Honestly, compared to the final fight in the comic and the game (the fight doesn't exist in the anime) I think The movie has the best Katayanagi Twins fight.
I saw this scene on HBO while trying to find something to watch as a kid and instantly fell in love with the movie. Had the rewatch it in its entirety.
@@SabaelosOh man that's such a cool experience.. I love stuff like that!!... I think that happened to me with watchman but I could be wrong I just know that's happened to me. And it's the best when it lives up to expectations...
@bddb9239 Nope. Todd did it twice actually, one for Ramona and Envy so technically there should have been two holes but it depends where the movie was supposed to be in the timeline vs. The comic. The movie condensed the story a lot
@@crystaljon I mean I would say combination of the actors and writing choice. The Twins in the movie are deliberately filler characters, for the purpose of rounding out the story and creating the 'pre-climax' (Final big Sex Ba-Bomb scene, final round of band battles, Scott and his band fighting together, Ramona and Gideon on the line, etc.)
Yeah, it's really interesting. And you could argue it's got multiple layers of symbolism to it. Sex Bob-omb is a scrappy indie band who are unpolished but bursting with creativity, while I imagine that the Katayanagi Twins have had a while to perfect their sound (practiced, perfected, confident). The twins are calm, calculated, and assured of their victory with their energy dragons and slick keyboard skills. Meanwhile, Scott only just realised that Ramona's final evil ex, Gideon Graves (aka the big time record producer that his band is vying after), has taken her back and is now SEETHING with anger and jealousy (utterly thrashing the twins with his energy yeti).
The difference is amazing. The actor's versions are my fave, their sound is so Raw, the studio versions sound clean. The same guy wrote and recorded both versions and performs the studio version. The actor's versions of the songs really capture that garage band/street punk sound.
Even though I have seen this film a dozen times or more, this clip was the first time I noticed the Katayanagi twins amps go up to 11 as denoted by the Kanji symbols for ten and one.
Longstory short: Beck wrote Sex Bob-ombs songs. None of the actors but M. Cera knew how to play instruments. The lead guitarist had to learn how to play & sing. Drummer never held a drumstick before production. Cera knew basic strumming & thumbing. Todd the vegan's Bass riffs for the bass battle were original and took 4 months to practice. First one kinda sounds like "can't stop" by RHCP.
Edgar Wright’s other films (including Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, the World’s End, and Baby Driver) have a pretty similar style, though Scott Pilgrim is unique in a lot of ways.
Everything Everywhere All at Once has a really similar vibe in my opinión. Very high energy, goofy, random humor and fun action scenes . They’re both two of my favorites
Even though this movie bombed at the box office in the acting for a live-action movie was the last thing people were thinking about it was good in its own guilty pleasure way
No, I’ve seen different bands playing in different rooms at a venue, but that just sounds like it would be an acoustical mess. They would drown each other out.
So many right choices were made for this scene. My only complaint is that it should've been longer. Such a great idea and premise deserves more screen time. LOVE this scene!
@@VelvetTrickster The respawn was never mentioned in the anime, the twins being alive in the future is literally never explained, they just come back because they feel like it LMAO
It goes both ways. The whole point of the movie was that they were both acting really shitty. At the end, it's moreso about trying to be better for each other. That said, I kind of agree with you. Irl, a relationship like this is definitely not worth working on IMHO. Better to split and be better for the next relationship.
The problem is that movie cuts out the character growth both characters go through in the comics. The comic makes it much clearer that Scott’s relationship with Knives, Kim and Envy and Ramona’s relationship with all her exes (except Gideon) were more flawed then either of them are willing to acknowledge. That both of them were not good partners at all, and they need to acknowledge this about themselves in order to become a healthier couple.
