Was hoping deth machine’s rifle (prime at least) would be the goto for general gun play with good crit, status, or both…they didn’t even fully touch any of the other companion mods and they are still relatively pointless, was hoping for a helminth buff, mainly the strain mods getting buffed more than it technically did
Tbf, it's now just more like Verglas being 95% good and Verglas Prime being 98% with Artax at 100%, with the worst weapons at maybe 60%. Before, I remember when you used Deconstructor Prime, at 100%, or you just used your Smeeta because companions were useless
If you told me this was part 2/3 of the companion rework and next round was for sentinels I'd fully believe it. Beasts are eating good right now. Deal insane damage and can even room clear by themselves with contagious bond while still being built for maximum utility or durability. Meanwhile sentinel weapons might as well not have changed at all. Using them honestly feels bad cause I'm losing so much by not bringing a beast companion.
I agree, the answer to the question Ken posed at the very beginning is, NO. It wasn't enough DE, unless you nurfed the verglas with the same update... Since that didn't happen you still have 1 sentinal weapon above the rest. Period. And then a few other with status priming capability and some minor cc with no damage...
Put simply. Verglas if you wanna kill stuff. Tazicor, Artax and possibly Helstrum for priming. Kinda disappointed most of the Sentinel weapons are still MR fodder.
@Pancake699 mods like condition overload and galvanized aptitude/savvy offer the effect "gain 80% additional damage per status effect impacting the target". "Priming" is simply the process of applying a bunch of different status effects to an enemy, or "priming" them with status effects. So with a weapon like the kuva nukor (or anything that can apply a lot of different status effects to a target) you can get a bigger damage buff than direct damage mods like serration or pressure point.
@@Pancake699the galvanized mods don’t actually work as intended, and DE has basically given up on trying to unravel the spaghetti to fix those. Regular Condition overload does work though.
Well, Helios Prime with Deconstructor Prime is actually really good for armor striping with duplex bond, vicious bond, attack speed and shattering impact, also, has more damage output than it let it know. They main issue with that is to keep Helios alive enough to do his stuff, but outside of that, he is not bad
It's not hard to make them recover fast enough that they have >90% uptime: Hard reset + primed regen leaves exactly 10 seconds of downtime and there is always something on the field you can hit with a mercy kill. Depending on the loadout/mission the various bond mods that speed up recovery can do it instantly sometimes.
@@nicolaslevesque6981 I leveled up my deconstructor prime and was shocked to realize that it was kill stealing... so I threw a potato on it and now it kill steals from me in steel path. If it didn't die at mere moments left unattended....
they really should just add augment mods for these weapons, it will fix the problem of the weapons being too op early game and it will make it so that verglas prime isnt just objectively the best option all the damn time.
One thing to note: Burst Laser Prime is the best Arc Coil stick (as well as for any other damaging precept if more useful ones come out in the future), as it can both reach the Tenacious Bond threshold fairly trivially and equip Augur mods in its remaining slots to help your warframe shield gate, while having full IPS for CO priming.
Not just Arc Coil, Coolant Leak can also apply elements inherited from Manifold Bond. It's not has generally effective as Coil but it's universal, so I'll take it
Reminds me of Titania. Don't know if it's changed now, but the arch-melee teleport made her hone in on the crotch. I'd even aim at the head, and she still magnetized at the codpiece.
I know its still not the best but Deconstructor I feel was done a little dirty here, it being the only melee sentinel weapon means you can give Helios vicious bond. Give Deconstructor itself Fury, Melee Prowess, Power Throw, Whirlwind, and your choice of 60/60 elemental/thrown melee mods (I personally run radiation/cold and rebound) and you have a pretty solid little guy providing some decent combat support as it fills your codex for you.
deconstructor got did dirty when they made gladiator mod passives on it not transfer to frames, it was one of the strongest during the melee meta still it can be a good primer and armor shredder
One more important thing to note is that the Brust Laser and its prime variant come with innate IPS, making it the best in slot for status application on Diriga with Arc Coil and Manifold Bond. using the proper setup, you'll be getting impact, slash, puncture, viral, heat, and radiation on all affected targets for an effective +580% damage (viral adding a total of 180% due to its effect on health).
Also, you can use Coolant Leak on any sentinel to also apply status AoE. I like to use my Nautilus as a very effective grouping tool with Coolant Leak and Manifold Bond, and the cooldown of both Cordon and Coolant Leak are reset via Manifold Bond, very good synergy.
Unfortunately still very niche. You pretty much never actually need that many from it, and the utility you miss out on from using better weapons far, far, FAR outweighs what is, in the end, a relatively minor difference in overall damage.
The Laser Rifle variants all have a full IPS spread as well and is just generally better. The only use for the Burst Laser variants is if you want set mod bonuses that equip to secondaries, like the Augur, Saxum, Jugulus, and Carnis bonuses.
Something to keep in mind with the Helstrum is it is really good for combining with Citrine. Combine that with duplex bond, and you can have a little army of helstrum companions that will spread statuses with citrine's crystal like crazy.
Honestly, to me, the greatest value of Sentinel weapons, is that they serve as a laser pointer to tell me where the nearest Soon-to-be corpse is... I just like having a Bright Line tell me EXACTLY where to point my own damage stick, that way I don't forget any behind just because there's another tempting target far away but in my line of sight. It's actually useful When you're not sporting a Frame that just Clears the whole map with a button press.
You've done the Deconstructor Prime DIRTY in this video. Well before this update, I was having to unequip it when trying to complete Nightwave tasks to land kills with specific elements because my Helios was extremely good at kill stealing. It didn't matter what content I was going to. It even managed to steal a noticeable amount of kills in Steel Path, and without a riven either. If you think it isn't a great weapon, you probably haven't given it a good try. There's one important thing to keep in mind when modding it: It's a glaive. Primed Pressure Point, Rebound, Whirlwind, Healing Return, and more are compatible with it.
@@daktuno I never did acquire the Verglas, so I haven't had a chance to compare them directly. But the Deconstructor Prime is effectively an AoE weapon thanks to all the bouncing, and you can get the status chance to be nearly 100%. So it can deal good damage, strip armor, inflict Corrosive stacks, and CC multiple targets at a time and heal itself all in one build thanks to being a glaive. Thanks to qualifying for glaive and melee mods. It doesn't really matter if the Verglas kills individual targets faster when the Deconstructor "has it all". The Verglas is only going to beat it against single targets. The main issue is that Kengineer lumped the Deconstructor in with the trash and claimed it didn't have any worthwhile use. That is an absurd claim to make.

