You could've just used red shards, they're better on every single weapon bar the incarnon Vasto prime for that split second it's base crit is higher than 50%
Wouldn't Topaz Shards's health stacking option be useful for the incoming Inaros rework? His abilities will scale with HP instead of standard strength no?
The problem with the coalescent shards is that in 9 out of 10 cases, their buffs aren't providing anything... new? They're mostly just wasted potential providing the same buffs as the other, less expensive shards, but in a more specific way as a price for a marginally higher payoff... for a system that's already kind of working in the margins of your build usually. And even the unique effects, such as bonus Corrosive procs and Blast-based shield regeneration, come with so many caveats that it becomes extremely questionable, and still requires a specific loadout. The whole Archon Shard mechanic being semi-permanent, requiring a resource that's a pain to farm if you change your mind, means the system having room for things this niche is just... inherently stupid? Because why would I slot in a shard that sometimes, using certain weapons, in certain missions, eventually, might be better at providing max health than just using an azure shard, when I can just use an azure shard? It feels like a waste and I hope they revisit them eventually... unless it was actually the design intent to make me not necessarily want to give up my rare weekly shards to make fusions, in which case, uh... good job, DE? I guess? You made me not want to engage with the coalescence system.
Honestly, the worst thing about Topaz shards is what you give up for them. You sacrifice a Crimson AND an Amber shard, both of which have really useful effects no matter your frame. Here's hoping DE at some point looks at the underused effects on some of these shards and touches them up a bit, and maybe gives reasoning for decisions like exalted weapons not working with the ability damage effect on the fused shards.
Yu think topaz shards would be better on ember than red shards?(im going for crit) i mean theoretically it should right because EVERY enemy that dies will have heat procs
Doesn't Octavia's 1 do blast damage? so, hypothetically she could use rolling guard and 1 topaz shard to keep your shields capped? Still not best in slot, but might be useful?
surprised you made no mention of tauforged bonuses. the health stacking one is notable because it actually increases your health by 2 per enemy killed, the only case in the game where the tauforged version actually doubles a stat. similarly, the crit chance one is a lot more viable at 75% than 50%. I prefer the tau crit shards on my mesa over the build showcased. also, still very sad they nerfed the shield one, it used to be so fun :(
It looks to me that the only Frames that could get any _real_ benefit from Topaz Shards are Ember and Qorvex. And even then, they probably have better Shards to use in the other colors.
I've got 3 tau topaz and 2 emerald on my mesa once my buffs are built up I can pretty reliably hit reds on regulators not that anything survives more than 2 hits anyway Also for the insane amount of prerequisites to get fused tau shards they really should return the original crit math on them
and curently bonus is not additive but multiplicative so it s not longer provide a red crit by 5 topax tauforges itself its just giving you 2 more primed pistol gambit for your loadout and thats it
Forcing me to use blast for health in a shard? I’d rather use the arcane that turns health orbs into health. That at least gives more health overall, doesn’t need specific setups just to make function, and doesn’t require resources to take off when I want to
I would use blast if the status proc spreads status and damage making single target weapons do radial damage. Instead reduces accuracy and does less damage to ferrite, great.
Not really, cavia already sells nothing useful if you have Qorvex and melee arcanes maxed. So at least now you have something to spend cavia standing on.
So DE screwed up and also augur set don't regenerate shields when you have immunity... This is awful... i had so many issues with my vauban because of this...
One build worth mentioning is something doable with high-armour frames, like Valkyr, for whom getting 2250 health would be quite the boon (assuming you're not just cheesing with infinite hysteria). Because of her ridiculously high armour value, a lot of EHP potential can end up being left on the table. Given Valkyr usage typically assumes common melee usage, using secondary or primary to build up health stacks is a viable option. Epitaph, a common primer, has inherent blast on its AoE, which does trigger the archon shard bonus.
