@TampaTec : Thanks for the informative video. I am a newbie to DIY Due to a recent repair of our LG 47 Inch TV( same as described in your video black screen), we got the entire back light strips replaced. I am planning to re-purpose the light strips that were taken out. I saw in one video where the TV manufacturers connect these LEDS in Series instead of Paralell( or viceversa ) i could be wrong. however i do not know the voltage needed to connect them. i have 5 Led lights per strip & the connectors at each end are looking like they would fit VATTENSTEN IKEA USB strip power plug. Please advise. Thank you in advance !
Long time, first timer here. Long time subscriber/fan. First time leaving a question. My backlights started going out one section at a time. I was left with 1/3 of the screen going dark. Now the TV shut down and won’t turn back. Aside from the LED backlights, you think maybe the mother board or power board is out? I’m going to crack it open. I got a new TV. This Vizio is going to be my guinea pig repair TV.
Is it possible for a led to illuminate while you're testing it out of circuit with the multimeter but when you put it on the actual strip it's not going to get brighter like the beginning of your video and stays the same brightness? Or if it lights up with the multimeter then once it's in the circuit then it will get brighter when it's supposed to? Basically what I mean is it possible for the LED to not fluxuate brightness properly in circuit but still light up normally on its own
I have a Sharp LC 42sv50u the standby light is on while it's plugged in and when you power up the green light comes on no picture no sound it appears that it may be a problem with the power board any suggestions
TampaTec! Hello sir! Could you help me ? I have this model of tv hitachi 55hk6000 yesterday night we watched the tv and the screen turned off to black and sounds is working now. When i turn on the device its perfect colour and light with hitachi logo and then is will be black and electrick noise and i see wirh flashlight screen mirorring. But i cant change nothing with original remote control of tv. Can u help me pls? Thanks for your reply!
I need help on a phillips 50 in roku tv; it comes on, standby light does a double blink over n over, back lights work, I can see them cause I have the back off, I remove one of the buffer ribbon s from tcon and one side has Pic black on other opposite affect wen I reverse the ribbons the other side of the t will have Pic and black on other. No obvious damage to any boards getting 120 at source. Chief complaint was; they had a power outage, only used for light video games, at first Pic went out, by memory he could toggle to tv and hear the TV shows just black screen. As I mentioned back lights are in operation (they work),
I think in diode mode, the "DMM" puts out 3 Vdc to test the component and about the same on resistance. I would have to read the Bible that comes with it. Chapter "Let there be light" in am sure it saw it! Cool video. I hope you have one that shows the screen array on the back side. My son has failures on his 56" whatever, then sticks them in my garage, no complaints taped to it, no remote or power cord. Just wonderful thinking for a now 38 year old. They sit there because they I have no time, no space and low on my priorities! Thanks!
Hi I was wondering if you could offer some advice I have a Toshiba 55T6863DB tv couple of weeks ago the screen went black but sounds still working , when I turn the tv on now it shows Toshiba for about 2/3 seconds then screen goes black again ? I was wondering what I need to do to fix I’ve replaced all 3 boards I bought on eBay but still have same issue ? Do I need to replace any other boards ? Any help much appreciated as tv is only 4 years old
I did read the comments. But some peoples will never change in there behaviors. If they think they are perfect in electronic so why there here on youtube watching videos and giving bad reviews. 🙄 Some says using a charger to test the led am not saying they are wrong. But think it will only light if the led is good. But it won't led you know how much volts the led using. That's the difference between a charger and a led tester. Jimmy all your videos are good and it's a learning channel also for the new beginners. Thanks likes yours keep it up 👆.
Okay so now I got everything apart and it was exactly what I suspected which is why I asked my question earlier so basically my problem is the TV is working great but the very top from left to right is darker than the rest of the TV right where the top two LED strips are underneath. So I assumed it was one bad LED but now that I took it apart all the LEDs are lighting up individually so I don't know which one is the culprit I only have a multimeter so is this where the LED tester is superior ?because it's able to pump more volts to see if they go brighter or not?? Without that I have no chance of knowing which one is not going brighter if they're all lighting up the same. So since I have it all apart I'm just going to change a few LEDs that look a little bit more yellow than the others and hope for the best. it's still watchable like if you're playing hockey and the goalies at the top of the screen wearing a black Jersey you can barely see him but I'll just wear white jerseys for now.
HELP: I have a tv with no back light. I have tested the LED strips and replaced the bad ones. All strips work when tested individually but they don't work when connected to the driver board. I have also replaced the driver board with a new one but still same thing. There were moments everything seemed to work fine but short lived.
Hey there! Did you test the strips together before installing? Sometimes some strips work by themselves but always make sure they work together before installing
If the screen went dark all at once wouldn't that mean that there must be another issue than LEDS?.. What are the odds that ALL 14 light strips went out at once?...or are they connected to where if 1 goes out they all go out? I do see a picture in the screen when I get close to the TV screen. And the sound is working. Thanks
They are connected in the same circuit. So 1 goes out all go basically. Only useful for the TV manufacturers to allow new tvs to be sold after lights go out.
would you recommend replacing all the strips or just the burned ones ? thank you
Thanks for the video. I do appreciate it when I see videos of how to fix the tvs. 👍
I'll try to do more TV repair videos in the future.
As always, it was a quality video with useful information.👏👏👏

Can I check it from a dc battery

Love that tester, bought one myself real easy, the only PIA is getting TO the LED's

So who makes the best replacement LED strips?
Shopjimmy.com they're tested and I personally installed them in my own TV and still works good.

When I put my probe on the end test points I get a spark then no LEDs light?

Can you not check for very low resistance? Or is it because LEDs are low resistance?
Very nice info Sir
How much is one of those white boxes??

@jcgtv3692 not necessarily, when 1 or 2 LEDs fail, the TV will try to "protect itself" by not turning any of them on 🤷
They are connected in the same circuit. So 1 goes out all go basically. Only useful for the TV manufacturers to allow new tvs to be sold after lights go out.
Nicely done! Thank you!
I bought mine on Alibaba for about $35.00 the whole kit of three strips.
So, where do we find leds like the ones you have in your hand @ 4:30
Thank. you
👍👍👌👌
Blah blah blah. Can I test them using a battery charger?orrrr can I strip the LEDs end an just touch them to a power source..........
@@Elmer-lk8dh yeah use 3v supply