Deconstructor does have some niche, as it is silent due to being classed as a melee, despite the weapon stats disagreeing, and it is also the only sentinel weapon that an equip Shattering Impact to remove armor. But, a corrosive/heat set up is better for armor stop since the armor scaling changes

I guess this is an end-game problem. I know on the star chart, my Helios Prime with the Deconstructor Prime can kill most enemies without my help, and pretty quick.
Deconstructor Prime honestly has good utility in my experience, as it’s able to armor strip at a relatively cheap cost. Shattering Impact and Viscous Bond combined tend to full strip armor in a burst or two, and I’ve heard mention of a method to keep Deconstructor continually firing rather than it having to “reload” after a burst.
Hope you're seeing all these comments talking about how the deconstructor prime is capable of codex scanning and full armor stripping groups of enemies and working on an addendum. Since new players would probably benefit from stuff like that the most.
I was using artax for the entire time; even unmodded (or with vigilante mods to crank the crit) since its release, always has been the best sentinel gun. Can’t wait for taxon prime and artax prime
Huh. I had not caught on that part of Artax's damage was 'immutable'. That's very neat TBH. I thought it was simply Baby's First Verglas, really. The unchanging cold damage makes it significantly more valuable. Might change over to that, with a Fired Up setup. As for the rest of the video, I've personally found Tazicor a more reliable status spreader than the Helstrum in practice, simply because it doesn't have any projectile travel time, and is not stopped by corners or scenery. The damage is very bad though, most definitely.
Just a note on the Helstrum and Tazicor, you can use primed firestorm for bettter AOE status spread. The chain range increases to 5.75m on the Tazicor with the mod, and punch through will allow the effect to propagate multiple times
Chaining beam is very quirky. The main beam is affected by Beam Length modifier for its maximum length. The additional beams created on impact of main beam have set "search radius" and will seek the closest enemy. This "search radius" is affected by AoE modifier and the additional beam does not benefit from punch through. This doesn't apply to just Tazicor. It applies to ALL chaining beam weapons. Amprex, Kuva Nukor, Torid, Atomos, you name it
@@FelisImpurrator think of it less of a spaghetti code and more of a workaround. Also additional notes: Ricocheting bullets work the same way. Toxocyst, Lato, Sicarus, Bronco uses the same workaround for their ricochet mechanics. Main projectile creates an additional seeking projectile on impact
@ariaangela3455 tbf, there is at least a little bit of pasta in there, considering they, uh, don't consistently have this working on actual AOE weapons. Like Grimoire (which has no interaction lmao) and I think Shedu just kind of not working. It is really funny that the code for ricochet targeting uses AOE radius though. Now... Does zoom still affect sentinel firing range?
Something to note about Artax: It seems to alter the sentinel's targeting priority so that it will avoid attacking any enemy that has a full 10 cold procs unless there are no other available targets. Meaning that if you spec it into fire rate, status chance, multishot and Shivering Contagion _without_ altering its cold damage, your sentinel will freeze a whole cluster of enemies in under a second, then immediately switch its focus to repeat the process with another group. It's a pretty good option if you want to passively CC enemies around you for free.
The Verglas can still be easily moded for a triple element gun thanks to the mod "Accelerated Isotope", since it ads radtiation damage separately that does not mix with other elements by itself, adding it to the viral heat setup already mentioned and allowing the nice status spread from the bond mod.
Prime laser rifle is amazing for QoL/as a statstick, you can reach 50% crit with it for tenacious bond, put shivering contagion on it, prime 6 elements for CO (IPS, rad, viral, electric), and put vigilante mods on it for more stacks of the set bonus
I would like to make an argument for the Burst Laser Prime. There is a specific/niche setup where it is very useful: priming for melee builds. If you use diriga with arc coil and manifold bond, you force proc all statuses from the sentiel weapon within melee range. The burst laser has IPS built in, meaning that it forces the highest number of statuses compared to most companion weapons. On top of this, the burst laser prime can reach the 50% crit threshold without a riven. With this setup, you get a ton of statuses guaranteed instantly for condition overload, and that crit damage multiplier.
I was gonna say the same for laser rifle I use it with the same diriga setup and having 6 unique status without having to use my epitaph is nice for a CO melee build
I'm proud to see that a verglas riven is so sought after. I got it on my 1st try!!! (edit) it currently has +58.6% mag size, +197% CC, +116.5% toxin, and X0.6 damage to grineer
When I was new, Mr 17 now.. Verglas and Torid were my very first rolls when I started.. my buddy told me to keep them when he saw them. I would have sold them for low plat if I didn’t know how sought out they were.
Ive always used sentinels as extra utility rather than for damage. I modded my death cube with a sweeper that does little damage but as much fire rate, punch through, bullet speed, and increased spread as possible just so it tags as much enemies as possible per shot for energy generator to reset every 5 to 10 seconds.
Ever since I got Nautilus Prime that has replaced Panzer as my default companion. I currently run Verglas Prime with a cold + gas build. The idea behind it is that Nautilus will group the enemies and spread cold with Shivering Contagion while they sit in a gas cloud. Also, those are 2 elements I don't have on most of my weapons so it helps boost GunCO.
On the Helstrum, I would personally recommend equipping it on the Dethcube while running Arcane Energize / Equilibrium builds, as that plays into the “Get Assists for Health/Energy Orbs” playstyle that select mods support.
Tazicor is a better helstrum since it chains now and is a beam. Helstrum can be a pain at priming enemies if you kill them too fast. The projectile speed of the weapon is slow.
My condolences about the stat mismatches between patchnotes and game. Absolute headache to investigate that one RIP Sentinel weapons. They tried so hard and yet. I understand that not every normal weapon can make it into late game either, but it still sucks that half of the sentinel ones are just completely useless outside of niche cases Thank you as always for the informative video :)
I have to disagree with your opinion on the stinger. I’ve found exceptional use with a combination of manifold bond and the status spreading bond to consistently spread toxic, viral, and heat. It has the unique property of being a DOT weapon, where it embeds itself over 3 seconds and does a bit of damage every second (from what I can tell) with each instance of damage not only seemingly having a 100% chance of toxic, but the ability to apply other status effects as well, if not on the initial hit of the projectile. It’s status chance usually cannot get too far above 70%, but with its decent fire rate and that it’s burst fire, it can still apply plenty of damage. Combine it with fired up, and because it’s a DOT weapon that applies DOT status, fired up is nearly almost at 100% the second it hits. Meaning you will regularly have toxic, viral, and heat damage on an enemy. This can melt a foe pretty fast, and combined with the Fatal Attraction precept mod and manifold bond, you can easily get a proc of viral, toxic, and heat off on multiple enemies when they’re lured in. TL;DR, the stinger has a lot of potential when given investment, being able to reliably damage enemies and apply heat, viral, and toxic at an effective rate.
I never realised before I built Nautilus Prime this week how insane the Verglas was. I haven't potatoed either the weapon or the Sentinel and they're already among my most impactful companions setups.
