Everything Great About Alan Wake 2! (Part 1) • Everything GREAT About...
Here's Everything GREAT about Alan Wake 2! I hope you enjoy the video! This is the biggest video that Gabe has written so I hope you show him some love and enjoy it! This game is a beast so you can expect the next part next week. Alan Wake isn't a series I've ever played but Gabe has got lots of history with it so no better than for him to take it on.
For business purposes, my email can be found in the "about" section on my channel page.

Please do a video on differences u experience when u play new game plus (final draft) in alan wake 2!
I love the amount of small details and connections they put in to control, like how in the AWE DLC jesse witnesses Alan's and Zane's conversation and we see her appear in Tom's TV
Appreciate the tribute to Jim McCaffrey, he was incredibly important to Remedy and was just a great actor in general. Truly a tragic loss, will be so weird having new Remedy titles without him
I didn’t even know that he died until I watched this video he was one of my favorite voice actors I’m completely devastated 😭
@Lunarwolf57272 I know, in a year of losing a lot of incredible people the new of him passing hit harder than all of them. I cannot begin to imagine all the hours i spent listening to his voice playing Max Payne 1 and 2
Poets of the fall actually gave five songs, only three of them were in the game, but the sea of night and children of the elder god are also fire
Children of the elder god is in aw1, but agreed, both are great songs
15:58 I think they’ve explained this somewhat in Control: the Oceanview Hotel/Motel is said to be operating on “dream logic”, so it’s a place that’s shaped by the user’s perception but ultimately maintains a few intrinsic traits. Assuming that one of those traits is to embody one’s vision of the archetypal hotel, this could explain why Jesse and Alan have vastly different experiences with the Oceanview.
The fact that Alan’s Dark Place resembles New York might also be a factor, as any location inside would need to feel consistent with the overall setting.
Funny thing about the Cynthia fight, I was empty on all of my weapons after pumping round after round into her.
Then, I did the melee on her as an F- you and she died.
Didn't know melee does damage to enemies until that point.
I noticed it when I was fighting against Scratch behind the police station, It was awesome, I was about to give up and restart the phase
Another game that involves stories shaping reality is "What remains of Edith Finch", where you play as the titular character, revisiting her family home after nearly a decade. She's the last surviving member of a supposedly cursed family, where creative expression and death are deeply ingrained in the family's culture. It's a quick game about death, family, and even legacy, and I recommend you try it out, rather or not you could make a video on it, because in my opinion, it's more of an experience than anything else.
Awesome video. But i noticed that you didn’t mention anything about new game plus mode, “The Final Draft”
It woulg give it so many extra points to the final score
I personally think the intro parts for every Alan Wake loop (the talk shows, the musical) aren't actually Wake's writing but rather Mr Door making something up to orient Wake every time the cycle begins. Which makes the chorus of Herald of Darkness so damn cool IMO - it's literally Door pointing at Wake and saying "See this guy? That's Scratch, he and Wake are literally the same guy"
Edit: also in the Dark Ocean Summoning part at one point the Taken start attacking the bus, and you're told to defend it, but if you aren't quick enough Tor literally summons a lightning bolt to take out the attacking Taken
You should’ve done this part 13 years after part one
Holy shit not only have I never noticed the owl thing, but I haven't seen anyone else mention it either!
I love the own and deer comparison and I love when she stops using her clairvoyance the deer antlers are always about her head to help prove the theory
I can't wait for Alan wake 1 part 1
Could you do everything great about metro 2033
Oh, doing that series would be very good. You got my upvote.
I JUST bought Alan Wake 2! And I'm watching this download! What a treat!!
Dont, the superises are amazing
@@gamebroots4686 it's might be bit too late for me, bud. I already watched a video on it, bc I misread the title and thought it was the first Alan Wake. 😅
Although, If I'm honest, I don't remember much since I was also baking cookies at the time. Takes a lot of focus, especially when I managed to mess up the recipe I've made a dozen times before
So is mr.door Martin hatch? Obviously we know Lance Reddick has passed so having a different actor does throw things off a bit since they don't flat out say hatch and mr.door is the same person but having sheriff breaker being obsessed with mr.door does make sense if they are the same person
I would agree with the theory that they’re the same person. In Quantum Break, Hatch is described as a shifter, which means he can have multiple copies of himself exist in different realities at the same time. I think this could potentially mean that some of his physical characteristics can differ between realities: in the case of AW2, his face is different. And like you pointed out, it makes sense with Tim Breaker searching for Door - perhaps due to the events that unfold after the end of QB, with Jack Joyce given the option to replace Paul Serene at Monarch. We know that Hatch, being a shifter, was trying to use Serene to realize his own plans for the End of Time. Maybe with him now using Joyce to do the same, something happened that led Joyce (Breaker) to start chasing Hatch across different timelines/realities. This is all without even mentioning that “door” and “hatch” as words have a very similar meaning. I’m personally just glad the character lives on in the Remedy Multiverse despite Reddick’s passing (RIP to an incredible actor). So him having a different face in different realities, I feel like is a smart move on Remedy’s part, and it does kind of make sense in terms of the lore.
