Your candid instructions are the best so far I followed. My BRUM TV LED stopped functioning at the beginning of the year. Its warranty had expired but I was referred to the company workshop in Kenya. The company charged me USD 65 to replace them. this was too much and I had the TV returned without repair. I got the New LED from a dealer at $20 and fixed it myself. Thanks so much for this useful information
I used this video and part 1 to get my LG 55LB5900 apart and tested. It's definitely the LED strips. Thank you for taking the time to make and upload this video. Thankfully, I have experience with laptop repairs, including the LED screens. They are very similar except more parts are integrated because of the much smaller size. I get the part where you say that it's not that hard of a repair. It's more getting the confidence that it can actually be done. It only took me about 45 minutes to an hour to get to where the LED strips are exposed. The only thing I did different was using smaller pieces of tape only between the ribbon cables that connect the actual screen to the boards. I just didn't want to take any chances of damaging one of those connections. I ordered the parts and I'll work on removing the old strips. I figured it's as good a place as any to take a break. There wasn't anything frustrating about it. It was very straight forward and this video helped A LOT. Thank you.
I would never have been able to fix my own tv. This guy covers everything very well. Thank you for saving me hard earned money and for your shared expert knowledge.
Thanks for this video, Tampatec! My LG TV was exactly as on the video. I was able to follow all the steps easily. Painters tape worked great to keep the screen and the frame together. I didn't need the suction cup, since I taped the screen to the frame and I was able to remove the screen by lifting the frame. The tester and led strips from ShopJimmy worked great as well. Only negative point is I lost 3 nails by trying to unclip the frame! Then I realized a flat screw driver worked much better! Again, great video and easy to follow. I would add that it's easier when you disconnect all the electronic boards ans remove them, so you don't have to worry about damaging electronic components when you flip the TV
Where was that cheeky, lovable son of yours when you needed him to help you? Great video. A classic in TV repair. Bravo and thank you for making and sharing!
Thanks so much. Gave my TV a really good deep clean at the same time. It really worked. Changing the LED strips was 100% the easiest and most satisfying part of the job 😂 I did swear a lot when we got to the part where you said we should have removed the TV board to get the white pins out. Still, no big deal. Sorted my TV for £22. ❤
I've never posted any comments on UA-cam before but I recently had my 50'' Hisense tv go out. While my 2 year old was going crazy not being able to watch Peppa Pig, I bought a small tv as a temporary quick fix so I could tear the tv apart. Even though the one you're showing is a LG, it's very similar to the Hisense I'm currently working on. I was very skeptical about removing the actual tv screen as I'm aware they're very fragile but was more at ease watching you do it. Very helpful video. Appreciate the walk through and explanation of what and why or how to do what.
Wow you know your stuff. My tv screen went out but I still have sound. I ended up buying a new 65 inch tv. But as I type this I have the old tv apart and I'm going to try and fix it. I enjoy taking things apart and putting them back together. So this will be fun for me! I just hope I get it working. Lol wish me luck!
I watched this video and I was able to 1) diagnose my LED backlit problem 2) buy the tester to determine which LED's where out 3) I then replaced all of my LED lights...all 6 rows of them 4) enjoying my TV that is brighter than ever....Thank you Tampatec!
You can also plug up the TV once disassembled and use 99cent Tweezers to test each LED by touching both sides of the LED. The good LEDs won't do anything when doing this but you'll know right away when you get to the bad LED because all the lights will come on because when touching the bad LED with the Tweezers you're bypassing the bad LED forcing a Closed Circuit.

Hi it's Wayne from Affordable Mobile TV Repair. Very good video, and I would like at add a few thoughts. You can actually repair LED strips when the strips are out of stock. I have been repairing LED strips for 5 years and have few call backs. As long as you decrease you BL setting to 60% and update your firmware(if available), you should have no problems. This week I will be posting the procedure on how to repair LED strips on my website.
I liked your very detailed description of what to be careful of in the process of the repair. Very well described and prepared for safety and well organized in disassembly and assembly such as putting the same nuts and bolts together to remember when putting back together again. Very important.
Very helpful!!! My Tv displays the “home screen” for about a second then goes black & only half of the ho,screen picture displays- the other half is dark. Did the flashlight test as shop Jimmy’s video suggested, & see the menu display. Your 1st video helped a lot on trouble shooting & this one is very helpful on replacing LED strips. I’ll let you know how my “repair” goes lol
Great video. I watched part 1 and 2, and you explain things very well and it makes me much more comfortable in taking my tv apart. I have a Samsung 40" that I needs the backlights replaced. Keep up the good work!
