The voice actor for Leon (don’t know his name, very sorry) deserves more recognition. The fact that he is the same voice for 2 is unbelievable, he sounds completely different, traumatised and hardened you can feel his experience and tiredness in perfect contrast to how green and naive he was at the start of Raccoon City
Nick Apostolides
I love how you say he deserves more recognition, yet you don’t know his name lmao
@@lewdshark6692 that’s why he deserves more recognition - so I can finally learn his name
Nicke Apostickles

Throughout the game, you can read notes about a young boy who is incredibly smart who is a big fan of Don Quixote, and his grandpa who raised him gets killed by a wolf. I always assumed that was a young Luis.
It is
The wolf didn’t kill him. It mauled and infected him. He died by fire burning his cabin before the “madness” got him. Give you three guesses what type of infection.

One thing I love is that if you have two golden eggs you can kill Ramon with them. One knocks him down to his final vulnerable state and the next one finishes him off.
I think one is enough since it takes 70% of his health. A well aimed magnum shot after the egg is enough to do the job. If it doesn’t, I think you can spare another magnum bullet or two.
I can relate to Ramon Salazar
Eggs = death
I wish I had known that after failing hardcore 3 times because he got insanely lucky that he managed to hit me with acid attacks that shouldn't have connected and then he combo'd me to death
I saved half my ammo by using one egg. That was suck a relief.
B-but.... the spinels!
I love how organic Leon and Ashley feel this time around, like when Leon helps Ashley and she helps him right back in her own ways, Like calling out enemies behind you or how she helped him get the flames out of his shirt after Mendez.
I watched my dad play re4 back in 2005 when i was 7 and now in 2023 he watched me play it and then i watched him again this game and franchise is such a big part of my life and my relationship with my dad
hey same here! watching him play as a kid were some of my earliest memories of being alive (he almost named me after leon even) now here i am playing the remake with him watching me. its a sweet full circle 🎉
Now you can follow in his footsteps... good look on professional my friend
aw 😊
That's just fucking great to read man.
that was cute
Leon clearing the chamber was because the gun jammed, not because it was empty. That's why a bullet comes out when he pulls the rail back. Also Leon still had the hasta luego line in the OG
31:56 that detail is insane because it's not just luck but it makes sense because Ashley is not used with guns resulting the gun getting wrist lock resulting the bullet stuck in the pipe & that's why the gun was busted there really a mind blowing details. One of the best gun details I've ever seen in a video game.
Gun nuts like us noticed it on the first playthough. How the slide was slightly ajar and not flush with the compensator
@@Delta285 which is exactly why i said it's one of the best gun details in the video game I've ever seen after RDR2.
Shoot, man. I thought she just ran out of ammo somehow.
@@harryguidotti3815 me too then i found out about it
Some gun nerd in Capcom is dedicated enough to give a lot of details surrounding the firearms and I respect that
I need to point this out: During the game the files tell us that Luis likes The book Don Quijote de la mancha wich is a novel about a men searching for his missing señorita Dulcinea, Don Quijote is delusional and thinks that windmills are "Giants" and i find very fun that right before the end of our Don Quijote he actually got to slay a Giant with his trusty partner Sancho Panza
Something that was EXTREMELY vital for them to change is when Leon is captured the first time: in the original, you keep all of your gear, which doesn't make ANY sense. But now, they fixed that, not only for logical plot reasons, but for a subtle way to introduce the stealth mode for those who didn't find out before. CHEF'S KISS!!
Dear Capcom,
This is how you remake a game! Instant classic.
4:42 Also the significance of his codename being 'Condor' (pulled from google about the Condor) "It was a revered creature, a master of the spirit, who gave power to humans for a variety of world renewal and cosmic purposes. It was associated with death and mourning as well as rebirth and renewal". Considering the game has a subtle subtext about people and 'changing' as well as los illuminados constantly going on about 'rebirth' it's some pretty coherent theme-ing for RE game..................Also i have NO idea if this is a reason but in most 'bird themed' superhero groups in Japan (there are a lot) The condor was always the cool/badass loner......and also the Condor often has a set of feathers that look like a fur collar like leon on with his coat......
16:16 - Right after Luis says "It's game time", i love how the music starts, freaking EPIC.
