the guitar cries and smiles in the same time.. it makes me sad for missing out this kind of sound almost my whole life and happy to know, there is someone that can breathe in a soul into a guitar, into a man, a woman.. love you, buckethead for bringing the angelic into music...
Here are two things I know...Buckethead is amazing, and we're not worthy. It's not a question of who is better, Buckethead or whomever, he is magical and we're lucky to live in a time and place where we can hear him play his art \m/
My biggest flex today is that I learned this song on guitar by memory. UA-cam wasn't a thing at that time. I spent weeks, if not months learning this.. To this day, the opening (2 minutes) is part of my warm up.
I"m on my fiance's youtube account, after polluting it with my music... I decided I'd listen to buckethead to redeem myself. :) Bless me oh BH for I have sinned. By the way I love this guy, The best guitarist I have heard ever.
This song is from Concierto de Aranjuez, by Joaquin Rodrigo. There is a Paco De Lucia full orchestral interpretation on youtube. The reason Buckethead called it Sketches of Spain is because Concierto de Aranjuez was adapted for and played by Miles Davis, on his album named Sketches of Spain. Be sure to check out Concierto de Aranjuez with Paco De Lucia and Sketches of Spain with Miles Davis.
Plei ツ john petrucci is a great player, but he's pretty one demential. He can shred and that's pretty much it. Buckethead can do everything, and is a much more creative player than Petrucci
Buckethead's les paul is a standard 22 fret les paul. Modified with Dimarzio pickups and a killswitch. He also moved his pickup selecter down under his killswitch
one of the best from bucket! just shows how much emotion and feel he puts into his songs! so many diff styles he can play and master but it seems like he brings out something new in every style that nobody eles can do! (main reason i listen to him)
He is just so fucking unbelievable talented.... I was in the mood for some miles..... saw bucket head did a version of Sketches of Spain..... and he just did it so much justice I think Miles is Smiling just to hear it played with such respect.
Dedicating this song to all my friends who shared a deep bodning with me at some point in my life and are not in touch with me anymore. I'm very thankful for the friendship we shared \m/
This part of Rodrigo's Concierto is sad, very sad,his wife was in the finish line between live and dead because it had born a baby dead,In this movement he said to god that please, don't leave her die...For this reason, you can listen a sad melody, later a optimistic melody and finally the ascension of the baby to the heaven. I love this song,I think is a good tribute, greetings from Spain.
a great interpretation of rodrigo's original work. I could listen to this back to back with Miles Davis' timeless version for hours - it's that good! I think I'll tag both on the ipod so they always play back to back.
This is got best advise on youtube thanks. Music should be about enjoyment and sometimes someone comes along with music that will put that feeling in you that cannot be described.
He really didn't have this much emotion in his electric playing until after being in GnR and learning Slash's solos. There is a clear difference in his live show before and after.
@@DrMooseknuckle0 LOL not a chance. He wrote I love my parents in 1994. And many others. You're clueless. GNR was 2001. Try again. He released this in 2002. Likely written before or during GNR. But as I said, he released MANY emotional songs before he was ever in GNR. Try learning some actual facts instead of just making stuff up. What, about the entire album Colma? Or Electric Tears? Or plenty of others? All written and published long before GNR. Like I said, you're full of crap.
i kinda hate it when ppl say other guitarists name in comments this is a buckethead vid and should only have comments to buckethead and this is what i think. I think buckethead is the greatest guitarist ever and puts more soul into his work then anyone else i've heard other guitarists but none apeal more to me then buckethead. Buckethead FTW!!!!
It's amazing how Joaquin Rodrigo's Adagio has inspired so many wonderful musicians. Buckethead does "Sketches of Spain", Chick Corea writes "Spain". Good stuff man, good stuff.
@@gustavoq5813 No. Miles recorded it with Gil Evans but it was written by Joaquin Rodrigo. It was written after his wife had a miscarriage/premature birth that almost killed her as well. This composition is meant to dig deep into one's soul. Buckethead more than does it justice.
Oh absolutely, I didn't mean to imply that he wasn't. Musicians give and take from each other constantly; it's how we grow. Style, technique, tone, etc.; all of these things musicians copy from other musicians they enjoy and revere. A truly great musician combines the knowledge and skills of those who have come before, and employs them in their own way while adding a few tricks of their own.
no shit '', wow'', I'm gonna check it out , I'm from Cleveland, ohio and If I like a band or musician , I get into them and I also a musician so I get into all phases if I like, thanks john.
This is grandiose. On top of that I can't stop picturing Slash creating this... Reminds me a lot of the ending of Double Talking Jive! Of course it would have been Slash on his best days because this is wayyyyy more precise and intense. In some ways with this song both guitar players finally meet each other...
@zeppelin25101980- Dawn Appears. That can have a really strong effect on a person. I don't know whether to be happy or sad. I listened to it when I watched the sunrise. It's an experience I'll never forget.
this was absolutely awesome. Sometimes i read the comments, and it really amuses me, how a lot of you get in a fight over who is better. It is kind of futile and juvenile if you all could realize that for example slash should never be compared to buckethead, different style, different sound, etc.. For example i am pretty sure, that even if you know how to play one lousy riff, and you play it over and over, you will always be THE BEST guitarist in the World for your mother... see
wow nice rendition. i know the original piece really well and didn't know what to expect cause i've never heard buckethead before. he basically took the guts of the guitar solos and english horn solo and did a little improv around that too. i only wish he put in the awesome cadenza!! that would have made it much much more powerful, but this version is nice too. =]
Until someone has been to a couple of his performances they have no idea what he is capable of on many stringed instruments. He is truly a virtuoso. i have personally counted the frets on his les paul, it is 22. If it was a 24 fret les paul than the pickups would be closer together, but they aren't.
@zmanofwar3 It's cool that BH is trying to give this classical piece more exposition, but being honest, there was no point into changing the name of the piece. He isn't playing an original composition based on the melody of Rodrigo's Adagio, he's playing the Adagio itself, note by note, although just an excerpt of it.
This song will be played at my funeral. All of the emotions of life are in this song. Love, empathy, sadness, and forgiveness.
I hope you are still alive.
Nobody's been able to move me like this since Pink Floyd, and this is just one man! Buckethead is one of the only musicians who I can call a genius.

Si lo es ...

I weep when I listen to this song. This guitarist plays to my VERY soul.

to dislike this is to dislike beauty in its purest form
how much pain and sadness is buried in this song.
How can you dislike this?? It's so good and it's like telling a story but only with the guitar. Buckethead Is the Man!!

in your opinion
Khasab This song is completely based on concierto de aranjuez no doubt

It is Buckethead's take on the Miles Davis version of the tune from his beautiful Sketches of Spain' album.
truly amazing, so spanish influenced, great! He nailed that spanish feel omg
God bless you Mr. Carroll
one of my favorites. beautiful and nostalgic!!
Concierto de Aranjuez! Gracias por esta versión ❤
Some beautiful notes, doesn't over-work the piece.
I like his restraint, this makes the music so powerful.

John Petrucci

Miles covered it too, It was written in 1939 by Joaquin Rodrido for Classical guitar and an Orchestra.
So moving.........i can't see the screen for tears......
this is a really really old Spanish song and its awesome the way he made it his own with the electric guitar
