Russo Wintergreen you are really fucking stupid and racist for that comment. Lots of dark skinned female singers are successful and relevant for your information. E.g. Sza, Janelle Monae, Lauren Hill, Missy Elliot, Jennifer Hudson and the list could go on. So please shut up and stop posting dumb comments.
Russo Wintergreen Well if you’ve been keeping up with modern music you will know that Sza is proving herself and is collaborating with many artists. The other singers I have listed may be from the 90s-2000s but at least they have opened the path for more women of colour to make music and be successful.
I'd say the moves are more JANET Jackson (who did some shout-outs to brother Michael in her routines), and that's definitely the case with the Django clip.
When this first started playing, I thought, "Eh, it's alright. It just sounds really average." But duuude, as time went on, I could literally feel the passion that went into this song. I love it.

I still don't understand how she lost at the Grammys for her debut album. It was perfection and a clear indication that the Grammys are a joke at this point.
Something about this song just makes it unique & unlike any other. The bass and the background sounds/beats all blended into the melody with her angelic voice is so electrifying❣️🥹😌

CorrectVision3 it does have a prince vibe too it
maybe it's because he worked on the song :D consequenceofsound.net/2018/02/prince-was-heavily-involved-in-janelle-monaes-forthcoming-dirty-computer/
There is a little part of Prince
A little part? It's got Prince all over it!
Paul Endersby : I agree. I love it!
PRINCE BE SMILIN' FROM HEAVEN FOR SURE
SHAHAD shahadalotaibi Please, Prince was above all a composer who could write actual MELODIES with some sophisticated chords and complex rhythm underneath. Can't say the same about Janelle and this "song" unfortunately...
Funkyslap you annoying af
It don't matter Prince still loved her. She was one of the "few" newer artist that Prince had love and respect for.
I read that Prince and Janelle was close friends and he was her mentor so.......
Or he might be thinking wtf why she stealing my sound.
Yes Prince would be real proud! Much love to you Ms Monae!!!❤❤❤
JANELLE IS THE GOLD STANDARD IN THIS MUSIC GENRE. No one compares! 👏👏👏👏
Anneska Kirideska v
Gold Standard is also a Prince song.😂😂😂😂 Great coincidence.
+Russo Wintergreen your problem? if you don't like black women, then why are u here?
Sound evokes Prince, moves evoke MJ, yet it still feels all Janelle Monáe
TexasTrojanPony My exact thoughts
I'd say the moves are more JANET Jackson (who did some shout-outs to brother Michael in her routines), and that's definitely the case with the Django clip.
Exactly. I was about to write that.
Right
yeah okay I'll have to concede on that one
I can bet you David Bowie and Prince are looking at this video from heaven smiling proud af
😘
This made me smile
Aww
❤️❤️
yessssssssss!!!! lol
This is a gorgeous Valentine to Prince with so many lovely layers. Absolute fire 🔥
Prince would be so proud!
She most definitely is on that Prince-influence. Keeping it light, colorful and funky fresh. Sounds like her coming-out party.
TALON ndeed
Prince-fluence
The Prince vibes are irresistibly fantastic. I'm here for it & love every second of it!!!
Somebody looooves Prince, right? 😘 Good job