I didn't realize just how stark the buffs were, but I don't even let my sentinel shoot most of the time and just fill it up with utility mods. slap the vulklok on my sentinel specifically to get over 50% crit chance to give myself the 1.2x crit damage multiplier from the tenacious bond mod.
The deconstructor has a very niche use where you can slap life strike on it so it can be a form of passive healing in eda when the modifiers dont let you pick up health orbs or something
Great video Ken. To add to the video there is another layer of utility I think you missed. AoE sentinel weapons can be very good as an option for energy economy for certain Warframes. Much easier to get than an R5 Arcane energize.
So funny story, I was really excited when I heard the sentinel weapons were getting buffed, because I was tired of running Helstrum, Vulklok, and Verglas. Plus, my boyfriend gave me veiled companion riven for my birthday, so sky's the limit in possibilities for buildcrafting! ...Fast forward to now and instead of running Helstrum, Vulklok, and Verglas, I run Verglas Prime with a CC Riven. Some much for buildcrafting but at least I can turn my lil robot friends into pocket-sized WMD's :P
There is one argument to be made for the Vulklok: It's the easiest sentinel weapon you can get that reaches over 50% crit to trigger Tenacious Bond. Vulcax is the only other option to do this and it's locked behind rank 5 in Fortuna, which takes a much longer time to get.
@@glimmereyes9089 Oh you're right, I only saw the Burst Laser hitting 15% and somehow didn't see the Laser Rifle hitting 17%. I didn't look at the primes since, well, they're primes and the whole point was to give an easily accessible option.
I actually will defend deconstructor as a way for you to be able to proc Vicious Bond and Seismic Bond while having a sentinel instead of a hound or beast companion to be able to use the mods
The most annoying bug I found was Multron inflicting self stagger. That one needs fixed, and Helstrum needs the patch note fire rate. DMR needs a buff to be either a crit weapon or a status weapon, Cryotra should have more fire rate, Stinger... kind of needs another rework (or Stinger Prime)... And we really need the accuracy on the gun type ones to be fixed. Although there is a fun interaction with Vulklok and Burst Laser, if you pair it with a magnetize effect.
While being early does apply to the base version it doesn’t for the prime yet they are often barely any better. It should be like the prime version of Warframe weapons where when it is the prime of an early game weapon it is vastly better showing how the prime is gotten far later in the game.
The Vulcax I've found kind of slaps if you have armor strip of any sort. And by kind of slaps I mean it was erasing level 225 steel corrupted gunners when their armor was off, one or two shots tops. That's before the riven I threw on.
I use the deconstructor glave with coolant leak for status and triggering archon stretch . The weapon itself may not do anything but I have the right mods for it and I don’t plan on investing into sentinel weapons any time soon.
panzer vulpaphyla. easily reaches reinforced bond and tenacious bond. ips status + electricity procing archon stretch + viral spore spreading + magnetic + vicious bond armor stripping. was tempted to buy a verglas riven until i began catmaxxing
I have been using hilios prime's deconstructer weapon forever and know it's mechanics pretty well it's damage is good but it act's like a thrown melee which means it will fire as long as it has a blade so if you put a lot of bounce it will fire slower. So the way to increase fire rate is to put less bounce on it and projectile speed. There your helios will act as a turret that will seek and destroy. Especially if put duplex bond on it as since the weapon it has is considered a melee it will pursue and destroy. Though i must warn it has a nasty habit of spawn camping and not allowing enemies to group up
My favorite sentinel weapon for the longest time has always been the Helstrum and I'm glad it's still good. Definitely wish some of the rifles/lasers were more accurate though if they're going to leave the Artax and Verglas pinpoint. Deconstructor is still really good too even if it is Helios specific.
"Deconstructor is not worth using" my butt, my silly floating camera deletes armor from everything in the room without having to rely on corrosive procs and still gets kills all on its own.
I will not stand for Multron slander. It may be just a worse Helstrum when it comes to status spreading, but it has no problem reaching the 50% crit chance breakpoint with a Riven, making it the best budget substitute for Verglas Prime when it comes to status + Tenacious Bond builds.
Helios and Deconstructor can take all 4 bond mods, and be built for magnetic. So thats armor stripping, shield stripping, scanning, and vulnerability detect on one thing, thats one smart gadget.
Tazicor 2x 60/60 mods for Corrosive, Radiation Mad, Primed Cry Rounds Galvanized Chamber, Shivering Contagion, vigilante armaments + fervor Great fun to abuse for insta freezing clusteres of enemies and spreading corrive around :D
Trying to get the verglas riven is well worth the effort, there are less than 20 companion weapon in the game which make getting a verglas riven much more reasonable than getting something like specific rifle riven, also companion weapon riven are sold at simaris, the only difference being the mr decide how fast you can get one, but i think the 1.3 dispo on both verglas and prime version makes it a reasonable target
@@xrufus7x468 you can cap your standing within 10min for simaris while also farming things like daily focus, just treat it as a sortie since after getting the mods simaris' standing are basically just for exilus warframe adapter and companion riven, I'm not saying everyone need to chase for this, it's near the range of things like hammer shot or max level secondary encumber, annoying and painful, but within a reasonable range
@@chunkitliem3635 I know how to do it. My point is that you are looking a between three days and a week for a 1 in 16 roll. It is going to take most people months. There is a reason they are so expensive.
I think it took 3 companion mods from Sumiris on any relay to get a Verigras Riven. And it will kill a room of 20 level 225 SP heavy gunners if you are patient enough. But here is the problem my Pharaoh Predisite can kill demolysts spit out viral procs gather up enemies slash them to death gives and gives me extra loot. So for now the Sentinals are for specific missions only Nautilus for high level RJ and Shade for Mag.
Just want to add for some reason if i put toxic on Cryotra it add 2 time on way that make it have force cold status impact viral AND toxic damage and all can put status
I'm very much a fan of the classical single target weapons in Warframe, so it's a little sad to find out that the Sentinel weapons I loved as a new player like Deth Machine Rifle, Sweeper, and Laser Rifle, are still pretty useless. Sure they were alright at very low levels, but obviously that falls off pretty fast. Which got me thinking: Maybe they could do something like what they did with the other companions Link Mods, but for Sentinel weapons? Like a mod that lets you copy X% of your Primary or Secondary weapon's crit or status chance, or damage values, so that they don't make the Sentinel weapons strong unless you yourself have strong weapons to pair them with? I'm bad with stats, so idk if that would be useful, or broken, or useless, I dunno lol
Best use of the Tazicor now, is using Coolant Leak as ur attack mod. Turns the weapon in to an AOE around you. anything that comes into range instantly gets full spectrum of status's u equipped.
Personnaly I almost never use the Verglas, I don't really want my sentinel to kill stuff, I just want it to spread tons of status and get assists to proc synth deconstruct, that why I mostly use Tazicor and Helstrum
found it a little odd that your spiel about buying base Verglas/Nautilus for plat didnt also mention Nautilus Prime/Verglas prime currently farmable from relics (and probably comparably cheap for a set via trade)
theres also cryota its torid yeah it makes cold aoes that linger also has the % cold that does not combine so with 1 toxin mod u get cold viral and toxin toxin pretty low