Excellent video! This will be my guide. The painters tape part makes me a little nervous. I may just try to tape the hard parts of the panel instead of those ribbons that can fail. I like the way you set up the disassembly and reassembly. Thanks for the video!

I have a 49 inch Toshiba that's going bad, some days it works fine, but I'll say that whenever weather gets a little colder it begins to fail, but based on your videos it seems that it has a LED issue. So, I will go for it and open it up to see how it goes. I like your videos TampaTec, they're nicely done.

If the picture very dark but settings for brightness, contrast and backlight is high then my logical guess few of the LED blacklight strips are bad. Get LED strips at shopjimmy.com and electropartsonline.com
All your videos are good bro. This is your best video because you really show how challenging fixing shit is... we all appreciate your time & encouragement. I only fix tv's & other stuff for fun & donate them to needy peeps. btw, I think a 50% success rate is ok 👌.
I have a couple of LED HD TVs and I'm going to use your video to help me diagnose and fix them. This is the exact problem we have. I love UA-cam vids. I learned how to fix my laptop using a video. Big thanks!
Nice repair video. Between all the labor doing surgery on a TV panel (which was never intended to be serviced), the cost of buying all the LEDs (and finding the right ones), and the risk of it failing again (because the manufacturer under-designed the back-lighting circuit) - do you find it worthwhile to do this as a business?
my thought as well. I currently have a samsung ua32f5500 for led backlight problem and don't see it as economical to repair as well as the risk of damage. Probably will just return to customer.
Dude! Awesome video. I had the exact same problem with my Vizio tv. I did all the troubleshooting and low and behold! It was the led strips. I ordered the kit from shopjimmy and followed your video. Boom! It worked! Thank you!! I spent $72 instead of $600+. Thanks again.
That depends on the size of the TV and how new it is. It would cost me $800 to replace my TV whereas I can fix it (including the voltage/backlight tester) for about $150. If I had already had the testers on hand it would be much much cheaper. That's a heck of a lot better than $800 to replace or several hundred to have it repaired. I have only 1 local tv repair place and they charge $100 just to diagnose the problem.
Great video Tampatec! Your youtube channel is really helpfull and inspiring! Good to see that some technicians don´t mind to share their skills and knowledge with others. Recently my LED TV Samsung UE32f5000AW went complety dark, no picture. I have seen the part 1 video, tried to follow your steps and perform the measurements but due to my lack of electronics knowledge the results were inconclusive. The T-CON test showed image with the flashlight. I have totally dissambled the tv and tried to test the backlights strips with a 9V battery, a LED and 2 probe needles. First, I removed each led strip and tested with each led of the strip individually. In all leds of all strips, the Test Led turned on (full brightness) but the led itself didn´t. With the led strip back in place on the led interface, I performed the test like you (minute 7:34), none of the stripe´s Leds turned on and the Test Led turns on 4 stripes (last 1 off) but with a diminished brightness, almost none. With this info, can you tell me which part to replace (because I´m complety on the dark...). I apologize for the long comment and I would appreciate very much if you are able to give some tips.
I could really use some help. Got a broken tv from work no picture no sound. Red stand but light is on but when I press power it goes out. Watched a lot of your videos but can't quite pin point the issue.
Question. I took my 50" LG 50UH5530-UB apart, I checked the LED's with a tester I bought. All 12 tested at 16.2V. They all lit up. I did notice the second from bottom had a voltage that jumped around a bit. I was reaching across the table, so I thought maybe I wasn't touching the terminals enough. And once I went over there, it too stabilized at 16.2V. Reassembled it. (sigh??) Tried replacing power board with part from "Encompass," LG official distributor. Turned it on, same three blinks of standby light, then off. I sent it back. I replaced the two long 450V 68uF capacitors, that had little white hairs on the legs, and a slight burn looking spot on back, with good ones. IT didn't work. So I checked voltages through the cable with tester--outside leads showed 64.8 (multiple of 16.2, in series I guess), I got the same 64.8 on the inside two, but the middle one showed a fluctuating 32.4 much like the one I initially tested. So, back to replacing those, do you think? Could it be something else--does that little harness going down the middle (not circuit boards like I've seen on a lot of videos) have developed a short? Do the LED lights sometimes work, but are they still flawed? I don't move the TV much at all, ever.
I almost forgot to thank you for the card trick getting the old LEDs off also. I ended up using an old laundry vending card. I knew I kept it for a reason. It also saved me a few bucks not having to buy a 5 in 1 or putty knife.
