Ariana Grande Slams Wicked Actress For Attacking Fans

- Wicked is all set to be a massively successful blockbuster, however main actress Cynthia Erivo has caused a huge backlash that may affect how successfull Wicked ends up being. As she chose to attack a fan who just made a fan poster for the movie which wasn't harmful in any way. And it seems even Ariana Grande may agree with the fans on this one, as she said she loves Cynthia Erivo, however the fans will have fun and make their edits. However only time will tell if this backlash will hurt the movie in any way.

These people forget that without fans, their jobs are meaningless.
Fans and theatres are the backbone of the industry!
I agree. They forget, fans and theatres are their customers. It's the way their movie makes money. It's Ariana Grande's possibly first movie. She isn't going to mess it up.
The fan poster is actually better.
Exactly. Fans are the ones who pay their own money to preview the movie and that money provide for the future film projects. You troll them and they might walk away and never come back.
@@kymulina1499It really doesn't matter, does it? The movie and the studios might lose millions of dollars, but the actors already have their money in the bank, already signed to their next project.
It’s like she literally jumped at the chance to be the victim
They ALL do
Just like "Cleopatra", I feel they now create works mostly to bait/provoke people, then play victim after backlash
I can't imagine why (/sarc)
Black people enjoy being the victim.
It’s like she was waiting for backlash to happen
Only a narcissist would play victim over something as moronic as a fan editted poster.
thing is the fan art was a tribute
victimhood is very recent!
A little insecure are we, Cynthia?
Nothing says “out of touch” like demonizing the very people who decide if your film succeeds or not.
Exactly
@@chance_ondriezek99 and also showing that you are totally unfamiliar with the source that your film is based off of.
Remember how great she was in the pinnochio live action as the bald, blue fairy.
She thought her face being visible would show the world how stunning and brave she is.
Because she hinted a racial problem, now I'm curious:
This level of paranoia would have occurred with a white actress in her place?
To me she it was the opposite. She comes of vain & twisted like the original Wicked Witch of the West in The Wizard of Oz (1939). 'Begone before someone drops a house on you' - Glinda.
To be brave is to overcome your fears, not crying victim whenever you don't like something. Stunning beauty is when someone is smiling through their tears, not throwing a tantrum.
"I...chose to look right down the barrel of the camera..." said the millionaire actress losing it over harmless fan art that was giving her free promotion until she CHOSE to go unhinged over it, and she says this as people being are being killed all over the world in multiple major wars by looking down the barrels of guns. Wow, so brave.
"I chose to put the fries in the bag." Apparently, it is a personal sacrifice to fulfill the role in your job description.
@@justinjakeashton and responding to online fan art wasn't even part of her job description.
As a former theater kid, I was willing to give this movie a chance. But because of Cynthia’s behavior, it’s a hard pass for me now.
Tell me you torpedo your film without telling you torpedoed it.
Ahahahahahaha
When actors act this entitled I get edited right out of the theater. Movies just aren't that important in the scheme of things.
I didn't expect Ariana Grande of all people to have a based take, but I'm not complaining.
Whoever she is she is right.
She watched her fans at a concert get blown up in an explosives attack years back. It makes sense she defends fans.
She always has been very mature about things like that especially about her fanbase
Juicy Smollett's racist play-the-victim playbook.
I genuinely never would have expected Grande to be the more level headed of the two.
What a world.
Narcissistic personality disorder.
NPD
Imagine how that guy must have felt upon seeing her response. I wouldn't have expected to be labeled a racist for altering a poster, she wanted to be offended.
I have already made up my mind to NOT WATCH this ‘movie’. It is definitely an insult to the original Theatre (Broadway) Musical production.
Yeah I’m still going to watch it and hope it’s good however the marketing has taken a bad turn
It's not even out yet....
I was curious to see it. Now I'm wondering if I have to get permission from the star if I want to enjoy it.
I was interested... but I don't support bullies who try everything in order to attack other people, playing the victimhood card to coherce silence and apologies, and gain privileges.
I'm DONE with the woke mafia, they left me with 0% tolerance for their BS
She’s a woke activist masquerading as an actress. people like that are professional victims, and they’ll jump at any chance to engage in victimhood
Yeah, and Trump is a successful business man 😂
I was going to watch the movie, now after her saying this i will not.
I think a lot of people are with you on that one. Especially those who aren’t too familiar with the musical and were just interested in the movie
Thank you Cynthia, you might be responsible for making the film a huge flop.
You played your character in real life very well. I congratulate you.
@@markmunroe-hz8rf she went meta af.
I hope it is. I was never planning to watch it anyway, just because the hiring of the black woman as the Wicked Witch clearly shows the film is woke.
I honestly feel sorry for the guy who made the edit. Poor guy just wanted to make a movie poster more accurate to the source and got hit for it.
so what about you being dishonest? lmao and homie don't feel sorry or bad. being hit is part of life. taking punches is part of the dance. being hurt would be another thing altogether. but it's not that deep dawg.