Throwing Cryotra under the bus makes me sad, but I guess I should try out the Helstrum and see how they compare on the Nautilus. I’ve been using Cryotra with a Cordon spam setup as crowd control support for shield gate frames, so if Helstrum gets me more output those frames will be happy campers.
The deconstructor can be used to get the gladiator set bonus, but that's simply not a useful enough feature to use Helios with an otherwise useless weapon.
Too bad sentinels don't have the most important buff to me personally, which is Resourceful Retriever. Getting occasional double Steel Essence is just so freaking nice.
This video is very informative, but it’s not very user-friendly. If somebody wanted to have a quick reference to your builds for each gun, they would have to remember what build the gun was for since you don’t label them for snapshots. I find that a lot of UA-camrs do that… yes I understand. I could pause it and write it down, but the inconvenience causes me to go elsewhere in the future. Other than that I think the video is great.
Dang, that last section is so not what I wanted to hear.... having just unlocked a multron riven and realizing I can get past the 50% break point now... also isn't there some niche uses to the deconstructor because it has access to melee mods? Stripping armor is think. I guess maybe not anymore with vicious bond hu?
you should npot put heat on on your sentinel unless you aren't plannign on using heat on your main weapon, because the heat proc will inherent it's lower damage onto all future procs
Tazicor is a Waaay better cold proc applicator than the rest. Mod it for corrosive cold with some reload speel and multishot and enemies can't even reach you

