I come here to listen to this every couple weeks or so, get super inspired to play, go grab my guitar, practice with the dream of someday being able to play it.
This solo is just perfect in my eyes a guitarist for almost 20 years. The dynamic build up and emotion conveyed is second to none. Then he does killing in the name of lick on the octave pedal which is just pure fun. He then shreds for only 6 seconds just to let you know he is the master. Very tasteful and masterful solo.
There's a radio interview of him and he talks in his normal voice and he really talks about a lot. He said he has heart problems and how he wants to open an amusement park for people to go to enjoy like they did his music and he talked about his parents and how his mothers' death afftected him a lot. I forgot who conducted it, but he's a really, really pure hearted person. Pray for that man
He's a very pure hearted person. The soul-stirring beauty in his music is a true reflection of the beautiful human being that created it. His music communicates something from one soul to another....it's true, pure, real. I felt it had to come from a pure hearted person, and the interview confirmed it 100%.
@@quantumcrash7266 Truly one of a kind. And to keep his anonymity and make music with no profit involved in it all is something to respect. Especially in regards to his skills when he plays. He plays his heart out and its felt (and the chicken army from all them KFC buckets lol) What a time to be alive to hear heartfelt music like this 🖤🤘
I listen/watch to his man every day now. To me, he comes a cross like a horribly misunderstood phantom, who's only way to show emotion is through his hands from which it pours like a fountain roaring down a mountain.
the crowd has no clue how epic that solo was/is one of the best of all time its everything a solo should be, melodic, coherent and climatic! totally expressive and fits the song perfectly
Not only he created hundreds of great songs, but also each live version of them has something unique, a different touch. The big bucket is a creative genius like no other.
One guitar. One bass. One drummer. Simplicity at it finest. Goes to show how beautiful straightforward bass-line's and drums can be when combined with superior guitar writing.
Joe Casson that is the beauty of music brotherman every one can interpret it differently and it can also bring different feelings to all, just my humble opinion
I remember a long time ago a youtuber talked about buckethead and I was really into music but I never looked him up. A few years later I looked him up at night while I was in my bed and clicked on this song. I must have listened to it about 20 times before I went to sleep. In my opinion, buckethead outshines every guitar player I have ever heard of.
I only discovered Buckethead 3 days ago.....I got my guitar today. I might never ever even approach 1/100th of his level but it's beautiful and I'm going to try
Same bro. I mean, not the next day, but I watched the Soothsayer at the Gothic Theatre and just thought, "I want to play guitar, I want to create those beautiful, hair-raising melodies with my own hands." I'd been attracted to playing guitar after getting into King Crimson and Robert Fripp's crazy, eclectic style but it didn't make me want to learn guitar then and there, because it while it was cool, it didn't have that raw emotion.
I saw this video 8 years ago and it was the first time I had ever heard of Buckethead, this video changed my life man, since I saw this, ive not found a musician I admire more.
This has to be one of the most beautiful pieces I've ever heard in my life. It is so simple, yet so technical but without loosing the "feel". When he decides to let his finger go, the feeling does not go away. It is one of the few guitar players out there who can play like that.
I'm watchin Southpark ( Guitar hero episode ) and they mention "Buckethead " , I thought it was a joke , then I come here and find out this guy is not only real, but he's right up there with Eric Johnson , Steven Via & Joe Satriani...how cool is that.
He is truly one of the greatest musicians of all time. Some would even say that he’s the goat of guitar. He would disagree and say it’s Shawn Lane. What an amazing man (alien, robot ?? 😎)
I never had a close relationship with my brother. At one of our few high points, we were in a car, smoking weed, listening to The Who - Behind Blue Eyes. He told me "Play this song at my funeral". I did.
Was, is, and always will be my favorite musical performance of all time. I watched this 14 years ago, loved every second, and still do. Thanks Buckethead
I'm echoing many comments here....this was the very first exposure to Bucket 12 years ago. I came back from a party, was mildly buzzed. My wife went to bed, and I wasn't ready to sleep so I did what I often do, put some headphones on, and did the random music search. Found this youtube by accident. The song literally gave me chicken skin 10 seconds in, I could almost not believe it was real. I must have played it 30 times straight through. "Came to" with my wife snapping her fingers in front of my face....like WTF ;) Still not tired of it. I think it's the best version of Whitewash ever (the second being the one with the Deli Creeps) and easily one of the top 5 of all. Just so pure. Something about the grainy video and the shaky camera makes it even better.
In the mid "80's I saw an article about Buckethead in 'Guitar Player' magazine in the 'upcoming talent' section. I didn't know it was him ( I couldn't have at the time as he wasn't known as Buckethead then ), he was some young guy named Brian Carroll. Almost 30 years later I saw the same column on the internet after searching for 'Buckethead without mask'.
Every note was the perfect note at the time for the entire length of the song. He made his guitar sing each note too. Not a single note was off-putting. Perfection.
My father showed me this exact video many times when I was young. If I played this for him now, he'd still think it was the coolest guitar video in the world. I'm so glad that it's still up on UA-cam. Thank you for having it here.
He's totally feeling this performance..(3:53) is proof..watch his head slowly rocking side to side..He's in the moment..I know because I've done same thing..this is best video of him..and he's projecting it outward..music truly is "in' the soul..people call him BUCKETHEAD!!!
I remember stumbling across this video back in 2007 when I was 11 years old, the first few seconds had an eerie but calming vibe to it. 24 years old now and still enjoying every second of his playing. One of my favorite performances by him.
I contributed with 1000 views. First Buckethead song I ever heard, I remember listening to it over and over for 2 hours straight, completely blown away.
I've been listening to a lot of Guitar "Gods" lately, such as Malmsteen, Vai, Satriani, etc. and thus far Buckethead is emerging as my favorite by quite a bit. I've known of him for a long time since he played in Guns N Roses for a while but I've never really checked out his solo stuff. His style is really unique. He plays with both emotion and ingenuity.
I remember discovering this very vid over 10 years ago and I was hooked. Even today it is still amazing and one of my favourites. Timeless classic. Absolutely mesmerising.
I feel; very fortunate to have followed Buckethead from damn near day one LOL, He is the most prolific, talented, and creative guitarist of our generation.
This song til this day is one of my favorites ever. First bucket head song I discovered as well. The live version is so much better than the studio version
Truly one of the greatest guitar performances of all time. There are so many deep levels to each sequence in this guitar play, with each segment telling its own story. Just remarkable. Not many will appreciate this, but those that do, they know!
Man, this is a trip...I remember discovering this video before it had even a million views...I can't believe its up past 6 million. Long live the head of bucket...BUCKETHEAD.
Yeah I know I saw him in San Fran and was a little sad he did not play it but he did a reply nice new version of dawn appears which I thought made up for it but began so many songs to choose from I bet he lost track of this one haha
That part makes my neck hair tingle.. and the intro verses. Edit*- Second time I watched this performance was on liberty caps.. it was amazing, because his guitar seemed to be more in the centre and I could follow his every finger movement
Oh my God! I define this song as a fucking masterpiece!! I love it! This is an example how a song can arouse feelings without words. I'm listenin' it repeatedly!!!
This was my first exposure,to this incredible musician. I absolutely was, still am emotionally charged every time. Killer freakin ear. BH is so tuned in ,got his ear n finger on the pulse of life. He is absolutely loved. That's all that matters to us fans. Thank you Buckethead!
That expressionless mask hides what must be some truly emotional faces going on. Every time I watch this video, I can't help but be moved by the emotion and phrasing in his playing. It's almost otherworldly. This was the first video I ever saw of Buckethead and I've been a fan ever since. Brilliant guitar player.