Incorrect, 1 failed LED in a strip and 53 working LEDS (from the 54 total for example) will not trigger the safe mode. You need more failed LEDS for this to happen.
I t depends on the failure mode and the TV. If an LED fails shorted, the others can stay lit. If it fails open, all the LEDs in series with it will go out. My TV has two LED circuits. One has 22 LEDs in 4 strips and the other has 33 in 6 strips. Half of the strips have 5 LEDs, and the others have 6 LEDs. If any strip is unplugged, ALL 55 LEDs go out. The ones in the intact strips blink very briefly every few seconds. My problem is an intermittent failure, so I can't tell which one of the 55 is bad. I'm going to replace them all.
Your diagnosis and step-by-step instructions were simple, understandable extremely well done. Not sure how easy it will be for me to buy parts for my LG 32" LED TV here in Bohol Province of the Philippines. The labor here is inexpensive but the parts cost may be prohibitive. May just be better to replace my 4 year old TV. Thanks for a job well done. At least I have a better understanding of the fix if I choose to repair it.
I have found all these videos very helpful for fixing television set's so far I've fixed a plasma tvMy latest is a led set by Samsung parts for it are difficult to find but it has helped having support from shop Jimmy!Very good videos take the mystery and misery out of working on the unfamiliar technologies.
Tampatec - You. Are. Amazing. (and totally inspiring). I have a Samsung UN50ES6100 50" LED. Audio & power works fine. But video is extremely dark, like 5% visible in a dark place. Is this definiately a backlight strip issue? Where do I get the LED Strips for my TV if ShopJimmy doesn't seem to provide? Thank you again for all your help!
Grate video and well done with clear instructions. I have LCD TV, and half of the screen is more bright but picture appears, but as it is more bright it makes viewing uncomfortable especially if dark video is playing. Do you think it is because of back light? The right part is more brigher than left side. How to fix it?
Thank you very much for this video in particular but also for all that you do on your channel you've been a huge help to me and you've taught me so much valuable lessons.
Not too many people do this repair.. My hat goes off to you. Ive done 4 this year already. Right now i am working on an lg 50pj350 50" plasma, the ones that have the 20 kits on ebay to repair the power supply. Ive done the kit install and replaced every board but im still getting the clicking.. Gonna have to really test everything now. Im thinking the panel may be bad..Any ideas? Keep up the great work!!
thanks. clicking hmmm try unplugging a sustain board then turn on TV and see if it stops clicking, common problem for 50PJ340, 50PJ350, and 50PJ550 is relay clicks on and off> IC301, D304 sr104, 2x 220uf caps, f302 2A fuse, R927 2x 22ohm 5w resistors, repair kits at sales@zemtronix.com or just replace power board if Va voltage is ok but after relay clicks it goes down.
So On the 50pj350 i unplugged the power going to the ysus board and it powers on.. No lighting or anything of coarse but all my power supply voltages are good(va,vs,m5v, standby). Ive tried two different ysus boards with different buffer boards and i still get clicking? Is my panel shorted out? Thanks
Thank you so much for this. Roughly it costs £140.00 to fix a back-light and this video proved to me that I don't begrudge a man with a plan £140.00 for his repair 🤣. Wow no way could I be arsed with that for so little. Brilliant and thumbs up.

Hey tampatec, Greatly appreciate your video! I have tried testing the panels and each left side panel lights up completely when testing each strip individually, but none light up after the middle connection to the right side strip. So, none light up on the right side. Also, when testing the first panel in combination with each panel above, only the first panel lights up each time for panel 1-6 on left. But again each one lights up when tested individually (left side lights up only, not right). Any ideas? I would be forever grateful and be buying the panels or board. Thanks!!!
He probably fixed the old CRT/tube-type televisions. Back then, you didn't pitch those out, as a television was a significant portion of the household budget. All drug stores had tube testers in them.
A lot of you think this repair wasn`t worth the trouble and i agree but only because of the size of the tv. if this tv was 60 inch or larger it would be worth it because people are willing to pay $250 to $300.00 to have it repaired depending on the model and year of course.