Well, Helios Prime with Deconstructor Prime is actually really good for armor striping with duplex bond, vicious bond, attack speed and shattering impact, also, has more damage output than it let it know.
They main issue with that is to keep Helios alive enough to do his stuff, but outside of that, he is not bad

Agreed my Helios prime with deconstructor is great at priming enemies and can even get some kills by itself in steel path.
It's not hard to make them recover fast enough that they have >90% uptime:
Hard reset + primed regen leaves exactly 10 seconds of downtime and there is always something on the field you can hit with a mercy kill.
Depending on the loadout/mission the various bond mods that speed up recovery can do it instantly sometimes.

they really should just add augment mods for these weapons, it will fix the problem of the weapons being too op early game and it will make it so that verglas prime isnt just objectively the best option all the damn time.

One thing to note: Burst Laser Prime is the best Arc Coil stick (as well as for any other damaging precept if more useful ones come out in the future), as it can both reach the Tenacious Bond threshold fairly trivially and equip Augur mods in its remaining slots to help your warframe shield gate, while having full IPS for CO priming.
Not just Arc Coil, Coolant Leak can also apply elements inherited from Manifold Bond. It's not has generally effective as Coil but it's universal, so I'll take it

I know its still not the best but Deconstructor I feel was done a little dirty here, it being the only melee sentinel weapon means you can give Helios vicious bond. Give Deconstructor itself Fury, Melee Prowess, Power Throw, Whirlwind, and your choice of 60/60 elemental/thrown melee mods (I personally run radiation/cold and rebound) and you have a pretty solid little guy providing some decent combat support as it fills your codex for you.
You should try throwing in Shattering Impact and Vicious Bond, they kinda go really hard together.
deconstructor got did dirty when they made gladiator mod passives on it not transfer to frames, it was one of the strongest during the melee meta

@@Voldrim359 Shattering Impact isn't very good on Deconstructor. Due to its IPS cycling, it only procs every third shot.
One more important thing to note is that the Brust Laser and its prime variant come with innate IPS, making it the best in slot for status application on Diriga with Arc Coil and Manifold Bond. using the proper setup, you'll be getting impact, slash, puncture, viral, heat, and radiation on all affected targets for an effective +580% damage (viral adding a total of 180% due to its effect on health).
Also, you can use Coolant Leak on any sentinel to also apply status AoE. I like to use my Nautilus as a very effective grouping tool with Coolant Leak and Manifold Bond, and the cooldown of both Cordon and Coolant Leak are reset via Manifold Bond, very good synergy.
Unfortunately still very niche. You pretty much never actually need that many from it, and the utility you miss out on from using better weapons far, far, FAR outweighs what is, in the end, a relatively minor difference in overall damage.
I use prisma burst laser just for that reason
The Laser Rifle variants all have a full IPS spread as well and is just generally better.
The only use for the Burst Laser variants is if you want set mod bonuses that equip to secondaries, like the Augur, Saxum, Jugulus, and Carnis bonuses.
Something to keep in mind with the Helstrum is it is really good for combining with Citrine. Combine that with duplex bond, and you can have a little army of helstrum companions that will spread statuses with citrine's crystal like crazy.
Honestly, to me, the greatest value of Sentinel weapons, is that they serve as a laser pointer to tell me where the nearest Soon-to-be corpse is... I just like having a Bright Line tell me EXACTLY where to point my own damage stick, that way I don't forget any behind just because there's another tempting target far away but in my line of sight. It's actually useful When you're not sporting a Frame that just Clears the whole map with a button press.

You've done the Deconstructor Prime DIRTY in this video. Well before this update, I was having to unequip it when trying to complete Nightwave tasks to land kills with specific elements because my Helios was extremely good at kill stealing. It didn't matter what content I was going to. It even managed to steal a noticeable amount of kills in Steel Path, and without a riven either. If you think it isn't a great weapon, you probably haven't given it a good try.
There's one important thing to keep in mind when modding it: It's a glaive. Primed Pressure Point, Rebound, Whirlwind, Healing Return, and more are compatible with it.
how does this compete against the verglas if we're talking about killing potential?
@@daktuno I never did acquire the Verglas, so I haven't had a chance to compare them directly. But the Deconstructor Prime is effectively an AoE weapon thanks to all the bouncing, and you can get the status chance to be nearly 100%. So it can deal good damage, strip armor, inflict Corrosive stacks, and CC multiple targets at a time and heal itself all in one build thanks to being a glaive. Thanks to qualifying for glaive and melee mods. It doesn't really matter if the Verglas kills individual targets faster when the Deconstructor "has it all". The Verglas is only going to beat it against single targets. The main issue is that Kengineer lumped the Deconstructor in with the trash and claimed it didn't have any worthwhile use. That is an absurd claim to make.

