I’m 17 years old and believe God is calling me to full time pastoral ministry, and I thought this question this morning. God has been quick to answer my questions lately!
Thank you Lord God for this lesson. 😇🙏 Don’t say I may not be chosen. Rather say, since all God’s choosing is holy and totally dependent on unconditional free grace alone, there is absolutely no reason that can be given to think that I should be excluded. Therefore, I will not be excluded. I will embrace the Savior. I will hear Him coming out of Pastor John’s mouth saying “Come to me all of you who labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me for I am meek and lowly in heart and you will find rest for your souls for my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
I just prayed an hour or two ago asking God to please give me a sign that I am or am not delusional about my salvation. I have made enormous mistakes in my walk. This video notification came up as I looked at my to do list and saw my Bible reading up next. I think I can take that as a good sign. I have no reason to think I my works in life have excluded me from God's grace. But I don't know if that is Him trying to tell me yes, He does indeed love me and yes, I am indeed saved. But if not, there's nothing else I can do. I have done my best to surrender to Him. I thank God that He has done the work. How mighty Jesus is.
I, like you, have also made enormous mistakes in my walk. When you said, "I thank God that He has done the work" I felt it soften my heart. It's hard to describe, like I feel a little lighter, and it made me tear up. Thank you and thank God Almighty that He has done the work! Glory to Him.
@@glst1591 I almost didn't write that part, but I knew it was important for some reason. I'm glad it helped you. It is good to know that these troubles are shared amongst us. Blessings to you and your home. May we be with our Lord always.
You could take the biblical route and in your brokenness, confess your sin and surrender to Jesus who once famously said “when I am lifted up I will draw all men unto myself”.
We better think it like this: God elect you by annointing you to believe the gospel. Without annointing you cant say Jesus is Lord. Therefore is a encouragement to pursue the righteousness of God.
David had a heart after God's own heart before he was anointed. Where does it say that we are unable to say Jesus is Lord? If you're not even supposed to pray for faith if you're not saved, then what's the point of pursing righteousness? You are completely unable to even do any thing right according to Piper. Everything Derrek Webb (reformed atheist) says seems correct with Piper's teachings. You are "literally in the grave next to Lazarus waiting to hear [your] name". "God would have to give [you] faith". "You can't reach out and grab it". "What it would take" for you to have faith "is a miracle". You need to consider that "maybe God made [you] and fashioned you for destruction". "Maybe it's all real and you're just not chosen". A dead man can't listen for God. "Lazarus wasn't listening", he "wasn't paying attention", he "wasn't wishing or hoping for it', he "wasn't seeking it". He "was just suddenly called out". It's a "hard and Biblical Word". ua-cam.com/video/ORYcoIpIQSw/v-deo.html

At the very least, human free will to choose or deny Christ is part of his sovereignty, even if it's a mystery to us how that works, like if God can see ahead of time who will or won't choose to follow him or something like that. To say we have no choice in the matter is just wrong.
Well said. And, it is a paradox. I think if you follow the biblical doctrine of Providence and God’s Sovereignty to its nth degree, we find that somehow even our free choices are ultimately determined by God in some form of fashion… but again, like you said, it is a mystery as to how that seeming contradiction works… and, so far as we are concerned and to all our senses, we have free choice and are accountable for what we choose.
@@projectg408 yeah. I worry about how the concept of the elect and/or predestination affects evangelism, sharing God with others, sharing God with those who are in pain, who need God most, who are on the fence. For all intents and purposes, I believe Calvinists should focus on the idea that we choose Christ, that His grace and mercy and forgiveness is for ALL. The doctrine of the elect, predestination doesn't lead to anything good as we struggle with sin, attempt to understand who Jesus is, to the average person
I just cant believe in the "elect/Calvinism". I believe we have free will and that if we decide to trust in the lord it is because of him who gave us that free will and died on the cross. All the work was done by him alone we just have to decide to believe or not and if we do believe then we must put our full trust.
Yeah but the Bible say no one chooses God without God first choosing them. If God didn’t choose us we wouldn’t be able to believe in the first place. I believe he chooses us but then allow our free will to decide to choose him back and make decisions every day to be better Christians.
Why not its biblical...Jesus said nobody can come to Him unless God "enables him" which means sinful decaying humans are completely incapable of understand the Cross without God opening their eyes first. Without God choosing us first, the best possible outcome is that we become religious. There's millions of believers but very few born again followers. Don't just have an opinion, read Romans 9. The last two people on earth who had truly free (and sinless, I might add) were Adam and Eve. With that sinless free will, they chose to disbelieve God and then disobey Him. Ponder that. We are all dead in our trespasses and sins. The god of this age had blinded our eyes so that we cannot see the light of the glory of God. We are enemies of God and hostile. None of us are free until the Son sets us free, and if the Son sets you free you are free indeed. I receive grace from the hand of a gracious God. He made me alive in Christ. God is merciful to those to whom He wishes to be merciful. I cannot explain it any better. Hope that helps.
