Great watch Bob,the blank really lifted the basic slimline to another level👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😍😍😍
Thank you Alan.

Hey, that's my pen. It had my name on it 😃. After seeing this on WhatchaDoinBob I wanted the SpectraPly blanks.
Once again you did a great video, a real learning experience.
You know I want one of those dust hoods but decided not to. I spend too much time on my floor looking for those broken pieces, or as I call it my "Field of Dreams.". Dreaming of putting it back together so that nobody will notice.
LOL, with a 4” dust hose and a 3HP motor on my dust collector, I don’t find many of those chips any more.
Regards,
Bob
Great to see you back in the shop!!🙏👍💪👌💙
Thank you Ken.
Regards,
Bob
Really really lovely pen Bob and really like that you kept the pen slim.
I have seen so many "Slimlines" that are nearly the size of a Sierra and it doesn't look right in my mind.
Amazing finish you have on this one Bob.
Take care Bob.
Cheers, Huw
Thank you Huw,
I’m with you on slim Slimline pens. I’m not a fan of thick Slimline pens.
Regards,
Bob
Great job! Beautiful blank. I always learn something new while watching your videos.
Thank you Bob,
I love hearing that. After making so many videos/pens, I often wonder if there’s any valuable content left for me to share.
Regards,
Bob
Beautiful pen Bob. I am enjoying all the new content.
Thank you Bret,
I’m having fun again.

Bob
Work of art ! 🎨
Thank you Trevor. 😃

Thank you Carrie. 😃

Great looking pen and great demo 👍
Thank you William.

Great looking pen. I use Aussie oil instead of the wax and the results are amazing
I need to give that a try. A good friend sent me a bottle of Aussie Oil. 😃
Regards,
Bob
Great job on the blank, Bob. I love making chaos blanks. If you like slimline kits, try a trimline kit. Almost the same but a little fatter.
I’ve used Trimlines before. I really like them too.
Regards,
Bob
@@RJBWoodTurner I hadn't made any trimlines for a while. I just made 20 to send overseas for the pens for troops program.
@@mvecellio1 That is a great effort. Thank you for supporting it.
Regards,
Bob
Good to see the experts still turn slimline pens. Thanks as always!
I Love Slimlines.
I just wish they would improve on the transmissions. A nice trans would make the Slimline a perfect pen.
Regards,
Bob
Always informative and easy to understand! Do you have a video of making that blank?
Thank you Jodi,
Here are three videos where I made the Chaos blank.

Not a huge fan of thinlines, but the pen is very nice. Great save on using the pliers. Good Job
Thank you Paul,
I do like the SL. It’s a fun pen to mod.
Regards,
Bob
Awesome looking penblank Bob, you still got it up to the highest level of pen turning
Thank you. 😃
Regards,
Bob
Good to see you do a slim line again. I have only turned a few pens and they have all been slim lines. I have chosen to use your CA method for finishing mine. Thanks for a great looking pen.
Thank you Chris,
I do enjoy turning a Slimline pen.
Regards,
Bob
Nice chaos blank. Do you have a video of you making one of these? I have some cut offs I think this would work with.
Here are some videos.
I’m not making this exact style but it’s the same process.

I wish you were taking commissions. Have a few kits id love to have turned by ya. Always admired your attention to detail
Thank you,
I appreciate the thought. I just don’t have the time for commissions. There’s never enough time.
Regards,
Bob
@@RJBWoodTurner i completely understand, i wanted to start turning myself, but no time. Bought some very unique kits too
@@tugboat_actual there are plenty of amazing turners. I’d bet you could find somebody to convert those kits into pens.
Regards,
Bob
@@RJBWoodTurner oh there are plenty. But so far none that i have found with your attention to detail. The smallest little details to make things perfect is what set you apart in my book
@@tugboat_actual Thank you. 😃

Bob
Hi great to watch this. I’ve been following you a while and have a question. I’m in Calif and the state has banned the sale of Denatured Alcohol. So what can I use To clean for my wood turning projects. Keep up the good work.
That’s a tough one. I’m not familiar with California laws. Maybe compressed air to blow the dust out of the grain.
Regards,
Bob
@@RJBWoodTurner I am also in CA. I bought a gallon of DNA on a road trip to Nevada so I'm set. You can use Isopropyl alcohol instead and it works great. The reason to use DNA or Isopropyl alcohol is because it evaporates very quickly and doesn't leave any residue. I believe it was banned in CA because DNA is also a fuel. It was a state EPA decision.
@@stephenbreazeale8179 Thank you Stephen.

What size disk sander do you use? I’m going to buy a new one and one of those sanding jigs. I don’t want to buy to small of a sander.
I have an old 9” Craftsman. Not sure if they make it anymore.
Here are some links for reference:
9” Delta Disk Sander - amzn.to/2yINGiA (Craftsman was not available)
9” x 150 grit replacement sandpaper disks - amzn.to/2Y1U0fO

2” C-Clamp - amzn.to/3aBstoj

I notice you are using epoxy for the pen tubes now, instead of CA. Is there a reason?
Some of my older pens, the C/A let lose of the tubes and they came out.
Regards,
Bob
I don't understand why on your other pens you don't use a mandrel but this one you do.
This was a Slimline and I could not find my TBC Slimline bushings.
One way is not better that the other when it comes to turning in a mandrel vs TBC.
Regards,
Bob
Great job! Beautiful blank. I always learn something new while watching your videos.
Thank you again Bob.