Deconstructor does have some niche, as it is silent due to being classed as a melee, despite the weapon stats disagreeing, and it is also the only sentinel weapon that an equip Shattering Impact to remove armor. But, a corrosive/heat set up is better for armor stop since the armor scaling changes

Vicious bond? You can equip that too since it's 15% of armor stripping per hit
It is worth noting ecause of Deconstructor's IPS damage cycling mechanic, it will only proc Shattering Impact on one out of every three attacks.
Vicious bond means that spot can be Healing Return instead of Shattering, which works fine on Decon to heal Helios.
Loved that part about Nautilus on the market place, what a time save. Even if you don't care about the catalysts and reactors, slots being included is great too.

I guess this is an end-game problem. I know on the star chart, my Helios Prime with the Deconstructor Prime can kill most enemies without my help, and pretty quick.
Deconstructor Prime honestly has good utility in my experience, as it’s able to armor strip at a relatively cheap cost. Shattering Impact and Viscous Bond combined tend to full strip armor in a burst or two, and I’ve heard mention of a method to keep Deconstructor continually firing rather than it having to “reload” after a burst.
Hope you're seeing all these comments talking about how the deconstructor prime is capable of codex scanning and full armor stripping groups of enemies and working on an addendum. Since new players would probably benefit from stuff like that the most.
Helios codex scans. You can run any sentinel weapon on it and still get that feature.

Huh. I had not caught on that part of Artax's damage was 'immutable'. That's very neat TBH. I thought it was simply Baby's First Verglas, really. The unchanging cold damage makes it significantly more valuable. Might change over to that, with a Fired Up setup.
As for the rest of the video, I've personally found Tazicor a more reliable status spreader than the Helstrum in practice, simply because it doesn't have any projectile travel time, and is not stopped by corners or scenery. The damage is very bad though, most definitely.
Just a note on the Helstrum and Tazicor, you can use primed firestorm for bettter AOE status spread. The chain range increases to 5.75m on the Tazicor with the mod, and punch through will allow the effect to propagate multiple times
Why the hell does Tazicor scale with firestorm?
Chaining beam is very quirky. The main beam is affected by Beam Length modifier for its maximum length. The additional beams created on impact of main beam have set "search radius" and will seek the closest enemy. This "search radius" is affected by AoE modifier and the additional beam does not benefit from punch through. This doesn't apply to just Tazicor. It applies to ALL chaining beam weapons. Amprex, Kuva Nukor, Torid, Atomos, you name it

Also additional notes: Ricocheting bullets work the same way. Toxocyst, Lato, Sicarus, Bronco uses the same workaround for their ricochet mechanics. Main projectile creates an additional seeking projectile on impact
@ariaangela3455 tbf, there is at least a little bit of pasta in there, considering they, uh, don't consistently have this working on actual AOE weapons. Like Grimoire (which has no interaction lmao) and I think Shedu just kind of not working. It is really funny that the code for ricochet targeting uses AOE radius though.

Something to note about Artax: It seems to alter the sentinel's targeting priority so that it will avoid attacking any enemy that has a full 10 cold procs unless there are no other available targets.
Meaning that if you spec it into fire rate, status chance, multishot and Shivering Contagion _without_ altering its cold damage, your sentinel will freeze a whole cluster of enemies in under a second, then immediately switch its focus to repeat the process with another group.
It's a pretty good option if you want to passively CC enemies around you for free.

The Verglas can still be easily moded for a triple element gun thanks to the mod "Accelerated Isotope", since it ads radtiation damage separately that does not mix with other elements by itself, adding it to the viral heat setup already mentioned and allowing the nice status spread from the bond mod.
Prime laser rifle is amazing for QoL/as a statstick, you can reach 50% crit with it for tenacious bond, put shivering contagion on it, prime 6 elements for CO (IPS, rad, viral, electric), and put vigilante mods on it for more stacks of the set bonus
I've been using Vulklok for Tenacious Bond, though lately I've been dipping into Kubrows for the Mecha set.
I would like to make an argument for the Burst Laser Prime. There is a specific/niche setup where it is very useful: priming for melee builds. If you use diriga with arc coil and manifold bond, you force proc all statuses from the sentiel weapon within melee range. The burst laser has IPS built in, meaning that it forces the highest number of statuses compared to most companion weapons. On top of this, the burst laser prime can reach the 50% crit threshold without a riven. With this setup, you get a ton of statuses guaranteed instantly for condition overload, and that crit damage multiplier.
I was gonna say the same for laser rifle I use it with the same diriga setup and having 6 unique status without having to use my epitaph is nice for a CO melee build

When I was new, Mr 17 now.. Verglas and Torid were my very first rolls when I started.. my buddy told me to keep them when he saw them. I would have sold them for low plat if I didn’t know how sought out they were.