I'm not even watching this in 2x, that's how much I've been waiting for it.
2x is my favorite way to watch most YT videos. Lmao
couldnt finish this game, so im glad u made a video on it.
😂
I begrudgingly finished it. It wasn’t as interesting as I thought it would be. It’s basically just do a lot of walking and putting papers together, weird things happen for some reason, occasionally shoot things, the end.
There are 5 or 6 different markings on the doors I believe. I remember watching a video telling each one stood for; Control, Control 2, a not yet named projected called Vanguard, Alan Wake which is the spiral ofc and one other unknown symbol... very excited to find out more
I may not have liked this game, but I'm gonna leave my comment and a thumbs up! Love your stuff, dude! Can you please do gears 2 eventually?!
Have been waiting for this for too long!
What is it with oceanview hotels being the scariest horror pieces in the game they're in?
great video! thank u

You know, you'd think by now he'd already done it, I do believe he tried doing that, after all, the events of American Nightmare happened... And that didn't work. I don't think Door should be a reliable source on the whole rules of the Dark Place thing, since for one, he's an elder god, "rules" for him are basically guidelines. He can open a door here and appear in the Dark Place, and two, if Alan just wrote a story and waltzed out, there's the possibility that the Dark Presence could take advantage of that and escape as well. It happened to Thomas Zane before, just as it nearly happened to Alan in the events of AW1.
And while yes, the possibility that the rules might be self imposed by Alan himself might be true, it might also work like Batman's "no kill rule." Alan _can_ write a story and waltz out... However, in doing so, many terrible things can happen, so he forces himself not to, not just for his sake, but for the outside world.
Maybe the Oceanview Hotel is a counterpart to the Motel in the Dark Place? Near the ending of Control, the Hiss were trying to invade the Oceanview, but ultimately failed, either by Jesse's hand or by its sheer power. In the AWE DLC, we see the Dark Presence doing the same, trying to leech its way inside, perhaps as an effort to leave the Dark Place without Alan's help. Maybe Alan pulled it back in with his writing, since he can manipulate the Oceanview to an extent, having a room inside it (which I don't think Jesse has, correct me if I'm wrong). My theory is when it was pushed back, it tried to push back in stealthily, maybe manipulating Alan to write the Oceanview into his story, but he gets the name wrong. He creates a large hotel, not a safe place, but a hotbed for evil, a play being performed as a ritual. The Dark Presence twists what Alan knows about the real world, and this time it bit it in the ass.
I lean towards it being a shifting place (kinda like the Oldest House). My guess is that the Oceanview became a hotel in part because a motel doesn’t fit into NYC.
Thanks for the drop man. Happy Valentine's day.
When I saw that final video of Alice and the "Alice Wake took her life" I was almost crying and had to stop for a moment 💀🥹
Scratch went into Alan but the force of being summoned out of the dark place made it weak as soon as the clicker was near he was strong enough to take control
YOU NEED TO DO KOTOR
Love your content! Happy Valentine day ❤❤❤
I know this will seem odd but ever since I found you I can’t wait for your videos you make my day ❤
The output rate on some of these videos is simply amazing. The gaming wins team is strong
The new story points from NG+ should have been taken into account!
I was blown away when I learned Ilmo and Jakko were interpreted by the same person! Thanks. I guess I need to pay more attention to the credits!! 😂
To your point of Alan being constrained by his own rules:
I partially disagree. We’ve seen others be constrained by rules in the dark place and I think Tor Explains it in a profile clip.
The reason Saga can traverse into and out of the Dark Place without the esoteric“Rules of resonant Art” obstructions (granted the dark place is still EXTREMELY dangerous) is partially due to her bloodline.