So, questions for Titania pistols and kuva nukor how does each shard stack with creeping bullseye? They're at 30% for Titania and for the Nukor 21% cc respectable, is it possible to run crit builds on them with with three topaz shards assuming they were tauforged? Also how does it differ between arcane avenger?
i've liked topaz on mesa for the extra secondary crit, but it's nothing insane. i was briefly fiddling with an attempt at a Soma build that leveraged the shield recharge, because i have 30-ish fire rate, a lot of punch through, and hefty multishot, but even before the "you must have shields" restriction was added, it felt inconsistent. at the present moment, i'm liking the purple shards most, since they allow me to make my valkyr just that much more dangerous in melee, with or without talons. between the shards i have right now (2 tau, 3 normal purple, all set for melee crit damage) and tenacious bond, i get absurd crit multipliers. i take a melee weapon with a 1.5x crit multiplier and force it up to 7.2x without mods. beyond that, the excess purple shards that i will get from cycling valkyr to tauforged will allow me to make one of my other frames randomly much better as a weapons platform, with the extra i think it's 400% electric for normal shards if you have 5 of them? i don't remember for certain offhand. realistically, valkyr is the one i take for 99% of steel path missions unless i have very specific need of a different frames abilities (kuva/lua spy - ivara is the only one i can think of offhand). green is something i only added on saryn, and just added the flat damage bumps for spores, and topaz i think i've only put on mesa, and i am considering hildryn? though hildryn is a coin toss between attempting another shield shard build, or just adding blue shield shards and calling it good.
I use topaz shards on my Qorvex. He is built for max range with breach surge over his 3. It enables him to do pretty solid damage to the vast majority of enemies with abilities alone, allowing me to bring weapons specifically modded to combat the few mobs that I cant chain reaction nuke. However outside of this one use case, I agree, they are objectively less powerful than other options. I just main Qorvex, and as such have 0 problems making major investments in him even if I could have seen objectively more benefit using the resources in other ways.
Thanks for this video! I was going to slap 5 tauforged topaz shards on Gauss for the max health on blast but decided to not do that after watching this! (this is obviously joke, Gauss is perhaps not best health user in the game 😅)
I know that DE wants to make the other elements like radiation, magnetic and explosive viable as it is with corrosive and viral, but those 2 are so good on a lot of situations since corrupted had a lot of armored and shields, and viral is good against any unit except murmur probably Still, i don't know in which case i will need a topaz and violet shard, not even qorvex need the violet, why violet when you can put a red shard that gives strenght directly?
Violet actually has really solid effects outside of strength though?? The melee crit damage one becomes doubled if you have over 500 max energy, the 10% ability damage on enemies affected by electricity is multiplicative, and the primary electricity damage gives even more electricity damage for every purple red or blue shards on your build and can save you a whole mod slot particularly on shotguns for primed charged shell. Purple is quite conditional but the conditions are very easy to get past. Qorvex might not need a purple on paper, but gyre, wisp, khora, even saryn could benefit a lot from them.
Does the shield regen perk work on molecular prime explosions? If it does, it could provide some measure of survivability to speed novas, since she can get shield damage reduction through null star.
can you please do some calculations on parasitic vitality and mutation stacks? pls Im trying to make a build for my specter nidus so I can get tons of health on my inaros (the only reason I play warframe) and need to see how I can max out the health/strength of parasitic link

I made and put two tauforged topaz on mesa, specifically the critical chance and heat effects. I'm still feeling the consequences and it hasn't even been a week since I've done it.
I use 3 tau and 1 normal shard on my misa together with ceramic danger and secondary mystic that gives crit rate and crit damage in exchange of melee combo, to reach 201% crit rate
most of mesa builds are min/maxed with red shards with crit chance on secondaries wouldnt it be good to switch to the topaz ones since its literally double the effect after u get 50 kills basically since u have heat on the regulators usually?

You could've just used red shards, they're better on every single weapon bar the incarnon Vasto prime for that split second it's base crit is higher than 50%
@@vladu__e but red shards have lower numbers and are therefore less silly goofy. This isn’t a serious build 😂
We've gone from shard use enabling a niche build to a niche build enabling shard use.
At least Blast Status is better now than it was when this video was made.
Wouldn't Topaz Shards's health stacking option be useful for the incoming Inaros rework? His abilities will scale with HP instead of standard strength no?
Also hyldren should be able to use it if you want to use the 4 to have possible permanent uptime on the ability with the shield bonus
Its actually kind of amazing how badly they fucked up topaz.
