beat him still hasn’t been matched. Both are also the ”last” fights of their games, and hence also deliver that finality that Ludwig lacks. Ludwig got that OST tho…
@@GenericNameeee Gael is the most overrated boss in all of Souls in my opinion. The culmination of a game full of weak stages and tedious dodge roll simulator combat. Didn't fancy his lore either. Friede was better. His ost was weak too. Isshin is a monster.
@@GenericNameeee after starting with Demon's Souls at launch back in 2009 and playing all of the Souls games at launch , DS3 was a complete disappointment. I enjoyed the Princes and that was about it.
Wanted to comment on two things: -First of all: good video, loved it. The final montage was spectacular. -When you started talking about "After the DLC get out, thats it" You brought me back. I started the first ds in 2012, and i loved it! From the mood, the ambiance and the story. When DS3 came out and the dlc too... I felt the same. There won't be another Dark Soul. I was really hyped but also bummed out. Something so good is coming to an end and that's it. But that's also the beauty of it. When it comes to an end, the circle closes, the story is told and the game wont be ruined by milking it for too much. Thanks for the video, bro
Ngl, I can solo, but if I can summon, or be summoned, I love co operating in souls games, boss runs, bosses, invasions, and pvp tournaments, the no talking, emote only, spaghetti online code is just peak
Comedy was on point, really felt the "loser" when dying to the husk of king Vendrick cuz it happened to me more than I'm willing to admit, the first time it happens I didn't knew how to lower his hp before the fight so I smacked that tree for almost 15 minutes just to have my ADP ahh get mushed in two swings and go like "nah not worth it"
@@WhoIsKaiYT Taking the chance that you replied, one thing I loved about your video was that I grew with Dark Souls 2, I didn't even have internet at the time, just a PS3 and that game my uncle thought was about cool knights and magic, he quit after he tried to beat the troll on the first area, I didn't. Put around 200 hours on the game farming the giant king for max level and trying every build the game offered against all bosses, everything without having an iota of an idea what "getting good" was, because it wasn't about the difficulty or Miyazaki's magic touch, it was about the souls series being amazing videogames regardless of context and their community. Thanks for sharing my love for something so much that you made this incredible video.
The only problem of your video is that you said no build is going to have an easier tile against Malenia but that's not true : Strength amin are going to deal "easely" with her (or big weapons users)
@@ekul2k3if you don’t care much for builds and wanna lean more to the skill side mattering most I recommend playing Sekiro, legit has to be one of my favourite games I’ve ever played, there’s still variety on your method of tackling a boss but fights are more about pressuring and parrying so you get to dictate how fast a boss fight goes depending on your skill level
5:05 SFIII is an example of another game that turns invincibility frames into a mechanic. If you input forward within 6-10 frames of an attack hitting (the longer you hold the input, the shorter the window is), you negate all damage and become invincible for the duration of the parry, and they can be done consecutively if the timing is correct. Hypothetically, just like Dark Souls, if you get good enough with the mechanic you can take no damage whatsoever. Also fantastic video, 10/10 will watch again.
@@Terminator-ht3sx sure, technically. And that's how most fights play out because parrying is an art that's very difficult to get down consistently but, like, if you had the option and you knew you'd succeed at either, you should always parry. Those frames are no joke. Letting your opponent run offense is a huge disadvantage for numerous reasons. If it won't be outright 50/50's, the decision fatigue will eventually wear you out and give them an opportunity to rip you a new one, plus the opportunity to likely continue running it in an even more advantageous situation. Momentum is king in fighting games, I feel
Because these bosses are treated as bosses they're scary, powerful, epic, challenging and on top of that these bosses leaves memories that last a lifetime and that's why we are blessed to have fromsoftware in our lives
9:43 I guess it depends on what you mean by "fumbles the dodge rolls" if you level ADP you'll have a great time if you don't you'll have a pretty hellish time. ADP also makes it so you heal faster and life gems can be used while moving estus can't, they're purchasable from a merchant, but I will say relying on a consumable (even infinitely purchasable ones) for better movement while healing still feels bad.
Some points. -the gameplay itself. Souls-like always feels nice even when they are “weak games”. - the story. DS3 is the one game where the story is perfectly understandable if you know who you are killing. Very few bosses like Rotten Greatwood can be considered “filler” on that one. While most other games have many filler bosses. Like Stray demon, half of DS2, Elden Copy-paste, etc. -lack of difficulty options. While people are basically making the same difficulty/quality Tier List. On retrospection outside internet-NPC’s you’ll hear stories of people who struggled on a particular boss. DS2 serpent lady with the floor full of poison. I also heard stories of people calling the dogs of Capra demon the true hardest boss of the series. -The dance. Again, DS3, Mostly Sekiro, and now Elden Ring are masters of this. The old games can be beaten with a greatsword and poise tanking without braincells. But I truly feel the games I mentioned are better balanced for using let’s say a straight sword and mix 1 of your hits during the middle of a boss combo. Sekiro in general. DS3 with many bosses like Lorain and Gael. With Gael you can get 1 hit after every cape combo dodge. Elden Ring and Mogh’s Nameless King timing (AKA super delayed). Anyways. This comment clearly proves I’ve played TOO MUCH. So to add a cool fact, Malenia obviously can be a cake walk with the right build. Such as “Let Me Solo Her”. The build is a mix of Freezing with a cold katana, using fire with Rivers of Blood to reset the Freeze, because Freezing gives a HP explosion every time it procs. There is also the Bleed which is insanely OP in Elden Ring. And finally River’s Fire damage (Fire damage in general) is Malenia’s weakness. Meaning that LMSH build is one of the best since he is hitting 3 very reliable weaknesses, taking advantage of 1 weakness already makes Malenia way easier. Which is to say, LMSH build is optimal for Malenia and I would rather rock that strategy compared to other popular ones like Rykard’s Blade. Also. If somehow someone reached this point in the comment. Demon of Hatred is secretly an amazing boss. You can play “unique” by always running to his back. Or you can grow a pair and stay in his face. You can parry his attacks like any other Sekiro boss. Parrying the 3 head-bangs does build a lot of posture. As well as the 2 leg stomp attacks. And if you master the fight, there is combo that goes like “1 hand swipe, 1 dodge to avoid the fire arm and then regular parry”. Once you manage to learn that parry+ dodge, you will master Sekiro and learn to mix parry+ dodge to be better against bosses!
the beauty of damp souls from a somewhat canonical standpoint is that it really IS hopeless, no one else could succeed through all those bosses, but YOU'RE different. you're the chosen one. so yes i guess theres hope, but not much, as it comes from within, for the crowd cheering you on is only populated by hollows and dregs who still want you dead. dark souls is the game of "what if EVERYBODY wanted to kill me? how much faith do i have in MYSELF?"

Small recommendation: the artist Cthulhuseeker has made several synthwave remixes of ER tracks that might be my preferred versions. :)
