WOW!! The decision to let ‘it’ go is incredibly edgy, brave and insanely BRILLIANT ! those who embrace this ‘mindset’, see the lasting importance of how that shift can make space to build deeper relationships and to experience a richer life away from the chaos and clutter of less important things. In my humble opinion , the incredible value of downsizing -whether it be be physically or mentally clears the path to that end. Bravo!🎉

I hate my hair. Always have. I've brought in pics to stylists, but it never looks the same even though I try to find similar face shapes, texture, etc. Over the years I've answered their assessment questions. My answers are always the same. Their recommendations are always the same: chin or shoulder bob. I get bored with that. The last few years I just say, "Do what you think best." Results are hit or miss. My somewhat wavy hair is now flipping weird and reverts even after curling iron and product. Anyway just want to say congrats on your new lifestyle; sounds fun. I grew up in Portland and reside south of Tucson. Let me be the first to say, "Welcome to Arizona" if you come down this far. Enjoy!

My hair is naturally poker straight and dark ash blonde. I have had my hair permed, layered, same length, short, grown out, long, bleached, coloured, etc. I had a tendency to go in and get it all cut off (usually mid-length to long)every few years in February. It used to give the stylists fits. Some even cried. What I learned through all my years (I'm 51 now) of hair adventures is that it is just hair and it will grow back. Don't mistake me, women are defined by their hair. I had a really hard time when a medication I was taking ended up making big chunks of my hair fall out. It was a hard time. However, hair is just hair and the growing out process should be seen as another opportunity to try something new, in my opinion.
Currently, I have a shoulder length, purple shag. I'm still working on breaking in my current stylist. Best of luck to Kevan and to you, Justin and partner with the new adventures.

Retired barber here. When my youngest daughter was in high school , she wanted to go from long to short. I took about 3 hours cutting her hair a bit at a time and assessing how she felt about each stage of shortness . She was fine with it and we finally got to short- which she loved. We also colored it from medium brown to red. She was at that stage of life that she needed a total makeover! That was years ago and she still keeps it red. The short was just what she needed at the time, tho she wears it long now, which we both prefer. ( normal haircut usually took about 20 minutes)

I think you’re right about people having more than one great look. It seems like she’s kind of stuck now in the middle waiting for it to grow out or something. I love the style you offered her and I think she should wear it both ways, slicked back and smooth and straight. Oh how I wish you would come to Cedar Rapids Iowa and do my hair!

Van life! 🎊 good for you.. living your dream😍So happy for you!!🎉
As for cuts.. her side shot of what she has NOW seems to show (I think) the beginnings of a shaved undercut like her dream cut photo. She just needs someone to get her top layers sorted out and she would have that edgy and artistic look exactly like her inspiration photo. It seems like a super look for her lifestyle. Your options are fabulous BUT a tiny bit too “normal” and corporate. No edge! Sorry! This is the first time I have disagreed with your options-they are gorgeous styles but not edgy enough, in my opinion (please! Take my opinion with a grain of salt, but I am an artist too and I feel her pain in the struggle to find a stylist who “gets” you) She wants drama and wow…my opinion would be to go for her original photo inspired opinion. 😊

Hey, no insult taken at all! I totally appreciate your opinion. And I don’t totally disagree with you. I understand exactly where you’re coming from. I can agree that my ideas weren’t hyper edgy, however, my bigger concern is that looking at what she currently likes, as well as, her situation with where she lives and even the way she dresses, I wanted to not push the edge too far if that makes sense. With that said, I don’t disagree with you at all.

Justin, there are just too many stylists out there who are horrible. Photos don't help. Talking doesn't help. They just aren't you!
I love that ashy bob you showed. That was adorable!
Safe travels! Can't wait for those "unsucky" views.

I'm in south FL, and I totally get the heat and humidity thing. Two showers a day is normal here, especially in the summer months! I have baby fine here, and that means frizz. Frizz means lots of products to control things. That's not me at all. I'm a wash and go girl. Its my lifestyle too. Not much time to spend on me. I get the short haircut. I personally don't like short hair on me either. It is cooler to have less hair, and faster to take care of. I do the bob in various lengths because part of year I can wear it down, but life demands during certain times of year means pony tails for me. I'm a mom with lots of outdoor activities going on depending on the season. So, I'm thinking that the bob for her is the way to go. She doesn't seem to have a fast paced life. So styling it back like you showed instead of a pony tail would work for her, and wearing it down makes it look like she has plenty of hair.