And to think that this shard, on release, was probably the most broken one out of the rest, mainly because of bugs tho
I've got 3 tau topaz and 2 emerald on my mesa once my buffs are built up I can pretty reliably hit reds on regulators not that anything survives more than 2 hits anyway
Also for the insane amount of prerequisites to get fused tau shards they really should return the original crit math on them
Would the Blast damage work off of Nova's Molecular Prime for the first two shard abilities?
and curently bonus is not additive but multiplicative so it s not longer provide a red crit by 5 topax tauforges itself its just giving you 2 more primed pistol gambit for your loadout and thats it
Forcing me to use blast for health in a shard? I’d rather use the arcane that turns health orbs into health. That at least gives more health overall, doesn’t need specific setups just to make function, and doesn’t require resources to take off when I want to
So it's not possible to reach 300% crit chance with topaz shards alone on mesa?
The opportunity cost for making these shards is far too high to justify ever making them.
With the status reworks how does this hold up now
9:30 its worth on Smite cause its %health damage - Ive even done lvlcap with that setup
i ve tested this type of blast toxin build in mesa and its its sucks compare to a normal redcrit build
I would use blast if the status proc spreads status and damage making single target weapons do radial damage. Instead reduces accuracy and does less damage to ferrite, great.
They need to remove the bile cost imo. It serves no purpose besides being a barrier.
3 things
Hildrin
Gauss mint
Topaz v2
if theyre gonna substantially nerf a shard they should refund them lol
Worst of all, they're a waste of perfectly good red and yellow shards.
Anyone else kinda miffed that archon shards are now gonna cost standing from the Cavia over Stock from Kahl's shop?
No, cavia standing is way more fun and convenient than kahl missions. It does however suck that kahl lost his one use unless you want styanax
Not really, cavia already sells nothing useful if you have Qorvex and melee arcanes maxed. So at least now you have something to spend cavia standing on.
Every one of these fused shards should have been an Arcane...
So DE screwed up and also augur set don't regenerate shields when you have immunity...
This is awful... i had so many issues with my vauban because of this...
Blast is better now, so the Mesa blast build seems better.
Sadly i already made 5 topaz for Mesa crit chance
i run 3 red shards and 2 orange shards all secondary crit and i enjoy a hybrid catabolyst with orange crit beam and red crit grenade.
Could be decent on Inaros after his rework
Inaros always need more health, only health
I know that DE wants to make the other elements like radiation, magnetic and explosive viable as it is with corrosive and viral, but those 2 are so good on a lot of situations since corrupted had a lot of armored and shields, and viral is good against any unit except murmur probably
Still, i don't know in which case i will need a topaz and violet shard, not even qorvex need the violet, why violet when you can put a red shard that gives strenght directly?
VENANT PRIME
can you please do some calculations on parasitic vitality and mutation stacks? pls Im trying to make a build for my specter nidus so I can get tons of health on my inaros (the only reason I play warframe) and need to see how I can max out the health/strength of parasitic link
Crit is very good on mesa, and can allow pure oranges and up to 55% ish chance at reds - assuming prime pistol gambit and a 9x secondary outburst
Idk where its sits exactly percentage wise, but my crits are pretty much always orange on mesa with 5 tau shards(post proc) and no secondary outburst
Love the topaz shards, with 5 tau shards i can grant around 2,200 ish hp to a frame and since ive been a zarr main since the war within (?) Its a boom for survival runs
Blast damage balefire? Yes.
Blast restore shield, yes?
Aegis storm infinitum? Possibility???
No.. balefire doesnt status..
You mean secondary outburst?Still, that’s crazy.
@@lastoflancas yes , I just forgot it's name
most of mesa builds are min/maxed with red shards with crit chance on secondaries wouldnt it be good to switch to the topaz ones since its literally double the effect after u get 50 kills basically since u have heat on the regulators usually?
yes
Topaz shard surge oberon is whacky, i just wish the rad dmg was 20% instead of 10 per shard, maybe 25.
How are you feeling about the new Lavos Augment, Kengineer? Do you think it'll be worth running on Lavos? 👀
Why do you put a pic of mesa about to shoot banshee in all your video intros?
It's an old thumbnail (all of them are). I've never got around to updating it
Topaz hp buff needs a ui element, hard to tell if youre triggering it or when youre done stacking up
