I had forgotten about this game completely, but seeing the thumbnail for this video I just remembered the level editor. Maaaaaan. I didn't even have NES, how did I play this? One of the top excitebike players now actually did this stuff in the 80s as well interestingly. It can be done by using a bunch of the "H" ramps in the design mode. @@sulecuber
Yeah I did the same!! I accidentally discovered the higher speed trick with those little ramps, so I specifically went into design mode specifically to see what would happen if I put a bunch of those in a row. It was my favorite nintendo trick!
There was a feature for this game that allowed you to design your own tracks. I remember because each obstacle had a letter from A to Z and you could even save and load them. This was the forth game I had when I first got a Nintendo back in 1985. The other three were the Super Mario Brothers/Duck Hunt game and Gyromite with the Rob Robot. Good memories :)
imagine if this was a real motorcross event in real life. imagine the commentators saying this guy is a menace deliberately crashing their bikes into another, then suddenly teleporting to the ground.
And it's amazing that we're spinning on a glob at 1,000 miles per hour. Even more amazing is that the only thing that's holding is down is the mass of the earth causing a gravitational pull.
Love that they even programmed the races to hustle back to their bike after they wipe out. A lot of games would just reset the player & bike simultaneously.
