This is my thread. After doing this on multiple characters the only thing I've changed my opinion on is that its not as bad as I originally thought it would be. However, that wasn't the point. The point is, its still a long grind and it is IMO utterly pointless and disrespectful of our time, to not allow us to buy scripts on alts. There is just no value or good reason for it. I think things like psijic or mages guild are different. You can grind those in a day. This has an account wide cooldown, plus a daily cooldown. I have 7 characters, 1 of each class. I do everything in the game but I'm mostly a pvper/endgame player. I want to make builds and test stuff. Not be locked behind weeks of doing daily quests. If they didn't nerf farming this on alts, with the account wide cd, it would be much better.
Agreed. This entire expansion has felt like nothing but a grind fest and this is coming from someone who's spent hundreds of hours in multiple survival games, did the psyjiic quest line on like 5 toons and have farmed skyshards, mages, fighters guild & undaunted for every character and companion I have. The major difference with script farming is that not only is it ridiculously long and RNG based! but it completely dictates WHAT you do on the game for days at a time. I can't just log in and go where I want and passively collect some scripts, NO! I have to do specific dailies, including pvp when I would much rather be doing dungeons. otherwise, I'll be farming this thing even longer!
Guild Wars 2 does this really well. They actually condensed the quest for their most complex mount into a few days I believe from the six months it took me as a casual.
As a healer main, who utilizes 5 alts for different situations with the strong chance skills like menders bonds will be useful for healers to have in PvE- yeah I understand where this guy is coming from.
So there are several ways to circumvent this mechanism. Firstly, not every character needs to be maxed, a healer doesn't need all dd-skills and vice versa. Secondly, you just have to bend down and pick up^^. It seems more economical to me, if you really need a lot of ink, to create twinks and do the quests over again... I currently have 83 ink and have not yet tested any new skills apart from Fighters guild. But: the system should be more predictable, so 1 x ink drop per guild quest could be nice.
The problem I ran into with this is that I ate all of my scripts on my main. Then found a build I wanted to try that has some specific scripts needed to make the build work, for an alt. So, without access to the scripts I already ate on my main, I'm now grinding dailys again on this alt until the RNG scripts drop. So true, that character doesn't need 100% but geez, i'll probably have 75% of them before I finally get the ones I want. Oh, and I've only found 14 inks so far and I've been playing dailys, dungeons, story quests for hours a day.
@@Cooperharley0204 The devil is in the details. What is monetized, how it is monetized, how much anything costs and so on so forth. I bet if everything in store was dirt-cheap it would not be such an issue. If everything were accountwide, it would not be such an issue. Many if's there, we all know multiple ways it could be better.
I agree that stuff you have to grind for like arena weapons, sould have a way to obtain it in a less time consuming way. Like more golden vendors as an example. Not everyone has the time or group of friends that play to help unfortunately.
2:30 mark: go to questgiver and skip quest This is exactly how crafting works. I forget the level but once you've levelled a crafting skill high enough you can pick up the crafting quest and skip right to the rewards As said in the video, I like the idea of making that an achievement award. If you've maxed out a skill line on a character and have the achievement, your alts should have non-crown store options for accelerating the grind (gold buy, double inspiration, whatever) Dark Brotherhood and Thieves Guild are great, but me buying them with gold or just getting max level because I've done that time sink before would be great. It's not like there are effective ways to grind these, and the passives are nice but not game breaking
I don't have an issue with investing time in content, but I would have liked if the initial quest line had been less annoying. It's great that we don't have to do only the first part of the quest line on alts, but getting the scripts is a pain, since their drops are random. Once unlocked, the scripts should be available for purchase with gold. That would also make sense in game, since we a are helping to rebuild the library / scholarium.
Don't forget the $40 for a copy-paste zone and the grind. Like the "spell crafting" was supposed to be as fun as nearly an entire new game based on price but instead is just a massive disappointment. What an awful company...no surprise though..zen is run by beth, microsoft, and blizzard. yikes.
I had some time today to play it since i play on console an it released today. And after the first quest i was like im so over this grind. Its not even fun in my opinion. The skills seem cool an all but this grind is boring. It honestly put me to sleep.
The scribing quests I assume is what you’re referring to? I get that the actual action/quest objective can be a bit grindy, but I personally really enjoyed the actual dialogue and stories 🤷🏻♂️
@@theyhavecookies9698 yea it feels like very fetchy and psijic oriented in regard to the grindy-ness of objectives. They took a lot of time with the stories and writing but feels like they just quickly put together the objectives without much thought. Enjoyed it, but could’ve enjoyed it more for sure
It's a little weird that so much of the game has moved to Account-Wide (Achievements, Collectibles, etc.) but some things are very strictly character specific (Motifs, Recipes). This is one of the times where I think having things like Grimoire and Script knowledge would have been better as an account-wide system. And then Luminous Ink would be the 'grind' of the system. But instead we have to grind out the quests (since they're the fastest source of Ink), then grind out the gold for Grimoires, then grind out the Scripts via either dailies or the vendors, then grind out even more Inks *on every character*. And the quests, dailies, and ink grinds are not particularly interesting or fun.
EXACTLY. I absolutely agree. I’m fine with grinds, just not tedious & silly ones. Grinding for the ink is whatever. It is what it is. But it feels sloppy in the implementation as is. Hopefully we’ll see some changes in future updates
ZoS could meet us in the middle by selling Sub/Gold Tokens on the Crown Store? Effectively the same thing as a WoW Token (Can be exchanged or purchased for gold or money). As well as allowing all the skill lines, and skyshards to be bought for Crowns OR Gold from the Crown Store... Thoughts?
Yea I mean I’ve never understood why we have to do what we do currently with crown trading. Token would be cool. In wow though it gives you game time, what would it give you in eso?
Zos could make it a bit easier. I understand that I have a lot of time to do those things I want to do, but I'm not the majority. That said, I've finished the Scribbing quests on my main on NA, just finished the Indrik quests on EU and have 1 other character on both working through the Indrik quests. I have 17 characters on my main NA, 10 on EU.. and the 2nd account. Many of my characters have specific jobs.. PvP, Archives, Vet Trials and Dungeons ( Healer asnd DPS ) and just for shits and giggles ( over land funzies characters). To put all 37 of my Main account NA and EU characters through any given quest line is more than I have patience for. Will I put them all through the minimum? Probably not. It's a bit much... I also won't buy the lines from the Crown Store... if I could for gold?? Hmmm character by character basis, they don't all need Scribbing. Plus with my BG character.. are some of the Scribbing skills considered proc's? If so my BG character for sure won't need them. I'll hold off on giving any of my characters Scribing skills ( except the 1st free one) untill I can have a real good look at some guides and know what I want... then priorities.
Players like you are the weirdest of them all. Id love to know what satisfaction you get from doing random dailies for weeks or months. Because like you could have done that before scribing.
huh? I'm nearing 100% script completion from just doing West Weald dailies, plus doubles for alts. so this is our monthly episode of casuals complaining they have to grind in an mmo. zzzz
people playing an mmo an expect not to grind smh, its no different to having to level fighters guild, mages guild, undaunted etc. Too many players just want everything in the first couple hours.
