Best line ever in this song, I love this woman
I thought she was saying Queen isn't that the name of the song
not that it's not amazing, but that's legit one of the most on-the-nose lines in the song...there are so many better ones. >_> don't settle for the lowest man. enjoy the lyricism!! that's what she's best at. I know you do already, I'm just checkin

"Add us to equations, but they never make us equal."
atlmprof1 Facts!
atlmprof1 But the secrete is... you were created as equals so you just are and own it!
*Hard Pills to Swallow* : This
Integration is what comes to mind for me
I hear what you are saying but know that God created every man equal and He alone rules heaven and earth. The constitution did not say it first, God said it first in the Bible. So no man can make you unequal but if you are weak minded or inferior-thinking and believe the lie that's another story. Don't give people power over you or acknowledge their ignorance. Know that Black people and all people in general only need God to validate them. When the white man, black man, yellow man, brown man, pink white blouse man or red man dies, they all go to their death whether in the water, in a fire or can be buried in a casket. Superior only relates to God because only He exists and lives forever and only He is All-Powerful, All-Knowing and All-Supreme. Human beings do not possess these things.

She not just flipped it, she flipped the entire table. This song really is a weapon of mass education. I loved it when this first came out and love it even more now in 2020. Way ahead of it's time.

People are forever sleeping on Janelle Monae. One of the greatest talents in the music industry.
I remember this on a commercial but I thought it was another clothing commercial I heard a whole lot of great things about her if I'm not mistaking this had to be in my early or mid 20s because I'm just learning more about her now sorry I'm late it's something how she takes each era of music and brings them together wish the industry could open up more doors for her she's awesome at such a young age
Triple Threat I Love Her
Who?
*Janelle Monáe is THE most talented female pop music singer of modern times. Period.*
I saw her a few years ago live in Cologne/Germany. She rocked that stage with the energy of a hurricane. If anybody ever has the opportunity to see her live: go for it, you ain't gonna regret it. She's an incredible dancer, a perfect entertainer, seems like a ton of fun - sesame street approved ;-). Her lyrics and often dystopian video clips are quite inspirational. She's a passionate true musician with every fiber, not one of those artificial products pushed by some TV talent show.
What more can you ask? Honestly, I don't understand why she isn't by now equally famous as a guy like King of pop Michael Jackson. I'm not saying she isn't successful (maybe she's just more interested in good music than fame, which certainly is a good thing), yet still I'm puzzled why not more people have recognized her talent yet, especially since she's out there for many years already.
🙌 Saw her live in Michigan a few years ago and have been asking the same question.ever since. Why is she not being actively worshipped?
I honestly didn't know who she was until I saw Hidden Figures.
@@flibrtandjibt701 she got clothes on
@@nekeishawynn7453 She refuses to play the "I must show my off body so people can see how hot I look" game that a lot of female singers seems to go for or pander to the male gaze lest they think she's not woman enough. She makes her music speak for itself.

“March to the streets cause I'm willing and I'm able”
The power
"'Q.U.E.E.N.' definitely is an acronym," Monae explains during an interview at Fuse HQ. "It's for those who are marginalized." She says the "Q" represents the queer community, the "U" for the untouchables, the "E" for emigrants, the second "E" for the excommunicated and the "N" for those labeled as negroid.
"It's for everyone who's felt ostracized," she adds. "I wanted to create something for people who feel like they want to give up because they're not accepted by society."
💗 awesome
“Q.U.E.E.N”. Quirky, Unafraid, Electric, Epic & Nicety. Just like an Electric Lady

"They keep us on the ground working hard for the greedy
But when it's time to pay they turn around and call us needy"
🔥🔥🔥💯💯💯
Hey! Your sister sounds cool:) Could you tell her about the podcast Pitchfork Economics. Purely based on your comment, I bet she would like it because it talks about everything in and around this topic. It's legit:)
And just like that, this song is more prevalent than ever. #BLM
Most of her music is when u go back and listen. Her entire Dirty Computer album could literally have been released yesterday and people would probably presume it was written about the last few weeks in America. She's such a Q.U.E.E.N

She's Not a freak for watching Mary dance with awe.
She's not a freak for loving women, and she isn't a freak for the way she dresses.
She is using some freaky, jerking, robo-like movements in this music video though.
I like listening to her and watching her get down with the music.
❤
This hits hard rip amethyst
Girl not u saying it like she dead 😭💀
Past Janelle was warning us about Future Janelle from jump & y’all were so struck on the fact that she presented herself differently and therefore would be different. She is different though. She wears her sexuality as a mere accessory. It doesn’t define and has never defined her as an artist and THIS IS WHY she is able to go from fully clothed to damn near naked right before our eyes. Marketing at its best imo
Louder for the people in the back!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉

FUN FACT: They’re both 5’0”
so you telling me, nobody told me my two favorite people are the same height as me😩
They the same height as my mom lol
I only learned Janelle was 5'0" tall very recently -- in a recent interview, Julia Roberts referred to her as being "no bigger than a minute", which got me wondering how short she was! I'm 5'8" myself, my mom's 5'11" and that side of the family are all tall too -- let's just say I learned I have a terrible bias, and I need to stop judging people by their height. Height is no barrier for the good and great contributions you can make to this world.
Not two high and not two low ou 🦉

As someone who grew up queer, Mormon and hopelessly nerdy in Utah, THANK YOU JANELLE MONAE FOR THIS SONG. It made my LIFE!