Hi @Tampatec, just subscribe to your channel, have learned a lot from your videos, thank you. I have a Samsung TV that is having an issue and was wondering if maybe you might know the cause of it. The problem with the TV is that about half of the bottom screen is a few shades darker then the top half. it also has this flashing white light that flashes about every 2 seconds or so just on the bottom of the screen. The flashing white light becomes more apparent when setting the backlight to 0. I replaced the T-con board hoping this would fix the issue, but the problem still persist. Do you think this is due to bad LED strips or just a bad screen panel? Thanks
bad lcd panel or tcon board would have black or color lines or color distortion on screen but not bright white flickering can be power board or backlight board on LED TV its called LED driver board but older LCD TVs its inverter boards. Also YES LED strips can flicker check my repair video- ua-cam.com/video/U7hnmJS8Gfg/v-deo.html
Really? The entire repair requires nothing more than a screw driver, the cheapest soldering iron on earth. If you keep the boards on the back of the tv you can even power it on and see what lights are bad without having to buy a led light strip tester.
it's really great to watch you every step of the way I have a Black point curve smart tv and everything you said I could see it through on my tv like it's the same one as yours, it's really helpful appreciate it even though I don't have any tester or led strips it was really helpful appreciate it thanks
Why does one bad LED strip cause the whole screen to go black? Are they series circuit and one bad strip knocks them all out? Or is there something else?
If my warrenty gets me a new tv I will be attempting this with your exact same model. Looks easy enough🤞enough then I'll have 2 big screens thanks for your knoledge and info
Hi. I have to say these videos are very helpful soo Thanks. I have however a question. I accidently cracked the light diffuser panel while removing it. If the picture very dark but settings for brightness, contrast and backlight is high then my logical guess few of the LED blacklight strips are bad. Get LED strips at shopjimmy.com and electropartsonline.com
@@TampaTec thank u
All your videos are good bro. This is your best video because you really show how challenging fixing shit is... we all appreciate your time & encouragement. I only fix tv's & other stuff for fun & donate them to needy peeps. btw, I think a 50% success rate is ok 👌.
Great job tampatec, followed your video and wala I replaced all leds and assembled per your instructions. Vizio Tv works great. a big thanks.
This video was great! I just used to it fix my LG! Thanks!
Hector Martinez congrats for fixing your TV, you saved 💵💵💵
Probably not economically worth fixing, but if you enjoy doing it I guess it's good for a couple bucks.
You make what is otherwise (to most of us) fairly 'terrifying' look do-able : )
TV BK LIGHTS ON BUT NO PIC
I fixed my LG 50LN5700 with your instructions and new LED strips purchased from Shopjimmy. Thanks so much for your great step by step instructions!!
(sigh??)
Tried replacing power board with part from "Encompass," LG official distributor.
Thanks you are very helpful!!! Fixed my Westinghouse 48 inch tv.
Daily ShibaInu congrats
SUPERB KNOWLEDGE... you made it easy even for a lay man.. Excellent job guys !!
Great video helps a lot thanks for your time buddy
nice video , i have the same problem with my Bravia 46' HX920 do you think could be the same problem or maybe inverter as gone ?
Yes correctly said " it's scary, and delicate requires patience " I vl back down my TV BRIGHTNESS to prolong back light life.tks for nice videos
Back down the backlight setting to 25% not just brightness. Also Firmware update is recommended.
I almost forgot to thank you for the card trick getting the old LEDs off also. I ended up using an old laundry vending card. I knew I kept it for a reason. It also saved me a few bucks not having to buy a 5 in 1 or putty knife.
will just one failed LED in a strip cause the entire screen to go dark, or would it require multiple failed LED's to cause the dark screen?
Lewis A Fergusson yes
Love all your videos.Your repair and how to Is what brought me to your channel.Keep up the good work.
Thank you.
One of the best informative videos about subject so far I have seen. Thanks mate
fantastic well explained very informative for tv technitions bravo well done.
I have found all these videos very helpful for fixing television set's so far I've fixed a plasma tvMy latest is a led set by Samsung parts for it are difficult to find but it has helped having support from shop Jimmy!Very good videos take the mystery and misery out of working on the unfamiliar technologies.
Tampatec -
You. Are.
Josh Goodwin you figure it out? Having the same exact problem 5% visible but audio and power work fine.
Grate video and well done with clear instructions.
I have LCD TV, and half of the screen is more bright but picture appears, but as it is more bright it makes viewing uncomfortable especially if dark video is playing.
Do you think it is because of back light? The right part is more brigher than left side. How to fix it?
I aso have the same issue but mine happened when I changed two backlights which was defective and the left one is brighter than the right one
Awesome How To Video TampaTec! Keep 'em coming :D
thanks Ayleid
TampaTec thanks
Thank you very much for this video in particular but also for all that you do on your channel you've been a huge help to me and you've taught me so much valuable lessons.