I loved the Ashley section, like the house beneviento section in RE Village it takes away your weapons and focuses on horror and suspense.
I did all the way back in total darkness by memory of this level before I realized the elevator was just next to the hallway 🙄
I love that brief moment after Ashley runs away from him. It's like you can see in that quick pause him reevaluating his choices up to this point before resiging himself for the next dozen hours of gameplay.
I love how it's like, _Okay, just go in, get the girl, and get--Aaaaand, there she goes._
3:55 - I’m so glad to see someone else finally comment on this. Even without a headset, just regular earbud headphones, I had to genuinely pause the game in panic because I thought my dad was yelling in pain from the other room. It even got me twice with the rushing footsteps. Incredibly sound quality.
- Dad, are you hurt ?
- TF is this kid’s problem ??
Absolutely loved this game, the resident evil franchise was always special to me, I have played almost all of the games and I can’t wait for the fifth remake, Wesker is going to be so bad ass
and with the more realistic/grounded direction they're taking with the remakes, it feels like they're getting a second chance to fix the mistakes of the prior entries, i cant wait until they're all absolute bangers from 1 to 8
Complete Global Saturation.
they do start off as pals but you can tell by the end that her crush is still there her starting to like him and everything just feels alot more smooth now and so does him turning her down it all feels more human
17:34 - That scene between Luis and Ada is in the original, but is part of Ada's Campign, "Separate Ways".
idk, i definitely think that Leon and Ashley arent as flirty with each other, but their friendship/relationship is actually deeper. Not only has Ashley improved as a character, but you can just see the general care they have for each other....idk why i ship them so much in this remake😭💕
You ship them because you know they'd both try to make it work, and probably succeed.
Because you're a woman.
Everything great about Resident Evil 4 Remake: it exists.
What I love the most about this game is that even though I never played the original, it still makes me feel nostalgic for it. Like, it's so 2000's coded while also clearly being a new age game, and I love how they nailed that. Everything about this is so video game and I'm so obsessed with it
I don't know but that "We get to play as Ashley?" is a meme in Brazil about a guy faking his nostalgia and all, but playing as Ashley is even in OG RE4, so your surprise reminded me of the meme.
So something cool is that their is a charm for the stiker that gives a 8% movement speed boost which is a refrence to the ditman glitch from the original and that shows you how much passion they had for this
Re4 remake is just perfect.
The only thing that was missing was the U3
@@erwinzozo791 When will people finally stop crying over a boring trash filler boss, that was cut?
@@arcuz7862 plus it will come back at separate ways dlc so why people are still crying about it

It’s very good but a remake shouldn’t remove any content
27:58 that's not a mario reference, he just says "Oye" which is like "hey" in spanish, basically he's calling him to help him
Best thing for me in terms of plot is how Ashley ACTUALY helps, she is NOT a damsel in distress most of the time.
As for tips? get the Bolt Thrower as soon as you can, i can not tell you how those re-useable bolts and the stealth nature of it helped me, its pretty good early on and saves you ammo for the Red 9 you can find for free, which is a very powerful weapon for pistol.
Damn it's such a nice detail that you actually get to use krauser's knife this time, and it's a straight upgrade from Marvin's too, awesome
A straight upgrade in terms of power, yes. It’s max durability is actually lower than the combat knife from Marvin’s when fully upgraded. With the exclusive upgrade that makes it 1.5x faster, I find it’s more useful utility-wise by stunning enemies/parries as opposed to Krauser’s higher damage.
Its also larger than the combat knife
With visuals like these, I feel like we've finally made it out of the uncanny valley.
Digital Foundry says otherwise
Yeah but this is Capcom, they've always been years ahead of the current average.
This is also their inhouse engine, which is just... Gorgeous.
