I've used Vaseline as eye cream for over 25 years! I hardly have any crows feet and no visible wrinkles. When people remark on how youthful the area around my eyes look and want to know what eye cream I use they are always amazed and a little disappointed when I say I only use Vaseline! They assume I've been using a high prize eye cream! I love my Vaseline and will continue to use it for years!
I love Vaseline and will be using it as an eye cream now 💁🏾♀️
Love that idea!
Yes me too, but I apply it about 20 minutes after my eye cream
I once asked dr dray about this and she said that vaseline couldn't prevent wrinkles. It's a myth. Vaseline is just a moisturizer.
@@hulyalala946 moisturizing helps keep your skin barrier healthy which slightly helps wrinkles long term
She said “comment below if you use Vaseline-“ girl I do whatever you tell me to do so I do now😂😂

“Vaseline doesn’t clog pores and is more than safe to be used on the face!” the best news I’ve heard today!
Same tho

It gave me lots of milia >>
Me too!!
@@odapty yeah it's no good for acne prone skin lol not every night at least
I use it religiously every night around my eyes, nose and mouth. It keep my skin from drying out. It's NOT a substitute for moisturizer, just an extra protective layer at night.
do you use both moisturizer and vaseline? like moisturizer first and then vaseline?
@@amanda.gonz1244 I have extremely dry skin so I sometimes will use a moisturizer as well as my toner and serums under the cerave healing ointment. You don’t have to do this however as long as you have some sort of moisture on your face from either water or serums, otherwise putting it onto a dry face will just cause more dryness. I sometimes also just use aloe Vera gel on my face after washing and put the ointment right on top. I have extreme rosacea so it’s very soothing and is the only thing other than a face oil that keeps my skin from drying out
@@amanda.gonz1244 yes because vaseline will trap in the moisturizer to prevent water loss. this is why it is best to moisturize when the skin is a tiny bit damp and then sealing it all in with an occlusive i.e. vaseline
There are all sorts of new studies revealing Vaseline cones from petroleum and has cancer causing ingredients
Water loss from the skin happens more rapidly while you sleep at night because your skin's PH becomes a little more acidic. So the extra occlusive layer slows down water loss and seals in the moisture.
Everyone's skin is different. Just because it won't "clog pores" doesn't mean it won't exacerbate your acne. I tried different brands of petrolatum and moisturizers that have mineral oil as one of the first ingredients, and they broke me out. The new cerave formula (my go-to brand because it NEVER BROKE ME OUT ) recently changed their formula and it gave me pimples. I read the ingredients on the back and saw that they'd moved up the petrolatum on the ingredients list. If you have acne, I would suggest you proceed with caution. Yes, she's a dermatologist, and I'm not trying to discount that in any way, but I tried petroleum jelly and products she said were ok for acne-prone skin and they definitely didn't work for me.
Yes! Vaseline causes break outs for me too.
My skin is insanely sensitive and temperamental. As soon as I find something it likes, the company changes the formula and I’m back to square one. Hate it! It’s so frustrating.
I use Vaseline every night after my Tretinoin. It saves my skin from the tret dryness and flaking!
Do you use it on top of tretinoin?
I do the same thing. I mix my tretinoin with the Cerave cream moisturizer, let it absorb and then apply Vaseline afterwards. It really helps with combating dryness from the tretinoin.
How long do you wait between applying your tret and applying the Vaseline? Is 15 minutes enough?
Umm after? Wouldn’t that just cause more irritation
Don’t think that’s a good idea
A good friend’s mother was a smoker, but every evening she put Vaseline on her face. She had amazing skin into her 80’s!
Nobody has an "amazing" face at the age of 80, my dear.
@Beneceroliesp see my above comment.. I dont smoke 2 packs a day but have smoked 1 pack/day for 34 yrs.. my skin is good I take care of it every day but my lungs on the other hand are not..
Putting Cerave healing ointment on as my last step in P.M. routine has completely transformed my skin 😻. More supple, glowy, hydrated. Received so many compliments since I started doing this.
