Seriously, and it’s so frustrating how the adults in this situation can’t just confine their issues to the court-they have to drag the names and alleged opinions of NewJeans themselves into press releases. Like, it literally feels like parents going through a divorce and trying to wield the kids against their ex.
I agree. I feel so sad for the members. It's not right at all to be using their emotions to sway public opinions. A lot of the allegations are petty, too. The problem is whatever happens the damage is done. Other groups have been caught up in this mess too. Notably Le Sserafim. I can't wrap my head around the problem with them debuting before NewJeans... That's one of the most childish and ultimately irrelevant things I've seen being thrown around. It's so unprofessional to have made this storm of drama. No matter how things are resolved people are going to question things. I'm not sure how this can end well for everyone. I really loved ILLIT's debut, and I've loved most of NewJeans songs. ILLIT were doing so well, too. I don't think the accusations of copying are fair, and it's wild to make all this drama when people online and the media can be so toxic. Backlashes can reverse, too. One day everyone can have one target for their hate, and then they can do a complete 180° and love the old target and hate the ones they were loving and supporting before. It's inexcusable to stir up drama in this way, especially when the members involved are all so young. I really hope it gets resolved quickly, but I'm worried that the mess so far is going to cause a lot more issues no matter what.
That's just it, Hybe is trying to keep it in a legal setting but Min Heejin and her team are bound and determined to keep this in the court of public opinion. Everything that keeps coming out is all set to make her look like a saint when the fact of the matter is that she made a gamble and lost. As for Bang PD not acknowledging them, will we ever know if that is the truth or has it been Min Heejin, who has been playing the long game and has set this in motion for a while manipulating behind the scenes. The only people I feel sorry for is those girls. Between Min Heejin acting like a moron in public and getting the parents to air supposed dirty laundry in public it will truly be a miracle if those girls get to keep the careers that they have been working so hard for.
I still can't believe Bobby has a son, happy for that man being a fan of him since his debut. 2015, wow time really flies suddenly he has a wife and a child at the age of 28 and still an active Kpop idol. 😂

They're only ages 16-20, and they debuted less than two years ago. I'm not a Bunny, and I don't really listen to their music, but it doesn't take an expert to know that they're aren't just living their life without this drama impacting them in some way.

However the fact that Winwin had to explain himself that he had arranged his schedule to do both a year ago but SM changed Wayv’s comeback date last minute so Winwin could no longer participate, a giant detail SM CONVENIENTLY left out, makes me so mad at SM. 😡 I hope people don’t misunderstand Winwin like I did, he and all the Wayv members deserve so much more 🥺

as a MY, I am really concerned for Winter for this promotional period. a double title track for their first full length album is A LOT, and needs to be attacked head on with the full strength of all members. Winter is sickly, and needs to rest. this insane amount of work is only going to make it worse. it’s affecting how the group performs: they are less likely to sing live, and have to be a bit tamer with their choreography. i wish SM would’ve pushed back the release of Armageddon. i worry for Winter’s well-being.

Everybody copies everyone else in kpop, including NWJS who blatantly rip off the videos and styling of jpop groups then cry about other people copying them. If you want actual originality you're following the wrong genre. And if you want positive uplifting messages and artistry you should stan groups like BTS and SVT instead of whatever these toxic ADOR people come up with.

Is it a bad time to confess that I don't see the big deal with the alleged "copying" of NewJeans by ILLIT ? (or rather, their teams) Similar concepts, songs and/or dance moves happen ALL THE TIME in Kpop. It's the least proprietary thing in the world to have "teenage innocence" as a concept for a girl group or song, we've seen idols do that for decades. As for choreos, the internet is full of TikToks, Shorts and more, comparing dozens of groups using similar moves... nothing new under the sun. HYBE and ADOR/MHJ need to stop this bullsh*t before it kills one or even two golden geese. For all the comparisons with the FIFTYFIFTY legal soap opera, we seem to forget that the main takeaway was that this sh*t froze the group for months (completely botching the Barbie tie-in in the process) and then most members left. We'll see what the June comeback brings... I'm not optimistic for now. HYBE and ADOR might want to stop the BS before we get to the ugly part of this drama.

I really hope it gets resolved quickly, but I'm worried that the mess so far is going to cause a lot more issues no matter what.
That's just it, Hybe is trying to keep it in a legal setting but Min Heejin and her team are bound and determined to keep this in the court of public opinion. Everything that keeps coming out is all set to make her look like a saint when the fact of the matter is that she made a gamble and lost. As for Bang PD not acknowledging them, will we ever know if that is the truth or has it been Min Heejin, who has been playing the long game and has set this in motion for a while manipulating behind the scenes. The only people I feel sorry for is those girls. Between Min Heejin acting like a moron in public and getting the parents to air supposed dirty laundry in public it will truly be a miracle if those girls get to keep the careers that they have been working so hard for.

They're only ages 16-20, and they debuted less than two years ago. I'm not a Bunny, and I don't really listen to their music, but it doesn't take an expert to know that they're aren't just living their life without this drama impacting them in some way.

as a MY, I am really concerned for Winter for this promotional period. a double title track for their first full length album is A LOT, and needs to be attacked head on with the full strength of all members. Winter is sickly, and needs to rest. this insane amount of work is only going to make it worse. it’s affecting how the group performs: they are less likely to sing live, and have to be a bit tamer with their choreography. i wish SM would’ve pushed back the release of Armageddon. i worry for Winter’s well-being.

Under the law there's no such thing as copyright for choreography, which means the NWJS choreographer can go pound sand. Everybody copies everyone else in kpop, including NWJS who blatantly rip off the videos and styling of jpop groups then cry about other people copying them. If you want actual originality you're following the wrong genre. Is it a bad time to confess that I don't see the big deal with the alleged "copying" of NewJeans by ILLIT ? (or rather, their teams) Similar concepts, songs and/or dance moves happen ALL THE TIME in Kpop. It's the least proprietary thing in the world to have "teenage innocence" as a concept for a girl group or song, we've seen idols do that for decades. As for choreos, the internet is full of TikToks, Shorts and more, comparing dozens of groups using similar moves... nothing new under the sun. HYBE and ADOR/MHJ need to stop this bullsh*t before it kills one or even two golden geese. For all the comparisons with the FIFTYFIFTY legal soap opera, we seem to forget that the main takeaway was that this sh*t froze the group for months (completely botching the Barbie tie-in in the process) and then most members left. We'll see what the June comeback brings... I'm not optimistic for now. HYBE and ADOR might want to stop the BS before we get to the ugly part of this drama.
