- A complete playthrough of Konami's 1987 NES game, Track & Field.
In this recording I play through all of the events of the first loop, and got to the archery event of the second time through when I got a game over. That seemed like a good ending point to the video, since the first loop shows everything that there is to see in the game. This was a pretty excellent multiplayer game back in the day, and I remember pretty distinctly having a 6 year old version of myself having a hard time holding a pencil at school because of the blister on my thumb from this game. Excellent memories.
The NES version is a port of the 1983 computer game made for the 1984 Summer games in LA.
For the arcades, Konami did release a sequel, '88 Games, for the 1988 games in Seoul. You can find my video of that one here: • Track & Field II (NES)...

also the mustache has the advantage that you can give a face a little texture in very little pixels. it added a little bit of liveliness when technology was really limited.

Dude, watching this brings back some awesome memories of my childhood. I know games are way better now, but these simple games were special. Simpler. I miss them.
I wouldn't say games are better now, maybe realistic a little too much, but not better.
These games are what we judge our current games on, and for good reason, because they encapsulate the core essence of what draws people to video games in the first place: they're fun. If a game isn't any fun, it's simply not good.

I remember playing this on our 115 in 1 cartridge in the 90’s and we couldn’t figure out the controls. Like the triple jump, what the hell were we supposed to do to get far? Nostalgia 👍

Used to go to the local pool hall with my late brother when I was a kid and played this game. Then a guy showed me one day the pencil trick on the game that made you run fast. Great memories! Thanks!

The Javelin throw was always my favorite part.. I'd purposely throw high just so I could hit that ufo and hear it's "spiraling-down" music as it falls down xD 2:14

Minha infância todinha sem se preocupar com renda, emprego, bolsonaro, ditadura, violência, perda de direitos, contas e boletos... enfim. Muito legal ver gente de todo o mundo compartilhando o mesmo sentimento. Sensação boa. Quem segura a onda eram nossos pais. Os anos 1980 também foram osso no Brasil, mas eu não sentia o peso, graças aos meus pais.

If I recall, Archery had a bonus with an apple coming out if you excelled in hitting the
bull's eye a few times. I remember this thinking of William Tell hitting the apple with an
arrow. I noticed you did not get that bonus.It was all timing in that event. I loved hitting
that apple. Edit: OK, I saw the other video of what I mentioned. Yeah, been there, done
that many, many times. You had to get a perfect nice for each arrow before getting that
cat with an apple to come out. Good shooting. It was all about rhythm.

Man I loved playing this game as a kid. I remember my cousin Dell had a copy too but he had the NES advantage with the turbo button so I’d beg him to borrow it and he’d never let me, but when I’d go to his apartment, I’d play the hell out of it and always win because of that damn turbo button. I never figured out that stupid archery event though. Crazy when I see others do it. Classic.

My favorite part is the javelin throw. Back then when I were 8, I used to laugh out loud when I hitting the UFO, miss-took it as a someone's underpants hooked on the stick.

I started playing this in like 2011 first... Games like 2p like contra or mario I used to play with mom or dad. Then like 2012 my cousins started to come in our home to stay in summer holidays so in that days we used to play many hours this nes games. We used to try varieties of games. He used to bring his own Cartiges with him and I used to get chance of finding new games.

My grandpa bought a NES to my mom. When she grew she gave the console to my dad and he repaid the NES (one of the buttons doesn't answer). When I was born my dad still having the console and when I was 11 he gave me the NES and we use to play for hours... I miss the console, but most important: I miss my father...