    First video I’ve seen…cool van!
Her hair style for that cut looks best away from her face or down….what “she” prefers.
If she wants a more shaggy short do, then maybe more texturizing? 🤷🏻‍♀️ But that might limit her style too just the one don’t know.
    Good suggestions for her.

Eee good luck with this new phase of your life! Brilliant. I am currently on a long holiday in Europe in a motorhome with husband and dogs. We are from the UK and have no fixed agenda-it’s generally great. BUT it does have its challenges. Living in each other’s pockets is the main one I think. Make sure you spend some time apart! (Or is that just us?)
Re the hair I actually liked how she looked in the pic with the short cut. But yes your suggestion seemed to suit her. Wonder if she can use a blue shampoo without having reaction as that would brighten colour up. Thank you J x

wowowow! Justin! What a fun surprise. I thought I may have gotten a response via email for some clarification before you dove in. First I want to compliment you on your superior communication skills. You read between the lines of my brief email and heard me! Despite showing my stylists my Pinterest collections of cuts that I like and showing an album of my previous styles over the years and most recent bad cuts, I have not been successful in communicating, OR they have not had the skills to deliver. I recently had another cut since the purple -shirt,- Kevan-Now, pictures. It is much better. The top was kept long, the right side was properly textured and made piece-y. The left side tucked behind my ear, and the lower back tight and the top back a bit longer and combed into a duck point. The sides are long enough that with a little blow dry and round brush it can be made a bit rounder and dressier. I do like your off the face soft look. A bit of height and volume is good. It is most interesting to me what you said about many good options, not one good look. I want to hear language like I am used to from my fashion background, like because she has a short neck, V necks are better than jewel necklines. Because she is short waisted a dress without a waist seam is more flattering than one with a peplum. So that I can best chose a style, I would like to know what you see. I see a short forehead, recession that can be disguised, fine straight hair, thin at hairline but thick at a W neckline. LOL, I guess I chose a good edgy look! That lady,, who you think looks like me, is called the Accidental Icon. Look her up. She has a small build, small face and rockin hot clothes/image. She teaches at Hunter college and lives in NYC. I will send an email of my recent cut. Big hug and thanks. And happy trails!

I agree the best thing is to bring pictures. I think that's Icon Accidental at 11:00 and trying to describe that cut without showing it could go so wrong. And I've shown photos to stylists who said my hair can't support the idea I wanted, and I appreciate the honesty instead of trying to force it to happen. Then we work on a modification.

I thought it was Kevin in the photo too. I didn't like the messy look for her. But if she had a really bad hair day, she could say it was a suggestion of a primer stylist 🤔, 😅. Just a little humor. I think the small alternatively to the cut she had, was phenomenal. The first alternatively look, could be a useful for an occasional look. Just my opinion.
Will look forward to seeing your "on the road" videos.

Oh my God! Hair repair thy name is Disaster!! Kevan ends up actually looking older than before the cut. She really had a beautiful contended smile with her previous cut. Many women make the mistake of 1. thinking shorter means better 2. then going to a mediocre hairdresser/stylist to chop off their hair. I had beautiful long hair once which went completely horrible after a few treatments with henna. Hair gone from natural to straw texture but instead of repair I opted for a short cut. I did go to an expert who gave me an excellent bob but unfortunately he left town leaving me in great loss. I never got another person to give me the same cut again.
I request you plz to suggest some corrective measures for those who’re still left with some decent hair to boot but are tired of the same look for long.

I knew you had plans for vanlife, just didn't know when you were doing it, how exciting, although how you are going to fit your huge dog in as well will be interesting.
What would be fabulous is if if you could meet up with some of your viewers on your travels and re-style their hair for us to see. A bit like what you are already doing here in your channel but in real life. That would be awesome to see the transformations live on your channel.
Won't apply for me sadly as I live in London UK, but it would make great content and I'm sure subscribers would be up for the chance to have someone like you re-style their hair as aso many of us struggle to find good stylists who understand their clients wants/needs.