Ditto! I've been using Retin A for about 4 years, and I kept having occasional patches of extremely dry, flaky skin around my chin and cheeks. Out of frustration, I put a little Vaseline on the patches at night after the Retin A absorbed and the dryness disappeared. I found the CeraVe Healing Ointment, checked the ingredients (thanks, Dr.!). I've been using it all over my face ever since and wow! the effect on the small and medium creases around my eyes and general smoothness and texture of my skin is amazing!
@@eurokay4755 👏👏👏 Yay 😁
Can it be used on oily skin please?
@@kokila8985 yes :)
In the winter, when my feet get very dry, I slather vaseline on them, put small plastic bags (the ones you put your produce in) over the vaseline, then socks over the bags. In the morning, I have the softest feet ever.
Omg love this. Will definitely try. Thank you!!
Oh yes this method is also done by my gran-mother and mum and myself too. Works wonders!
I do the same but without the baggie.
The plastic bag before the socks is actual genius
I totally agree on this. Apply Vaseline to your feet especially on your heels and use a cling wrap... keep it overnight... You'll see your feet in the morning and you'll remember me ❤️😍 Goodbye to dryness💕👍💖😘😘
Purr💅🏽 Been saying this for a long time now. They're so comcerned about Vaseline clogging pores but yet will bathe in coconut oil(which is a 4-5 on the comedogenic scale🤦🏽♀️)
🤣🎯
Yes, they really are coco-nuts. Some of these people look really terrible but they just go on and on about how coconut oil is miraculous 😢
Having allergies on my eyes. Dermatologist said no cosmetics until cleared up. To wash with water only and Vaseline as a moisturizer. Amazing! It does not clog pores. 😊
If you are washing with water only and using only Vaseline, you are not getting your skin clean. You are sealing your skin in and not cleaning it.
Hii dear can i apply Vaseline as a moisture ?
I use vaseline day and night and have been since 2019. Now I can literally wash my face and let it dry without any moisturiser and it still glows! All hail petrolatum
Do you remove it in the morning?
@@ayses3851 you dont need to apply a super thick layer, so by the morning it should already be absorbed into your skin! if it isnt you can definitely just rinse or wipe it off
True.. me too!
Do you just use vaseline or with moisturizer? And what first?
@@jjsimp529Commenting here to hear what she may reply to your question as I'd like to know this too.
I like using it on my face, almost feels or looks like a highlighter on my cheekbones and keeps my eyebrows in place
Interesting! This is cool to hear. I wonder if I could wear a small amount of vaseline over a sunscreen, on my cheekbones and under eyes before applying makeup! I like the dewy look.
@@lambulance of course you can. I do this trick all the time. I mean I still self prep with vasline (makes good primer) but using small amounts on the places where light hits will make the skin look healthy and dewy. Combine that with some blush and you got the perfect “summer dewy” look without even having to try. Vaseline is not only good with makeup...it helps makeup glide on so much easier! Honestly love it so much. Also helps achieve a natural look
@@andrewaguayo115 Perfect. Running to pick some up from the store now! :)
Same! The soap brow never worked for me, but a tiny amount of vaseline worked wonders.
No Vaseline on sunscreen will make you darker
I LOVE Vaseline. I started using it as a replacement for lip products and omg I have never had softer, more moisturised lips, ever. Every now and then I love to use it on my face in the evening, especially during these cold and dry winter months (southern hemisphere).
I imagine it would do even better if after you apply your moisturizer and lip balm, just put a layer of Vaseline on top
Been using vaseline around my nose as a kid and teenager when it was so irritated by the use of tissue when I was sick. The next morning my nose was ALWAYS smooth and no more irritated. Good old trick from my mom. I am happy to know you are recommending it and that I was not crazy to use it hahaha
Funny 😄 story: when I was younger, pre teen at most, getting into the skincare world lol 😆, I would use Vaseline petroleum jelly on my eyelashes and brows thinking that it would grow them. Eventually, the jelly went all around my eyes onto my face and forehead. Not even gonna lie, it cleared up my forehead bumps 😮😧. Sounds weird but it worked for me 👍
Same here - whenever I had a cold and my nose would be red raw from tissues wiping it, mum would put Vaseline on my nose and boom, healed up in no time. Now I use it as a preventative to a sore nose an put it on every few tissue uses, to avoid the soreness
@@yanesen4416 interesting. It probably brought the bumps to the skin because it works like a sealant keeping all that moisture in until it explodes lol
@@ra3_ven239 LOL 😆 idk
It's a bit confusing because Dray has also said in her shopping video that thick occlusive ointments like Vaseline can trigger breakouts for those that are acne prone. I wake up with giant juicy whiteheads every time!