Christopher Dessources the other girl in the video...
samsara lol you think friends look/touch each other like that? They’ve been in each other’s company for a while they ain’t slick 😂
One of the few intro songs I will never ever ever skip 😍😍😍😍
Lmao. One of the few shows that I watch because I want to hear the intro
Exactly ❤
Prince and San Junipero vibes, love this
Glad I'm not the only one who thought about San Junipero
Yass Black Mirror
Yeah! It sounds incredibly similar to Prince's "Kiss"
Omg I was just about to write Prince and San Junipero vibes too
You stole the words right out of my mouth! San Junipero is my favorite episode! And Prince is the greatest!
I feel like I’ve just watched a music video for San Junipero and I’m HERE FOR IT! BEAUTIFUL STUNNING AMAZING LEGENDARY AND A WONDERFUL PRINCE VIBE 💜💜💜
Loved that episode..... #blackmirror
👏🏾👏🏾
oh my god im not the only one! that arcade scene especially!!
Yes! Exactly my thought too 💚
Snap!! All the outfits & style. What an homage to Prince 😊
Prince vibes ALL OVER THIS!!! 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
Efosa Igbinovia sax
And a wee bit of Robert Palmer
Efosa Igbinovia he wrote it before he died
I was just thinking that haha, Prince reborn
Kelsey Lynch Wait really?!
Thank you Human Resources for introducing me to this gem of an artist
Fr, me too ahah
I can't even with this and Django Jane. I'm dead and in heaven listening to this beauty on repeat.
When this first started playing, I thought, "Eh, it's alright. It just sounds really average." But duuude, as time went on, I could literally feel the passion that went into this song. I love it.
Rainbow Bell ikr it's insane. Now it's stuck in my head, when I'm eating pizza especially.
LITERALLY me!
Yea
THE QUEEN HAS RETURNED, BLESS US
Ahsante the Artist amen
*THE Q.U.E.E.N.
It's been five loooooong years. So happy to see her making music again!
welingtom kalixto wot
Ahsante the Artist amen.
This song and the way she performed it is 🔥. I admit I first heard it on Dragrace and loved it from there, but now Human Resources brought me back to jam to it again. ❤❤
This is the best coming out as bisexual video ever
JobKihia technically she did that in QUEEN
Zefurry the vibes were strong in QUEEN but still vague but it’s out in the open here thank god
JobKihia She came out in an interview long ago. She wasn’t as famous then so nobody remembers it
"Am I a freak because I love watching Mary?"
This is criminally underrated 😤
Osiel Escalante...shouting it from the roof top
Janelle Monae is officially the coolest person in the world
Regina Lee
Janelle Monae has always been AMAZING.
IKR
She has been for years girl !
When was she not
the beat of the song is scratching my brain in the right places
video : effing gorgeous.
song : can't get it out of my head, so good!
She snapped, she said ‘y’all will stop sleeping on my music’
Janelle Monaè needs to win a Grammy for this.
Keaton Baker a grammy, an oscar, a tony, every damn award even if it isn’t related to music
She needed for Electric lady in my opinion. This and Django Jane are great. But She definitely needs hardware. She's been nominated enough.
Oh yes we do love Prince/David Bowie vibes!
Yep!
Nicole So true!
yasssss i was just thinking of that
Indeed we do!
Prince yes. But Its not weird enough to be in Bowie's universe. Bowie didn't sing about love or relationships that often.
I swear this song has Prince written all over it!😍
He was collaborating with her on this album, and specifically this song (obviously), when he passed away.
that's the first thing I thought when I heard it!
Yes ofc
Absolutely!!!!!
There's a nod to Robert Palmer in there too. She's so talented. So glad NPR brought me to her music and videos.
Thank you Janelle for tastefully reminding me that PRINCE and his KISS are still here!!!...I always have been a huge fan of your work and always will be!!!😚😚😚😚
I love this song. I can’t believe it wasn’t a major hit. It needs to be re-released.
Loveeeeeeee damn wish Prince was alive to make a cameo on this track
babe bave he'd strum his guitar loud as hell every time she cussed in this one 💕xD
:) :) :) :) :) !!!
Actually his DJ said he came up with the synth sound and gave it to Janelle so he is kind of cameo-ing !
No way!!! So cool!! So glad to hear that!
She had a Prince feature on "Givin Em What They Love" and it was PERFECT
Oh man, this song put a smile on my face
Monae got that swag
Swag got some Monae :)
SHE GOT SUCH SAUSE
Felix Thomas And Class!!!****
The colors. The lighting. The hair. The make-up. The choreography. The vibe. The funk. Damn.
I'm a new fan of Janelle Monae... I'm in love with her voice and just her overall attitude... she seems like a super cool person to hang out with
She is such an underated icon
Suga Kookie no, yoongi is the real underrated icon
Suga Kookie true
She really is. Sincerely hoping she gets the praise she deserves for this record if these two videos are any indication of how good it will be.
I totally agree, she doesn’t get near enough play.
Rishabh Tyagi no
LYRICS
Baby, don’t make me spell it out for you
All of the feelings that I've got for you
Can't be explained, but I can try for you
Yeah, baby, don't make me spell it out for you
You keep on asking me the same questions (why?)
And second guessing all my intentions
Should know by the way I use my compression
That you've got the answers to my confessions
It's like I'm powerful with a little bit of tender
An emotional, sexual bender
Mess me up, yeah, but no one does it better
There's nothin' better
That's just the way you make me feel
That's just the way you make me feel
So real, so good, so fuckin' real
That's just the way you make me feel
That's just the way you make me feel
You know I love it, so please don't stop it
You got me right here in your jean pocket (right now)
Laying your body on a shag carpet (oh)
You know I love it so please don't stop it
It's like I'm powerful with a little bit of tender
An emotional, sexual bender
Mess me up, yeah, but no one does it better
There's nothin' better
That's just the way you make me feel
That's just the way you make me feel
So real, so good, so fuckin' real
That's just the way you make me feel
That's just the way you make me feel
That's just the way that I feel now, baby
Good God! I can't help it! Agh!
That's just the way that I feel, yeah
Please! I can't help it
It's like I'm powerful with a little bit of tender
An emotional, sexual bender
Mess me up, yeah, but no one does it better (oh!)
There's nothin' better (better!) Damn
That's just the way you make me feel
That's just the way you make me feel
So real, so good, so fuckin' real
That's just the way you make me feel
That's just the way you make me feel
😂 it looks like you copied and pasted from genius. Thanks thought, very helpful

I’m getting so much bisexuality vibes from this video and I live for it! 💅🏼🙅♀️🙅♂️
Just vibes? I mean it's blatant. :D
Victoria Dudley you is correct 👏
haha ryea
it definitely is Victoria are u for it?
She gave those vibes on her Electric Lady album. She didn't want to admit anything then from those lyrics, but now this video may be her coming out with it.
How many of you instantly felt the Prince’s presence without even saying anything ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
TheOnlyDeriko I gotta be real I said something.
It’s hard not to. It sounds just like something out of his catalog. Pretty catchy stuff.
Prince!!!!! Sound, use of voice....everything💥
Prince would be proud. She can really dance....and...sing.
The Indigo one paying homage to the Purple one 🙌🏾
Ebony Hagans-Greene Indeed and love it❤
Definitely!
I thought the same thing!
Please, Prince was above all a composer who could write actual MELODIES with some sophisticated chords and complex rhythm underneath. Can't say the same about Janelle and this "song" unfortunately...
Ebony Hagans-Greene I don't see how this is similar to Prince in the slightest
Q.U.E.E.R Q.U.E.E.N Prince would be proud 💗💗