A family of Doors (Allegedly). Granted my understanding of this leans on that theory being the truth, but I digress.
From an in-universe standpoint tho, I kinda fear for Saga. Whatever she got from both sides of her family would make her “Of Interest” to the FBC 😰
You should play soma it’s the only game to get me to question what is a living thing trust me just play it
Ahti puts on The Poet and the Muse for the same reason Alan needed to hear it in the first game. To let the player know that you need to find Cynthia Weaver.
BALDER?? No wonder the third rocker wasn't there! So many little insights 💚
great vid. please do Bioshock 2 and Infinite at some point.
In the WaW video, you said to recommend games similar to it in themes. Spec Ops: The Line is extremely good at the whole reality focus, its extremely deep
In reguards to Tom Zane being a poet or a filmaker its both. You can find posters for Nightless NIght which Tom refers to as his "masterpiece" on the poster the director is 'Thomas Seine'
the name Tom Zane is just an aglecized version because Sam Lake's own name is an anglecized version of Sami Antero Järvi. (Järvi) being the finnish word for lake.
i swear i played the original game a tiny bit but never beat it so i wasnt sure about this game. But once i started playing it i was hooked and i stopped playing any other game just for this. their music was soo good that i had trouble finding some then realized you get them eventually. But anyways ever since the Old Gods of Asgard music, ive played Herald of darkness and Dark Ocean Smmoning every single day at least a few times.
Tim Breaker. Huh, Tim E Breaker. Time Breaker!
Back to the beginning!
"Ahti has to be a water god"
You know what you're doing.
For the uninitiated: Ahti is the name of the old pagan Finnish god of water.
Hearing Estevez pronounced 'Eztayviz' is giving me an ulcer. 💀🤣
In AWE, the alert they receive that name-drops Estevez is dated four years in the future, which is why they're so confused by it at the time. It's highly unlikely that the Hiss are still around at this point in the timeline, cause that would mean that no one has been able to leave The Oldest House since 2019, and that would be hugely problematic for everyone involved. I think it's more likely that it's some new issue keeping the FBC occupied, maybe an event that will be talked about in Control 2.
My personal opinion is that a lot of people / agents died during the attack and it’s taking time to rebuild the organization that’s why estevez says resources at hq are thin.
Have you done an EGA quantum break?
would sooooo love to see that! QB has its flaws but I feel like it doesn’t deserve to be SO overlooked by the community because of it. the story and its role in the multiverse are so interesting in my opinion
@@aisenberg5407 those time powers were freakin sick
@@ABadassDragon yeah it would be amazing if we got a sequel with even more abilities like that. I also like to think that the mess of a timeline we’re dealing with in AW2 has to do with the time breaking in QB. I want as many connections as possible between these two games lol
I wonder if they know that there is more story in the NG+ of the game.
Dude you gotta do Gotham Knights next
Any chance we might get a bf3 gaming wins? Just replayed the campaign would love to see your review
Pleaseeee do Uncharted 4‼️🔥
Can you PLEASE do everything great about assassin's creed syndicate please
wait this is odd, did he not include the final draft into his review?
Can you cover days gone?
Dead rising series?
You should really do Max Payne 3
2nd video requesting Everything Great About Celeste.
I know and appreicate you've definitely had a larger work load recently but you may want to take this video down as there seemed to be a lot of mistakes with your voice cutting out and not matching up with the subtitles at all. I usually notice one or two mistakes in that department but there are A LOT in this video. You make really good videos and I feel the amount of problems in this one shouldn't taint what you do.
So yeah, I'd advise taking it down and proof watch it again.
Everything GREAT About Tears Of The Kingdom! When?
Regarding Saga's "morgue light" pun, dad jokes are gender neutral.
ah can someone explain to me if
(spolier)
Alan is dead or alive
The way I understand it, Alive. He is still stuck in the dark place but now is closer to escaping it.
The Final Draft (aka New Game Plus) answers this: Alan is alive, and has finally escaped the Dark Place.
:< D
I thought it was an interesting game but still pretty slow and boring. I didn’t bother playing again to get the second ending because I just didn’t feel like it was worth going through it again.
😂😂😂10:25 that explains why you wasted your time with spiderman 2.
I still wish Alan was the only playable character
Sam lake you hack
This game is 🚮 🤾🏾♂️🗑️