It doesn’t clog pores & you have to use it correctly. If you have sensitive skin I wouldn’t do slugging tho
And if I had oily skin, I wouldn’t do it.
Same with me. I always wake up with milia in the morning after applying Vaseline 😢
@@jestinyh🎉
I use it with a little lemon after i wash my face keep some moisture in skin and slather this on! In the morning wow the lemon works on brown spots and they disappear 🫠
I have contact dermititis and I'm experiencing dry skin in certain spots of the face. I use face moisturizers but I'm so happy I can use this in addition on the extremely dry parts around my lips, eyes and chin.
Same. I get dermatitis on my eyelids. Around my mouth and eyebrows
I get dermatitis on my eyelids pretty bad and vaseline is a LIFE SAVER. I always use it as an eye cream step, and sometimes I just slather it on the entire face to preserve my moisture barrier. It heals my irritated eczema prone skin right up!
Same. I got terrible contact dermatitis last winter on the upper part of my nose, where my glasses lie. Only vaseline and a lanolin ointment helped.
Hi ,can you please tell what to do in dermatitis as I am suffering from it...marks appear and got disappeared after some hours but those marks are very itchy and it is making me go insane 🥺

Did you just use vaseline or with moisturizer? And what first to apply?
I use it on my eyes and lips every night and then once a fortnight (or once a week in winter) to other areas of my face to help restore my moisture barrier as I have really dry skin which I’m trying to learn how to take care of properly xx
Do you use any cream before that?
@@fardowsayasin Yes I use cerave moisturising lotion then Vaseline 💕
if you have acne prone skin, do not put vasoline on your face. it acts as a barrier and doesnt allow your skin to breathe, which is exactly what acne prone skin needs. ALWAYS do your research before taking advice off of social media.
I’ve started using Vaseline because of you and it helps so much! 🙌🏼🙌🏼
I use it on my eyes and feet. Also using it for my lips and it’s been the best and cheapest lip balm ever.
I use it around my eyes and lips before I go to bed.
I love vaseline. It protects the moisture barrier. It's the best lip balm.
I rub it on my frown area a couple of times a day to prevent my frown line from getting worse. I normally don't use make-up. Always make sure I do it with clean hands.
Totally forgot I could use Vaseline on places other than my lips. Have been using benzoyl peroxide on my dry acne prone skin this week and I felt like my face was gonna fall off!! Remembered Vaseline and it’s been such an improvement.
Started adapalene for my adult cystic acne and I’m pretty sure I’ve damaged the skin barrier around my cheeks, eyes, and sides of my nose. Used vaseline in those areas the past 3 days, the sensitivity and burning is almost gone!
I use petroleum jelly all winter long! I don’t use it at night, since it makes my face (especially eyelids) swell, but it prevents the skin cracking I used to get every winter!
That's odd, any notion as to why the swelling @Dr Dray? Nvr heard that before
I use Vaseline every night and wake up with glowing skin. It was hard to get used to because of how heavy and greasy it felt at first but it’s worth it. I let it sit for a while and then blot it off the sides of my face where it would touch my pillow. It has helped protect my skin from dirt and stopped bad breakouts.
Will it clog pores .. I HV sensitive bumpy skim
@@self_lovecare it doesn’t clog pores as long as your skin is clean before putting it on. It traps what ever is on your skin and also traps anything from getting into your skin. It creates a barrier basically. When I wash my face at night really well and put on good non comedogenic serums/moisturizers it helps lock the good stuff into your skin and prevents moisture from escaping. You can try a bit under your eyes to start if you wanna test it out, it makes a really good night time eye cream for me. ☺️
@@NeptuneChildASMR bcz of sensitive skin gentle cleanser is enough to cleanse my face then will use vasline ?