Great video! Very informative! I feel confident that I can repair my tv in a similar manner. Thx again!
John G cool . take your time and double check your work and you'll do fine👍
+Tampatec thanks for the advice.. Gonna give that a shot...
Thanks
I think everyone who is interested should be watching these videos
You're videos are the best ones I've come across, no need for me to look any further.. Right on Brother!!✊✊✊
Thanks
Thank you so much for this. Roughly it costs £140.00 to fix a back-light and this video proved to me that I don't begrudge a man with a plan £140.00 for his repair 🤣. Wow no way could I be arsed with that for so little. Brilliant and thumbs up.
Good video, thanks.

Hello Tampatec! It is an easy fix but a tedious one... done it before but customer dont want to pay for the painstaking job. Great video as usual... Joe -K4JGA - JGA ELECTRONIC REPAIR CENTER, CASSELBERRY, FLORIDA
Josef Ayala easy for a pro, yes definitely need patience doing this repair. I think you're an hour and a half from Tampa I should visit you in your shop if that's ok? maybe we can collab if you got a repair channel?
Tampatec hello... sorry for late replied... although i dont have a store front, just my garage converted into my workshop you are welcome to come. Due to some health issue an early retirement was forced on me...😕 ... in any event it is I that would like to learn from you!!! Your videos are one of the best ever made here... just finished an estimate on an Emerson/Funai... 39 inches LCD bad Inverter, somewhat problematic to get... customet declined to pay for it...oh well...she gave it to me!!! Planning to fix it... keep it coming young man!!! from Casselberry, Fl. Joe K4JGA JGA ELECTRONICS REPAIR CENTER
Hey tampatec,
Greatly appreciate your video!
Thanks!!!
I fixed TV's for living. for 50yrs if my LCD breaks I'm going to spend 200$ for new put old one in dumpster.
And by doing that you make the owners and shareholders of Samsung Sony etc very happy. You have fallen into their ploy.
this guy is very strange he is fixing and yet he is dumbing?
He probably fixed the old CRT/tube-type televisions. Back then, you didn't pitch those out, as a television was a significant portion of the household budget. All drug stores had tube testers in them.
Our environment thanks you. You should put it in your own backyard instead of someone else's.
Angelos Anagnostou who do think makes the parts for the tv?? So they’re going to make money off you anyway you look at it
Top video. Buying a new larger LED TV but will fix my LG 32" later as a project
Thanks for the quick response. I will try the swapping the power board next and see what happens. The TV is a Samsung UN65F6300AF
Ham Fitness
Yes?
lol i didnt learn from your mistakes i copied them exactly
I will not change the LED strips of my tv, but I know now what is the problem of my TV,,, big thanks bro from IRAQ....
You Can Buy same led tester at ebay for 31.79 with free shipping
gracias aprendo mucho de tus vídeos me gusta verlos todos. yo repare un tv con un vídeo que tienes gracias amigo saludos desde El Salvador
Sigh..
Just going to buy another tv lol
Really? The entire repair requires nothing more than a screw driver, the cheapest soldering iron on earth. If you keep the boards on the back of the tv you can even power it on and see what lights are bad without having to buy a led light strip tester.
Great video. I was able to fix LG 47" TV after watching it. Thanks a lot.
Throw it out and buy a new one.
it's really great to watch you every step of the way I have a Black point curve smart tv and everything you said I could see it through on my tv like it's the same one as yours, it's really helpful appreciate it even though I don't have any tester or led strips it was really helpful appreciate it thanks
You should link the first video 😊
ua-cam.com/video/Z1DEkSguWtg/v-deo.html
Why does one bad LED strip cause the whole screen to go black? Are they series circuit and one bad strip knocks them all out? Or is there something else?
If my warrenty gets me a new tv I will be attempting this with your exact same model. Looks easy enough🤞enough then I'll have 2 big screens thanks for your knoledge and info
I appreciate this video... it helped .. keep doing what you doing...
It's very informative
Thank you very much. It is very good video. i will take apart according to your steps to replace LED strips.
I have a Samsung tv, but after watching this I think I can fix my tv..thanks TampaTec for a great, informed video....
Hi. I have to say these videos are very helpful soo Thanks. I have however a question. I accidently cracked the light diffuser panel while removing it. Its a crack of about 4-5 cm (im not sure how many inches is that). But the question is are you going to see the crack in the the end or is there a way to fix it or should i just start looking for a new one
Video ok, Sound ok. Two vertical Bright spots appx 4" apart near Top Left in my LG 32" model 32LB582B
