So true. There's a quote of naval that says, "I would rather read the best 100 books over and over again until I absorb them rather than read all the books". I am currently reading sapiens and it is taking me so long because it is a heavy book to understand.
I feel rather than just reading, we can stop in between and marvel at the art flowed overthe paper with the ink. There are writers who thorough just simple words make you re-read the same text cause it's so beautiful piece of literature and it's not only about fiction books. Some non-fiction books also are just treat to read slowly.
Completed 48 in a year but that was because I love reading. Didn't do it to achieve a certain number. Speaking of Fiction, if you read works of Ayn Rand, Gunther Grass, Kurt Vonnegut etc there's so much you get to learn on things like Language, History, Economics, Philosophy etc.
A quick advice: try to understand each sentence to build interest . If you dont understand a word don’t move forward until you have got familiar with it.
One of thing quoted by Seneca in his letters is to linger between limited number of master thinker & digest their work ! We should start with what we love to read and eventually we will start loving to read.
I started with reading manga, I read about 5 hours of manga per day for about 2 years but the things is I don't like other kind of books so this concept won't for everyone.
the thing is, i find books engrossing enough to die reading them. but, no matter what, i keep procrastinating. i am a hoarder of books. i love collecting them, i will take one out when i feel like its high time i read. it gets me the rush, i keep it aside after few chapters, bam, never pick up again. i love reading books, its just that my love for collecting them is more.
when i feel like im not interested in a book and about to stop continuing it, i think/fear of if i left any important piece of knowledge that would be loss for me and i endup reading whole book without intrest.
Read what the fuck you want..no matter what you like reading..you're still an avid reader..you don't need to devour piles of books for ostentation but bcz you like doing it!
1 good book is enough to turn around your life. There is this new toxic Reading thing going on in the internet these days. It's like the more number of books you read, the greater the achievement.

It's quite an insightful book. Definitely worth a slow read
It's not about how many books you have red it's about what you have learnt from them and applied in your life 👍
*read, pronunciation is 'R-E-D' but spelling is READ