Ive always used sentinels as extra utility rather than for damage. I modded my death cube with a sweeper that does little damage but as much fire rate, punch through, bullet speed, and increased spread as possible just so it tags as much enemies as possible per shot for energy generator to reset every 5 to 10 seconds.
Ever since I got Nautilus Prime that has replaced Panzer as my default companion. I currently run Verglas Prime with a cold + gas build. The idea behind it is that Nautilus will group the enemies and spread cold with Shivering Contagion while they sit in a gas cloud. Also, those are 2 elements I don't have on most of my weapons so it helps boost GunCO.
On the Helstrum, I would personally recommend equipping it on the Dethcube while running Arcane Energize / Equilibrium builds, as that plays into the “Get Assists for Health/Energy Orbs” playstyle that select mods support.
Tazicor is a better helstrum since it chains now and is a beam. Helstrum can be a pain at priming enemies if you kill them too fast. The projectile speed of the weapon is slow.
My condolences about the stat mismatches between patchnotes and game. Absolute headache to investigate that one
RIP Sentinel weapons. They tried so hard and yet. I understand that not every normal weapon can make it into late game either, but it still sucks that half of the sentinel ones are just completely useless outside of niche cases

I have to disagree with your opinion on the stinger. I’ve found exceptional use with a combination of manifold bond and the status spreading bond to consistently spread toxic, viral, and heat. It has the unique property of being a DOT weapon, where it embeds itself over 3 seconds and does a bit of damage every second (from what I can tell) with each instance of damage not only seemingly having a 100% chance of toxic, but the ability to apply other status effects as well, if not on the initial hit of the projectile.
It’s status chance usually cannot get too far above 70%, but with its decent fire rate and that it’s burst fire, it can still apply plenty of damage. Combine it with fired up, and because it’s a DOT weapon that applies DOT status, fired up is nearly almost at 100% the second it hits. Meaning you will regularly have toxic, viral, and heat damage on an enemy. This can melt a foe pretty fast, and combined with the Fatal Attraction precept mod and manifold bond, you can easily get a proc of viral, toxic, and heat off on multiple enemies when they’re lured in.
TL;DR, the stinger has a lot of potential when given investment, being able to reliably damage enemies and apply heat, viral, and toxic at an effective rate.
What levels you are playing when fatal attraction is even an option...
I never realised before I built Nautilus Prime this week how insane the Verglas was. I haven't potatoed either the weapon or the Sentinel and they're already among my most impactful companions setups.
I didn't realize just how stark the buffs were, but I don't even let my sentinel shoot most of the time and just fill it up with utility mods. slap the vulklok on my sentinel specifically to get over 50% crit chance to give myself the 1.2x crit damage multiplier from the tenacious bond mod.
The deconstructor has a very niche use where you can slap life strike on it so it can be a form of passive healing in eda when the modifiers dont let you pick up health orbs or something
Great video Ken. To add to the video there is another layer of utility I think you missed. AoE sentinel weapons can be very good as an option for energy economy for certain Warframes. Much easier to get than an R5 Arcane energize.
So funny story, I was really excited when I heard the sentinel weapons were getting buffed, because I was tired of running Helstrum, Vulklok, and Verglas. Plus, my boyfriend gave me veiled companion riven for my birthday, so sky's the limit in possibilities for buildcrafting!
...Fast forward to now and instead of running Helstrum, Vulklok, and Verglas, I run Verglas Prime with a CC Riven. Some much for buildcrafting but at least I can turn my lil robot friends into pocket-sized WMD's :P

There is one argument to be made for the Vulklok: It's the easiest sentinel weapon you can get that reaches over 50% crit to trigger Tenacious Bond.
Vulcax is the only other option to do this and it's locked behind rank 5 in Fortuna, which takes a much longer time to get.
Both the Laser Rifle and it's prime with Critical Delay can surpass 50%CC for Tenacious as well.
That and the other weapons I mention in the Tenacious Bond section. The stats changed with Koumei

I didn't look at the primes since, well, they're primes and the whole point was to give an easily accessible option.
I actually will defend deconstructor as a way for you to be able to proc Vicious Bond and Seismic Bond while having a sentinel instead of a hound or beast companion to be able to use the mods

The most annoying bug I found was Multron inflicting self stagger. That one needs fixed, and Helstrum needs the patch note fire rate.
DMR needs a buff to be either a crit weapon or a status weapon, Cryotra should have more fire rate, Stinger... kind of needs another rework (or Stinger Prime)... And we really need the accuracy on the gun type ones to be fixed. Although there is a fun interaction with Vulklok and Burst Laser, if you pair it with a magnetize effect.

While being early does apply to the base version it doesn’t for the prime yet they are often barely any better. It should be like the prime version of Warframe weapons where when it is the prime of an early game weapon it is vastly better showing how the prime is gotten far later in the game.
The Vulcax I've found kind of slaps if you have armor strip of any sort. And by kind of slaps I mean it was erasing level 225 steel corrupted gunners when their armor was off, one or two shots tops. That's before the riven I threw on.
Worth mentioning: the glaive can equip shattering impact, and is the only one.
I use the deconstructor glave with coolant leak for status and triggering archon stretch . The weapon itself may not do anything but I have the right mods for it and I don’t plan on investing into sentinel weapons any time soon.