I really think what they were doing with RE8/Village was kinda testing the waters for how well this remake would go down. Like is said in the video, you've got the village, you've got a castle, you've got an industrial area, all in some remote area in Europe, and all the enemies are infected/infested with some sort of bio-weapon. Pretty much the only difference setting-wise is the country. In terms of story and characters, you've got a guy who is determined to save or rescue someone, and even has cheesy one-liners. Village really was just a first person 4, and I'm so glad that Village was so well received for them to release this and polish it up to the incredible mirror shine this new "gold-standard for remakes" has.
homie missed my fav line from the game that made it GOTY for me, after the first el gigante fight you can see the dog laying on a rock and if you walk up, the dog barks and leon says something to the extent of "thanks buddy" 10/10 as usual Gaming Wins keep it up!
i think endlessly about Ashley being "Baby Eagle" because in the real world, the specific nicknames for the President and the Presidential family are chosen specifically for the person, and are usually inspired by their personality. which means that the Secret Service looked at Ashley and went "oh yah, she's gonna be Baby Eagle"
You'll be glad to know there is actually a gimic for Ramon if you get the golden egg from his treasurey and hit him with it it does 70% damage to him
Hell of an allergy.
27:58 "Oye" in Spanish means "listen". said in the way Luis says it here basically means "Hey, over here!". The remake also made the Spanish more "natural" than the original in my opinion
Such a phenomenal game so it's gonna be great to hear every little they've done right.
One of the best experiences I have ever had.
A minor correction but you don't fight El Gigante the first time you enter the quarry in the original. In both OG & REmake you always fight him when you're coming back through the quarry with the church key after you fight Del Lago.
105 : you missed that Leon acknowledges the Doggo after the victory if you walk close to him up on his ledge.
Here’s a win from me: Leon’s workout routine
2 things I noticed you got wrong as a millennial who played the original an incalculable number of times:
1) You do go through the quarry where you fight the el gigante without fighting him in the original, they even included the crows. The only new things there are the wolves, the side quest, and the cabins being closed up.
2)The shooting gallery is not new, just reworked to fit with the mechanical changes.
16:30 i died at this level ATLEAST 20 times but instead of getting frustrated i just really loved the gameplay and it was so fun finding different methods each time
12:38 you don’t actually fight El Gigante the first time through this area in the original either, the fight happens on the way back to the church after Del Lago
leon really was adorable in re2. poor baby got traumatized
They really nailed it and I still quite can't believe it
I feel like Ashely's section is a throw back to Nancy Drew. We had an old clock, a secret Staircase, and a Hidden Attic all close to each other (and I think the cover of one of the books had a knight) and she said "It's locked" just like the Her interactive games.
that being said, because those are all bog standard spooky stuff, (and why would Capcom play the Nancy Drew games?) I can't say it for certain either.
Those games were awesome and supringly dark at times.
When you talked abt the quarry and el gigante the remake is actually the same you go through the quarry first and when you come back during the nighttime and raining is when you fight El gigante and this is important bc Del Lago is the first major boss fight you have to fight in both original and remake
16:26 This section in second round cabin fight was more intense with addition of villagers' chanting
Luis never called himself the squire, he called Leon it
28:40 Lighting a smoke for someone who is at death’s door is one of the ultimate signs of respect. I remember from The Magnificent Seven 2016 remake that Chris Pratt just made a suicide charge to the Gatling gun but got stopped short. He knew he was done so he tried to light a smoke, but couldn’t, so one of the bad guys lit it for him. Respect.
Okay, thank you so much for putting that Tom Segura clip of him saying “Attaché”. When I heard it, I turned into a telescope. My jeans are so high and tight right now. Keep featherin’ it, brother.
Really, the audio does sound superb. You don’t realize how important something like that is until you play a game where the audio is just … muah
I’m not even a big fan of the franchise, but enjoyed the hell out of this one.
I agree with the UI clicking sound being a win, since I spent a good long while just scrolling through COD: Black Ops 2's menus just to hear the little hum each cursor movement does.
Woupd love you see a gamingwins of the OG RE4
I think this is the fastest I've seen you put out a new video for a game that literally just came out
Good on you man
It really is an action/adventure game with some horror elements. One liners, minecart sections, but enough simple but effective motivation to choke you up.
70 year-old male here. I found NOTHING wrong with the remake. I finally beat it--on the EASY part. Beginning the standard play. I could play the darn thing all day long! Capcom knocked it out of the park with this one. The knife fight with Krauser: INSANE! The entire island--unbelievable! So much better than that "thing" known as RE 3 remake.
