For me, they're parallel universes, not the same. Ramona in the anime comes across as better, more human. A loyal, yet distant friend. Ramona in the film to me came across as an idea, as opposed to a person. That girl you look at from a distance and looks cool, Batman-like. But you never really get near enough to talk to her.
This fight easily has the best shots in the entire film. Ramona reaching out stop Roxy, the disco ball shattering and reflecting everyone, the zoom in on Roxy's face before Ramona kicks her. Very DePalma.
I’m most excited to hear Mae Whitman reprise Roxy in the new Scott Pilgrim anime. She’s a seasoned voice actress, so I know she’ll deliver excellently like she does here.
I love how Ramona without even realizing just completely roasts Roxy, saying that what they had meant nothing and it was jsut an experiment, just goes to show how terrible she is as a person.

In comparison the book was pretty mean to her, Scott just cuts her in half with his love sword. That's, uh, not a euphemism. Just in case someone hasn't seen the film or read the books. The power of love manifests as a sword.

Mae Whitman’s portrayal of Roxy was phenomenal, her character was so dynamic and intense that one just had to watch her every move and gesture. Quite hypnotizing this scene 👍🏼👍🏼