That's just perfect, I love it.
I have been using hilios prime's deconstructer weapon forever and know it's mechanics pretty well it's damage is good but it act's like a thrown melee which means it will fire as long as it has a blade so if you put a lot of bounce it will fire slower. So the way to increase fire rate is to put less bounce on it and projectile speed. There your helios will act as a turret that will seek and destroy. Especially if put duplex bond on it as since the weapon it has is considered a melee it will pursue and destroy. Though i must warn it has a nasty habit of spawn camping and not allowing enemies to group up
My favorite sentinel weapon for the longest time has always been the Helstrum and I'm glad it's still good. Definitely wish some of the rifles/lasers were more accurate though if they're going to leave the Artax and Verglas pinpoint. Deconstructor is still really good too even if it is Helios specific.
"Deconstructor is not worth using" my butt, my silly floating camera deletes armor from everything in the room without having to rely on corrosive procs and still gets kills all on its own.
I will not stand for Multron slander. It may be just a worse Helstrum when it comes to status spreading, but it has no problem reaching the 50% crit chance breakpoint with a Riven, making it the best budget substitute for Verglas Prime when it comes to status + Tenacious Bond builds.

Helios and Deconstructor can take all 4 bond mods, and be built for magnetic.
So thats armor stripping, shield stripping, scanning, and vulnerability detect on one thing, thats one smart gadget.

Trying to get the verglas riven is well worth the effort, there are less than 20 companion weapon in the game which make getting a verglas riven much more reasonable than getting something like specific rifle riven, also companion weapon riven are sold at simaris, the only difference being the mr decide how fast you can get one, but i think the 1.3 dispo on both verglas and prime version makes it a reasonable target
It is still a pain in the butt. Even at LR4 you need to cap your standing for three days to get one companion riven.
@@xrufus7x468 you can cap your standing within 10min for simaris while also farming things like daily focus, just treat it as a sortie since after getting the mods simaris' standing are basically just for exilus warframe adapter and companion riven, I'm not saying everyone need to chase for this, it's near the range of things like hammer shot or max level secondary encumber, annoying and painful, but within a reasonable range

I think it took 3 companion mods from Sumiris on any relay to get a Verigras Riven. And it will kill a room of 20 level 225 SP heavy gunners if you are patient enough. But here is the problem my Pharaoh Predisite can kill demolysts spit out viral procs gather up enemies slash them to death gives and gives me extra loot. So for now the Sentinals are for specific missions only Nautilus for high level RJ and Shade for Mag.
Nice now that all the sentinal weapons got some buffs I longer have to rely on vulcax with riven to trigger tenacious bond

I'm very much a fan of the classical single target weapons in Warframe, so it's a little sad to find out that the Sentinel weapons I loved as a new player like Deth Machine Rifle, Sweeper, and Laser Rifle, are still pretty useless. Sure they were alright at very low levels, but obviously that falls off pretty fast. Which got me thinking:
Maybe they could do something like what they did with the other companions Link Mods, but for Sentinel weapons? Like a mod that lets you copy X% of your Primary or Secondary weapon's crit or status chance, or damage values, so that they don't make the Sentinel weapons strong unless you yourself have strong weapons to pair them with?
I'm bad with stats, so idk if that would be useful, or broken, or useless, I dunno lol

Best use of the Tazicor now, is using Coolant Leak as ur attack mod. Turns the weapon in to an AOE around you. anything that comes into range instantly gets full spectrum of status's u equipped.
Personnaly I almost never use the Verglas, I don't really want my sentinel to kill stuff, I just want it to spread tons of status and get assists to proc synth deconstruct, that why I mostly use Tazicor and Helstrum
found it a little odd that your spiel about buying base Verglas/Nautilus for plat didnt also mention Nautilus Prime/Verglas prime currently farmable from relics (and probably comparably cheap for a set via trade)

Throwing Cryotra under the bus makes me sad, but I guess I should try out the Helstrum and see how they compare on the Nautilus. I’ve been using Cryotra with a Cordon spam setup as crowd control support for shield gate frames, so if Helstrum gets me more output those frames will be happy campers.
Try the tazicor instead for priming. It doesn’t have projectile travel time like the helstrum. The tazicor is a beam that chains.

The deconstructor can be used to get the gladiator set bonus, but that's simply not a useful enough feature to use Helios with an otherwise useless weapon.
They nerfed the gladiator set bonus, it no longer works on pets. The other sets still work however.

Not only is Vulcax trash, it has an MR requirement of 14, one of the highest in the game. Really wish they had done more for it.
Could I ask why you don't put the Galvanized mods on them?
Too bad sentinels don't have the most important buff to me personally, which is Resourceful Retriever. Getting occasional double Steel Essence is just so freaking nice.

This video is very informative, but it’s not very user-friendly. If somebody wanted to have a quick reference to your builds for each gun, they would have to remember what build the gun was for since you don’t label them for snapshots. I find that a lot of UA-camrs do that… yes I understand. I could pause it and write it down, but the inconvenience causes me to go elsewhere in the future. Other than that I think the video is great.

Dang, that last section is so not what I wanted to hear.... having just unlocked a multron riven and realizing I can get past the 50% break point now... also isn't there some niche uses to the deconstructor because it has access to melee mods? Stripping armor is think. I guess maybe not anymore with vicious bond hu?
For sentinel priming which is better? Helstrum or Tazicor?
you should npot put heat on on your sentinel unless you aren't plannign on using heat on your main weapon, because the heat proc will inherent it's lower damage onto all future procs

Tazicor is a Waaay better cold proc applicator than the rest. Mod it for corrosive cold with some reload speel and multishot and enemies can't even reach you