Tried listening to other versions of this, other performances etc. Nothing beats this performance. It's just beautiful. Since 6th grade this has blown me away every time I hear it
This truly never gets old. Please never take this down. This is one of the main videos that introduced me to BH. Thank you for that.
It's been up 10 years at this stage. If he was gonna take it down; I think he'd have done it already.

Hopefully
Amen to that, brother. Same story here!

So well said Daniel Tyler.
this comment must be the headliner on buckethead`s wiki
the crowd has no clue how epic that solo was/is one of the best of all time its everything a solo should be, melodic, coherent and climatic! totally expressive and fits the song perfectly
Shit solo
Malc180s are you def?
Absolutely. The solo is a real statement.
you're simply delusional
The crowd doesn't know? You know, from watching a youtube video, but the people who were actually there don't know? How's that?

Never looked back 🇦🇺
2006? The Best vídeo on UA-cam in that time
20y since I could play to wild amounts of coincidence
Absolutely amazing. When he kicks in with the shred lead.....
Still my favorite solo of all time. Every note is heart-felt and exactly where it needs to be. Not a single one too many. True perfection.
The song is "Whitewash" incase anyone is wondering
Thank you
Didn't you mean 'in case'?

Likely my favorite video in all of UA-cam. Please never ever ever remove this. It is truly something special.
The whole song is incredible, but from 2:45 onwards it's godly.
Yup. I remember watching this in my early 20s. Now I'm almost 40, this is the video that introduced me to Buck. My how does the time fly.
