As good as Christian McBride is technically, what makes him so great is how much fun he’s having. His bass lines are fun to listen to because he’s just having fun and jamming. A true legend

I want to send a big thanks to your neighbors for allowing these concerts to keep going. Another great clip from what must be the coolest apartment anywhere.

Thelonious is smiling. Emmett channels him like few others. And Christian sure digs it.

Love those little bomblets Emmet throws down a la Thelonious. When I get back from Spain I'm gonna Monk my piano all night long. 😁

I think one person they need to get in on this act is Joan Chamorro. He's got the kind of energy and presence that would suit this place real well.

Was really hoping Russell would hop up & walk under McBride's solo (not that he needs it)
It'd just be rad to see

9:27 McBride did so well that he appears twice in the end credits... I agree, but I think everyone else also should've come up twice

Why is everyone smiling? I love to watch the body language of drummers. Kyle is both loose and abrupt. Very cool. The dude in the hat: he's having too much fun.

Comme d'habitude, au top du plaisir de jouer et d'écouter... mais de qui la composition?

  • @danyelnicholas

extremely imaginative playing on all sides, certainly not least McBride's. Cohen's solo is so good, it is like little Goldberg-variations on Bemsha.

It's impressive to hear Emmet copying Monk so accurately during the head. Happy he stopped afterwards and moved to his own style afterwards.

Is that trumpet half carbon fiber? Does anyone know if that makes a difference for the feel?

Oh My Lord! How COOL! The drummer must be Monk's great grand son but as far as I remember Monk had a relationship to a white woman.