Currently at my uncles house watching him play the game with infinite ammo weapons. lol
27:58 i reckon he said "oye" as in "hey" in Spanish to get Leon's attention
honestly, I love your content. I love listening to your voice and watching my favorite games being reviewed and commentated. Whenever i do my homework, listening to your content helps me focus :D
30:10 You can actually kill Salazar by throwing golden eggs at him.
I am just in loooove with Leon.
Hes just above Ada on my fav. RESI Character list
Yeah Leon's haircut is amazing he looks gorgeous
29:21 earlier leon discovers a journal entry from mendez in the village chief's house's attic which describes luis as a young boy who is obsessed with stories of don quixote (luis grew up in the village by the lake with his grandfather, mendez has their house burned down after the grandfather gets bitten by a plaga infected wolf. luis leaves the village gets his biology degree and goes onto to work for umbrella, later working on the team that develops nemesis)
BRO, I was so glad when I heard you mention making a Dead Space remake video!
Ever since I’ve watched let’s plays of it (no PS5 yet), I’ve fallen in love with the franchise! Watching your videos about games I love is always a treat so I CANNOT WAIT for that one!😁
I love your content man you just bring alot of positivity
THANK YOU! The first time I saw Verdugo I screamed "IS THAT A FUCKING XENOMORPH?!"
Thanks For making this! Love this series and your videos! ❤❤🎉🎉
Ashley is Baby Eagle bc POTUS is Eagle 1 actually. the call signs were a great touch, except when they didn't use them. you should never ever EVER use names over a radio. Leon and Hunnigan would know better.....commo NCO's crying out in rage everytime we see that.
31:50 actually its not that the gun is empty, its that the first shot fired had a stove pipe or some other malfunction caused by Ashley "limp wristing" the pistol. A lot of handguns, most notably Glocks, if you dont have the wrist strength to actually hold the gun firm or lack the gun knowledge to do so can cause malfunctions. Something to do with there not being enough inertia in the slide to fully extract the spent casing.
Oooooh I'm hyped for this one I've already 100% the game it's so damn good I can't wait for separate ways
31:54 A couple people have pointed this out, but I'm pedantic about pedantry. A shell (NOT the bullet) got stuck, that's why Ashley couldn't fire, and why Leon clears the pistol and checks the chamber after getting it back. Semiautomatic pistols rely on recoil to push the slide back and eject the shell after a bullet is fired. Ashley not holding the gun firmly (limp wristing) because she was fighting mind control and not familiar with firearms led to what's called a stovepipe, with the shell stuck sideways in the chamber and preventing another cartridge from loading (cartridge =shell+bullet, a shell holds gunpowder and gets left in the chamber when a bullet is fired).
It's a fairly common error, proper grip is important and even professionals get stovepiped occasionally depending on conditions. It's cool that they used a completely reasonable and justifiable issue to set up the scenario, rather than "gun jammed or was out of bullets, I dunno" shoulder shrugging.
I love this game so much playing and re-playing it over and over again is just not enough... I need it in my ass
bro is down bad
Wat
... Flattering, but Leon's a one-_lady_ type of guy.
As a win, I'd add Sadler's voice coming through the dual shock speaker. Freaked me the heck out first time. Perfect way of introducing a cult leader
Leon is basically Ada’s lost puppy. He likes her, but I feel like Ada doesn’t see him in the same way.
That's why I ship Leon with Ashley. Either that or Claire. I mean if I was him, I'd rather have someone reliable and who doesn't screw around with me.
@@blaa6 Yes, this. I hear so many sad stories about relationships failing and people despairing of it, but it's almost always because people choose for hotness first, not respect and honesty and shared values. Ada may be a super-cool and omg-hawt character, but she's way toxic.
And I'm glad Leon refuses to let her play him anymore.
7:33 LMAO that is the OG font of Resident Evil especially the first game in 1996.
Suzi stated the 3 diff colored flames in this game. Red which awakens their Plaga, Blue freezes them, and Purple that the merchant uses. Suggesting that it's the reason he can travel around the whole place safe, he also keeps a lantern with blue flame in it.
this has become my new favourite game
It sucks that the original VA for Ada couldn't return, I don't think the new one deserves death threats for this performance, but it wasn't all that good
2:17 Rule #3.) NEVER ever ever under any circumstances say “I’ll be right back”, cause you won’t be back.