@@self_lovecare yes but use a moisturizer first and make sure it is non comedogenic meaning it won’t clog pores. Put the Vaseline over something moisturizing.

And using less is really the best option, dont go too crazy unless you want a dirty sheet next morning 👌🏻
There's still product on your face the next morning, right? How do you remove it? Just washing your face? Because once I applied vaseline to my feet and it was pretty hard to remove it. I want to start applying on my face but my past experience with vaseline makes me avoid the product.
@@jvictor001 Treat it like a clay or peel off mask. Only put enough on that you have slip on the skin but not enough that you look like a demented Michelin man.
I use the pea sized amount rule. One pea to the forehead and t-zone and one to the chin, cheeks, and front of neck. I use one more dollop to the back and to the decolatage, so 5 pea sized amounts total to cover the whole face and upper torso. Anymore, and you are correct, you will be rubbing it off on your pillows. Or, if that's still not enjoyable, vasiline sells an Eczama relief cream that feels less sticky in my opinion than the Eurcerin one. It has fewer active ingredients (a plus or a minus depending on what you're using it for) but absorbs better into the skin. If I wasn't a devotee to Cerave and Aveeno, Eucerin; Vasiline would take the next top spot for my skin care purchases.
I might try less I forgot about this method, I stopped using it as I didn't like the feel but it made my skin better I should try less so it doesn't feel sticky or catch every hair
Back in the early 80's, there was a particular doctor in my area that wrote orders for Crisco for severely dry skin on the arms and legs.
One day, in desperation, I tried it-never again! I went to Vaseline and it was far superior.
Love ya, Dr. Dray...your advice is spot-on!
Crisco??? That’s disgusting
Well in the doctor's defense, Crisco is just hydrogenated vegetable oil...
I have seen crisco used for legs that are severely dry, thickened scaley skin. ,google "stasis dermatitis" and you'll see what I mean. It's cheap, and it helps.
only sometimes at night...but always when outside during winter while shoveling!!! it's a great wind barrier👍
Using Vaseline as the last part of my evening routine has made a massive difference in my skin. My under-eye area and lines around my mouth are gone. I'm 65, and the change in my skin is remarkable.
I have always used it on lips, eyelids and cuticles. Wanted to try the Cereve Healing Ointment, but can’t get it in Canada. However, they have it in a baby version in the baby aisle of the drugstore. Same ingredients. Love it.

I used Vaseline after I had a horrible rebound reaction from a Kenalog injection for an undiagnosed rash on my chest and back. It was THE ONLY THING my skin could tolerate. It soothed the stinging, itching and burning of my totally raw facial skin. Great stuff!
I’ve always used Vaseline for my lips and dry areas on my face. Love hearing you say this because my friends and family tease me for doing it. Haha

Love these shorts. I use cerave and derma e, and sometimes top it with vaseline. Thanks for your advice.
Sometimes I add a thin layer of Shea Butter. No residue and melts into my skin.
I am so thankful that you taught me about Vaseline! I like a lot of Clinique skincare products, but now I put Vaseline on last to seal the good stuff in. Then sunscreen. I’m 48 and I have no lines, not even under the eyes. NONE. Makeup under eyes would create artificial creases that resembled fine lines, though-lines which I don’t really have on my clean face, but there are no makeup creases when I use Vaseline! I sometimes use it around my eyes for that extra step. I’ve wanted to ask, if you ever see this, that if Vaseline helps with chicken skin (keratosis pilaris). It stops water loss just as you said…so would it help with this dry skin condition?
Edit: Answer Below
Short Answer: No
I’ve only tried Vaseline on my lower legs after shaving as I don’t have acne there and the red bumps have reduced drastically
I'd check out her videos on KP.
I have that condition on my upper arms. Vaseline will not help. The reason we have kp is the cells do not turn over/exfoliate properly and they need help to do that with a chemical exfoliant. You need a alpha hydroxy acid lotion or cream. I use Amalactin daily but I’ve also used KP Duty lotion in the past (more expensive). Paired with a light exfoliating scrubber in the shower it works wonders. Dr Dray has addressed this in previous videos, and has been a tremendous help. I finally understand this and what to do.
