People think it has a cheap interior? I took this for a test earlier in the week and cheap-looking it is not. People are mistaking 'cheap' for 'tastefully understated'. This is an absolutely gorgeous car.
@@davideselvi3906 Don't bother, once they get over 70-80,000 miles the faults begin in earnest. The 2012 3.0 litre diesel I had, kept going into restricted performance because all the technology fitted to the car to cut emissions, egr valves, dpf filters ect. become clogged. Jaguar dealership failed to sort it because it is beyond their capabilities. There were over 200 fault codes coming up on the computer, all of which could cause RP. The only way to cure it was to have all the technology removed, this massively increases the performance and mpg but renders the car totally illegal on UK roads. I got rid of it after spending 2 grand on it to no avail. Worst car I have ever had, gone back to a 5 series, should never have left.
I have had two XF's, a Premium Lux and a Portfolio S, both incredible cars, so good I have since bought an XJ Portfolio, my 6th Jag. If you decide to go for an XF get the 3ltr diesel, loads of power and still good mpg.
Only problem I had was with the batteries on my first XF. There are two batteries, the smaller of the two is specific to the start/stop function. Looks great to me, I've been in the new XF and it's better than my previous BMW and my friends Audi A6... XF-S and R-Sport models look sharper than this entry level model though. Interior is best in cream, white or suede, all black is a bit dull. The 10" touchscreen is a step up from the standard 8" in this one, it's faster and integrates into dashboard better. F-Pace will probably be the pick of the new Jags when it comes out very soon!
Can't agree more , a better car than the A6 and 5 series. Not quite as comfortable as the e class in a straight line, however handles much better. One tip ...... If you can. Get the 10inch infotainment system.
Before people bash Jags quality, or making out it is not as good as the Germans, remember there is more to quality than how solid the door sounds or how well lined up the stitching on the dashboard is. Exposed metal underneath the rear parcel shelf in the boot is nothing new and pretty much all this cars rivals are the same. I have just read an article about an owner of a new £30k Audi TT in which the owner had to reject it because of how many times it went back to fix squeaks and rattles. In the states Volkswagens have such a poor reputation for reliability and quality, BMW have the highest engine failure rate according to JD Power and Mercedes are slap bang average. Jaguar and Land Rover actually outscored the Germans last year for reliability, and overall customer satisfaction, they always score right at the top. Also remember this is the very first production run of this model, these thing get sorted out.
Worth seeing the Lexus IS then. Outscored pretty much every other premium car. No exposed metal or misaligned stitching on those and they don't break down either
It's not the 1st production run if this car. The 1st generation was from 08 to 2011 the 2nd generation started in 2012, also the 2012 was the last generation to purchase a V8 or Supercharged V8. This car is if the 3rd generation.
People love to beat up on Jaguars. I'm in my 2nd. The 1st an 03 S Type with the 4.2 V8. Drove it 13 yy with , zero problems or issues. Drove 154k well loved miles. I only sold it to buy my 2013 XF Supercharged V8 Portfolio edition. Again in the 75k miles I have on it again trouble free no issues except I had to replace the battery at 6 years old. I love the car and unless Tata stops running them into the ground and destroying JLR my next car will be another Jaguar. If Tata hasn't gone out of business. If you want a good CF go for the 1st or 2nd generation. The quality is much better than the new
Jaguar-Land Rover designers and engineers have made huge leaps in revolutionising these brands over the last decade in keeping up with Royal bred cars from Britain (except that this is an animal)...and the deciding factor would be reliability and as for the shortfalls mentioned, nothing comes "perfect". Well done Jag!

I know people will label me a BM fanboy but rest assured, I hated the idea of owning one up until that point. If you have a passion for driving and feeling special, rather than boasting about rising gear selector knobs, then the XF really has missed the mark. If you're after a relaxed, nice-riding executive saloon and aren't all that fussed about the dynamics of the car, then the XF will float your boat... the ride is about all it's got going for it. And when you factor in PRICE, I'm sad to say, BMW dealers will cut you a far bigger deal and you'll get a LOT more car for your money than Jag will sell you.
Ok, I'm ruling that one out. My short list for my next car, admittedly not until next year, was:- Jaguar XF BMW 5 series (535d ?) Mercedes E class Tesla Lexus Top of the range Mondeo (yes, seriously ) Porsche Cayenne Volvo XC90 LR Discovery Strike the XF off that then.
Can't recommend it enough. The fact the entry level Prestige model has premium stuff like heated electric leather seats and a reversing camera is ridiculous. I could've bought a 2014 XF Portfolio with the same gear for more money - and it would've been a Mondeo underneath. ;)
Asher Baker sorry but that's not the case. X type was based on Mondeo. Original XF was based on old S type which was in turn a modified older platform borrowed from Lincoln. Current XF is all new platform as you say...