✨❤️✨ That’s exactly what this song was supposed to do...reach kindred spirits and unite us in love no matter our race, ethnicity, culture, etc..I’m a Creole girl from 5th ward Houston Texas lol and look at us, we both love us some Cindi Mayweather. 😆🥰 That touches my soul so much. Anyway let me stop now cause I’ll be here typing all day lol, ...Sending love to you and ALL my tribe! As Janelle says in Cold War: “Bring wings to the weak and bring grace to the strong may all evil stumbles as it flies in the world. ALL THE TRIBES COME AND THE MIGHTY WILL CRUMBLE! We must brave this night and have faith in LOVE.” I live by those lyrics 🤠🤘🏽🇨🇱🇺🇸✨🦋✨🪐✨
I...I just can't stop staring at her. She's so fluid and gorgeous and funky and just plain righteous--all at the same damn time. I bet seeing her live is a real treat.
maddywoo13 You would make money on that bet. I've seen her live twice. The second time, her voice wasn't in top shape, so she made up for it by crowd surfing. I have a picture of her from about three feet away, and I was in the middle of the audience half-way back.
She is so much the real deal. I hope she can find a way to get compensated sufficiently for what she gives to art.
maddywoo13 true
I saw her live and have never experienced something as magical as when the bass dropped on Locked Inside and the entire crowd starting jamming at the exact same moment altogether. It was beautiful.
Janelle Monae spreads amazing messages of acceptance and pride in a way that is accessible to many different types of people. I adore her and she's one of the only famous people I crush on...I'd love to talk with her, but that's unlikely to happen. I guess I''ll just have to keep listening to her music
This song was the s&it of its time
Still is
Still is!!!!
This doesn't have enough likes!
Jeeeez yall dont know how much I loveeee this woman. Her messages are uplifting. She makes me appreciate my skin colour. Makes me appreciate myself
She is amazing. Every time I see her I think she is the most talented, most beautiful, most sexy woman I have ever seen in pop culture and Im your average hick white guy. She is hypnotizing.
I love her too. She's one of the most talented, beautiful, women I've ever seen. She definitely deserves more exposure than she seems to get because she deserves to be celebrated by everyone. This song specifically speaks to me because of it's message of empowerment to ethnicities and LGBT people. Being gay myself, it feels amazing to have artists that write complete songs about injustices like racism and homophobia because a lot of artists are too scared to tread those waters for fear of public backlash. Janelle just plain doesn't care about any of that, and I will love her eternally for it.
+ghostryder94/ it's beautiful super cool non bias people like you we need more of in this world so scratch that "white hick guy" what ever you're officially called adopted fabulous family forever take care much love & respect peace😆
A lot of people love Janelle Monae. The Electric Lady did really well commercially.

a reminder: Janelles music has ALWAYS been sensual: "am i a freak because i love watching mary?"
Yeahhh the lyrics had a powerful message
However she did not act the lyrics out in the most sensual way possible
I haven't seen any black woman who embraces black women like her in her video as much as she does.
That rap at the end sent chills down my spine. It was magical.
She is an ICON. Her rap game is strong. Reminds me of the days when it was pure. Uplifting.

That rap at the end *sends chills down my spine. It *is magical. - playing on repeat since 2014
Janelle hasn't "blown up" because she doesn't want to. Shes successful enough. The bigger you blow up, usually the less creative control you have.
Crystal Aggrey fast foward to now and she letting it all out...lol
I seriously love her confidence
This was iconic ❤❤
"They keep us underground working hard for the greedy, but when its time to pay they turn around and call us needy." Damn!
Wish we could get more of her on the radio.
If people want real music nowadays, it won't be on the radio.
Janelle Monae is a False Prophet representing the Dark Age aka Last Days. The video has black and white in it representing duality "good and evil" then she has a verse saying "Hey brother can you save my soul from the devil?" then says "Hey sister am I good enough for your heaven? Say will your God accept me in my black and white?" her black and white represents her being "Good and evil" and the answer to that is NO. Then she's standing in front of an all seeing eye at 5:12 she is a puppet and this song is Trash....

“March to the streets 'cause I'm willing and I'm able (what?)
Categorize me, I defy every label” Black people experience the most discrimination and yet they have done so much for all marginalized communities. This made my day ❤
“Electric ladies will you sleep or will you preach” This entire song a whole vibe!
She’s referring to electric sheep aka Bladerunner
Why are these two QUEENS so underrated ?
Because the world is filled with Dumb-asses. I don't know.
Probably because its corny music. I don't know, its not great. Its decent at best.
dan meme Shut the fuck up.
Because they are classy, because they have self respect and knowledge of self, the industry doesn't want the masses to any of those characteristics.

Surely you have made the goal... Message me on fb
The girl can wear th f@%k out of a tuxedo or suit too. I mean DAMN! Very few girls cut such an amazing figure in that type of stuff.
@@CooknBimbo That's because most girls can't afford to get the suit cut for their figure? A properly tailored suit, no matter who's wearing it, should feel like a second skin. And since Janelle Monae wears suits all the time (because she is an actual working class hero who honors her parents' sacrifices in uniformed blue collar jobs), she gets a lot of value out of her suits for what she may pay to have them tailored. Honestly, to any man or woman who wants to go by her example and wear all the suits -- the tailoring is worth it. Just consider it part of the cost, like you would the insurance you buy for your car.