@@housemanaso why you tripping then
I don’t feel sorry for him at all. matter of fact I feel a measure of respect for him, and I’ll give him even more props because his innocent action of making some fanart actually triggered and exposed this woke activist actress for who and what she really is
I’m getting sick of actor’s opinions.
Why do all these people get easily offended nowdays? They say the love greece but they must have missed the way people talk to each other here. The would have sued every greek person.
Because it's fashionable being a victim, nowadays.
Ashamed of nothing, offended by everything.
0:55 I seriously doubt she chose the pose during that photo shoot. And if she did, it was simply to show her full face because she’s not a recognizable actress yet.
Hopefully she never finds out about DeviantArt.
They all seem to forget how much it costs to NOT watch something.. NOTHING. Which is how much I'll be spending on this.
What surprises me is that nine of these actors seem to have agents to tell them to stop and think about what they are saying. If she had just ignored the poster people would have just forgotten about it in just a few days.
I agree that actors (or their agents) need to hire PR or media reps to pass all their comments to before anything gets posted. That would avoid all the "damage control" after the dumb comments get posted.
@@shawndixon4536 Not gonna work. The PR people are woke themselves and would just fawn on her and tell her she's right.
@@alexandresobreiramartins9461 Very good point!
0:48 I can't imagine being this unhinged. She's literally begging to be a victim, and now she is a victim. A victim of her own deranged need to be a victim. Not a huge fan of Ariana Grande, but she handled it like a champ.
These people never learned. Never attack the fans, the fans is the one paying for those movies. Plus fan edits and fan arts are always happening everytime be it in movies or even in books. That is the fun in it.
Why are all these diva actresses racing to make the Hollywood blacklist?
Imagine being mad that you have a fan base enthusiastic enough to create fan art.
I really enjoy your videos and commentary.
Good to see an Aussie guy doing well.
Congrats and keep up the good work!
Thank you so much!!
She lived up to the movie's title
If the poster memes really ticked off Cynthia, wait until she reads the fanfictions about her character.
Got 1 word “streaming.”
I got 1 word, too.
“Rejection.”
Here we go again...
Ahahahaha
They really need to enforce PR training with actors, especially the leads.
Ariana Grande was the most levelheaded. It this movie fails, it will probably be Cynthia Erivo's fault.
Yeah her response was well said. She supported the fans and said they were having fun (therefore disapproving of Cynthia’s reaction) but also said she really respects Cynthia. Very kind and positive!
Its not like Ariana is in a position to say anything remotely negative to fans since she got backlash for being a homewrecker😂😂😂 she is part of the bad press surounding the movie.🤡
thanks, now they can change her with Indina Menzel for part 2, without any explenation.
Seriously, it would be so cool if they choos an Actress that looks similair to Indina, and after the TIme Skip, we get Indina and Christen.
Looks like Hollywood ran out of chill pills.
a person with a face like that is someone who has banned all mirrors from their life.
hahaha
Celebrities really do get a bit too into their own hype at times.
I once lost 10.000 on a horse.
She just run off with it.
Setting your own movie on fire for a little bit of extra attention seems rather stupid.
Henry Cavill is just such a good dude. Like, a good human being. Can we please get a movie with Henry Cavill and Keanu Reeves? I don't even care what it's about. It could be a documentary of spore mold and I would still go see it just to support their work, lol.
Offence is taken not given....and people out there will find offence in things where it was obvious it was not intended
I also agree that this really won’t affect how people will see the movie just that this has shown people that she can be really petty over minor things that not many people even pay attention to
My local cinema doesn't have that particular poster of Wicked (2024).
Oh what does yours look like?
@@thejessegrant My poster has Cynthia Ervio, Ariana Grande, Michelle Yeoh, Jeff Goldblum and Jonathan Bailey together standing side by side.
Another movie i will never going to watch
Just because you’re told you have ‘big eyes’ doesn’t mean they always come off as expressive. She an actress who ‘can’t act with her eyes’. She needs to use her whole face or it comes off as rbf. She feels her eyes are her best feature, perhaps why she shaved her eyebrows and wears big lashes.
In the era of virtue signaling it's no wonder people take themselves too seriously
She communicates with her eyes? Well, to me she communicted that she is a deer in the headlights.
Doesn’t even look very good being a witch you gotta tell me that’s the best thing could come up with
The edited poster was much better. The original had no meaning, no feeling, just dumb blank facial expression.
I don’t think Ariana is a genius, but she is way smarter than her public perception. She knows what’s what
Say it quietly, because she’ll get offended, but if you look at the doctored poster Ariana’s face is more covered up than the official one as well…not to the same extent, granted, but you don’t here her saying a single word about it
ME ME ME ME MEEEEEEEEE.
Thats pretty much all she said. Pure narcissism
Hay, Cynthia, you're an actress. That's not really you in the poster. It's a fictional character. Grow up.
She's clearly a member of the septum piercing mafia so I'm out 😂
Imagine how disapponted and deflated the fan who edited the poster must feel. :(
This is a lot of nothing to make a big deal about.
I know right! It’s wild that a fan showing their passion gets attacked by the people they are showing passion for
I am a real life human being."