"Hey, I'm going to grab a beer. Do you want one?"
"Yeah, sure, man."
"I'LL Be RigHt BACK!!"
I actually would’ve loved to see the El Gigantes using the giant pickaxe.
You didn't give a "win" to Ada, during the first encounter with Leon, looking quietly at him like, "That man's respect is worth having...and I threw it away."
Overall, I like Leon being the "ray of hope" figure in this story: the hero who doesn't just do good, but inspires others to grow and become heroic themselves. He gives Ashley courage, he helps Luis become that hero he dreamed to be, he shows Krauser that power isn't everything, and he inspires Ada to inspect her employer's motives and heed her conscience. Even the Merchant gets to strike a blow for justice through helping him.
I'm a sucker for that kind of story, not gonna lie.
I really like how the accents are more in line with Spain but I sort of prefer the more Mexican sounding accents in the og, especially for salazar
Resident Evil 4 Remake is the greatest “How I met your mother” story ever told 😂
Ironic that he says there's no gimmick to bosses... as he's fighting the one boss who can be killed by eggs
You could have won every outfit and how some do change animations, like Ashley in a full suit of armor being too heavy so every time Leaon catches her, he holds his back in pain due to the weight
Or when Leon/Ashley wear sunglasses, they don't get blinded by the flashbangs.
@@Taccou the fact cosmetics affect gameplay in fun ways is amazing
@@Taccou that sunglasses fact saved my runs a few times.
IM SO READY TO WATCH THIS OVER AND OVER
Oh my god, I love the tom segura "attache" I thought I was the only to think that every time I saw the attache.
I've been looking forward to this.
6:00 you can ring the bell yourself by shooting it
I have to disagree with your “he can’t help but love her” line in the boat in the remake. Maybe there’s some subtext I missed but Leon seems more impatient and short with Ada’s antics in the remake. Like when he tells her “I think we both know that this is where we go our separate ways” it almost sounds like he’s telling her to fuck off in a more polite way. I honestly think that Capcom is setting up Ada being the pursuer in their cat and mouse game instead of the other way around like in the original
Exactly my thoughts, remake Leon doesn’t put up with Ada’s bs and so he didn’t say that line like in the OG. “She’s a part of me that won’t let go” or something like that.
Why i do like shipping Leon and ada , it just doesn't make sense
Ada only appears in Leon's life when she's working or when there is an important mission going on and is absent in Leon's life for years
Also for all he knows, ada is shady as fuck lol , so realistically Leon would get together with someone who's not related with his profesion
1:36 Talking about waifu Ashley, her Japanese voice actress (in case if you don't know) also voices most of well known waifus like Tsukasa and the most well-known waifu Nezuko
You deserve so much views,
You do such a good job and saying why the games deserve the wins while remaining bias
8:35 I said the same thing. The cop in him absolutely did *_not_* die that day in Raccoon City.
Ramon does have a gimmick, which is a speedrun tactic
Throw a golden egg at him to drain 75-80% health instantly.
On harder difficulties, 2 golden eggs to ramon's head kill him (since he hates eggs so much it kills him)
Can’t forget the music that plays in the village while your throwing hands with ganados
around the 24 minute mark, the Deer head mantle kinda reminded me of the RE 4 Prototypes that had halucinations like the deer head mantle i mentioned earlier. like that little callback.
Fun thing I only noticed on my second playthrough, when ashley is forced to shoot at Leon, it's not that he's empty, you can see a bullet jammed in the slide. (I don't know if that's the correct term)
31:06 no words needed😂😂💯💯
About DAMN time!
When Ashley goes to shoot Leon with the gun Robert Kendo made for him, it isn't empty. If you watch Leon takes the magazine out and it's still loaded but there's a case stuck in the slide. The Silver Ghost jammed so it wouldn't end the life it was made to save.
As someone commented, Ashley isn't used to guns and her poor grip/wrist technique caused it to jam. Also, a gun nut would notice that the slide is afar from the compensator in that scene which also leads to the Silver Ghost jamming
These little details is what makes RE4R great.
GamingWins, you genius! I knew you would use Gipsy Dangers horn from Pacific Rim for the El Gigante fight😂