Jaguar isn't trumping any of its rivals in interior design. You're heaping praise on it simply because it's a British brand (now controlled by Indians)
IMHO, the previous gen looked better, and the build quality is horrible on this and on the XE. How could Jaguar get away with what appears to be a thin soft synthetic leather covering another thin layer of sponge on the dashboard? I wanted to love this car and would be able to live with that soft and bland looking rear quarter, but the cabin materials feel really nasty and cheap...
I've a 2016 xf portfolio. My father in law has An e class same year. The interior in the Jag is IMHO a nicer place to be. The Merc is slightly more comfortable in a straight line, but the jaguar handles much better.
@@me-us1lw Great choice! I sincerely hope to buy one sooner or later! At the moment I have a BMW 3 series G20 MY 19, but as soon as the leasing expires, I want to purchase the second generation XF from a private (so I can pay that in full) and keep it as soon as it lasts! Alternatively, I would go for the older XF! They're absolutely great cars!! Cheers from Italy
BMW 5 series has no trim on the upper boot neither does the E Class. If trim on a part of the car you will never see in important to you buy a Lexus GS they are fully trimmed and the best made interior of all cars in this sector.
The mpg results in their shows are all misleading I think. The manufacturers' claims are all based on controlled conditions like stop-and-go only up to 2500rpm or less, cruise at 2000rpm or less, using way less braking, etc. I tried driving under such conditions and am happy to report a massive difference of up to 3ltr/100km. Like Jeremy Clarkson proved (the M3 being more economical than the prius), it's more how we drive than the car itself that improves mpg.
I'm in Toronto Canada and will drive mostly city in our cold winters. There is a person ( via the mechanic) 2011 XE Portfolio v8. He is asking too much. That aside should I look at 2016 ( design change)? A v6 - I'm not sure if it is in the Canadian market. Suggestions.
The front is *nothing* like the old one, the new grill is fully flatfronted making the car timeless. Changes the whole look and a World better than the sloping old dinosuarish one.
Why Jaguar? After the XF being the car that relaunched as a real competitor to the Germans, followed by the amazing F-Type would you next release such boring copy and paste jobs that are the XE and XF. That interior makes me think Toyota Avensis. The exterior is indistinguishable from the XE and neither of them look anywhere near as nice as the last gen XF, F-Type, XK or XJ.
+Olof L You can choose your own interior, but it is not on this one. If you look on their website you'll see that you can customize it to your liking. They just chose a boring interior...
Ok, some could say that you said such good things about the car because you and the car are British, but I bet that people who say that didn't get the chance to know the car. I had the chance to check the previous version of the XF and I was absolutely astounded about the trim quality and all attention that Jaguar gave to details. I am a BMW lover, but if you tell me to choose between a BMW 5 series or a Jaguar XF, I probably would take a week or even more to take my decision, possibly it would happen after some km with both cars. But I saw one thing in this review that doesn't sounds right, the solid noise of door's cover... have Jaguar put plastic on door's cover, is that apparent?
I will be getting a car next spring when the house is paid off. I'm seriously considering a used (2014'ish) Jag XF, or the Audi A6. Both with the 3.0L and AWD. Decisions, decisions....
I have owned a 2013 2.2D XF Sportbrake for a couple of months now. 3 issues with it. The windscreen angle shows horrible reflections of the dashboard. The control for setting the cruise control is terrible - difficult to engage CC - refer to BMW for how to do it right. Fuel consumption - no way will you get anywhere near the quoted figures. I am averaging 33 mpg. Plus point - the looks - gorgeous and a lot sexier than the saloon.
You tell someone who knows nothing about cars that you drive a jag.and they're impressed. Say a German car and they think your a Pakistani taxi driver.
Flipping the seats is an extra in 2015? That's a good enough reason not to buy it. Just like BMW, Audi and Mercedes. They charge money for stuff you get as standard in a damn Fiesta. I have the money to buy a car this expensive, but there is NO reason AT ALL to waste my money. These companies don't deserve ANY of it.
+Sebastian Lim Depends when you're planning on buying. If now, then prob the Audi A6, if you're willing to wait a bit then either the E=class or 2016 GS which is getting a facelift.

Mat, Mat, Mat, listen Which would you recommend , XF, 5Series or wait for S90?
The end was great lol.
Such a beautiful car. Makes a 5 series look so cheap and naff
1:05 - On par with the germans, you say? I just watched the new E Classe interior video, so, not any more, it isn`t...
Cheers from Italy
so much clicking to do after every carbuyer video
Whoa, that naked metal and everything at 5:17 looks reeeeeeal bad and cheap. 0 effort was given.
+Uldis Stīpnieks I guess Tata got the idea of "Britannian minimalism" from British Leyland... :P
I think you can get that changed to piano black or some other veneer that you fancy.