No. You're just a professional victim. 🙄
That's rich coming from someone who licked donuts at a donut shop and said she hated America.
The reason the poster was changed in the first place was to get the actors full face in and I'm presuming that it was a studio decision and a poor one at that. The original poster is subtle and clever.
Disney should have these actors sign a STFU clause. Film your role, sit back and STFU, wait for it to come out.
Fans like something.
Movie makers: "We're gonna take that and make it different"
Fans like the original better.
Movie makers: REEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
that Cavill clip is literally the most based thing ive seen from someone in the entertainment industry. what an absolute G
No one ever explained to her that you can communicate with facial expressions.
I was wondering why it was too silent and why the DEI hire was not trying her hardest to destroy the movie.
And now... the DEI hire is being toxic. Its amazing
Was very excited to see this when I first heard of it. Was less enthused by the DEI casting. She just tanked this movie now. Certainly for me. There’s enough talent in the world that audiences don’t need DEI hires complaining to make a name for themselves instead of their talent.
Has this woman not seen the Broadway production? The playbill image is iconic
Divas aren't anything new.
Just as insufferable today as they were back then.
Its more likely just vanity. The same narcissistic reason why some actors refuse to take any movie roles that hide their faces. The "look at me!" attitude has always been very prevalent in entertainment and they want everyone to know who they are.
I can’t help but notice the amount of "me this" and "me that" in erivo's post...
Is this how people have fun. I’ve been doing it wrong.
When I heard that Arianna was cast as Glinda, I was worried that a "pop singer" wouldn't be able to manage the role. It turns out the universally outraged black woman managed to screw it up instead! I'm still going but, I'm definitely team Glinda!
The original poster is iconic for the mystery of the witch and the red lipstick pops out and draws you attention. Her poster removes those things and replaces it with a bland, lifeless, uncomfortable stare at the audience. Now, she’s complaining about the fans before the movie has even been released. I spy another flop.
I like that Grande defends fans after the attack on her concert. She gets it. She had her fans blown up in-front of her. It’s brutal.
Ever since the wicked trailer came out, Ariana Grande, Michelle Yeoh, and Jeff Goldblum. Are the only ones I recognise there.
and THAT is how you stay Popular.
If she hates a single poster, i cant imagine her reaction to the inevitable 34th rule of the internet
This woman’s beyond pathetic. Never attack your fans; you’ll quickly lose them, that way.
I am a huge fan of movies, but modern Hollywood has made it easier and easier to avoid their products.
1:50 if the story exists for decades, how is it I never heard of it until this story broke out?
You never heard of Wicked? Ahahah it’s huge. I think the exact stat is like 250 million tickets have been purchased to the on stage musical
@@thejessegrant I think a lot of this type of movie (or whatever this is) isn’t famous (or as famous) in Israel as it is in English-speaking countries.
There have been four books in the series and a musical that’s run for 15. Only you can answer where you’ve been all those years.
I am Italian and I've never heard of it before. Maybe it's because we live in non-English speaking countries
@@randygreggerardotjones8681 what do you mean by your last sentence, I was living my life as everyone does, I don’t know everything you know, just because you’ve heard of it all your life, it doesn’t I’ve heard about it all my life, not everything you know every since you were 0 years old know every since I was 0 years old. Not everything is famous and well known everywhere equally.
Arianna is right
The fact that an AI POSTER is the most OFFENSIVE thing she's ever seen.....
Dredd wore the helmet throughout the movie and he didn't complain at all.
Jesse. Are we not surprised that someone with a shaved head & a septum piercing would be offended by something so trivial?
That's exactly why she is the Wicked Witch of the West. She fully embodies her character, just as Ariana does with hers.
Ngl the fan edit looks 10x better. Because it gives you that sense of wonder how shes gonna play the character, specially for those who haven’t seen the original film.
I was going to see the movie. Now, I will not. I am one of millions of Wicked fans who will stay away
It's a lens not a barrel , she thinks she's in some kind of conflict , NPD is a terrible thing .
When it’s socially acceptable again for men to tell women to shut the hell up for being emotionally nuts this will continue to happen.
No joke… Her reply probably lost the movie tens of millions of dollars in revenue.
R@ce-swapped to a toxic actress suffering a severe case of hubris. The character looks ridiculous. How is this a authentic translation of the stage musical? If they did the inverse to a 'diverse' character can you imagine the reaction?
without fans
they are just paid liars...
She sounds too sensitive I would never want to work with her again if this it what she does before our film releases.
"It degrades us". Who is that 'us'? Who is she even representing? If she alone is offended by something totally made up herself, that's her problem. This is why not everyone has the ability to lead or even wield the slightest bit of power. Once they have a tiny bit of audience, they start doing and saying stupid things. Like the actress.
Fun Fact: the working title for this film during production was "Harambe and The Anorexic"
Should have hired Idina Menzel 🤷🏻♂️
Unless it was a cartoon, now Menzel is considered far too old.
The only thing offensive is having to look at the person playing the witch
