I will watch 1 or 2 channels of the most conservative ones, since I need to learn the techniques of applying makeup (w/o going crazy overboard 🤡like majority of YTubers) No longer a spring chicken as when I wore only moisturizer 4 decades, I now lack skills most other women my age have practiced 4 years w makeup. I should have practiced, but I hate that feel of stuff on my face..It's hard getting used to sunscreen even, but I've had multiple skin cancers on face, chest, trunk, neck, legs, one a big threat to my eye cause I let it go so long. Looking 4 a derm doc now -- another bad place on chest & my PS retired 4 years ago. The woman derm doc I want, makes U fill out health history online. 😞🌝🏜

Komatsu Sakura retin a will make your skin burn in the beginning and even still does to me if I put it on while my skin is wet or don’t moisturize before or I use more than 2-3 times a week, even that is to much sometimes. I changed dermatologist recently and he put me on a completely different skin care routine. I was on Tazorac and my acne just kept getting worse after 6 weeks almost. He changed me to Adapalene, benzoyle peroxide wash (neutrogena) wash in the mornings and salicylic acid was at night and Doxycycline antibiotics...oh and NO MOISTURIZER because he said my skin was already oily. When I heard him say that I said "um no, you don't know what you're talking about. I NEED moisturizer". I feel so bad for questioning him because my skin is nearly pimple free after ONE WEEK. I never in a million years thought my skin could handle no moisturizer lol. I will be apologizing in our follow up visit :) So absolutely grateful for all you amazing dermatologists!!

I just seen my dermatologist today. He said the REAL retinol will cost $50.00 to $70.00. Then I read that retinol can possibly cause dryness, peeling, etc. I JUST got down an awesome skin care routine. I mean is this REALLY necessary. I don’t want to interrupt my ROSACEA, DRY, and HYPERSENSITIVE skin. I don’t want to go through MORE dryness, sensitivity, peeling, etc etc. ugh! Too much high maintenance.

I also feel like I could predict what their recommendations for me would be and have an intelligent discussion with them about skincare ;)

Thank you for this video!! I sometimes put moisturizer under my tretiinoin, but I was wondering does applying moisturizer under tretinoin decrease the effectiveness of tretinoin for anti-aging? I was considering doing it every night because I really like to moisturize. If not, does moisturizing over tretinoin decrease the anti-aging effectiveness?

Are there some people that just cannot tolerate retinol? I first tried Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair a few years ago. After 2 or 3 uses, it left little itchy bumps all over my face. My skin looked like an orange peel and it took over a month for it to return to its normal state. Many months later I started using an oil that I did not realize contained retinyl palmitate. The same thing happened after less than a week of use - a face covered in small itchy bumps that turned into orange peel skin. It took many weeks for my skin to return to normal. Could I possibly be allergic to retinol?

@jajarounette95 Yes, it took several weeks, but my skin went back to normal completely! I did not use any actives, exfoliants (no vitamin c, acids, etc.) or anything harsh. Just a very gentle cleanser, Dr. Jart Ceramidin Liquid twice a day, moisturizer, sunscreen during the day and added in an argan facial oil at night. Just gentle, moisturizing, soothing products. Notes taken: Retinoic Acid derivatives: Retinoin/Retin-A (the most effective anti-aging); Tazarotene/Tazorac (effective, irritating); Adapeline/Differin(effective for acne, not that effective for anti-aging); Retinol (not active, less effective). Dr. Dray, first of all thank you for all that you do for the community here who is interested in these matters, and those of us who care about truly taking care of the health of our skin and our bodies
I've been watching you for a few months, now subscribed. I have one question for Dr Dray and if anyone else can answer it, from what she has recommended, regarding it, I would so appreciate it and here is my question:
Seems like I heard our Dr Dray say the other day when listening to one of these videos on Retin-A that you can apply your moisturizer BEFORE the Retin-A. Is this true?? I was always told that the Retin-A *must* be applied first to allow it to go down into one's skin, then wait 15 or 20 minutes until it is absorbed, before putting one's moisturizer on ..(or any other product)
    Which is correct?
THANK YOU SO MUCH if you can answer, since I'm dizzy from searching and researching the videos to find the one sentence about moisturizer --*before or after.*
Thank you to anyone who can tell me what Dr Dray recommends on this 🌅

    • @jonatikaWwe

I'm not sure about retin-A but she has a video about adapalene (Differin) where she says to put moisturizer on wet skin (after washing-not with SA) and wait for it to dry, then after your face is dry apply a pea size amount of adapalene avoiding the area around the eyes, nose and mouth (she put an ointment on those areas before the adapalene in the video). I think the same would apply since she said that they're both active forms but I'm not sure. 🤷

Dr. Dray: an article I read said that using tretinoin too early in life may cause cells to reproduce at a rate that depletes skin cells’ ability to reproduce later in life because there is only a finite number of times that cells can divide. Basically the article inferred that using tretinoin in your twenties means that you will use up your skin cells’ ability to naturally duplicate in the future and will cause issues for your skin in your 50s and 60s. Do you have any reason to believe this to be the case? Thank you!

I had a superheavy adult acne and that was my story:
    1. Differin+benzoyl peroxide 3 month helped, but I stopped to soon and in a couple of month I had the most terrible period of acne. It was my huge mistake
    2. Obagi tretinoin 0.05 and 0.1 helped,it took half a year. Also used obagi benzoyl peroxide, cleanser, hydroquinone and calycilic acid pads
    3. ZO Skin health retinol(brightenex 0.5)+ vitamin c+ZO power defence didn't help much
Other products I used:invisapeel and sulphur mask
Obagi unfortunately made my skin super dehydrated, sensitive and kind of handicapped even though it was all prescribed by a dermatologist
Azelaic acid derivative(azelamide MEA 10%),soft cleansers and moisturizers made my skin a way better than that and I can see the light at the end of the tunnel
In my opinion Obagi cleansers are too harsh and stripping plus acids and retinol result in bad skin condition. But this is my personal experience and honest opinion only

What can the Neutrogena rapid wrinkle repair cream with retinol do for my skin? I don't have wrinkles but will it make my pores smaller and get rid of my acne marks?

Such informative information on this topic. I enjoy hearing you talk about it. I need to stop diagnosing myself and get to a dermatologist to see what will benefit my skin issues.

Hi again thank you for all your information. How do you feel about curology and apostrophe. They offer an online consultation (telemed) and order tretinoin creams in various strengths. Do you know anything about these groups or anyone who has utilized them.