BMW 5 series has no trim on the upper boot neither does the E Class. If trim on a part of the car you will never see in important to you buy a Lexus GS they are fully trimmed and the best made interior of all cars in this sector.
eastwood978 hahahahah thats BS considering my dad has a 2017 GS which has the metal exposed on top
Uldis Stīpnieks
The mpg results in their shows are all misleading I think. The manufacturers' claims are all based on controlled conditions like stop-and-go only up to 2500rpm or less, cruise at 2000rpm or less, using way less braking, etc. I tried driving under such conditions and am happy to report a massive difference of up to 3ltr/100km. Like Jeremy Clarkson proved (the M3 being more economical than the prius), it's more how we drive than the car itself that improves mpg.
Xf the best jaguar ever
I'm in Toronto Canada and will drive mostly city in our cold winters. There is a person ( via the mechanic) 2011 XE Portfolio v8. He is asking too much. That aside should I look at 2016 ( design change)? A v6 - I'm not sure if it is in the Canadian market. Suggestions.
I think that car sounds excellent for a diesel
New A4, case closed.
Buying this Jaguar xf next week. Cannae wait to collect the keys and pick up the car. 🏴👌😁
How is your experience till now
The front is *nothing* like the old one, the new grill is fully flatfronted making the car timeless. Changes the whole look and a World better than the sloping old dinosuarish one.
"Dinosaurish"? Dude, you're trippin' ... the older one (X250, LCI) is timelessly gorgeous.
the interior of the XE looks almost the same but for some reason it has a classier look (on video anyway)
+carbuyer the review of the BMW 5 series is outdated in order to properly compare...
Only rear parking sensors? (as standard)
Only 6 airbags?
But competition for Audi, BMW and Merc is never bad!
+Kitsune very weird, even the toyota camry/avensis has 10 airbags
I watched a carwow video before this
ngl the seats in the back look the same as a ford fiesta
What age is Mat?
Why Jaguar? After the XF being the car that relaunched as a real competitor to the Germans, followed by the amazing F-Type would you next release such boring copy and paste jobs that are the XE and XF. That interior makes me think Toyota Avensis. The exterior is indistinguishable from the XE and neither of them look anywhere near as nice as the last gen XF, F-Type, XK or XJ.
yea that interior looks cheap as. I much prefer the interior on my mk1 XF. However I think the sweet spot is going to be the mk2 XF.
aluminium body is great
my xf has the middle vents that also tilts when you turn on this ignition. This does not have it anymore..
Noisy? More noise than an eclass? Jaguar xf is famed for its refinement and cabin silence
They should have used some sort of tool to measure noise!!!! It would be cool!
The interior is grey, grey and more grey and the exterior looks so dated :o(
All those problems you mentioned are minor??? They are the difference between a well sorted and designed car and one that is not.
Best car on the road 😊
please review new lexus gs
Can you make a review of the lexus nx200t? :)
+Hariz Nurhakim He has. UA-cam it.
The old is better
interior looks cheap
Liked this comment before even watching LOL!
+Olof L Interior of my '88 Ford Sierra looks more expensive.
+Olof L You can choose your own interior, but it is not on this one. If you look on their website you'll see that you can customize it to your liking. They just chose a boring interior...
+Olof L well i can tell you in real life the interior looks far from cheap.
+Olof L Still better than rivals.
Folding rear seats as an extra? No thanks, I'll look elsewhere...
is this basically a Ford? Who makes the engines?
I would like to see the new Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV!
I will be getting a car next spring when the house is paid off. I'm seriously considering a used (2014'ish) Jag XF, or the Audi A6. Both with the 3.0L and AWD.
Decisions, decisions....
make a vw phaeton review pls
its funny how expensive this car is while i can get 2016 Mazda with sexy interior for half the prize . i bet cars this days is about the name .
+Techno Gameo the mazda 6 will be outdated and worth nothing in 3 years time, the jaguar is a more timeless car
Mazda lol what a battyboy
No matter how british u think jag is. Its not under tata!
How nasty are those pull catches at 5:17? They're like something a cheap lawnmower has. Not a £50k car.
Maybe it can be cross shopped against BMW, but it's not even close to E-Class or A6 refinement.
These companies don't deserve ANY of it.
this or 5 Series,GS,2016 E CLASS or Audi?
+Sebastian Lim the upcoming E class. so much more luxury.
+Sebastian Lim E Class is the best out of those.
+Sebastian Lim I would take the GS or maybe the E-Class. A6 and CTS are also a bit nicer.
+Sebastian Lim Depends when you're planning on buying. If now, then prob the Audi A6, if you're willing to wait a bit then either the E=class or 2016 GS which is getting a facelift.
I'd wait for the next E or the next 5, depending on whether you want full luxury or dynamic luxury.
